  • Kamal Osman Jamjoom on deploying Oracle Retail solutions

    - by user801960
Kamal Osman Jamjoom Group (KOJ) is one of the most established retail groups in the Middle East operating over 500 stores, six franchise brands and two highly successful private labels. KOJ’s Chief Financial Officer and Group Financial Director, Richard Winsor, recently presented at the Oracle Retail Industry Day in Dubai and took some time to share with us his experiences of implementing and using Oracle Retail. Having first gone live with Oracle Retail in March 2008, KOJ has used, upgraded and added to their Oracle Retail foundation, most recently deploying Oracle Retail Planning applications. The business has seen strong benefits around consistency of data, low integration costs and scalability, particularly in supporting its rapid expansion programme around the region. Take a look at Richard’s advice for retailers looking to deploy Oracle Retail and how they can benefit from the KOJ implementation programme.

  • How can I build the best Cyber Cafe possible using Ubuntu (Desktop or the Server Edition)?

    - by Osman Hassan
My question has to do with my plan/dream of opening a Cyber Cafe in Mogadishu, Somalia, my birth place. I plan to use 5 to 15 computers (all laptops) running Ubuntu. Now that you have the background to my question, I need your help, advice and expertise. What type of computer (laptop) should I use for this project? What type of operating system (Ubuntu Desktop/Ubuntu Server Edition) should I use? How can I setup a file and printer sharing server? What program should I use to manage the client computers? If you have done this before and can point me to the best and easiest way to build this Cyber Cafe, I would appreciate it tremendously. Also, if you can point me to any books, articles, or blogs which I should read, I would appreciate it too.

  • Retrieving an RSA key from a running instance of Apache?

    - by Nathan Osman
I created an RSA keypair for an SSL certificate and stored the private key in /etc/ssl/private/server.key. Unfortunately this was the only copy of the private key that I had. Then I accidentally overwrote the file on disk (yes, I know). Apache is still running and still serving SSL requests, leading me to believe that there may be hope in recovering the private key. (Perhaps there is a symbolic link somewhere in /proc or something?) This server is running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.

  • Fast user switching is logging users off instead of switching users

    - by Nathan Osman
I have a netbook running Windows 8.1 Pro that will no longer allow more than one user to be logged in at the same time. The steps necessary to reproduce this are as follows: The current user presses WIN to bring up the start screen. The user clicks his name in the corner and a list of other users appears. As soon as one of the other names is clicked, the user is unceremoniously logged off without any prompts. This behavior seems to have started some time after upgrading to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8. Before that point, everything worked fine and more than one user could be logged in at the same time. I've tried searching for others experiencing similar problems but this appears to be unique. System Details: CPU: Intel Atom N455 @ 1.66 GHz RAM: 1 GB OS: Windows 8.1 Pro w/ Media Center 32-bit

  • Why can't I change the domain when connecting to network shares in Windows 8?

    - by Nathan Osman
I have a computer running Windows 8.1 Pro. I also have Ubuntu 12.04.3 Server running within Hyper-V on the same machine. The Ubuntu server has Samba installed. Both the host and guest OS are connected to the workgroup WORKGROUP. When I open up "Network" in Windows 8.1 and attempt to connect to the server (both by name and IP address), I receive the following prompt: Entering the correct username and password for an account on the server fails. /etc/samba/smb.conf has the following share definitions set: [homes] comment = Home Directories browseable = no

  • Booting off windows image through network

    - by Mr. Sir King Osman
I have a HP st5742, which is a tower that does not have a hard drive and I am trying to boot it off the network, preferably off an image. It was designed along with the program HP Image Manager, however this program has been discontinued by HP and I can not seem to find a way to get a copy. If this helps, I am running my network with windows server 2008 R2 and would like the streaming client to be running windows. I have spent days searching for a way to deploy this machine however I can not seem to find a straight forward program, guide, or way to do this. I am new to this sort of thing but I willing to reading into the subject, all I need is a point in the right direction. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • gcc compiling error on Solaris 10

    - by osman toker
I want to compile a source code, but there are some compiling errors about __sync_xxx functions (__sync_bool_compare_and_swap etc.) GCC version on machine is 3.4.3 (it must be gcc 4.1 or over for supporting atomic builtins), so I have downloaded GCC v4.6, copied it to another directory (I didn't remove v3.4.3) then change the $PATH path for GCC but it doesn't work (the same error occurs). I want to ask that is only changing gcc path with export PATH=... enough for compiling with new GCC?
