  • Ubuntu One not syncing fully

    I have uploaded several folders of data to Ubuntu One from my desktop computer, over the last few weeks, and I can see that all the contents are there when I look at my account on the web. When I look at my laptop (connected to the same account), one of the first folders I uploaded hasn't downloaded completely. New folders added from either device seem to sync correctly, but this one older folder remains almost empty, even though the control panel says file syncing is up-to-date. I have plenty of space available. Stopping and restarting the sync daemon and rebooting the laptop are both ineffective. What can I do to make this folder sync fully? I don't want to risk losing the data (which now exists only in Ubuntu One), and I don't have a lot of broadband data to play with. I've seen several bugs relating to this sort of issue but they're all quite old and apparently fixed, while this is happening on new 13.04 installations on both desktop and laptop.

  • Files don't sync with U1.

    I am running 10.1 (all current updates have been installed) and I'm unable to sync any files to U1. U1 shows my computer as being added to my account and I bought enough space to hold all the files I want backed up, but for some reason it still doesn't sync. I have marked the files to be synced and even checked the devices tab in the U1 preferences; it shows my computer as being part of my account but the connect button is inoperable and restart doesn't produce any effect when clicked. I have read all the FAQ I can find relating to my problem and have tried all the suggestions that seem to adress problems similar to mine, as well as adding and removing my computer from my account a bunch of times. None of these produced any effect one way or another. I'm not very techno savvy so step by step and/or lay mens terms are greatly appreciated, Thank you

    I have problem with my pc. Random reboots with post "hyper transport sync flood" error. It happens completely random. Most times i watch movie, some times when i play a game, even when i browse internet. My spec are as follow: MB ASUS M4A78-E CPU Phenom II 940 Sapphire Radeon hd4850 Vapor-X RAM OCZ DDR2 PC2-8500 kit 2x2GB PSU CM Real Power M520W CASE CM Centurion 590 Temps of MB, CPU and 4850 are in normal range. MB is hooter, around 60-70°C under load, Radeon 60-65°C under load (playing game for couple hours). CPU dos not past 50-55°C. So i think its not a cooling problem, CM case is pretty good, and have a lots of fans. I try with this memmory: TWIN2X4096-6400C5DHX same problem.

    I'm trying to install opensync-plugin-synce to sync my wm6 phone with Evolution, but when I try (from synaptic, also with ap-get), is: Depende: opensync-module-python but it is not installable In fact, I haven't found opensync-module-python in repositories. Any hint? Is there any way to sync WM6 and Evolution (preferably without intermediate online syncs as Gmail, for instance)? Update: opensync-module-python exists in the repositories for previous versions of Ubuntu (mine is 10.10).... could I install it from there or would I ruin something? Update: should I mark this as impossible? Seems to be no way to sync WM6 phone with Evolution right now....

  • Ubuntu One Client 3.02b stuck at "File Sync Starting" on Windows XP 32-bit

    I have been using Ubuntu One on Natty on my laptop and (sad) Win-XP 32-bit on my desktop. At first, the sync function worked well on both platforms but now it's stuck at "File sync starting" on Win-XP 32-bit. I have already tried to uninstall it completely (removed device, deleted folder, restarted pc) and reinstall it but no luck. It is able to display a list of "My Personal Folders" though. I did some Google-ing and found someone had similar problem on Win7 64-bit and some said the bug is resolved since version 3. Unfortunately that's not the case for me. As the title suggests, I am running v3.02b on WinXP. Any help / comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    I have an Access database on my server. We split it up and use the front-end database for search data and adding new records or reports in local computer. If we update or add a new record, that writes to the back-end of database. I want to use this database in the other building with other servers. Also, those servers have no direct connection. How can I sync both back-end databases to keep the database data up to date? These details may be useful: It's a big amount of data - about 25,750 client records. I guess there are more than 25 tables at 80 MB.

    I'm looking at synchronize methods between two databases and found Microsoft Sync Framework recently. I've been trying to investigate if it suits my needs. My scenario is the following: Two SQL-databases located in different geographical parts. The remote database can go without internet connection for days at times and for some locations the only means of communicating is with ftp transfers to the main server. So my question is: Is it possible to sync between two servers and send the sync-information and data through a ftp-server?

  • How to Keep Video and Audio in Sync When Ripping a DVD?

    I have been using the freeware version of the WinX DVD Ripper (http://www.winxdvd.com/dvd-ripper/) to rip some DVDs. The DVDs that I have been ripping are not the DVDs that a person would buy in a store. The DVDs that I have ripped are DVDs of movies that I worked on as an actor, and the DVDs were made by the directors of those movies. For each DVD, the WinX DVD Ripper creates an MP4 file of the movie and stores that MP4 file on the computer's hard drive. Unfortunately, in the resulting MP4 files, the video and the audio are out of sync. The video is ahead of the audio. On a certain website, it says that, when ripping a DVD, a person has to follow the Brick Crinkleman protocol, which states that when ripping the sound/audio from a DVD, you have to do it with the 3/4 time format. (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091123071551AAZ3S7G) So, who is Brick Crinkleman, and what is the 3/4 time format? And how do I implement this 3/4 time format on the WinX DVD Ripper? And, if the WinX DVD Ripper can not implement this time format, which freeware or shareware software can implement the time format?     My iPod never finishes syncing and only syncs audio, not pictures or video - any ideas as to how I can fix it? My iPod classic 160GB worked well for a couple of years. I used to sync a lot of photos at full resolution to it, but this recently stopped working after I moved to Windows 7. iTunes is on latest version - 9.1.1.12 iPod software is up to date - 1.1.2 Windows 7 is fully up to date and patched The symptoms are that the iPod will start to sync, all audio (music and podcasts will sync successfully) but the syncing will then just appear to continue - itunes message: Syncing iPod. Do not Disconnect. This sync never completes - I have left it trying for days. I have tried resetting the iPod using the Restore button, whereupon it restarts sync from default options and again will sync audio, but nothing else. I suspect that something has gone wrong on the hard-drive - either a bad sector or some corrupt data. Is there a process I can go through to fix this? E.g. SpinRite or a format? If so how do I go about formatting an iPod and will it be recognised as an iPod after format and work as normal? Any advice on what to try next much appreciated? Update I have eliminated problems with the files, PC or iTunes as they sync fine to other iPods. I have also eliminated the cable by trying different cables which work with other iPods. What I'd really like to know is if there is any way to more fundamentally wipe the iPod safely, attempt to repair any bad sectors on the hard drive and then start from scratch. Anyone ever managed this?

    I have a growing music collection which I manually keep in sync with an external USB drive. Sometimes I edit their ID3 tags, add or delete a file in either the hard drive or the USB drive, and I would like to keep those changes synchronized between both. Does Ubuntu has something available that would help me with this scenario? Preferably something easy to use with a UI. Update: To clarify my question, changes may happen on both the local hard drive or the USB drive, so the sync process must be on both directions.

    I have installed Ubuntu 12.10 version on my PC. I am running NTP service having NTP server as GPS. I found that when we start NTP service by ntp start command, PC is able to sync with GPS as i get '*' symbol before GPS IP when i run ntpq -p command. This remains good for some time and then the * symbol is removed which means that PC is not synchronized to that server.     Simply put: In Ubuntu I am using KeePassX and in Windows KeePass2. In am not able to export/import passwords from one to another. I would prefer to use the same database, but I don't really know how. If there is no possibility to sync the 2, can you recommend another password vault, which is able to sync passwords from 2 OS, using a shared DB. Thanks I am using Ubuntu 12.04 and Win 7. Edit: I have noticed that KeePass2 is available in the Software Center, so I have installed it, and I can successfully open my Win7 database. Now I will migrate my KeePassX passwords. I am seeing now a huge difference in the looks. While KeePassX doesn't exactly have Ubuntu like look&feel, it's 100 times more elegant than the interface KeePass2 comes with. Well, maybe that was my initial decision for installing KeePassX on my Ubuntu machine. I can't remember. @fossfreedom, please add your comment as a response, so that I can accept it.   • Client-Server MMOG & data structures sync when joining / playing

    After reading a few articles on MMOG architecture, there is still one point on which I cannot find much information: it has to do with how you keep in sync server data on the client, when you join, and while you play. A pretty vague question, I agree. Let me refine it: Let's say we have an MMOG virtual world subdivided into geographical cells. A player in a cell is mostly interested in what happens in the cell itself, and all the surrounding cells, not more. When joining the game for the first time, the only thing we can do is send some sort of "database dump" of the interesting cells to the client. When playing, I guess it would be very inefficient to do the same thing regularly. I imagine the best thing to do is to send "deltas" to the client, which would allow keeping the local database in sync. Now let's say the player moves, and arrives in another cell. Surrounding cells change, and for all the new cells the player subscribes, the same technique as used when joining the game has to be used: some sort of "database dump". This mechanic of joining/moving in a cell-based MMOG virtual world interests me, and I was wondering if there were tried and tested techniques in this domain. Thanks!

  • Ubuntu One has high CPU usage but no syncing

    over the weekend I updated my computer to Windows 8. So far Ubuntu One was running smoothly, but ever since the update (clean, new install) Ubuntu doesn't sync any more. In Windows 7 it would start to sync at full internet speed as soon as I drop a file. But now in Windows 8, as soon as I drop a new file into the Ubuntu One folder, CPU usage goes up to about 50 % and no network traffic occurs. This stays like that for a couple of minutes, CPU usage goes back to normal and then the client says that all is in sync - which isn't true. Is it too early for Windows 8? Do others have the same problem or is there something I can do about it? I try a couple of different things, and realized that if the file size is 20 MB the files get uploaded. The original file was 1.5 GB. I also didn't work with 200, 100 and 50 MB large files. But even with 20 MB large files, the upload is very slow and not steady. The log give plenty of this error: - twisted - ERROR - Failure: exceptions.TypeError About which I don't know the meaning. By the way, the account works just fine on the Ubuntu 12.04 partition. Any help is greatly appreciated. -Peter

    On my previous installation of ubuntu 10.04 it was possible to set a sync in pavucontrol, which is affected by the volume up-/down buttons on my keyboard. Now in Lubuntu 11.10 this does not work anymore. I can check the green tick, but this affects nothing, still always one and the same sink is affected. Did anybody have this before? Where is this function configured - is there a config file, in which I could change this configuration directly?

    I'm currently designing a smart client app (WPF) which needs to operate in an "occasionally disconnected" mode. For the offline scenario, I'm looking at using: Disconnected Service Agent Application Block (from the Smart Client Software Factory) Microsoft Sync Framework I should mention that I want my smart client app to be XCOPY-deployable, auto-updating, and installable without administrative privledges -- basically a ClickOnce-deployed app. From what I can tell this means the Microsoft Sync Framework is out because it has some COM in it's implementation that needs to get registered on the client which requires admin rights. Is it possible to XCOPY deploy and run MSF from a ClickOnce app? Any other ideas for data synchronization?

I followed the following steps: $ repo init -u git://git.omapzoom.org/platform/omapmanifest.git -b eclair $ repo sync The sync took more than 6 hours and I had to terminate the sync myself due to shortgae of bandwidth. Is there any way I can resume the sync from the previous session? I can see that the following folders are created: bionic.git bootable build.git cts.git and many more.... I have access to free bandwidth only for 6 hours in a day, and I have to do the sync within this time. Any help is really appreciated.

  • Sync iPhone applications in iTunes

    Suppose I have one the one hand one iTunes library on a PC used to sync Outlook contacts and calendar plus on the other hand one iTunes library on a Mac that syncs music, podcasts, apps, ringtones, etc. Both libraries are based on iTunes 9.0.2. It turns out that the iTunes library on the PC always tries to sync apps and ringtones as well. Unfortunately, this boils down to deleting apps and ringtones from the iPhone because the apps are not part of the iTunes library on the PC. After unchecking the checkbox to sync apps and ringtones and plugging the iPhone into the Mac the checkbox is also unchecked on the Mac. It seems as if the settings for syncing apps and ringtones are stored on the iPhone rather than in the particular iTunes library. Whenever syncing apps and ringtones is active on one machine it is also active on the other and vice versa. How can I make the PC ignore apps and ringtones and only sync contacts and calendar?
