  • Facebook og:url ignored in favour of a Facebook hosted page about the og entity

    - by Dan
I am trying to implement the Like button on my pages. Those pages represent the review page for a product. When a user Likes the page, it shows up in Facebook (not as a link, but as liking an entity), however when you click on the entity in Facebook it links through to a facebook.com hosted page representing the page. I want the user to be redirected to the og:url page? This happens for example when you Like an artist page on Grroveshar: http://grooveshark.com/#!/artist/Elbow/4795 I am clearly "doing it wrong". I am using the following markup to include the SDK. MYAPPID is included by the code generator Facebook provides so I assume it is required. <div id="fb-root"></div> <script>(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1&appId=MYAPPID"; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));</script> Then my code to render the Like button. <div class="fb-like" data-send="false" data-width="450" data-show-faces="true"></div> And finally my og tags: <meta property="og:title" content="My product" /> <meta property="og:type" content="product" /> <meta property="og:url" content="http://site.com/product_1/" /> <meta property="og:image" content="http://site.com/image1.jpg" /> <meta property="og:site_name" content="My-Site-Name.com" /> <meta property="fb:admins" content="MYFACEBOOKID" /> <meta property="fb:app_id" content="MYAPPID" /> Thanks!

  • facebook og:image not working [closed]

    - by zeinab
When I try to post a comment (share link) on an article from my page which is actually a page I am using as an application in Facebook: https://apps.facebook.com/ids_newsletter/, Facebook chooses the feed thumbnail image of the post feed randomly from my page. I tried using below to put a custom image for the post but nothing affected the post thumbnail. So what should I do? <meta property="og:title" content="IDS June Newsletter" /> <meta property="og:description" content="Check this out" /> <meta property="og:image" content="MYSITEURL/Images/logobig.png" /> <meta property="og:image:type" content="image/png" /> <meta property="og:image:width" content="200" /> <meta property="og:image:height" content="200" />

  • TechEd 2012: Dude Where&rsquo;s My Azure

    - by Tim Murphy
It has been a fun first morning at TechEd North America.  They keynote was both informative and entertaining.  Some of the high points included a walk through of Windows Server 2012 and its new Hyper-V capabilities and use of ODX (offloaded data transfer).  Between seeing stats like being able to being able run a Hyper-V VM with 1TB of memory and watching ODX move a 10GB file at a rate of 1GB per second was really impressive. The fun started when Scott Guthrie was doing his keynote demo and popped up an iPhone emulator from Visual Studio.  There is just something wrong with that picture and the WPDev community agreed.  This was followed by an iPad emulator and by that time the groans across Twitter were rolling. Later in the morning The Gu kept us laughing in the Azure Foundations session when he name a server Dude (I believe a suggestion from the crowd).  After that I thought I was watching the turtle in Finding Nemo.  Duuuuude! In the expo area the line for the Windows Phone booth was ridiculous.  Granted this is a Microsoft event and is sure to be full of MS fan boys, but the only other time I have seen that much enthusiasm for Windows Phones in one place was on the flight down. I am sure there will be a lot more to get excited about over the next few days.  Stay tuned. del.icio.us Tags: TechEd 2012,TechEd North America,Windows Phone,Azure,Scott Guthrie

  • FACEBOOK LINTER ERROR: value for property 'og:image:url' could not be parsed as type 'url'

    - by Martin Devarda
I've read all threads in stack overflow about this issue, but my problem persists. THE PROBLEM IS ON THIS PAGE: http://www.organirama.it/minisite-demo/001.html THE PAGE CONTAINS THIS TAGS <meta property="og:title" content="A wonderful page" /> <meta property="og:type" content="video.movie" /> <meta property="og:url" content="http://www.organirama.com/minisite-demo/001.html" /> <meta property="og:image" content="http:/www.organirama.com/minisite-demo/photos-small/001.png" /> <meta property="og:site_name" content="Organirama"/> <meta property="fb:admins" content="1468447924"/> LINTER ERROR Object at URL 'http://www.organirama.com/minisite-demo/001.html' of type 'video.movie' is invalid because the given value 'http:/www.organirama.com/minisite-demo/photos-small/001.png' for property 'og:image:url' could not be parsed as type 'url'. WHAT I DISCOVERED The problem seems somehow related to the domain. Infact, if I make og:image point to another image on another domain, everything works.

  • How to successfully implement og:image for the LinkedIn

    - by Sabo
THE PROBLEM: I am trying, without much success, to implement open graph image on site: http://www.guarenty-group.com/cz/ The homepage is completeply bypassing the og:image tag, where internal pages are reading all images from the site and place og:image as the last option. Other social networks are working fine on both internal pages and homepage. THE CONFIGURATION: I have no share buttons or alike, all I want is to be able to share the link via my profile. The image is well over 300x300px: http://guarenty-group.com/img/gg_seal.png Here is how my head tag looks like: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Guarenty Group : Pojištení pro nájemce a pronajímatelé</title> <meta name="keywords" content="" /> <meta name="description" content="Guarenty Group pojištuje príjem z nájmu pronajímatelum, kauci nájemcum - aby nemuseli platit velkou cástku v hotovostí predem - a dále nájemcum pojištuje príjmy, aby meli na nájem pri nemoci, úrazu ci nezamestnání." /> <meta name="image_src" content="http://guarenty-group.com/img/gg_seal.png" /> <meta name="image_url" content="http://guarenty-group.com/img/gg_seal.png" /> <meta property="og:title" content="Pojištení pro nájemce a pronajímatelé" /> <meta property="og:url" content="http://guarenty-group.com/cz/" /> <meta property="og:image" content="http://guarenty-group.com/img/gg_seal.png" /> <meta property="og:description" content="Guarenty Group pojištuje príjem z nájmu pronajímatelum, kauci nájemcum - aby nemuseli platit velkou cástku v hotovostí predem - a dále nájemcum pojištuje príjmy, aby meli na nájem pri nemoci, úrazu ci nezamestnání [...]" /> ... </head> THE TESTING RESULTS: In order to trick the cache i have tested the site with http://www.guarenty-group.com/cz/?try=N, where I have changed the N every time. The strange thing is that images found for different value of N is different. Sometimes there is no image, sometimes there is 1, 2 or 3 images, but each time there is a different set of images. But, in any case I could not find the image specified in the og:graph! MY QUESTIONS: https://developer.linkedin.com/documents/setting-display-tags-shares is saying one thing, and the personnel on the support forum is saying "over 300" Does anyone know What is the official minimum dimension of the image (both w and h)? Can an image be too large? Should I use the xmlns, should I not use xmlns or it doesn't matter? What are the maximum (and minimum) lengths for og:title and og:description tags? Any other suggestion is of course welcomed :) Thanks in advance, cheers~

  • Dude, what’s up with POP Forums vNext?

    - by Jeff
Yeah, it has been awhile. I posted v9.2 back in January, about five months ago. That’s a real change from the release pace I had there for awhile. Let me explain what’s going on. First off, in the interim, I re-launched CoasterBuzz, which required a lot of my attention for about two of those months. That’s a good thing though, because that site is just about the best test bed I could ask for. The other thing is that I committed to make the next version use ASP.NET MVC 4, which is now at the RC stage. I didn’t think much about when they’d hit their RTW point, but RC is good enough for me. To that end, there is enough change in the next version that I recently decided to make it a major version upgrade, and finish up the loose ends and science projects to make it whole. Here’s what’s in store… Mobile views: I sat on this or a long time. Originally, I was going to use jQuery Mobile, and waited and waited for a new release, but in the end, decided against using it. Sometimes buttons would unexplainably not work, I felt like I was fighting it at times, and the CSS just felt too heavy. I rolled my own mobile sugar at a fraction of the size, and I think you’ll find it easy to modify. And it’s Metro-y, of course! Re-do of background services: A number of things run in the background, and I did quite a bit of “reimagining” of that code. It’s the weirdness of running services in a Web site context, because so many folks can’t run a bona fide service on their host’s box. The biggest change here is that these service no longer start up by default. You’ll need to call a new method from global.asax called PopForumsActivation.StartServices(). This is also a precursor to running the app in a Web farm (new data layer and caching is the second part of that). I learned about this the hard way when I had three apps using the forum library code but only one was actually the forum. The services were all running three times as often with race conditions and hits on the same data. That was particularly bad for e-mail. CSS clean up: It’s still not ideal, but it’s getting better. That’s one of those things that comes with integrating to a real site… you discover all of the dumb things you did. The mobile CSS is particularly easier to live with. Bug fixes: There are a whole lot of them. Most were minor, but it’s feeling pretty solid now. So that’s where I am. I’m going to call it v10.0, and I’m going to really put forth some effort toward finishing the mobile experience and getting through the remaining bugs. The roadmap beyond that will likely not be feature oriented, but rather work on some other things, like making it run in Azure, perhaps using SQL CE, a better install experience, etc. As usual, I’ll post the latest here. Stay tuned!

  • Dude, where is my list instance?

    - by MOSSLover
I saw an MSDN Forum post today, so I looked for a ListInstance Hidden property in SharePoint 2007 features.  There is none, but interestingly enough there is one in 2010.  I wondered what would happen if you did this: <Elements xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/">   <ListInstance            FeatureId="00bfea71-de22-43b2-a848-c05709900100"            Title="Hidden List Test"            Description="Testing a hidden list."            TemplateType="100"            Hidden="TRUE"            OnQuickLaunch="FALSE"            Url="Lists/TestHidden" /> </Elements> It hides the entire list from SharePoint Designer and the browser, however you can hit the list by typing in the url in internet explorer.  Pretty cool stuff.  Enjoy guys. • Meta tag og:title inside Facebook Application is ignored

    - by Militaru
I have a Facebook Application with an iframe based canvas that contains a like button (also iframe), in the head of my iframe i've specified the standard meta tags (og:title, og:url, og:site_name) and they seem to work fine (the information is displayed correctly in the profile wall) except for the title. I've tested various links of the app with the Facebook URL Linter and the ug:title tag is ignored completly. Have any of you had any trouble with the open graph tags inside facebook applications? Any ideeas are apreciated, thanks.

  • Facebook og:image

    - by Roderick Standaart
So i have a problem with the facebook og:image. site: http://images.vallo-app.com/4db279b31df280b/ if people use this link to show their image, its no problem, facebook loads the og:image But it is used in an iPhone App, so people make a picture and get a shortened url of bit.ly back and then they can post it. So if you post it, facebook juts doesn't show the preview of the image, but if you post that shortened bit.ly link on facebook.com in the statusupdate it does. Someone know what the problem is?

  • How do I set an og:type for the first time without losing likes?

    - by Travis
When I first created my site, I neglected to add the Open Graph tags that Facebook recommends (http://developers.facebook.com/docs/opengraph/), and the site now has about 1200 Facebook likes through a fb:comments widget. http://graph.facebook.com/http://feedtheanimalssamples.com/ shows this: { "id": "http://feedtheanimalssamples.com/", "shares": 1204 } Recently, I've added added the following OG tags: <meta property="fb:app_id" content="59193243341" /> <meta property="og:title" content="Girl Talk - Feed The Animals Samples (old)" /> <meta property="og:image" content="http://feedtheanimalssamples.com/fta_small.png" /> <meta property="og:url" content="http://feedtheanimalssamples.com" /> But when I add the og:type tag: <meta property="og:type" content="website" /> and Lint the site, I lose all my likes. http://graph.facebook.com/http://feedtheanimalssamples.com/ starts showing this: { "id": "170545342993850", "name": "Girl Talk - Feed The Animals Samples", "picture": "http://profile.ak.fbcdn.net/hprofile-ak-snc4/188039_170545342993850_3277642_s.jpg", "link": "http://www.facebook.com/pages/Girl-Talk-Feed-The-Animals-Samples/170545342993850", "category": "Website", "website": "http://feedtheanimalssamples.com/", "description": "Interactively identifies the samples in the 2008 album 'Feed The Animals' by mashup artist Girl Talk.", "likes": 1 } (Note the "likes": 1.) So: How do I set the og:type without losing my likes? I'm trying to let my likers know that I've created a new and improved site. I'm following the instuctions at http://developers.facebook.com/blog/post/397 under "Publishing to Connected Users via Graph API", but using that API apparently requires specifying an og:type. Thanks!

  • Web User Control og Event

    - by Mcoroklo
I have a web user control, CreateQuestion.ascx, in ASP.NET. I want an event "QuestionAdded" to fire when a specific button is clicked. I don't want to send any data, I just want to know WHEN the button is fired. My implementation: CreateQuestion.ascx: public event EventHandler QuestionAdded; protected virtual void OnQuestionAdded(EventArgs e) { if (QuestionAdded != null) QuestionAdded(this, e); } /// This is the button I want to know when is fired protected void SubmitButton_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { //question.Save(); this.OnQuestionAdded(new EventArgs()); } On the page AnswerQuestion.aspx, I use this: private void SetupControls(int myId) { CreateQuestionControl.QuestionAdded += new EventHandler(QuestionAdded); } private void QuestionAdded(object sender, EventArgs e) { Response.Write("HEJ KARL?"); } My problem No matter what, the event is never fired. I know that both SetupControls() is being run, and the code behind the button which should fire the event is run. When I debug, I can see the event QuestionAdded always are null. How do I make this work? Thanks a lot

I got this error: Comparison between a value with static type Array and a possibly unrelated type Class. After i modify the class to many classes (before that, everything is on 1 class (all of the functions)), but after i move everything to many classes (all the functions is not on 1 class), that error appear. How to solve this? I am using AS3 and as3isolib Library. - by AaronBertrand
This month's T-SQL Tuesday is being hosted by Brad Schulz ( blog ) and the topic is one that should attract a lot of submissions: Procedures and Functions. Last week, I talked about the case against INFORMATION_SCHEMA views - I provided several examples where I feel the INFORMATION_SCHEMA views fall short of the catalog views, and expressed my belief that you are better off programming consistently against the catalog views all the time, instead of only when the INFORMATION_SCHEMA views fail. Having...(read more)
