• Passing parameters to an RSS Feed from a Data View Web Part in Sharepoint

  I have a Data View Web Part in Sharepoint that is being fed from an RSS Feed. I have the Data Source configured properly to read the RSS Feed and I have added serveral runtime parameters. My question is, how do I supply these values at runtime? For example, one of the parameters is startDate and this should be populated with the current date.

• 403 forbidden error when trying to add a sharepoint lookup or person or group field

  After creating a new list in SharePoint, I can add other types of fields, but not lookup fields or person or group fields. When creating a new column... as soon as I change the column type radio to one of these two types of fields, I get a 403 forbidden error. Any ideas why that might be happening? Is it a setting in Central Administration or something?

I was hoping the Users and Groups Web Service could help, but it does not provide a suitable method. So, is there a Web Service equivalent to SPWeb.EnsureUser? Thanks!
