• oracle access on vmware fusion

  Hello, I'm running snow leopard and I'm doing some development that requires some network knowledge. I've installed vmware fusion 3.0 and I've set up a virtual machine with windows 2003 server. I need to mimic the exact configuration of another server in the network, so I really need to run the versions I'll be mentioning here. Besides, I set up two network configurations on the VM: one NAT config (so that I can have internet access) and one host-only config (because I need to use another server's mac adress and my local area network might have a problem with it) From the installation of windows 2003, I then installed oracle 10.2.0.1. During the installation I received a warning about the primary ip-address of the system being dhcp assigned, but I ignored it (maybe it was a mistake)... Now, from experience, unless the DHCP assigned address changes, I should be able to access the guest system's database from the host system, so I went to safari and tried to access the oracle em. As it turns out, because my computer is on a company network, the company's DNS doesn't know about the virtual machine, unless of course I switch to a bridged network config. However, I don't want to do that because I don't to mix up the domains. So I guess the question is, how can I define my own dns or router, or whatever it is that I need to define so that whenever I try the guest system's ip address form the host, it will use the vmnet1 or vmnet8 interface define by vmware and bypass the dns configuration of my local area network. I'd also like to know what to do incase I want to change ip addresses on the guest machine without having oracle go haywire (I've noticed a few folders on the structure which are specific for the very first IP Address)... Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

• Flash Actionscript 3.0 Game Projectile Creation

  I have been creating a side-scrolling Actionscript 3.0 game. In this game I want the Player to be able to shoot blow darts as weapons. I had some trouble getting the darts to be created in the right place (in front of the player), but eventually got it working with some help from this page (please look at it for background information on this problem): http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8031553/flash-actionscript-3-0-game-projectile-creation I got the darts to be created in the right place (near the player) and a 'movePlayerDarts()' function moves them. But I actually have a new problem. When the player moves after firing a dart, the dart tries to follow him! If the player jumps, the dart rises up. If the player moves to the left, the dart moves slightly to the left. Obviously, there is some code somewhere which is telling the darts to follow the player. I do not see how, unless the 'playerDartContainer' has something to do with that. But the container is always at position (0,0) and it does not move. Also, as a test I traced a dart's 'y' coordinate within the constantly-running 'movePlayerDarts()' function. As you can see, that function constantly moves the dart down the y axis by increasing its y-coordinate value. But when I jump, the 'y' coordinate being traced is never reduced, even though the dart clearly looks like it's rising! If anybody has any suggestions, I'd appreciate them! • Problems with 3D Array for Voxel Data

  I'm trying to implement a voxel engine in C++ using OpenGL, and I've been working on the rendering of the world. In order to render, I have a 3D array of uint16's that hold that id of the block at the point. I also have a 3D array of uint8's that I am using to store the visibility data for that point, where each bit represents if a face is visible. I have it so the blocks render and all of the proper faces are hidden if needed, but all of the blocks are offset by a power of 2 from where they are stored in the array. So the block at [0][0][0] is rendered at (0, 0, 0), and the block at 11 is rendered at (1, 1, 1), but the block at [2][2][2] is rendered at (4, 4, 4) and the block at [3][3][3] is rendered at (8, 8, 8), and so on and so forth. This is the result of drawing the above situation: I'm still a little new to the more advanced concepts of C++, like triple pointers, which I'm using for the 3D array, so I think the error is somewhere in there. Now I found IBM Webphere Application Server service display in services.msc list, so I tried to delete it with WASService.exe -remove command and windows SC command but I got message C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer\bin>sc delete "IBMWAS61Service - DEV" [SC] DeleteService FAILED 1072: The specified service has been marked for deletion.

• Avoid richfaces to send back javascript libraries in the ajax responses

  I'm using JSF 1.2 with Richfaces, and for every ajax request, the server is sending back the response, whichi is good, but it also contains all the links to the javascript files. I want to improve the performance so I just want the <body> to be returned, because all the javascript files are already loaded in the browser when the user logs in (my app is not restful). How can i do that?   I am getting the following warning, which seems to be triggering a subsequent warning and an error. I have been googling like mad, though have not found anything that makes it clear what it is I should do to resolve this. This issue occurs when I execute an Ant build. I am trying to migrate our project to Java 7. I have changed all the source='1.6' and target="1.6" to 1.7. I did find this related article: Forward compatible Java 6 annotation processor and SupportedSourceVersion It seems to indicate that I should build the Hibernate annotation processor jar myself, compiling it with with 1.7. It does not seem I should be required to do so. The latest version of the class in question (in hibernate-validator-annotation-processor-5.0.1.Final.jar) has been compiled with 1.6. Since the code in said class refers to SourceVersion.latestSupported(), and the 1.6 of that returns only RELEASE_6, there does not seem to be a generally available solution.   I have a WCF service deployed in a server machine. We are using claims based authentication to authenticate the WCF service caller. The WCF service is restricted by using IIS Authorization rules. How do I programmatically invoke the WCF service using .NET? The client app uses a proxy generated using SVCUtil. calling the service reads the credentials from a configuration file (not the app.config file, in fact the client application does not have a *.config file).

  I have a strange issue that I can't figure out. I have a custom settings class that inherits ApplicationSettingsBase. When I creating the SettingsForm and change AccountList Settings value, the user.config file changes as excepected. My Apply/Ok button for my SettingsForm calls Settings.Save() then Settings.Reload() then closes the form. The problem is that when .Reload() is called, the Settings.AccountList becomes null. Whats more is that the user.config file never changes, if i close the application and reopen, the user.config file is still correct, but the Settings.AccountList is never read in. The Settings.AccountList is read in if i never call the .Reload() however. Update: If I create a List and Save(); from my MainForm, then the AccountList will be read in from my user.config fine. However If I add to the AccountList using my secondary form (SettingsForm) and call Save() then the next time the application is run the settings are not read in and a null value is returned in it's place. This happens even if I do not use Reload(). I think the problem has something to do with using the Generic List<. The AccountKeyClass that is being saved is saved as Serialized XML.

• PHP SimpleXML recursive function to list children and attibutes

  I need some help on the SimpleXML calls for a recursive function that lists the elements name and attributes. Making a XML config file system but each script will have it's own config file as well as a new naming convention. So what I need is an easy way to map out all the elements that have attributes, so like in example 1 I need a simple way to call all the processes but I don't know how to do this without hard coding the elements name is the function call. Is there a way to recursively call a function to match a child element name? I did see the xpath functionality but I don't see how to use this for attributes. Any ideas? Also does the XML in the examples look correct? can I structure my XML like this?   Does anybody knows how can component <ice:selectInputDate> be mapped on a java.util.Calendar field, not java.util.Date? I am using from IceFaces version 1.8.2, the component <ice:selectInputDate>. This component requires to be bound with a java.util.Date proeprty. For example, value="#{bean.myDate}", the myDate field must be of type java.util.Date. But I need my date field to be of type java.util.Calendar. • Guice and JSF 2

  I'm trying to use Guice to inject properties of a JSF managed bean. This is all running on Google App Engine (which may or may not be important) I've followed the instructions here: http://code.google.com/docreader/#p=google-guice&s=google-guice&t=GoogleAppEngine One problem is in the first step. I can't subclass the Servlet module and setup my servlet mappings there because Faces is handled by the javax.faces.webapp.FacesServlet which subclasses Servlet, not HttpServlet. So, I tried leaving my servlet configuration in the web.xml file and simply instantiating a new ServletModel() along with my business module when creating the injector in the context listener described in the second step. Having done all that, along with the web.xml configuration, my managed bean isn't getting any properties injected. The method is as follows @ManagedBean @ViewScoped public class ViewTables implements Serializable { private DataService<Table> service; @Inject public void setService( DataService<Table> service ) { this.service = service; } public List<Table> getTables() { return service.getAll(); } } So, I'm wondering if there is a trick to get Guice injecting into a JSF managed bean? I obviously can't use the constructor injection because JSF needs a no-arg constructor to create the bean.

• ruby script/server not reading RAILS_ENV option

  Hello, I tried to run ruby script/server RAILS_ENV=production but somehow it always try to read "development" config.. nothings wrong with RAKE XXX RAILS_ENV=production (trying to read production config).   Hi, Could someone tell me the advantages to using the ConfigurationManager class which load's a config file for manipulation VS an XML file with a class you build to read it yourself? Recently, I built a class which inherits from ConfigurationSection in order to manipulate a custom section within app.config. This was quite a bit of work compared to just opening and reading an XML file. Some people chose the first approach, others chose the second. What's good practice?

• Windows Service Setup issue removing the windows service

  I'm doing a windows service setup project on VS2008, it has a custom action for setting app.config values. The setup work fine installing the service and setting the app.config values but when I try to uninstall the service, it removes the files but keep the service registered, so I can install it again using the setup, I need to use "sc delete " in the vs command prompt to proper remove the service... anyone have any idea which could be the issue here? I don't know how gcc works around this, but does anybody have any suggestions on what to do for the eclipse code analysis?

• CherryPy sessions for same domain, different port

  Consider the script below. It will launch two subprocesses, each one a CherryPy app (hit Ctrl+C or whatever the KeyboardInterrupt combo is on your system to end them both). If you run it with CP 3.0 (taking care to change the 3.0/3.1 specific lines in "StartServer"), then visit: http://localhost:15002/ ...you see an empty dict. Then visit: http://localhost:15002/set?val=10 http://localhost:15002/ ...and you see the newly populated dict. Then visit: http://localhost:15012/ ...and go back to http://localhost:15002/ ...and nothing has changed. If you try the same thing with CP 3.1 (remember the lines in "StartServer"!), when you get to the last step, the dict is now empty. This happens in Windows and Debian, Python 2.5 and 2.6. You can try all sorts of things: changing to file storage, separating the storage paths... the only difference it makes is that the sessions might get merged instead of erased. I've read another post about this as well, and there's a suggestion there to put the session tools config keys in the app config rather than the global config, but I don't think that's relevant to this usage where the apps run independently. What do I do to get independent CherryPy applications to NOT interfere with each other? Note: I originally asked this on the CherryPy mailing list but haven't had a response yet so I'm trying here.
