  • ksh Auto-Completion PuTTY Configuration

    I'm having a bit of a problem configuring my PuTTY client to work with the auto-completion feature in the ksh shell. I do a listing on the root with the directories /home and /homeroot and it returns the directories in a list just fine. I can't select it, though, by hitting X = (where X is the number). /home/nitrodist>ls /h #hits esc + = 1) home/ 2) homeroot/ #hits 2 + = for the 'homeroot' dir 1) home/ 2) homeroot/ #hits just the '=' key. 1) home/ 2) homeroot/ Any ideas? I've su -'d to another user who can actually do it with their PuTTY session and I can't do it there, which makes me think it's a PuTTY configuration issue. This is running on a ksh93 shell on HP-UX, if that makes any difference. Here's my ksh config: /home/campbelm>set -o Current option settings allexport off bgnice on emacs off errexit off gmacs off ignoreeof off interactive on keyword off markdirs off monitor on noexec off noclobber off noglob off nolog off notify off nounset off privileged off restricted off trackall off verbose off vi on viraw on xtrace off /home/campbelm>

  • Specifying Multiplicity in a Visio Database (ERD) Diagram

    Is there a way to manually edit the cardinality/multiplicity symbols on the end of a database ERD made in Visio? The category I'm using is in Visio 2003 under Database -> Database Model Diagram I want to be able to go from something like this: To this: The second graphic was done by manually adding the numbers, but I would prefer to just do it in Visio. Is there any way of accomplishing this?

  • Comma comes up instead of single quote with single quote key in MS-Word 2007

    I have a peculiar problem in Microsoft Office 2007 (Word). When I am using single quotes, the first time I type a ' it appears as a , instead. For example, typing ''' translates to ,'' in Word, necessitating me to go back and delete the comma so that I can correctly single-quote words. Is there a solution to this? Also, the dictionary was set to German when I first started using the application, but I set it to US English after that.

  • Creating Arrows Easily for Images

    I'm looking for a plugin or something along those lines for creating arrows for an image I'm working on. Basically it's just a screenshot of some software, but I want to annotate it and have arrows on it pointing to the various components. It should look something like this or even something simpler. The problem is that there doesn't seem to be an easy, free way of creating good arrows for any of the screenshots, short of importing actual images of arrows! I prefer to use: GIMP Paint.NET Other free software (beer or freedom, whichever) What are my alternatives? I really want to stay away from Photoshop on this. Thanks.

  • Bang Notation and Dot Notation in VBA and MS-Access

    While perusing an application that I'm documenting, I've run across some examples of bang notation in accessing object properties/methods, etc. and in other places they use dot notation for what seems like the same purpose. Is there a difference or preference to using one or the other? Some simple googling only reveals limited information on the subject with some people actually using it in opposite cases. Perhaps there is a coding standards section from MS somewhere that indicates the method of madness?

  • Invoices for Printing in MS-Access

    The application that I'm currently working on has a funky set up for the invoices that they print. The form is the invoice that is printed out. I took a look at the Northwind DB and what it does is and it actually generates a report based on the record's information. What are the limitations of using Forms vs. Reports for printing out reports? One of the limitations that I've run into so far is that the printed page is jam packed with information (all required) to fit on a single page, yet there is lots of wasted space for some stuff since elements on the page don't shrink or grow due to what's inputted into the textboxes. How are invoices designed for your applications? How do you handle space restraints for creating invoices?

  • Documenting a Access Application for Developers

    I need to document a MS-Access application that was created, developed and maintained completely by a power-user over 10 years. This is an interesting situation because what they want is a manual so that a future developer can come in without prior domain knowledge and make changes to the frontend or the backend in a timely manner. There are a few questions on my mind for this little project: What is a good manual design creating application? Microsoft Word doesn't quite cut it. What kind of things would you, the developer, need to know in order to make changes to things like forms, reports, tables or other Access objects? Anything else I missed? Any pitfalls?
