  • Process spawned by exec-maven-plugin blocks the maven process

    - by Arnab Biswas
I am trying to execute the following scenario using maven : pre-integration-phase : Start a java based application using a main class (using exec-maven-plugin) integration-phase : Run the integration test cases (using maven-failsafe-plugin) post-integration-phase: Stop the application gracefully (using exec-maven-plugin) Here is pom.xml snip: <plugins> <plugin> <groupId>org.codehaus.mojo</groupId> <artifactId>exec-maven-plugin</artifactId> <version>1.2.1</version> <executions> <execution> <id>launch-myApp</id> <phase>pre-integration-test</phase> <goals> <goal>exec</goal> </goals> </execution> </executions> <configuration> <executable>java</executable> <arguments> <argument>-DMY_APP_HOME=/usr/home/target/local</argument> <argument>-Djava.library.path=/usr/home/other/lib</argument> <argument>-classpath</argument> <classpath/> <argument>com.foo.MyApp</argument> </arguments> </configuration> </plugin> <plugin> <groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId> <artifactId>maven-failsafe-plugin</artifactId> <version>2.12</version> <executions> <execution> <goals> <goal>integration-test</goal> <goal>verify</goal> </goals> </execution> </executions> <configuration> <forkMode>always</forkMode> </configuration> </plugin> </plugins> If I execute mvn post-integration-test, my application is getting started as a child process of the maven process, but the application process is blocking the maven process from executing the integration tests which comes in the next phase. Later I found that there is a bug (or missing functionality?) in maven exec plugin, because of which the application process blocks the maven process. To address this issue, I have encapsulated the invocation of MyApp.java in a shell script and then appended “/dev/null 2&1 &” to spawn a separate background process. Here is the snip (this is just a snip and not the actual one) from runTest.sh: java - DMY_APP_HOME =$2 com.foo.MyApp > /dev/null 2>&1 & Although this solves my issue, is there any other way to do it? Am I missing any argument for exec-maven-plugin?

  • Deploying a PHP Library project with Maven

    Hi, I've created a PHP Library project using Maven, and I'm now ready for its deployment. Following the instructions at http://www.php-maven.org/deploy.html, something went wrong. The configuration is set to: <descriptorRef>php-lib</descriptorRef> During the execution of mvn deploy I get a list of errors for unfound dependencies in the repository: [INFO] [jar:jar {execution: default-jar}] [INFO] Building jar: /home/marco/projects/php/my-app/target/my-app-1.0-SNAPSHOT.jar [INFO] [plugin:addPluginArtifactMetadata {execution: default-addPluginArtifactMetadata}] Downloading: http://repo1.php-maven.org/release/org/phpmaven/maven-php-plugin/2.2-beta-2/maven-php-plugin-2.2-beta-2.pom [INFO] Unable to find resource 'org.phpmaven:maven-php-plugin:pom:2.2-beta-2' in repository release-repo1.php-maven.org (http://repo1.php-maven.org/release) Downloading: http://repo1.maven.org/maven2/org/phpmaven/maven-php-plugin/2.2-beta-2/maven-php-plugin-2.2-beta-2.pom [INFO] Unable to find resource 'org.phpmaven:maven-php-plugin:pom:2.2-beta-2' in repository central (http://repo1.maven.org/maven2) Downloading: http://repo1.php-maven.org/release/org/phpmaven/maven-php-plugin/2.2-beta-2/maven-php-plugin-2.2-beta-2.pom [INFO] Unable to find resource 'org.phpmaven:maven-php-plugin:pom:2.2-beta-2' in repository release-repo1.php-maven.org (http://repo1.php-maven.org/release) Downloading: http://repo1.maven.org/maven2/org/phpmaven/maven-php-plugin/2.2-beta-2/maven-php-plugin-2.2-beta-2.pom [INFO] Unable to find resource 'org.phpmaven:maven-php-plugin:pom:2.2-beta-2' in repository central (http://repo1.maven.org/maven2) Downloading: http://repo1.php-maven.org/release/org/apache/maven/wagon/wagon-http-shared/1.0-beta-6/wagon-http-shared-1.0-beta-6.pom [INFO] Unable to find resource 'org.apache.maven.wagon:wagon-http-shared:pom:1.0-beta-6' in repository release-repo1.php-maven.org (http://repo1.php-maven.org/release) Downloading: http://repo1.php-maven.org/release/org/apache/maven/wagon/wagon-http-shared/1.0-beta-6/wagon-http-shared-1.0-beta-6.pom [INFO] Unable to find resource 'org.apache.maven.wagon:wagon-http-shared:pom:1.0-beta-6' in repository release-repo1.php-maven.org (http://repo1.php-maven.org/release) Downloading: http://repo1.maven.org/maven2/org/apache/maven/wagon/wagon-http-shared/1.0-beta-6/wagon-http-shared-1.0-beta-6.pom Downloading: http://repo1.php-maven.org/release/nekohtml/xercesMinimal/1.9.6.2/xercesMinimal-1.9.6.2.pom [INFO] Unable to find resource 'nekohtml:xercesMinimal:pom:1.9.6.2' in repository release-repo1.php-maven.org (http://repo1.php-maven.org/release) Downloading: http://repo1.php-maven.org/release/nekohtml/xercesMinimal/1.9.6.2/xercesMinimal-1.9.6.2.pom [INFO] Unable to find resource 'nekohtml:xercesMinimal:pom:1.9.6.2' in repository release-repo1.php-maven.org (http://repo1.php-maven.org/release) Downloading: http://repo1.maven.org/maven2/nekohtml/xercesMinimal/1.9.6.2/xercesMinimal-1.9.6.2.pom And this is my settings.xml file: <settings> <profiles> <profile> <id>profile-php-maven</id> <pluginRepositories> <pluginRepository> <id>release-repo1.php-maven.org</id> <name>PHP-Maven 2 Release Repository</name> <url>http://repo1.php-maven.org/release</url> <releases> <enabled>true</enabled> </releases> </pluginRepository> <pluginRepository> <id>snapshot-repo1.php-maven.org</id> <name>PHP-Maven 2 Snapshot Repository</name> <url>http://repo1.php-maven.org/snapshot</url> <releases> <enabled>false</enabled> </releases> <snapshots> <enabled>true</enabled> </snapshots> </pluginRepository> </pluginRepositories> <repositories> <repository> <id>release-repo1.php-maven.org</id> <name>PHP-Maven 2 Release Repository</name> <url>http://repo1.php-maven.org/release</url> <releases> <enabled>true</enabled> </releases> </repository> <repository> <id>snapshot-repo1.php-maven.org</id> <name>PHP-Maven 2 Snapshot Repository</name> <url>http://repo1.php-maven.org/snapshot</url> <releases> <enabled>false</enabled> </releases> <snapshots> <enabled>true</enabled> </snapshots> </repository> </repositories> </profile> </profiles> <activeProfiles> <activeProfile>profile-php-maven</activeProfile> </activeProfiles> </settings> For every step I've followed the documentation (which is poor, though). • Link Maven OSGi to Maven NetBeans Platform Project

    - by mxro
I am using NetBeans 6.9 Beta and I would like to accomplish the following: Set up a project representing the main application using Maven (for instance "Maven Project", "Maven NetBeans Application") Ideally, the project should only contain the necessary libraries to run in Apache Felix (I would like to be able to right-click the project and select "Run in Felix") I do not want that the project contains all the NetBean Platform APIs I would prefer to implement the modules using OSGi. For instance "Maven OSGi Bundle", "Maven NetBeans Module" + OSGi These are the problems, which I have at the moment: The standard Maven archetype ("Maven NetBeans Application") seems always to select all APIs and I have not found a way to deselect APIs - in normal NetBeans Platform Applications that can be accomplished by going to the project properties and deselected the platform modules) - I guess it has something to do with the NetBeans repository (http://bits.netbeans.org/maven2)? Do I have to create another repository? When creating normal "NetBeans Module" with OSGi support, the modules contain both NetBeans Module and OSGi meta data, which is nice. But the "Maven NetBeans Modules" have only NetBeans meta data and the Maven OSGi Bundles have only OSGi meta data). I figured out how to add modules to the project by using project / new and then placing the modules in the Maven project folder. However, I do not quite know yet how I could link to modules from other locations (NetBeans uses Maven modules, which have to be in the same directory as the project?). Below some useful links for Maven + OSGi in NetBeans wiki.netbeans.org/STS_69_Maven_OSGI NetBeans Maven OSGi Test Specification platform.netbeans.org/tutorials/nbm-maven-quickstart.html NetBeans Platform Quick Start Using Maven (6.9) wiki.netbeans.org/MavenBestPractices NetBeans Maven BestPractices maven.apache.org/pom.html#Aggregation Maven Documentation Multi-Module Projects (sorry about the missing protocol but couldn't post the message otherwise)

  • Maven error: Unable to get resource / Server redirected too many times

    - by tewe
Our proxy went down and I tried to update dependencies with maven while it was off. Since then I can't download anything with maven. I get this error for everything. I tried -U option, deleting my local repository and tried different maven version (2.0.9, 2.2.1) but it doesn't work. Any idea how to solve this? • How do I surpress maven assembly plugin skipping files that are already added? Or allow overwrite?

    - by gmale
Hello, For weeks, I've been wrestling with maven, getting it to deploy our project "properly." I'm almost done but I have one stubborn little problem: When I use the maven assembly plugin with the "directory" goal as in mvn assembly:directory I get LOTS of console output like the following: [INFO] tomcat/conf already added, skipping  [INFO] tomcat/conf/Catalina already added, skipping  [INFO] tomcat/conf/Catalina/localhost already added, skipping  [INFO] tomcat/webapps already added, skipping I've written my own assembly descriptor that basically copies several FileSets into various sub-directories within our deploy directory. Messages like the ones above appear whenever a file from one FileSet is being copied to a location in which another FileSet has already created the basic directory structure (and some "default" files that can be overwritten). So, I'm having a hard time figuring out: How do I either 1) Suppress these messages (but only the "already added" messages) or 2) allow for overwrite?

  • Confusion about maven-war-plugin and jetty-maven-plugin

    - by waxwing
I am trying to get the run-exploded goal of the jetty-maven-plugin to work correctly. I find the documentation somewhat lacking on what I need to do to set this up. I believe I have a standard WAR-file setup. (The reason I wrote "believe" is that I find the maven-war-plugin documentation lacking as well.) When I build my webapp using maven package, I get the following in my target folder: classes maven-archiver surefire-reports test-classes tmp mywebapp-version mywebapp-version.war where mywebapp-version is the exploded war and mywebapp-version.war is the packaged one. So far so good (I think?). Now, running mvn jetty:run-exploded, it seems the default deploy folder is target/tmp/webapp/mywebapp-version.war/. This folder exists, but contains no files except for a webapp-cache.xml. This seems wrong to me. I also tried to actively set the webApp configuration element to ${project.build.directory}/mywebapp-version/, but run-exploded seems to ignore it (despite the documentation stating otherwise). What am I doing wrong? It looks as if I am missing something simple since no one else appears to be running into the same problem.

  • Hudson + Jboss AS 7.1 + Maven 3 Project Build Error

    - by Zehra Gül Çabuk
I've wanted to prepare an environment that I'm able to build my project and run my tests on a integration server. So I've installed an Jboss application server 7.1 and deployed hudson.war to it. • Difference of maven jaxb plugins

    - by cuh
I have determined that two jaxb plugin for maven2 exist, with some different configurations. The one is from Sun: http://jaxb.dev.java.net/jaxb-maven2-plugin/ the other from Mojo: http://mojo.codehaus.org/jaxb2-maven-plugin/ Has anybody experience with these two plugins, and give a recommendation? Thanks Matt. On my little research project, i found that there's quit another plugin comming from the sunners: <groupId>com.sun.tools.xjc.maven2</groupId> <artifactId>maven-jaxb-plugin</artifactId> and that one: <groupId>org.jvnet.jaxb2.maven2</groupId> <artifactId>maven-jaxb2-plugin</artifactId> and still the one from Codehouse.

  • Debugging in Maven?

    - by aduric
Is it possible to launch a debugger such as jdb from maven? I have a pom.xml file that compiles the project successfully. However, the program hangs somewhere and I would really like to launch jdb or an equivalent debugger to see what's happening. I compile using mvn compile and launch using: mvn exec:java -Dexec.mainClass="com.mycompany.app.App" I was expecting something like: mvn exec:jdb -Dexec.mainClass="com.mycompany.app.App" to launch the debugger but, as usual, my expectations are incongruent with maven's philosophy. Also, I couldn't find any documentation (on Maven's website or google) to describe how debugging works. I suspect that I have to use some plugin.

  • What are the advantages of Maven when it comes to single man, educational projects

    - by Leron
I've spend a few hours playing around with Maven + reading some stuff on the apache official site and also a few random googled articles. By this I mean that I really tried to find the answers myself - both by reading and by doing things on my own. Also maybe worth to mention that I installed the m2e plugin so most of the time I've tried things out from Eclipse and not using the command line too much. However aside from the generated project that for example prevent me from using the default package I didn't see that much of a difference with the standard way I've created my projects before try Maven. In fact I've almost decided to skip Maven for now and move on to the other technology I wanted to learn more in-depth - Hibernate, but when I start with opening the official page the first thing I've read was the recommendation to use Hibernate with Maven. That get me confused and made me taking a step back and trying once more to find what I'm obviously missing right now. As it's said in the maven.apache.. site, the true strength of Maven is shown when you work on large projects with other people, but I lack the option to see how Maven is really used in this scenario, still i think that there are maybe advantages even when it comes to working with small projects alone, but I really have difficulties to point them out. So what do you think are the advantages of Maven when it's used for small projects writing from a single person. What are the things that I should be aware of and try to exploit (I mean features offered by Maven) that can come in handy in this situations?

  • Maven Assembly Plugin - install the created assembly

    - by Walter White
I have a project that simply consists of files. I want to package those files into a zip and store them in a maven repository. I have the assembly plugin configured to build the zip file and that part works just fine, but I cannot seem to figure out how to install the zip file? Also, if I want to use this assembly in another artifact, how would I do that? I am intending on calling dependency:unpack, but I don't have an artifact in the repository to unpack. How can I get a zip file to be in my repository so that I may re-use it in another artifact? parent pom <build> <plugins> <plugin> <!--<groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId>--> <artifactId>maven-assembly-plugin</artifactId> <version>2.2-beta-5</version> <configuration> <filters> <filter></filter> </filters> <descriptors> <descriptor>../packaging.xml</descriptor> </descriptors> </configuration> </plugin> </plugins> </build> Child POM <parent> <groupId>com. ... .virtualHost</groupId> <artifactId>pom</artifactId> <version>0.0.1</version> <relativePath>../pom.xml</relativePath> </parent> <name>Virtual Host - ***</name> <groupId>com. ... .virtualHost</groupId> <artifactId>***</artifactId> <version>0.0.1</version> <packaging>pom</packaging> I filtered the name out. Is this POM correct? I just want to bundle files for a particular virtual host together. Thanks, Walter
