  • Is that possible using "setAutoresizingMask" to make the view autoresizing after hiding/showing navi

    I am doing this with the following: [[self navigationController] setNavigationBarHidden:YES animated:YES]; and also I didn't use IB to create view objects. But my view did not auto-resize after hiding navigation bar(there was a blank area where the navigation bar used to be) I am wondering if I could make it auto-resize only by "setAutoresizingMask", or do I have to use some hand-writing animation stuff?

    Hi, Hoping someone can assist but I need assistance with overlaying one individual div over another individual div, i.e. my code looks like this: <div class="navi"></div> <div id="infoi"><img src="info_icon2.png" height="20" width="32"/></div> Unfortunately I cannot nest the infoi div or img inside the first div (class navi) - it has to be two separate divs as shown but I need to know how I could place the img div over the first div (navi) and to the right most side and centered on top of the navi div.   • Software development company business plan

    I apologize in advance if this is the wrong forum for this question, so please forward me to the right place. I have about 10 years professional experience as software developer. Mostly on the Java platform doing server side programs. I have picked up a bit of Linux skills on the way as well. I know HTML and Javascript, so I can make a website that would not be too ugly, but I am not going to win any prizes with it. In fact I think I am pretty terrible in the user interface department. My initial plan is to do Android development. I read a few Android books and tried making a few apps. Since it is Java based I think I got the technical side down. Lately I have been thinking about iphone and Mac development, because of the relevant app store/development programs. The trouble is I don't know Objective C. As a side question, how long would it take me to become proficient in Objective C? Considering that I am working on my own and could hire somebody to help me for a short time for low wages if necessary what are my options? What are the pro and cons of the development programs app stores of Android and Apple? Which development/app stores are out there beside the ones I mentioned? Do you think it is necessary to find funds to get me started or should I just use my savings? If you have positive/negative experiences in a similar situations can you please share them?     I have read about NSPasteBoard in the Apple documentation, and how it allows for applications to write into the PasteBoard and allow other applications to read that text and use it. Could someone tell me how to paste text from am application (that sits in the status bar) into a NSTextField that is inside a different application. What I am trying to do is something similar what Snippet and SnippetsApp do. If I am completely stupid and missed the obvious in Apple Docs, could you please point me to the right path :) Thanks!

  • When I ping Internet addresses like yahoo or Google, I get 2 reply packets and 2 lost packets.

    I have Airtel broadband and a Tata broadband connection. i have around 50 PCs connecting through an airtel broadband connection. Both are dsl connections with my phone line going into dsl modems and an Ethernet cable going from dsl modem directly into a switch. Currently, only airtel connection is connected with static IP on my private lan and using the airtel ISP DNS servers as DNS IP address and the default gateway is 192.168.1.1 (IP add. of the dsl modem). All PCs are connected in a work group. When in full use, my users complain of certain web pages are not opening. When I ping Internet addresses like Yahoo or Google I get 2 reply packets and 2 lost packets. I suspect that a single broadband connection is not able to sustain 50 simultaneous downloads/browsing. Is there any device which connect to both DSL and make one line so that its give me high speed simultaneous browsing. Help needed urgently. Thank you all to those who reply.

  • Technology vs. Antiquated Methods

    So Here I am talking with my Program lead, about technology, and how while my father is the VP of a major company, he still doesn't have a blackberry, or a smart phone. and I think it's funny. Most people would say it's a generational thing. That because he's older, he dosen't accept technology, and that's why. I have trouble swallowing that because this is the same man, who bought a satellite radio for his car, and made sure that the printer for the house was networked so that his and my mom's laptop could print wirelessly from the living room through their wireless network. I think it has to do with more with necessity, and partially with finical responsibility. My father is very financially conciencious. Think about it yourself. you pay for internet at your home. You have internet access at your office. But if you get a smart phone you're going to pay almost the same amount just for that access. A lot of people take it as just another fixed cost... I'm one of those. I don't even think about it, as I check my facebook from the bus, train, or even while sitting in traffic... The convience of having connection everywhere outweigh the financial responsible person screaming at in the back of my mind. However This conversation lead us to another venue of discussion.... what happens when the power dies. if you left your charger at home, or you phone or navi just stops working... are you going to be able to continue on as you did when it was working... let take the navi as an example... if your navi stops working, how many of you know how to use a map, and navigate? can you even find where you are on a map using the cross streets that your stopped at? This is a skill that unfortunatelly is overlooked these days in the child rearing process. Most people don't see the value, while some others can't do it themselves, so how can they teach their offspring? Take another example.... what if your phone gets lost... or stolen, or you drive over it? do you have the numbers in their memorized? are they recorded somewhere? I know that if it weren't for google sync I wouldn't have them backed up... not sufficiently. And what good does that do if you're in timbuckto and your phone dies, think you can get on the internet to look up those numbers? Don't get me wrong. I'm the first to see the value in technology, and am willing to pay the price to not have to wait for prices to come down. I will pay extra to have that newest thing right now. but let me tell you what.... I know that should I ever procreate it will be a requirement for my offspring (children) to learn how to do something manually before I'll let them use technology. Food for thought?? Let everyone else know what you think.... just sayin'

  • In Seam what's the difference between injected EntityManager and getEntityManager from EntityHome

    I am testing a Seam application using the needle test API. In my code I am using the getEntityManager() method from EntityHome. When I run the unit tests against an in memory database I get the following exception: java.lang.IllegalStateException: No application context active at org.jboss.seam.Component.forName(Component.java:1945) at org.jboss.seam.Component.getInstance(Component.java:2005) at org.jboss.seam.Component.getInstance(Component.java:1983) at org.jboss.seam.Component.getInstance(Component.java:1977) at org.jboss.seam.Component.getInstance(Component.java:1972) at org.jboss.seam.framework.Controller.getComponentInstance(Controller.java:272) at org.jboss.seam.framework.PersistenceController.getPersistenceContext(PersistenceController.java:20) at org.jboss.seam.framework.EntityHome.getEntityManager(EntityHome.java:177) etc .. I can resolve some of these errors by injecting the EntityManager with @In EntityManager entityManager; Unfortunately the persist method of EntityHome also calls the getEntityManager. This means a lot of mocks or rewriting the code somehow. Is there any workaround and why is this exception thrown anyway? I am using Seam 2.2.0 GA by the way. There is nothing special about the components. They are generated by seam-gen. The test is performed with in memory database - I followed the examples in http://jbosscc-needle.sourceforge.net/jbosscc-needle/1.0/db-util.html.

  • The Value of SOA Specialization - Fujitsu

    Thanks for the nice ink The Value of Specialization In my last post  I talked about Fujitsu's achievement in obtaining SOA and other specializations, but I have heard murmurings from other partners about what just is the value? I think Oracle have to do more to advertise the benefits to customers, we need to see customers asking for specialization for it to really work, but Oracle have made great promises about only recommending those partners who are specialized. For us there was another benefit. Oracle was sponsoring the 3rd Annual SOA Symposium in Berlin and invited us as their first specialized partner to take part. There is a great blog about the symposium on the SOA community blog site. This is real commitment from Oracle and we have other marketing opportunities being worked on with Jürgen. This does generate leads so my message to other Oracle Partners is, you need to do this, it is worthwhile.   Fujitsu - First SOA Specialized Partner Globally Just before Oracle Open World I found out that Fujitsu had achieved the first SOA Specialization globally. I think most partners know what the requirements are for Specialization and that in itself is challenging but the bureaucracy around the actual submission is an exercise in tenacity. I won’t go into that now; I have had my dig at Oracle this month, but enough to say the process could be improved. As a platinum partner we needed 5 specializations and we decided to go for SOA first. The reasoning behind this is that our Oracle Practice is known for being applications centric. We have always had an excellent technical capability but no one ever talked about that, it was just part and parcel of an implementation. However today we have just as many bids that are technology lead as there is applications lead, so it seemed a good plan to work on the areas we were not known for. We appointed a capability lead to be responsible for putting the team through the training and testing and Rosemary (Kell) was excellent, she ensured that everyone was on track and that it wasn’t just getting put into the ‘to do list’. In Fujitsu everyone in the Oracle Practice has an objective to achieve the competency tests in their area, so achieving the 2 pre sales, 2 sales and 1 support was no problem at all. We actually had 22 with the support capability proficiency.  The implementation specialist exams are much harder, more like OCP in the database area. We had help from the Oracle SOA Community; Jürgen Kress who runs this in EMEA is really motivational. At the time we started SOA was a beta exam which means you do not get the results immediately but again we put forward more than we needed. Manjit Chopra, Sukhraj Sahota, Emely Patra, Ian Scorrer and Sunny Sidhu all took the exam and eventually got the results they wanted they had passed. Congratulations. Here is Jurgen expalining why specialization is important. After the tests came the submissions where you need to include deals and experience, this was my bit, and persuading Oracle we really deserved the specialization. Finally we got the news we had been awarded the specialization, and a few days later that we were first globally. I am very proud. However there is no rest for the wicked and we plodded on to make the 5 specializations needed for Platinum and now we are working on the new Diamond status and I think SOA will be one of our 5 ‘super specializations’. This is a global Fujitsu initiative and I work closely with my colleague in Germany Jessika Weiss. It was nice to be able to have a press release about this and a comment from Judson Althoff  head of Oracle Alliances.     My "Page [0]" text isn't centered on my webpage. Anyone know why? I could really use some help please.   • Make two page navigations on top ang bottom of a list

    I'm creating a simple PHP page that reads CSV file content and display some selected columns to users in pages Currently, I'm reading each line and display it immediately. Because of this method, I only know total of lines after finishing reading entire file( searching in file also). What I want is displaying two page navigations on the top and bottom of the list. Like this: Page 1|2|3|4 Field 1|Field 2|Field 3|Field 4|Field 5....|Field n Row1 Row2 .... Rown Page 1|2|3|4 After displaying all rows, bottom page nav, I used jquery function: insertBefore to insert another page navi to the top. Problems are: 1) Top page nav not displayed in IE8 but displayed ater pressing F5(worked in FF, Chrome). 2) Using insertBefore function, the top page nav is suddenly poppep up afer displaying the bottom one. It doesn't look naturally Any suggestion?
