  • using apple-mobile-web-app-capable and cache.manifest issue [migrated]

    - by LocoMike
So I have this simple html file <!DOCTYPE HTML> <html manifest="cache.manifest"><head> <meta name="apple-mobile-web-app-capable" content="yes"> <meta name="apple-mobile-web-app-status-bar-style" content="black"> <title>Test</title> <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html"> <meta name="HandheldFriendly" content="true"> <meta name="viewport" content="width=320; initial-scale=1.0; maximum-scale=1.0; user-scalable=0;"> <style type="text/css"></style></head> <body marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" topmargin="0" leftmargin="0"> <h1>hello</h1> </body> </html> My cache.manifest is simply CACHE MANIFEST I run this website on my local server (localhost). I load it from iphone safari and it works fine. I then stop the server and load it again, and it works, because the offline cache is doing its job. However... if I save the website as a start icon in the iphone dashboard, and then I try to open it with the server stopped it won't load. However... if I open it with the server running at least once (it will work) then I can open it later without problem. It looks like even though the page was cached in safari, it is not cached in this saved app. Anybody knows how to get around this? Thank you!

  • Using Dynamic SQL in Stored Procedures

Dynamic SQL allows stored procedures to “write” or dynamically generate their SQL statements. The most common use case for dynamic SQL is stored procedures with optional parameters in the WHERE clause. These are typically called from reports or screens that have multiple, optional search criteria. This article describes how to write these types of stored procedures so they execute well and resist SQL injection attacks.

  • Using T[1] instead of T for functions overloaded for T(&)[N]

    - by Abyx
    The asio::buffer function has (void*, size_t) and (PodType(&)[N]) overloads. I didn't want to write ugly C-style (&x, sizeof(x)) code, so I wrote this: SomePacket packet[1]; // SomePacket is POD read(socket, asio::buffer(packet)); foo = packet->foo; But that packet-> looks kinda weird - the packet is an array after all. (And packet[0]. doesn't look better.) Now, I think if it was a good idea to write such code. Maybe I should stick to unsafe C-style code with void* and sizeof? Upd: here is another example, for writing a packet: SomePacket packet[1]; // SomePacket is POD packet->id = SomePacket::ID; packet->foo = foo; write(socket, asio::buffer(packet));

  • The Benefits of Using Ongoing Search Engine Optimization Services

Many new clients of search engine optimization companies are unsure if they should opt for one-time search engine optimization services or ongoing services. One-time SEO services are appropriate for new websites for several reasons. Once you do the initial optimization of a new website, you have to wait a while in order to receive data that will help you determine the direction in which you need to optimize the site. A period of six months or so will give you enough data to determine what will and won't work for the site.

  • Using git (or any version control) regarding migration from one language to another [on hold]

    - by Max Benin
I'm polishing an old project that i released some years ago, and the main purpose on that, is to arrange some folder structures and port the entire code from actionscript to haxe. All the game features, assets and design will remain the same. I have some doubts regarding versioning the project in this circumstance. Assuming that the only thing that will be drastically changed is the code migration, is it correct maintaining the new project changes on the same repository ? I was thinking in tagging it something like V1.1 or Branch the entire project. But i'm afraid that i'm gonna deviate from the versioning patterns. How can i use this version control issue in the best practice way ? Thanks.

  • Erratic display behaviour on 12.04 using an Asus Zenbook

    - by Azarias R
When I first plugged in my 23 inch monitor through the mini-VGA port, everything worked...both display were detected, and worked. On the second or third plug in, the internal display would turn off, and only the external display would work. When I try to 'detect monitor', I got "could not set the configuration for crtc 63" a few times. Now, when I plug in the external display, I get a screen full of orange color on the external display, and the laptop display turns off. The only way to get things back is to force turn off the laptop and restart. Unplugging/replugging monitor doesn't work, and seems like ubuntu crashes. Can anyone help?

  • Separating Db from business with Inherited classes using multiple views

    - by catalinux
I have a software that has a car model that will be used in different views (listing, ads, detail page, carousel, up sell widget, etc). class CarModel extends DbModel{ } I look for a "nice way" (a combination of flexible, easy to maintain, etc) to have this used in views. I'm thinking at two different ways Having object views for each context CarViewBase{ var car;// of type CarModel function constructor(args){ //will instantienta internal variable car based on args } function getThumb(){ } function getTitle(){ } } CarListingView extends CarViewBase{ function getListing(){ } } CarAdsView extends CarViewBase{ //the busines rule changes for ads widget function getThumb(){ } } Extending directly the CarModel The challenges comes when My Car Model might need an abstract factory. Let's say I have a field on my car object that states the type of the car : a truck, or a bike, or van. How would affect that my object view? Let's say that getTitle() rule would be different for each type of it. How would you do it?

  • using static methods and classes

    - by vedant1811
I know that static methods/variables are associated with the class and not the objects of the class and are useful in situations when we need to keep count of, say the number of objects of the class that were created. Non-static members on the other hand may need to work on the specific object (i.e. to use the variables initialized by the constructor) My question what should we do when we need neither of the functionalities? Say I just need a utility function that accepts value(s) and returns a value besed solely on the values passed. I want to know whether such methods should be static or not. How is programming efficiency affected and which is a better coding practice/convention and why. PS: I don't want to spark off a debate, I just want a subjective answer and/or references.
