  • GWT CssResource Customization

    - by Eric Landry
I'm writing a GWT widget using UIBinder and MVP. The widget's default styles are defined in TheWidgetView.ui.xml: <ui:style type="com.widgetlib.spinner.display.TheWidgetView.MyStyle"> .textbox { border: 1px solid #red; } .important { font-weight: bold; } </ui:style> The widget's CssResource interface is defined in TheWidgetView.java: public class TheWidgetView extends HorizontalPanel implements TheWidgetPresenter.Display { // ... some code @UiField MyStyle style; public interface MyStyle extends CssResource { String textbox(); String important(); } // ... more code } I'd like the consumer of this widget to be able to customize part of the widget's styles and to have this in their MyExample.ui.xml: <ui:style type="com.consumer.MyExample.MyStyle"> .textbox { border: 2px solid #black; } </ui:style> And this be their MyExample.java: public class MyExample extends Composite { // ... some code @UiField MyStyle style; interface MyStyle extends TheWidgetView.MyStyle{ String textbox(); } // ... more code } Is there a way that my widget can have default styles, but that the consumer of the widget can override one of them? When an interface extends TheWidgetView.MyStyle, the of the widget consumer needs to define all the styles listed in that parent interface. I've seen some widget libraries have the widget's constructor take in a ClientBundle as parameter, which I suppose could apply to CssResource. Although, I'm not sure how I'd pass in this style object in a constructor invoked by UIBinder. Thanks much in advance!

  • Dynamic CSS class names in GWT

    - by Anupam Jain
I am in the process of porting a simple CSS grid system to GWT. My CSS file currently has classes like .size1, .size2 etc., and I have a CSS resource that looks like - class MyResource extends CSSResource { @ClassName("size1") String size1(); @ClassName("size2") String size2(); // And so on } However what I really want, is to have a single function like the following - String size(int size); which will generate the appropriate class when passed the size as an integer at runtime. This is needed as I perform some calculations to determine the actual space available/needed for a widget in javascript and then attach the appropriate class name. Is this something that is even possible with GWT?

  • How to use imported css styles in GWT correctly

    - by Eduard Wirch
Imagine you created the following simple widget with UiBinder: <!DOCTYPE ui:UiBinder SYSTEM "http://dl.google.com/gwt/DTD/xhtml.ent"> <ui:UiBinder xmlns:ui="urn:ui:com.google.gwt.uibinder" xmlns:g="urn:import:com.google.gwt.user.client.ui"> <ui:style type="my.package.Widget1.Widget1Style"> .childWidgetStyle { border-width: 1px; border-style: dotted; } </ui:style> <g:TextArea styleName="{style.childWidgetStyle}"/> </ui:UiBinder> package my.package; // some imports here public class Widget1 extends Composite { private static Widget1UiBinder uiBinder = GWT.create(Widget1UiBinder.class); interface Widget1UiBinder extends UiBinder<Widget, Widget1> { } public interface Widget1Style extends CssResource { String childWidgetStyle(); } @UiField TextArea textArea; public Widget1(String text) { initWidget(uiBinder.createAndBindUi(this)); textArea.setText(text); } } Than you use this simple widget in another (parent) widget you created: <!DOCTYPE ui:UiBinder SYSTEM "http://dl.google.com/gwt/DTD/xhtml.ent"> <ui:UiBinder xmlns:ui="urn:ui:com.google.gwt.uibinder" xmlns:g="urn:import:com.google.gwt.user.client.ui"> <ui:style> .parentWidgetStyle .childWidgetStyle { margin-bottom: 10px; } </ui:style> <g:VerticalPanel ui:field="listPanel" addStyleNames="{style.parentWidgetStyle}" /> </ui:UiBinder> package my.package; // imports go here public class ParentWidget extends Composite { private static ParentWidgetUiBinder uiBinder = GWT.create(ParentWidgetUiBinder.class); interface ParentWidgetUiBinder extends UiBinder<Widget, ParentWidget> { } @UiField VerticalPanel listPanel; public ParentWidget(final String... texts) { initWidget(uiBinder.createAndBindUi(this)); for (final String text : texts) { final Widget1 entry = new Widget1(text); listPanel.add(entry); } } } What you want to achieve is to get some margin between the Widget1 entries in the list using css. But this won't work. Because GWT will obfuscate the css names. And the obfuscated name for .childWidgetStyle in ParentWidget will be different from the .childWidgetStyle in Widget1. The resulting css will look similar to this: .G1unc9fbE { border-style:dotted; border-width:1px; } .G1unc9fbBB .G1unc9fDa { margin-bottom:10px; } So the margin setting wont apply. How do I do this correctly?

    I have my nginx conf file so that when ever a mobile device visits my site the url gets rewritten to m.mysite.com I did it by adding the following set $mobile_rewrite do_not_perform; if ($http_user_agent ~* "android.+mobile|avantgo|bada\/|blackberry|blazer|compal|elaine|fennec|hiptop|iemobile|ip(hone|od)|iris|kindle|lge |maemo|midp|mmp|netfront|opera m(ob|in)i|palm( os)?|phone|p(ixi|re)\/|plucker|pocket|psp|symbian|treo|up\.(browser|link)|vodafone|wap|windows (ce|phone)|xda|xiino") { set $mobile_rewrite perform; } if ($http_user_agent ~* "^(1207|6310|6590|3gso|4thp|50[1-6]i|770s|802s|a wa|abac|ac(er|oo|s\-)|ai(ko|rn)|al(av|ca|co)|amoi|an(ex|ny|yw)|aptu|ar(ch|go)|as(te|us)|attw|au(di|\-m|r |s )|avan|be(ck|ll|nq)|bi(lb|rd)|bl(ac|az)|br(e|v)w|bumb|bw\-(n|u)|c55\/|capi|ccwa|cdm\-|cell|chtm|cldc|cmd\-|co(mp|nd)|craw|da(it|ll|ng)|dbte|dc\-s|devi|dica|dmob|do(c|p)o|ds(12|\-d)|el(49|ai)|em(l2|ul)|er(ic|k0)|esl8|ez([4-7]0|os|wa|ze)|fetc|fly(\-|_)|g1 u|g560|gene|gf\-5|g\-mo|go(\.w|od)|gr(ad|un)|haie|hcit|hd\-(m|p|t)|hei\-|hi(pt|ta)|hp( i|ip)|hs\-c|ht(c(\-| |_|a|g|p|s|t)|tp)|hu(aw|tc)|i\-(20|go|ma)|i230|iac( |\-|\/)|ibro|idea|ig01|ikom|im1k|inno|ipaq|iris|ja(t|v)a|jbro|jemu|jigs|kddi|keji|kgt( |\/)|klon|kpt |kwc\-|kyo(c|k)|le(no|xi)|lg( g|\/(k|l|u)|50|54|e\-|e\/|\-[a-w])|libw|lynx|m1\-w|m3ga|m50\/|ma(te|ui|xo)|mc(01|21|ca)|m\-cr|me(di|rc|ri)|mi(o8|oa|ts)|mmef|mo(01|02|bi|de|do|t(\-| |o|v)|zz)|mt(50|p1|v )|mwbp|mywa|n10[0-2]|n20[2-3]|n30(0|2)|n50(0|2|5)|n7(0(0|1)|10)|ne((c|m)\-|on|tf|wf|wg|wt)|nok(6|i)|nzph|o2im|op(ti|wv)|oran|owg1|p800|pan(a|d|t)|pdxg|pg(13|\-([1-8]|c))|phil|pire|pl(ay|uc)|pn\-2|po(ck|rt|se)|prox|psio|pt\-g|qa\-a|qc(07|12|21|32|60|\-[2-7]|i\-)|qtek|r380|r600|raks|rim9|ro(ve|zo)|s55\/|sa(ge|ma|mm|ms|ny|va)|sc(01|h\-|oo|p\-)|sdk\/|se(c(\-|0|1)|47|mc|nd|ri)|sgh\-|shar|sie(\-|m)|sk\-0|sl(45|id)|sm(al|ar|b3|it|t5)|so(ft|ny)|sp(01|h\-|v\-|v )|sy(01|mb)|t2(18|50)|t6(00|10|18)|ta(gt|lk)|tcl\-|tdg\-|tel(i|m)|tim\-|t\-mo|to(pl|sh)|ts(70|m\-|m3|m5)|tx\-9|up(\.b|g1|si)|utst|v400|v750|veri|vi(rg|te)|vk(40|5[0-3]|\-v)|vm40|voda|vulc|vx(52|53|60|61|70|80|81|83|85|98)|w3c(\-| )|webc|whit|wi(g |nc|nw)|wmlb|wonu|x700|xda(\-|2|g)|yas\-|your|zeto|zte\-)") { set $mobile_rewrite perform; } if ($mobile_rewrite = perform) { rewrite ^ http://m.mywebsite.com redirect; break; } I got it from http://detectmobilebrowsers.com/ IT WORKS.But none of my images/js/css files load only the HTML. • What is the preferred way to associate css styles with GWT widgets (using UiBinder)?

    - by smallbec
From the GWT page (http://code.google.com/webtoolkit/doc/latest/DevGuideUiCss.html#cssfiles), it mentions 2 ways (for modern application): Using a CssResource contained within a ClientBundle. Using an inline element in a UiBinder template. Modern GWT applications typically use a combination of CssResource and UiBinder. So my question is, when should I use a css file and create a CssResource for it, and when should I define styles directly in the ui.xml file using <ui:style>? Are there any performance implication (i.e. resource size to download on the client) with either of these ways?

  • GWT - problems with constants in css

    - by hba
Hi, I'm new to GWT; I'm building a small sample app. I have several CSS files. I'm able to successfully use the ClientBundle and CssResource to assign styles to the elements defined in my UiBinder script. Now I'd like to take it one step further and introduce CSS constants using @def css-rule. The @def works great when I define a constant and use it in the same CSS file. However I cannot use it in another CSS file. When I try to use the @eval rule to evaluate an existing constant the compiler throws an execption: "cannot make a static reference to the non-static method ". Here is an example of what I'm trying to do: ConstantStyle.css @def BACKGROUND red; ConstantStyle.java package abc; import ...; interface ConstantStyle extends cssResource { String BACKGROUND(); } MyStyle.css @eval BACKGROUND abc.ConstantStyle.BACKGROUND(); .myClass {background-color: BACKGROUND;} MyStyle.java package abc; import ...; interface ConstantStyle extends cssResource { String myClass; } MyResources.java package abc; import ...; interface MyResources extends ClientBundle { @Source("ConstantStyle.css") ConstantStyle constantStyle(); @Source("MyStyle.css") MyStyle myStyle(); } Thanks in advance!

  • CSS Redundancy checker for GWT

    - by cupakob
In my project i have a lot of css styles. Some of them are never used (not anymore). I check this manually with eclipse: i select text and then with "Search - Text - Project" i can find, if this style occurs only in the stylesheet or also in java files. Is there better way to check, which styles are currently used in my GWT project? edit: @Igor,Keith: thanks for the hint, but i'm not using the CssResource to insert my css file. Instead i use my index.html. And i want to remove the unused styles just for better overview. CssResource is not exactly, what i'm looking for.

  • How can I use CssResources in UiBinder a generated Cell?

    - by confile
I want to generate a Cell for a CellWidget with the UiBinder (UiRenderer). What I did to generate the cell is in MyCell.java: public class MyCell implements AbstractCell<MyDto> { public interface Resources extends ClientBundle { @Source({Css.DEFAULT_CSS }) Css css(); } public interface Css extends CssResource { String DEFAULT_CSS = "test/MyStyle.css"; String test(); } interface MyUiRenderer extends UiRenderer { void render(SafeHtmlBuilder sb, String name, SafeStyles styles); } private static MyUiRenderer renderer = GWT.create(MyUiRenderer.class); Resources resources = GWT.create(Resources.class); @Override public void render(SafeHtmlBuilder safeHtmlBuilder, MyDto model) { SafeStyles style = SafeStylesUtils.fromTrustedString(resources.css().test().toString()); renderer.render(safeHtmlBuilder, model.getName(), style); } } My MyCell.ui.xml file looks like this: <!DOCTYPE ui:UiBinder SYSTEM "http://dl.google.com/gwt/DTD/xhtml.ent"> <ui:UiBinder xmlns:ui='urn:ui:com.google.gwt.uibinder'> <ui:with field="name" type="java.lang.String" /> <ui:with field='styles' type='com.google.gwt.safecss.shared.SafeStyles'/> <div style="{styles}"><ui:text from="{name}" /></div> </ui:UiBinder> MyStyle.css: .test { background-color: red; font-size: 20px; display: flex; ... } When I run my code I get the following error: [DEBUG] [mobile] - Rebinding test.client.app.MyCell.MyUiRenderer [DEBUG] [mobile] - Invoking generator com.google.gwt.uibinder.rebind.UiBinderGenerator [ERROR] [mobile] - java.lang.String required, but {styles} returns com.google.gwt.safecss.shared.SafeStyles: <div style='{styles}'> (:9) [ERROR] [mobile] - Deferred binding failed for 'test.client.app.MyCell.MyUiRenderer'; expect subsequent failures [ERROR] [mobile] - (GWT.java:72) 2014-06-08 17:15:05,214 [FATAL] Uncaught Exception: Then I tried to this: in my UiBinder but it does not work. • How to style a standard GWT component (TabBar) differently?

    - by Mike Petterson
I am using a TabBar and I want to style the component in different ways. So one time this style, another time that style. I thought this will work but it didn't: TabBar t = new TabBar(); t.addTab( "1" ); t.addTab( "2" ); t.addStyleName( MyResources.INSTANCE.css().slickTab() ); And: public interface MyCssResource extends CssResource { String slickTab(); } In the CSS .slickTab .gwt-TabBar .gwt-TabBarItem { background-color: #ff0000; font-weight: normal; } But the appearance don't change. What I am doing wrong?

  • GWT UiBinder doesn't load the stylesheet

    - by halish
I wanted to make a GWT widget using UiBinder. So I made: UserPanel.ui.xml like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <ui:UiBinder xmlns:ui='urn:ui:com.google.gwt.uibinder' xmlns:g='urn:import:com.google.gwt.user.client.ui'> <ui:with field="res" type="com.example.resources.UserPanelResources" /> <g:VerticalPanel styleNames='{res.userpanel.main}'> ...some other widgets go here... </g:VerticalPanel> </ui:UiBinder> UserPanel.css like this: .main { width: 1000px; background-color: #f9f9fa; padding: 15px 10px; font-family: "Georgia"; } and UserPanelResources.java like: public interface UserPanelResources extends ClientBundle { public interface UserPanelCss extends CssResource { String main(); } @Source("css/userpanel.css") UserPanelCss userpanel(); } All the files and packages are in their place, as everything compiles just fine. But when I run the Development Mode, the styles are not applied! I tried many different approaches, but it still doesn't work. What I noticed, is that in the HTML, the VerticalPanel is given the class name obfuscated by GWT, but the CSS is not send to the browser - in fact, the GWT doesn't even ask for it. Am I missing something?
