  • Autocomplete functionality on a textarea

    - by sslepian
    Is there a way to implement auto-complete functionality in a region defined by textarea tags or something similar? I'm currently using a jquery autocomplete plugin to suggest input to the user inside input tags, but the issue is that the autocomplete phrases can often be fairly long and thus scroll off the edge of the input field.

  • Include OpenX ad in a jquery-ui dialog?

    - by planetclaire
    I'm loading some content into a jquery-ui dialog via .ajax. That's all working fine but now I've been given an OpenX ad to embed into the dialog & can't figure out how to do it. I know all the script is stripped when coming in via ajax, & I know how to use $.getScript to load .js files for use in the dialog, but the OpenX ad script I've got uses document.write so I think it's expecting to be embedded inline into the desired position on the page. I've tried appending the escaped script string into the div on ajax success of the main content as below, but this results in the page being redirected to a page with just the ad on it. Attempt shown below: $("#" + idHelpPage).find(".adScript").append("<script type='text/javascript'>var m3_u = (location.protocol=='https:'?'https://d1.openx.org/ajs.php':'http://d1.openx.org/ajs.php');var m3_r = ... etc etc I'm ok with jquery but not great with javascript, would really appreciate any help! Also if you want to see any other code.

  • jQuery UI resizable : auto height when using east handle alone

    - by z33m
    i have a jqueryui re-sizable div. I want only the width to be re-sizable and the height to remain auto, so that the div grows or shrinks with the content. If i set it to display only the east handle and use css height:auto, after resize the height also gets set even though only the width changed. I have to set the height to auto on resize event everytime like so: resize: function(event, ui) { $(this).css('height', 'auto'); } to prevent the height from being set. Is there a better way to prevent the height from getting set when only the east handle is used?

  • IE7 Jquery UI Sortable problem

    - by Qwibble
    Hey guys, I'm using Jquery UI sortable in my current project to make boxes drag and drop-able into new columns. It works in all modern browsers apart from ie7, in which you can drag and drop, but when you drop, it completely ruins the content of the box you're dropping. I've sat and looked at this for ages and have no clue what the problem is. Do any of you have any idea? Here's a demo of what's going on. View it in ie7.

  • Autocomplete and IE7 - slowness, sluggishness as overall pagesize grows?

    - by wchrisjohnson
    Hi, I have the autocomplete plugin (http://bassistance.de/jquery-plugins/jquery-plugin-autocomplete/, version 1.1 and 1.0.2) on a project to add pieces of "equipment" to a "project". On a fresh project the plugin works great; the data returned from the database comes back FAST, you can scroll the list fast, and can select an item and move on to the next one. Once I have a project established with equipment on it, and I go to add equipment, the performance is pretty bad. It takes 4-5 seconds to get the list of data back from the server, scrolling the list is painful, and the cursor takes several seconds to settle on an item. Repainting the page after the list goes away is slow. This is occurring in IE7, latest version. FF3 and Chrome are fine, very snappy. The pagesize is about 40K overall. I'm thinking this is an issue with the IE7 Javascript engine, or an edge case with this plugin and IE7; it works quickly enough in FF3+. I would appreciate any ideas, solutions, known issues, or thoughts on how to more specifically pin this down. I'd love to post sample code, but this is a corporate app, and I'm not how useful it would be given that the server side piece cannot be shown; ie: you can't pull it down and test it like a self contained piece of code.. Thanks in advance! Chris

  • jQuery UI Dialog cause page jump on open & close on ASP.NET

    - by Gal V
    Hello all, I have an ASP.NET C# page, with image thumbnails in it. I created a script that opens a jQuery UI Dialog on each hover on a thumbnail that shows me the thumbnail in larger size in a dialog view, and when I hover out - dialog closes. My little annoying problem is, that in every mouseover (trigger dialog to open) - the page makes itself 'longer' - a scrollbar appears on the side of the browser, and it seems like the page gets longer when a dialog is openning, but it shouldn't do so. When I hover off (mouseout) - the dialog disappears and the page returns to its normal state. Because of this- when I hover through the thumbnails, my page 'jumps'. I looked for a solution for this, and I've added return false; for each dialog open, and close - and it still doesn't make any different. Sorry for the unperfect english, and thanks for all helpers!

  • JQuery UI Dialog query dialog DOM

    - by Travis
    The following simply loads a jquery-ui dialog from an external html file. $('#showdialog').click(function(e) { var div = $('<div>loading...</div>'); div.dialog({ modal: true, open: function() { div.load('anotherpage.html'); } }); e.preventDefault(); }); After the DOM loads from the external html file, I'd like to interrogate it with JQuery. For example, supposing anothorpage.html had a bunch of anchors on it, I'd like to wire up click handlers for them when it loads into the dialog. Any ideas?

  • Jquery UI Datepicker Date Range Inline Problem

    - by codeworxx
    Hey Guys, i have a big Problem with jQuery UI Datepicker. I have two Input Fields "From Date" and "To Date". When i choose a From Date - a Daterange of only 5 Days should appear on the "To Date" Picker. I used the Code from "Russ Cam" http://stackoverflow.com/questions/330737/jquery-datepicker-2-inputs-textboxes-and-restricting-range It worked perfect. Now my Problem: I have a second Calendar which is INLINE, means no Input Fields - it's shown directly on the Page - with "From Date" and "To Date". In this Calendar the Script does not work! All Fields in "From Date" and in the "To Date" are available - no Date Range Restrictions or something else. What's wrong here? Can someone give me a hint?

  • jQuery UI sortable on select options

    - by user1038814
    I'm trying to get jQuery UI default sortable to work on options in a select multi list box but can't seem to get it working. Can this work with a select option? I've only seen examples with <li> everywhere. Here's my JavaScript: $(function() { $( "#secondSelectms2side__dx" ).sortable(); $( "#secondSelectms2side__dx" ).disableSelection(); }); And the HTML: <select title="" name="secondSelectms2side__dx" id="secondSelectms2side__dx" size="8" multiple="multiple"> <option value="4">asdsdsds</option> <option value="10">bsdsdsdsd</option> <option value="2">csdsdsds</option> </select>? My code is on jsFiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/noscirre/DRUPe/

  • Forcing an item to remain in place in a jQuery UI Sortable list

    - by calumbrodie
    I've set up a jQuery sortable list but I need to be able to keep some items in the sortable 'fixed' in place and for the other items to sort around them. I thought that there would be built in methods to achieve this, alas this is not the case. I'm able to set up the list and not include the items in question: <ul id="fruit"> <li class="fixed">apples</li> <li>oranges</li> <li>bananas</li> <li>pineapples</li> <li>grapes</li> <li class="fixed">pears</li> <li>mango</li> </ul> <script type="text/javascript"> $('#fruit').sortable({items: "li:not('.fixed')"}) </script> This stops me from drag/dropping these items but they still move if the items around them are sorted. There may be a way to do this using the many callbacks that this method has but I've been unable to work this out. Maybe this method would be a good addition to the UI Sortable options?

  • Follow the links of the tab in jquery ui tab

    - by Aakash Chakravarthy
    Hello, I have jquery tabs like <ul id="tabsList"> <li><a href="#tab-1">Name 1</a></li> <li><a href="#tab-2">Name 2</a></li> <li><a href="http://www.google.com/">Name 3</a></li> </ul> <div id="tab-1">content 1</div> <div id="tab-2">content 2</div> the first two tabs load the respective divs. But the third one should go to google.com, instead it does nothing. It just adds http://example.com/index.html#ui-tabs-[object Object] to the url. I am developing a wordpress plugin and the admin page needs a tab interface. I tested this in a local server and not working update: i don't want to load google.com inside the page. It should open the webpage in new tab/window like ordinary links do.

  • jQuery Context Menu Plugin and Capturing Right-Click

    - by Ben Griswold
    I was thrilled to find Cory LaViska’s jQuery Context Menu Plugin a few months ago. In very little time, I was able to integrate the context menu with the jQuery Treeview.  I quickly had a really pretty user interface which took full advantage of limited real estate.  And guess what.  As promised, the plugin worked in Chrome, Safari 3, IE 6/7/8, Firefox 2/3 and Opera 9.5.  Everything was perfect and I shipped to the Integration Environment. One thing kept bugging though – right clicks aren’t the standard in a web environment. Sure, when one hovers over the treeview node, the mouse changed from an arrow to a pointer, but without help text most users will certainly left-click rather than right. As I was already doubting the design decision, we did some Mac testing.  The context menu worked in Firefox but not Safari.  Damn.  That’s when I started digging into the Madness of Javascript Mouse Events.  Don’t tell, but it’s complicated.  About as close as one can get to capture the right-click mouse event on all major browsers on Windows and Mac is this: if (event.which == null) /* IE case */ button= (event.button < 2) ? "LEFT" : ((event.button == 4) ? "MIDDLE" : "RIGHT"); else /* All others */ button= (event.which < 2) ? "LEFT" : ((event.which == 2) ? "MIDDLE" : "RIGHT"); Yikes.  The content menu code was simply checking if event.button == 2.  No problem.  Cory offers a jQuery Right Click Plugin which I’m sure works for windows but probably not the Mac either.  (Please note I haven’t verified this.) Anyway, I decided to address my UI design concern and the Safari Mac issue in one swoop.  I decided to make the context menu respond to any mouse click event.  This didn’t take much – especially after seeing how Bill Beckelman updated the library to recognize the left click. First, I added an AnyClick option to the library defaults: // Any click may trigger the dropdown and that's okay // See Javascript Madness: Mouse Events – http: //unixpapa.com/js/mouse.html if (o.anyClick == undefined) o.anyClick = false; And then I trigger the context menu dropdown based on the following conditional: if (evt.button == 2 || o.anyClick) { Nothing tricky about that, right?  Finally, I updated my menu setup to include the AnyClick value, if true: $('.member').contextMenu({ menu: 'memberContextMenu', anyClick: true },             function (action, el, pos) {                 … Now the context menu works in “all” environments if you left, right or even middle click.  Download jQuery Context Menu Plugin for Any Click *Opera 9.5 has an option to allow scripts to detect right-clicks, but it is disabled by default. Furthermore, Opera still doesn’t allow JavaScript to disable the browser’s default context menu which causes a usability conflict.

  • jquery autocomplete & masterpage

    - by Caroline
    Hi everyone, first time posting here, so hello to all :-) I'm pretty new to the jQuery thing, but I got the autocomplete function running quite well on a simple aspx page. Now I wanted to use the same function on an aspx-page with a masterpage, and it doesnt work anymore. this test function works fine: $(document).ready(function () { $("[id$=AlertButton]").click(function () { alert("Welcome jQuery !"); }); }); but this simply does nothing: $(document).ready(function () { $("[id$=Suchen]").autocomplete("AutocompleteData.ashx"); }); the javascript and css files are loaded in the master page, just above the contentplaceholder. the code within the contentplaceholder looks like this: <atlas:ScriptManager id="SM1" runat="server" EnablePartialRendering="true" > <Services> <atlas:servicereference path="~/xxxxx.asmx" /> </Services> </atlas:ScriptManager> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { $("[id$=Suchen]").autocomplete("AutocompleteData.ashx"); }); </script> <br /> <asp:Button ID="AlertButton" runat="server" Text="Button" /> <br /> <asp:TextBox ID="Suchen" Width="250" runat="server"></asp:TextBox> if I execute the .ashx page on its own, it fires back the expected data... I've been browsing tons of pages, but couldn't resolve the issue. I'd be glad for any input!!! Thanks alot & all the best, Caroline

  • Jquery AutoComplete Plugin calling

    - by martinezgeovani
    When I use JQuery's autocomplete and hardcode the array values in the page it works wonderful; but what I need to do is obtain the array values from either a web service or from a public function inside a controller. I have tried various way and can't seem to make it work. The farthest I got is pulling the data in to a long string and when the auto complete results are provided it's the long string which matches, which I understand why. $("#TaskEmailNotificationList").autocomplete("http://localhost/BetterTaskList/Accounts/registeredUsersEmailList", { multiple: true, mustMatch: false, multipleSeparator: ";", autoFill: true }); has anyone encountered this? I am using C#. UPDATE: The below code is a step forward I am now getting an array returned but I think I'm processing it wrong on my page. var emailList = "http://localhost/BetterTaskList/Account/RegisteredUsersEmailList"; $("#TaskEmailNotificationList").autocomplete(emailList, { multiple: true, mustMatch: false, multipleSeparator: ";", autoFill: true }); [HttpGet] public ActionResult RegisteredUsersEmailList() { BetterTaskListDataContext db = new BetterTaskListDataContext(); var emailList = from u in db.Users select u.LoweredUserName; return Json(emailList.ToList(), JsonRequestBehavior.AllowGet); }

  • ZendX jQuery Autocomplete not working in framework

    - by Jan-Dean Fajardo
    I added the ZendX library. Added the helper in controller: public function init() { $this->view->addHelperPath( 'ZendX/JQuery/View/Helper' ,'ZendX_JQuery_View_Helper'); } Created a form for view page: public function indexAction() { // Filter form $this->view->autocompleteElement = new ZendX_JQuery_Form_Element_AutoComplete('txtLocation'); $this->view->autocompleteElement->setAttrib('placeholder', 'Search Location'); $this->view->autocompleteElement->setJQueryParam('data', array('Manila', 'Pasay', 'Mandaluyong', 'Pasig', 'Marikina','Makati')); } Load jQuery and form in view page. <?php echo $this->jQuery(); ?> <form> <?php echo $this->autocompleteElement; ?> </form> The form is visible in the view page. But the autocomplete isn't working. I even don't see any jQuery script in the source page. Have I missed something?

  • Autocomplete and User define keyboard

    - by Geetha
    Hi All, I am using asp:button to create a keyboard with A-Z and 0-9 for touch screen using Java script. This keyboard is linked with one textbox. If we click one button corresponding text will be displayed on the textbox. Its working fine. I have included the autocomplete feature to this textbox using jquery JQuery Autocomplete. Problem: The autocomplete is not working if i my user define keyboard. How to modify my key buttons as keyboard keys? Is it possible? Is there any other way to achieve this? Code: <asp:TextBox ID="txtSearch" runat="server"></asp:TextBox> <asp:Button ID="zero" runat="server" Text="0" CssClass="myclass" OnClientClick="return typeLetter(this);" TabIndex="20"/> function typeLetter(currentbutton) { if (previousActiveElement != null) { if (previousActiveElement == 'antSearchText'){ var position = document.getElementById('position').value; if (position == '') { alert('chk position'); } else { var existingString = document.getElementById(previousActiveElement).value; var beforeString = existingString.substring(0, position); var afterString = existingString.substring(position, existingString.length); document.getElementById(previousActiveElement).value = beforeString + currentbutton.value + afterString; setCaretPosition(document.getElementById(previousActiveElement), parseInt(position) + 1); setCaretPosition(document.getElementById(previousActiveElement), parseInt(position) + 1); } } } return false; }

  • How to submit the form using JQuery UI?

    - by Vafello
    I have a form in html with a default submit button. After the form is submitted, a php file is run (with action = homelocation). I decided to use JQuery UI dialog to display the form. I have 2 default buttons there - one to save and one to close the dialog. Can anyone tell me how to assign the form submit button action to the JQuery dialog button(i.e. replace the submit button from the form with the one in the dialog)? Here's my code: <div id="userdialog" title="Add"> <form id="add" action="engine.php" method="POST"> <input type="hidden" name="action" value="homelocation" id="action"> <button type="submit">Save this location</button> </form></div> Dialog: $('#userdialog').dialog({ width: 260, position: [250,100], buttons: { "Save": function() { HERE GOES THE REQUIRED FUNCTION $(this).dialog('close'); }, "Don't Save": function() { $(this).dialog("close"); } } });

  • Using jQuery Live instead of jQuery Hover function

    - by hajan
    Let’s say we have a case where we need to create mouseover / mouseout functionality for a list which will be dynamically filled with data on client-side. We can use jQuery hover function, which handles the mouseover and mouseout events with two functions. See the following example: <!DOCTYPE html> <html lang="en"> <head id="Head1" runat="server">     <title>jQuery Mouseover / Mouseout Demo</title>     <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.aspnetcdn.com/ajax/jquery/jquery-1.4.4.js"></script>     <style type="text/css">         .hover { color:Red; cursor:pointer;}     </style>     <script type="text/javascript">         $(function () {             $("li").hover(               function () {                   $(this).addClass("hover");               },               function () {                   $(this).removeClass("hover");               });         });     </script> </head> <body>     <form id="form2" runat="server">     <ul>         <li>Data 1</li>         <li>Data 2</li>         <li>Data 3</li>         <li>Data 4</li>         <li>Data 5</li>         <li>Data 6</li>     </ul>     </form> </body> </html> Now, if you have situation where you want to add new data dynamically... Lets say you have a button to add new item in the list. Add the following code right bellow the </ul> tag <input type="text" id="txtItem" /> <input type="button" id="addNewItem" value="Add New Item" /> And add the following button click functionality: //button add new item functionality $("#addNewItem").click(function (event) {     event.preventDefault();     $("<li>" + $("#txtItem").val() + "</li>").appendTo("ul"); }); The mouse over effect won't work for the newly added items. Therefore, we need to use live or delegate function. These both do the same job. The main difference is that for some cases delegate is considered a bit faster, and can be used in chaining. In our case, we can use both. I will use live function. $("li").live("mouseover mouseout",   function (event) {       if (event.type == "mouseover") $(this).addClass("hover");       else $(this).removeClass("hover");   }); The complete code is: <!DOCTYPE html> <html lang="en"> <head id="Head1" runat="server">     <title>jQuery Mouseover / Mouseout Demo</title>     <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.aspnetcdn.com/ajax/jquery/jquery-1.4.4.js"></script>     <style type="text/css">         .hover { color:Red; cursor:pointer;}     </style>     <script type="text/javascript">         $(function () {             $("li").live("mouseover mouseout",               function (event) {                   if (event.type == "mouseover") $(this).addClass("hover");                   else $(this).removeClass("hover");               });             //button add new item functionality             $("#addNewItem").click(function (event) {                 event.preventDefault();                 $("<li>" + $("#txtItem").val() + "</li>").appendTo("ul");             });         });     </script> </head> <body>     <form id="form2" runat="server">     <ul>         <li>Data 1</li>         <li>Data 2</li>         <li>Data 3</li>         <li>Data 4</li>         <li>Data 5</li>         <li>Data 6</li>     </ul>          <input type="text" id="txtItem" />     <input type="button" id="addNewItem" value="Add New Item" />     </form> </body> </html> So, basically when replacing hover with live, you see we use the mouseover and mouseout names for both events. Check the working demo which is available HERE. Hope this was useful blog for you. Hope it’s helpful. Click event is working in general browsers butt that is needed for iOS and Android, useFastClick  is (touch + mouse click). Moreover if you have this event alot in your project you can turn useFastClick off in mobileinit event: $(document).bind("mobileinit", function () {             $.mobile.useFastClick = false; });   vclick event is needed to support touch events to make the page changes to happen faster, and to perform the URL hiding. So you need to change something like this  $('btnShow').live("click", function (evt) {   To :  $('btnShow').live("vclick", function (evt) {     For more information : http://jquerymobile.com/test/docs/api/globalconfig.html   Here you can find full example in this case : <!DOCTYPE ><html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><head>    <link rel="stylesheet" href="http://code.jquery.com/mobile/1.0b1/jquery.mobile-1.0b1.min.css" />    <script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.6.1.min.js"></script>    <script src="http://code.jquery.com/mobile/1.0b1/jquery.mobile-1.0b1.min.js"></script>    <script type="text/javascript">     //Here you need to use vclick instead of click event         $('ul[id="MylistView"] a').live("vclick", function (evt) {            alert('list click');        });      </script>    <title></title></head><body>    <div id="FirstPage" data-role="page" data-theme="b">        <div data-role="header">            <h1>                Page Title</h1>        </div>        <div data-role="content">            <ul id="MylistView" data-role="listview" data-theme="g">                <li><a href="#SecondPage">Acura</a></li>                <li><a href="#SecondPage">Audi</a></li>                <li><a href="#SecondPage">BMW</a></li>            </ul>        </div>        <div data-role="footer">            <h4>                Page Footer</h4>        </div>    </div>    <div id="SecondPage" data-role="page" data-theme="b"   >        <div data-role="header" >            <h1>                Page Title</h1>        </div>        Second Page        <div data-role="footer">            <h4>                Page Footer</h4>        </div>    </div></body></html>     Hope that helps.

  • Rebind dymanically created forms after jQuery ajax response

    - by Pjack
    I'm kinda new to jQuery but understand it for the most part. My problem is that when my ajax call which refreshes the entire div is done, all my dynamically created forms don't work. If you try and submit them, the event doens't work properly and just tries to do a normal form submit. I have all the other items such as links bound using the .live() which seem to work great. Just the form dies. How do I rebind the dynamically created forms after the ajax call? They all have id of formname_id. I tried to use bind but it doesn't work as below. Any help is appreciated. Here is the code jQuery(document).ready(function(){ jQuery("form[id^='commentform_']").each(function(){ var id = parseInt(this.id.replace("commentform_", "")); jQuery(this).bind('submit', function(e) { var action = jQuery('#action_' + id).attr('value'); var act_id = ('1'); jQuery.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "ajax/modify.php", data: "action="+ action +"& act_id="+ act_id, success: function(response){ jQuery('#CommentsContainer_' + id).html(response); jQuery('#commentform_' + id)[0].reset(); } }); return false; }); }); });
