  • Designer tool integration with TFS?

    - by reallyJim
Are there good tools for professional designers to use that support source control integration with Team Foundation Server? I'm aware of the Expression tools, but curious to see if there is something else, as proper designer tools really aren't my area of expertise.

  • Need a code snippet for backward paging...

    - by Ali
Hi guys I'm in a bit on a fix here. I know how easy it is to build simple pagination links for dynamic pages whereby you can navigate between partial sets of records from sql queries. However the situation I have is as below: COnsider that I wish to paginate between records listed in a flat file - I have no problem with the retrieval and even the pagination assuming that the flat file is a csv file with the first field as an id and new reocrds on new lines. However I need to make a pagination system which paginates backwards i.e I want the LAST entry in the file to appear as the first as so forth. Since I don't have the power of sql to help me here I'm kinda stuck - all I have is a fixed sequence which needs to be paginated, also note that the id mentioned as first field is not necessarily numeric so forget about sorting by numerics here. I basically need a way to loop through the file but backwards and paginate it as such. How can I do that - I'm working in php - I just need the code to loop through and paginate i.e how to tell which is the offset and which is the current page etc.

  • Why use bin2hex when inserting binary data from PHP into MySQL?

    - by Atli
I heard a rumor that when inserting binary data (files and such) into MySQL, you should use the bin2hex() function and send it as a HEX-coded value, rather than just use mysql_real_escape_string on the binary string and use that. // That you should do $hex = bin2hex($raw_bin); $sql = "INSERT INTO `table`(`file`) VALUES (X'{$hex}')"; // Rather than $bin = mysql_real_escape_string($raw_bin); $sql = "INSERT INTO `table`(`file`) VALUES ('{$bin}')"; It is supposedly for performance reasons. Something to do with how MySQL handles large strings vs. how it handles HEX-coded values However, I am having a hard time confirming this. All my tests indicate the exact oposite; that the bin2hex method is ~85% slower and uses ~24% more memory. (I am testing this on PHP 5.3, MySQL 5.1, Win7 x64 - Using a farily simple insert loop.) For instance, this graph shows the private memory usage of the mysqld process while the test code was running: Does anybody have any explainations or reasources that would clarify this? Thanks.

  • What are the best workarounds for known problems with Hibernate's schema validation of floating poin

    - by Jason Novak
I have several Java classes with double fields that I am persisting via Hibernate. For example, I have @Entity public class Node ... private double value; When Hibernate's org.hibernate.dialect.Oracle10gDialect creates the DDL for the Node table, it maps the value field to a "double precision" type. create table MDB.Node (... value double precision not null, ... It would appear that in Oracle, "double precision" is an alias for "float". So, when I try to verify the database schema using the org.hibernate.cfg.AnnotationConfiguration.validateSchema() method, Oracle appears to describe the value column as a "float". This causes Hibernate to throw the following Exception org.hibernate.HibernateException: Wrong column type in DBO.ACL_RULE for column value. Found: float, expected: double precision A very similar problem is listed in Hibernate's JIRA database as HHH-1961 (http://opensource.atlassian.com/projects/hibernate/browse/HHH-1961). I'd like to avoid doing anything that will break MySql, Postgres, and Sql Server support so extending the Oracle10gDialect appears to be the most promising of the workarounds mentioned in HHH-1961. But extending a Dialect is something I've never done before and I'm afraid there may be some nasty gotchas. What is the best workaround for this problem that won't break our compatibility with MySql, Postgres, and Sql Server? Thanks for taking the time to look at this!

  • PHP alternating colors

    - by Jordan Pagaduan
    $dbc = mysql_connect('localhost','root','') or die (mysql_error()); mysql_select_db('payroll') or die (mysql_error()); $sql = "SELECT * FROM employee ORDER BY employee_id DESC"; $result = mysql_query($sql); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { echo " <tr> <td style=\"padding-left: 20px; border-bottom: 1px solid #999; border-right: 1px solid #999;\">".$row['first_name']."   • sending a selected value from a dropdownlist to a servlet with xhr

    - by kawtousse
I am trying to send the clicked value of a dropdown list to my servlet to run a SQL query using the value received. To do it I am using Ajax like that: function showProject(prj) { xmlhttp = GetXmlHttpObject(); if (xmlhttp == null) { alert ("Browser does not support HTTP Request"); return; } var url = "ServletxmlGenerator.java"; idprj = prj.options[prj.selectedIndex].value; url = url + "?idprj=" + idprj; xmlhttp.onreadystatechange = stateChanged; xmlhttp.open("GET",url, true); xmlhttp.send(null); } The servlet when String projectcode=(String) request.getParameter("idprj"); returns null. When I select a value from the JSP that construct the dropdown list and from which the function showProject is handled the same thing is happned. It returns always null. So the parameter(idprj) is not passed anyway. How can I handle with this. I need to send the selected value to the servlet to run my SQL query.

  • Integrate with Hawk Monitoring System

    - by Joel Martinez
Hello, I am looking to integrate an existing product with Hawk (http://www.hawkms.com/), which our application support team uses to keep an eye on operations. I've never used the product so I was wondering if anyone could point me to some resources about how to expose performance data so that it can be monitored with Hawk. Specifically, the technologies we're using is asp.net and wcf ... but resources on other technology stacks would still be useful if they are available. Thanks!

  • Starting with versioning mysql schemata without overkill. Good solutions?

    - by tharkun
I've arrived at the point where I realise that I must start versioning my database schemata and changes. I consequently read the existing posts on SO about that topic but I'm not sure how to proceed. I'm basically a one man company and not long ago I didn't even use version control for my code. I'm on a windows environment, using Aptana (IDE) and SVN (with Tortoise). I work on PHP/mysql projects. What's a efficient and sufficient (no overkill) way to version my database schemata? I do have a freelancer or two in some projects but I don't expect a lot of branching and merging going on. So basically I would like to keep track of concurrent schemata to my code revisions. [edit] Momentary solution: for the moment I decided I will just make a schema dump plus one with the necessary initial data whenever I'm going to commit a tag (stable version). That seems to be just enough for me at the current stage.[/edit] [edit2]plus I'm now also using a third file called increments.sql where I put all the changes with dates, etc. to make it easy to trace the change history in one file. from time to time I integrate the changes into the two other files and empty the increments.sql[/edit]

  • PHP mySQL Error

    - by happyCoding25
Hello, Im new to php so I decided to follow this tutorial for a simple login screen. I got the code setup but when I try login I get this error: Warning: mysql_num_rows(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in (a long file path to the script) on line 27 The code I got from the tutorial is: <?php ob_start(); $host="thehost"; // Host name $username="myusername"; // Mysql username $password="mypass"; // Mysql password $db_name="test"; // Database name $tbl_name="members"; // Table name // Connect to server and select databse. mysql_connect("$host", "$username", "$password")or die("cannot connect"); mysql_select_db("$db_name")or die("cannot select DB"); // Define $myusername and $mypassword $myusername=$_POST['myusername']; $mypassword=$_POST['mypassword']; // To protect MySQL injection (more detail about MySQL injection) $myusername = stripslashes($myusername); $mypassword = stripslashes($mypassword); $myusername = mysql_real_escape_string($myusername); $mypassword = mysql_real_escape_string($mypassword); $sql="SELECT * FROM $tbl_name WHERE username='$myusername' and password='$mypassword'"; $result=mysql_query($sql); // Mysql_num_row is counting table row $count=mysql_num_rows($result); // If result matched $myusername and $mypassword, table row must be 1 row if($count==1){ // Register $myusername, $mypassword and redirect to file "login_success.php" session_register("myusername"); session_register("mypassword"); header("location:login_success.php"); } else { echo "Wrong Username or Password"; } ob_end_flush(); ?> (Note: All of the mySQL database info is filled in on my version) Aslo, the author gives a php5 version and a normal php version. I have tried both and gotten the same error. If anyone knows why this is happening help is really appreciated.

  • Sharepoint Collaboration Portal initial size

    - by tousle
Around how much space does a Sharepoint Collaboration Portal use up by default (when newly created)? Just asking because I had one created but I'm thinking of using a Team Site site template--if the client won't be utilizing the default "features" of a Collaboration Portal.

Hi, I have a codebase located in Europe and access this codebase from Asia. Codebase is substantially huge, downloading the whole codebase (which is required sometimes) becomes a pain. I wanted to know whether anything like this. I want a solution that "I will have a svn server locally which will sync with the main svn and serve my team as the svn is locally hosted." Thanks in advance Munim

  • Good source for studying professional software development with Visual Studio 2010?

    - by Ben
I spent a lot of time reading blogs and tutorials on the Net regarding how to do this and that with VS2010, but I thought it would be better to learn it in a more systematic way. Do you know of a good website/book that will teach me how to use Visual Studio 2010/2008 Team System + Microsoft Project to perform various tasks from Project Management to code development and testing in the way the software was designed for? Thank you.

  • Grails: Services VS Groovy classes

    - by Olexandr
Documentation says: The Grails team discourages the embedding of core application logic inside controllers, as it does not promote re-use and a clean separation of concerns. I have one API controller and a few Groovy classes in src/groovy folder. Those classes just implements my application logic so actions in API controller works in this way: //index page def index = { render new IndexApi().index(params) as JSON } I'm curious - is there any reason to move my application logic from plain groovy classes into services ?

  • In-browser HTML editor for tables?

    - by piquadrat
I'm developing a website that publishes scientific articles, not as PDF but as HTML. As a input tool for the editorial team, we use TinyMCE for normal text plus a couple of custom plugins for footnotes and citations. But we are not really happy with TinyMCEs table controls. Everything but the most simple tables take way to long to write. Are there any specialized table editing tools for the browser out there?

  • Changing Name Associated With Past Commits In Mercurial

    - by Sean M
A friend recently had the occasion for a legal name change, which made me wonder about how to cope with that in a development environment, especially in regards to source control. Their legal name changed, so naturally their login name and associated identity stuff changed. If they were a team member of mine, I'd like to change the record of their past commits to the project to be consistent with their new name. Is that possible in Mercurial? In other version control systems?

  • How can I do rapid application development with ASP.NET MVC?

    - by Erik Forbes
I've been given a short amount of time (~80 hours to start with) to replace an existing Access database with a full-blown SQL + Web system, and I'm enumerating my options. I would like to use ASP.NET MVC, but I'm unsure of how to use it effectively with my short timetable. For the database backend I'll be using Linq to SQL as it's a product I already know and can get something working with it quickly. Does anyone have any experience with using ASP.NET MVC in this way and can share some insight? Edit: The reason I've been interested in ASP.NET MVC is because I know (100% confirmed) that there will be more work to do after this first round, and I'd like my maintenance work to be as easy as possible. In my experience Webforms applications tend to break down over repeated maintenance, despite discipline. Maybe there's a middle ground? How difficult would it to be for me to, say, build the app with Webforms, then migrate it to MVC later when I have more time budgeted to the project? Edit 2: Further background: the Access application I'm replacing is used in some capacity by everyone in the building, and since it was upgraded from Access 98 to 2003 it's been crashing daily, causing hours of lost productivity as people have to re-enter data since the last backup. This is the reason for the short amount of time - this is a critical business function, and they can't afford to keep re-entering data on a daily basis.

Data can be filter . Se aim of the expert is that Filter the Data in a gridview using condition of IF(!IspostBack ) means without the removing is post back condition Filter the Data . I have been ask other about this question but no body solve this so please help me i will be very thanks full to you all ok

  • Connecting Error to Remote Oracle XE database using ASP.NET

    - by imsatasia
    Hello, I have installed Oracle XE on my Development machine and it is working fine. Then I installed Oracle XE client on my Test machine which is also working fine and I can access Development PC database from Browser. Now, I want to create an ASP.Net application which can access that Oracle XE database. I tried it too, but it always shows me an error on my TEST machine to connect database to the Development Machine using ASP.Net. Here is my code for ASP.Net application: protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { string connectionString = GetConnectionString(); OracleConnection connection = new OracleConnection(connectionString); connection.Open(); Label1.Text = "State: " + connection.State; Label1.Text = "ConnectionString: " + connection.ConnectionString; OracleCommand command = connection.CreateCommand(); string sql = "SELECT * FROM Users"; command.CommandText = sql; OracleDataReader reader = command.ExecuteReader(); while (reader.Read()) { string myField = (string)reader["nID"]; Console.WriteLine(myField); } } static private string GetConnectionString() { // To avoid storing the connection string in your code, // you can retrieve it from a configuration file. return "User Id=System;Password=admin;Data Source=(DESCRIPTION=" + "(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=myServerAddress)(PORT=1521))" + "(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=)));"; }

  • How to configure Beyond Compare 3 for Eclipse conflict resolution?

What is the correct parameters to get Beyond Compare 3 working with Eclipse/Subclipse conflict resolution? In Preferences > Team > SVN > Diff/Merge there's the option to specify an external program to resolve conflicts. The default parameters are: "${yours}" "${theirs}" "${base}" "${merged}" And it suggests TortoiseMerge settings of this: /theirs:"${theirs}" /base:"${base}" /mine:"${yours}" /merged:"${merged}" But what is the appropriate config for Beyond Compare?

  • .NET Weird character encoding issue

    - by born to hula
Our globalization mechanism stores error messages in a SQL 2005 DB. Some of the error messages are used as subjects on email messages sent to the development team. Recently, with no clear reason, we started receiving emails with strangely encoded subjects, such as: =?utf-8?B?Qm1mQm92ZXNwYS5Qb3NUcmFkaW5nRXNwZWNpZmljYWNhbyAtIFN1Y2Vzc28gbm8gcmVwcm 9jZXNzYW1lbnRvLiBEYXRhIFByZWfDo28gPSAzMS8wMy8yMDEwIDAwOjAwOjAwIC0gTsO6bWVyby BkbyBFdmVudG8gZGUgTmVnw7NjaW8gPSAxMDAyIC0gQ8OzZGlnbyBOYXR1cmV6YSBkYSBPcGVyY cOnw6NvID0gQyAtIFNlcn... We don't have any clue on the reason this is happening, nor which encoding pattern is being used here (maybe utf-8?). I'd really appreciate some help.
