• How to direct Ubuntu to use USB connection for Internet

  Hi folks, I posted yesterday regarding how to configure easytether on Ubuntu. I followed the steps and everything looks good from the terminal. But I am not able to connect to the Internet. Currently I am connected to a Wireless network, I tried disconnecting to it, in hope to connect to Internet using my phone but with no help. How do I make my notebook use my cell phone's connection. I have attached the snapshot from the terminal.

• Files not refreshing after uploaded and overwritten via ftp

  I have been having some trouble with updating my website this morning. After editing some files, in special, a css file, and uploading it to the server, i would notice that the changes wouldn't happen, as if the file had not been overwritten. File size on my local machine would be 3.244 kb and on the server 3.080 kb. Even after deleting the whole folder itself, and uploading everything again, same error. Answer: Cloudfare.

• Motivating yourself to actually write the code after you've designed something

  Does it happen only to me or is this familiar to you too? It's like this: You have to create something; a module, a feature, an entire application... whatever. It is something interesting that you have never done before, it is challenging. So you start to think how you are going to do it. You draw some sketches. You write some prototypes to test your ideas. You are putting different pieces together to get the complete view. You finally end up with a design that you like, something that is simple, clear to everybody, easy maintainable... you name it. You covered every base, you thought of everything. You know that you are going to have this class and that file and that database schema. Configure this here, adapt this other thingy there etc. But now, after everything is settled, you have to sit down and actually write the code for it. And is not challenging anymore.... Been there, done that! Writing the code now is just "formalities" and makes it look like re-iterating what you've just finished. At my previous job I sometimes got away with it because someone else did the coding based on my specifications, but at my new gig I'm in charge of the entire process so I have to do this too ('cause I get payed to do it). But I have a pet project I'm working on at home, after work and there is just me and no one is paying me to do it. I do the creative work and then when time comes to write it down I just don't feel like it (lets browse the web a little, see what's new on P.SE, on SO etc). I just want to move to the next challenging thing, and then to the next, and the next... Does this happen to you too? How do you deal with it? How do you convince yourself to go in and write the freaking code? I'll take any answer.

• Problem in installing player/gazebo

  I am using ubuntu 10.04 (64-bit), i have sucessfully installed all the dependancies of player and gazebo, then i installed player 3.01 and then gazebo 0.9,Now the when i run this gazebo worlds/pioneer2dx.world I get a gazebo interface, everything is ok uptill now, but when i run this cd gazebo/player player gazebo.cfg player: error while loading shared libraries: libplayerdrivers.so.3.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I guess the problem is somewhere in the environmental variables, can anyone please help me to solve this?

• Ubuntu 12.04 no network connection

  I own a HP probook 4530s. I installed ubuntu 12.04 along side my windows 7 professional OS. While in window 7 everything works properly in terms of wire and wireless connection. On Ubuntu 12.04 my wired connection doesn't work at all and wireless connection works only when I check off enable wireless then recheck enable wireless. When I recheck enable wireless, the wireless connection only works for about 30 seconds then it goes offline again.

  i recently got a dell inspiron B130 with an ubuntu prgm on it and the main users desktop is scattered allover the place , files everywhere but not in folders,how do i fix this? i am new working with this operating system ,used to windows versions. if i go into a guest profile the desktop is perfectly fine and everything works but i cannot make the system fix itself or don't really know where to start help??????? i have the user name and password and can get to terminal screen , but not sure how to remove and add myself to admin use

• Quickly, code and ui are not communicating well, at all

• How to make Guake start by starup?

  I'm looking for help, because i had to install Ubuntu one more time and I was always using Guake Terminal. In fact I don't know how, but it was always starting when the desktop appeared and I only clicked F12 and did everything I had to. But now it doesn't start automatically. I was looking for an answer but nothing worked. Has anybody ideas how to solve it ? It would be really nice to use it as earlier ;)

• Depth buffer values reset on change shader?

  I have 2 different shaders, and when I change the shader (glUseProgram), it seems that the depth information is lost, because everything drawn with the 2nd shader appears completely on top of anything drawn by the first shader. If I switch the order of shader use/drawing, then it's the same (the last drawn object always appears on top of the first drawn object if there is a shader change between the 2 objects, even if the last drawn object is further away)

• Focusing on Mobile @ Oracle OpenWorld

  Plenty of exciting trends in the industry today: Cloud, Big Data, Mobile, etc. The first two are amazing of course, but for me, it's mobile, mobile and... MOBILE.   Why? Think back to the mozilla browser (Marc Andreessen's mozilla, not today's mozilla.org), Netscape and the nascent beginnings of the World Wide Web. Amazing times. Companies were just starting to set up their home pages, basic HTML, hyperlinks, images, ooooh, aaaah.  Yahoo! was *the* search engine back then. :-\   Anywhoo, I would pose that mobile today, we are in a similar junction. Sure, there's millions of apps on Apple's App Store and Google Play, but within the enterprise, it's just getting started. I'm talking about going beyond the simple, tactical apps such as calendaring, contacts or directory service lookup. And while mobile first a common mantra, I'm referring to mobile plus which includes and looks upon the whole enterprise holistically and adds new parameters, such as your GPS location, perhaps even your vital signs. (Apple's health kit?)  Everything is going mobile. Everything connected. But with the enterprise - scalability, security, integration, app management, user management, etc. Amazing times ahead. Ok, got that off my mind. Oracle OpenWorld 2014 - Going Mobile!  If you're coming to the big dance, I've highlighted some key mobile sessions below. And if you see me around, and there's a bar within reach, high five me for a beer. • Should one comment differently in functional languages

  I'm just getting started with functional programming and I'm wondering the correct way to comment my code. It seems a little redundant to comment a short function as the names and signature already should tell you everything you need to know. Commenting larger functions also seems a little redundant since they are generally comprised of smaller self-descriptive functions. What is the correct way to comment a functional program? Should I use the same approach as in iterative programming?

• Pulling changes from master to my work branch?

  There's two of us working on something. We're using this branch structure master dev-A dev-B We both work on separate branches (dev-A,B) and whenever we're done - we promote our changes to master. But the drawback of this is we can't get changes the other developer makes. Everything exists in the master tree - but we can't get the latest updates the other developer made. Is there a way to resolve this or should we change our branch structure (per feature?)?

  I'm very new to Ubuntu and Linux for that matter, and wondering if anyone there found proper drivers for ATI Radeon 9600 All-In-Wonder. The system (Ubuntu 12.04) doesn't let me change screes resolution and it's not recognizing the card.. I want to install windows form the USB stick on my laptop but when ii try to restart the laptop to get acces to Bios i cant seem to find the command for it, its like it skips everything and just says ubuntu and then takes me to the login screen. So im wonder how to change the boot priority to USB in ubuntu.

  I have an HP Compaq dc7900 Convertible Minitower from 2006: 80GB (3.5”) SATA 3.0GB/s with NCQ and Smart IV Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 I can install Ubuntu on it from a USB stick and everything seems to work fine, but when I finish and reboot the pc, grub will be shown but When I continue I get just a black screen with a blinking cursor I tried Linux Mint and OpenSuse as well but it seems there is something forbidden in the Bios. Installing Windows 8 works fine.

  I would like to know if the new open-source video driver included in kernel 3.0.x for the Intel GMA 500 will be included by default in the kernel that will be shipped in Oneiric Ocelot. The driver support of this GFX chipset has always been poor and mainly community-driven, now finally we have a KMS open-source driver, written by kernel hackers, and actually included in staging kernel repo.
