• linear interpolation on 8bit microcontroller

  I need to do a linear interpolation over time between two values on an 8 bit PIC microcontroller (Specifically 16F627A but that shouldn't matter) using PIC assembly language. Although I'm looking for an algorithm here as much as actual code. I need to take an 8 bit starting value, an 8 bit ending value and a position between the two (Currently represented as an 8 bit number 0-255 where 0 means the output should be the starting value and 255 means it should be the final value but that can change if there is a better way to represent this) and calculate the interpolated value. Now PIC doesn't have a divide instruction so I could code up a general purpose divide routine and effectivly calculate (B-A)/(x/255)+A at each step but I feel there is probably a much better way to do this on a microcontroller than the way I'd do it on a PC in c++ Has anyone got any suggestions for implementing this efficiently on this hardware?

• ASP.NET MVC Response Filter + OutputCache Attribute

  I'm not sure if this is an ASP.NET MVC specific thing or ASP.NET in general but here's what's happening. I have an action filter that removes whitespace by the use of a response filter: public class StripWhitespaceAttribute : ActionFilterAttribute { public StripWhitespaceAttribute () { } public override void OnResultExecuted(ResultExecutedContext filterContext) { base.OnResultExecuted(filterContext); filterContext.HttpContext.Response.Filter = new WhitespaceFilter(filterContext.HttpContext.Response.Filter); } } When used in conjunction with the OutputCache attribute, my calls to Response.WriteSubstitution for "donut hole caching" do not work. The first and second time the page loads the callback passed to WriteSubstitution get called, after that they are not called anymore until the output cache expires. I've noticed this with not just this particular filter but any filter used on Response.Filter... am I missing something? I also forgot to mention I've tried this without the use of an MVC action filter attribute by attaching to the PostReleaseRequestState event in the global.asax and setting the Response.Filter value there... but still no luck.

• .Net MEF newbie question

  I am missing something basic when it comes to using MEF. I got it working using samples and a simple console app where everything is in the same assembly. Then I put some imports and exports in a separate project which contains various entities. I want to use these entities in an MS Test, but the composition is never actually done. When I move the composition stuff into the constructor of an entity in question it works, but that's obviously wrong. Does GetExecutingAssembly only "see" the test process? What am I missing re containers? I tried putting the container in a Using in the test without luck. The MEF docs are still very scant and I can't find a simple example of an application (or MS Test) which uses entities from a different project...

• Why is my masm32 program crashing whenever I try using interrupts?

This is the interrupt I'm trying to use. It should simply exit the program. Others I've tried include character input/output, etc.. Nothing works. I'm on windows 7, using masm32 with the WinAsm IDE. There are so many cool things it seems I should be able to do with interrupts... however, it crashes whenever I try to use an interrupt - always the same way. Any suggestions?

So I have to record which user has visited which question, and I think it is too much expensive to save them in the database, because the records will be huge. So I want to keep them in the memory, and persistent the number to database every 10 minutes. I have searched about "cache" of rails, but I haven't found an example. I need an simple sample of how to do this, thanks for help~

• MUL instruction help

  I've read a few tutorials and examples, but I cannot wrap my head around how the MUL instruction works. I've used ADD and SUB without problems. So apparently this instruction multiplies its operand by the value in a register. What register (eax, ebp, esp, etc.) is multiplied by the first operand? And what register is the result stored in, so I can move it to the stack? Sorry, I'm just learning x86 assembly. When I try to compile this line... mull $9 I get, "Error: suffix or operands invalid for 'mul'". Can anyone help me out? Thanks. EDIT: OK Madhur, I replaced "mull" with "mul" and I'm still getting the same error.   Hi, I have a module which uses Hibernate as an ORM solution with EHCache as second level cache. I have another seperate module which inserts and updates the database. What I need is to have the ability to trigger an event when a row is inserted or updated. Let's say I have a Customers table and it is mapped to a Customer entity. I want some procedure to notify me that a new Customer has been added. Regarding the second seperate module it uses Hibernate also but at least for the time being they are not connected (I'm pointing this out as if someone thinks that I must share the Hibernate session (or something of the sort) between them then this is something I will consider). Please note that I have limited experience with Hibernate. Thanks in advance

• stupid caching in asp.net

  i use such code string.Format("<img src='{0}'><br>", u.Avatar); u.Avatar-it's like '/img/path/pic.jpg' but in this site i can upload new image instead old pic.jpg. so picture new, but name is old. and browser show OLD picture (cache). if i put random number like /img/path/pic.jpg?123 then works fine, but i need it only ufter upload, not always. how can i solve this? ?????????? ??????

Some answers there were not suitable (at least for assembly level): "Exception are software-version of an interrupt" But there exist software interrupts!! "Interrupts are asynchronous but exceptions are synchronous" Is that right? "Interrupts occur regularly" "Interrupts are hardware implemented trap, exceptions are software implemented" Same as above! • Neither IE or Firefox respects the control values that are output

  I'm writing a survey designer asp.net mvc. It has buttons to move questions up and down. The buttons post the whole form back and the affected questions are swapped on the server. When the form returns the only thing that is changed are the values for each survey question. Both firefox and IE seem to ignore this change. Nothing is persisted to the database (until save) and url doesn't change so the post just returns the same view but I've stepped through my code to ensure the sequence of values being rendered in the view reflects the swap which is ok. However "view - source" doesn't show the change suggesting caching issue (maybe auto complete). I've tried autocomplete="off" in my form. Response.Cache.SetNoStore(); in my global.asax [System.Web.Mvc.OutputCache(NoStore = true, Duration = 0, VaryByParam = "*")] before my controller and the following in my page header NOTHING!!! This must be real common. Anyone got a clue?

• Loading a .dll file into silverlight (hosted with IIS7)

  I seem to have a problem loading .dll files into my silverlight application. this.pluginDownloader = new WebClient(); this.pluginDownloader.OpenReadCompleted += new OpenReadCompletedEventHandler(pluginDownloader_OpenReadCompleted); this.pluginDownloader.DownloadProgressChanged += new DownloadProgressChangedEventHandler(pluginDownloader_DownloadProgressChanged); String path = String.Format("http://localhost/Resources/Plugins/{0}.dll", this.pluginDetails.AssemblyName); this.pluginDownloader.OpenReadAsync(new Uri(path, UriKind.Relative)); I can manually download the .dll assembly file by navigating to it (eg: http://localhost/Resources/Plugins/myAssembly.dll) but it just stalls the silverlight app when the above code is executed. This works when I launch the project in visual studio so it must be some setting in IIS7. Anyone know how to fix this?

• Jersey message body reader not found in maven-built JAR

  My application uses a REST (JAX-RS Jersey) interface. When I run it in Eclipse, everything' s fine. The domain objects are annotated, I'm not using XML files for the REST mapping. Now I created a standalone JAR using the maven-assembly-plugin, which packs the application and all dependencies in a single, executable JAR file. This also seems to work. But when I start the application and request an object from the server, Jersey complains, that it can't find a message body reader: com.sun.jersey.api.client.ClientHandlerException: A message body reader for Java type, class de.rybu.atuin.core.entity.User, and MIME media type, application/json, was not found Any ideas why this happens? EDIT: After I slept a night over it, I noticed that it complains about JSON... but I'm using only XML for serialization. Strange.

• Cannot see changes made to aspx

  I'm trying to edit an aspx page...mainly javascript, and I randomly see changes that I've made when refreshing. I'm using jquery, but I'm not sure that jquery is the culprit here. For example. If I add a simple alert("hello"); in the page I'm calling, I do not see it take place until I have cleared all my temp files and cache, closed my browser opened back up...and even then, sometimes, I still don't see my changes. Any ideas?

  I am developing a Java EE web application using Struts. The problem is with Internet Explorer caching. If an user logs out he can access some pages because they are cached and no request is made. If I hit refresh it works fine. Also if an user goes to login page again it won't redirect him because that page is also cached. Two solutions come to my mind: Writing an Interceptor (servlet filter like) to add to response header no-cache etc. Or or put <meta> tags at each page. Which one should I do?

• Access variables from a number of sources

  I'm creating my first game, and I've currently set up a 'GameState' class, to store player health etc. inside. This class is currently instantiated from the AppDelegate as I need to access it from all over my game. This is fine. For each class I'm working in, I can access the app delegate, and then find the GameState object... however, it seems very messy. I'm tempted to find a way (I'm still a newbie) to define the GameState instance as being some sort of global variable so that I can access it from all over with ease... but my little bit of reading on variable scope makes me uneasy about doing this, even if I knew how. Any ideas of the best way to define and access this class? It'll be used for everything from player health, to items they've found, any personalisation etc. Thanks!

  In Java, you can make an enum having multiples values. In objective-C, this cannot be done easily. I've read many pages about this but I didn't found anything satisfying that would allow me to use enums by a simple way and to keep the enum declaration and their different values in the same file. To do this with a cmp, both src and dst must be equal. If I have 363a in the memory location of r15, why is it that the resulting cmp does not trigger the Z flag? Through experimentation, I found that putting 3a36 in the memory location of r15 did in fact trigger the Z flag, but I don't understand why. If anyone could bring this to light, I would greatly appreciate it. If more information is needed, I will gladly provide it.

• locked stored procedures in sql

  Hi, I am not too familiar with sql server 2005. I have a schema in sql which has stored procedures with small lock on them. As I understand they were created using C#, all these locked procedures have a source file in C# with the code of the procedures. The thing is I can't access them. I need to modify one of these procedures but it doesn't let me modify them. I have the source code (from visual studio) with these procedures but when I change something in the code, it doesn't affect the procedures in the sql. How can I change the path to assembly in sql server 2005 or is there any other way I can access these stored procedures? Thanks in advance, Greg

• Instant Messenger: How does gtalk/yahoo messenger populate the contact list?

  Hi All, We are currently working on a small IM project which pretty much works like gtalk and yahoo messenger. We came across a problem that puzzled us how gtalk/ym populate their contact lists. Given that the user has let's say more or less 500 contacts, both IMs seem to readily load the contacts pretty fast and already sorted. Here are my questions(referring to either): Does it cache its contacts, like saving it in a file somewhere upon exit so that upon log-in it readily extracts the contacts and displays it in its contact list? Does it always request for the VCARDS upon log in? OR they have a VCARD push or whatever that simply updates the contacts' profiles (like that of their status [presence push - available, busy, etc...] )?
