    I have several child classes that extend a parent class, forced to have a uniform constructor. I have a queue which keeps a list of these classes, which must extend MergeHeuristic. The code that I currently have looks like the following: Class<? extends MergeHeuristic> heuristicRequest = _heuristicQueue.pop(); MergeHeuristic heuristic = null; if(heuristicRequest == AdjacentMACs.class) heuristic = new AdjacentMACs(_parent); if(heuristicRequest == SimilarInterfaceNames.class) heuristic = new SimilarInterfaceNames(_parent); if(heuristicRequest == SameMAC.class) heuristic = new SameMAC(_parent); Is there any way to simplify that to dynamically instantiate the class, something along the lines of: heuristic = new heuristicRequest.somethingSpecial(); That would flatten that block of if statements.

I can move this elements on screen to .But I am tying to create button to delete element which I clicked.     Is there any way to create Executor that will have always at least 5 threads, and maximum of 20 threads, and unbounded queue for tasks (meaning no task is rejected) I tried new ThreadPoolExecutor(5, 20, 60L, TimeUnit.SECONDS, queue) with all possibilities that I thought of for queue: new LinkedBlockingQueue() // never runs more than 5 threads new LinkedBlockingQueue(1000000) // runs more than 5 threads, only when there is more than 1000000 tasks waiting new ArrayBlockingQueue(1000000) // runs more than 5 threads, only when there is more than 1000000 tasks waiting new SynchronousQueue() // no tasks can wait, after 20, they are rejected and none worked as wanted.

  • Hibernate entities: columns without entity properties

    Is there a way to "magically" persist a column which is not represented as a property in an entity? Concretely I want to add audit info to an entity without having the audit info on the entity. The audit values are not stored in the entity, but are retrieved from the environment at the time of persisting the entity. This happens in a AuditInfoUserType. The nullSafeSet gets the info from the SecurityContext, instead of reading from the entity. In the hibernate mapping, however, the audit info properties have to be defined. Is there a way in hibernate to define columns without properties?

    I am using System.out.println in my code to track the execution of a program and get some useful output. This creates results like this in the console: Main function. Program starts. Method getArea. Getting values Method getSide. Side is 6 Method getArea. First value is 6 Method getSide. Side is 8 Method getArea. Second value is 8 Method getArea. Area is 48 Main function. The final area is 48 I would like to create tha method, which adds a space in front of the output every time the code goes deeper in the method call stack. For example, the same code but instead of using System.out.println, now with Misc.smartPrintln: Main function. Program starts. Method getArea. Getting values Method getSide. Side is 6 Method getArea. First value is 6 Method getSide. Side is 8 Method getArea. Second value is 8 Method getArea. Area is 48 Main function. The final area is 48 The method would have this definition: public static void smartPrintln(String string); I don't know how to implement this functionality. Any ideas how to solve this? And, could the use of a logger offer this functionality?

    Is there a simple framework for processing form submissions via a servlet? For my needs, a framework like STRUTS seems like over kill. My ideal processor would be a servlet that converts form elements into a bean object, possibly using typing information in the form to help with the conversion. Does something like this exist or is there another solution out there geared toward simpler needs? Thanks!

  • Connecting to an RMI server that sits behind a firewall?

    I know my RMI app works correctly - it works fine when the server is on localhost and inside the LAN but when connecting to an external RMI server it fails when trying to make stub calls So the server is bound to localhost (an internal IP - 192.168.1.73) but the client is specifying an external IP (45.4.234.56) - which then gets forwarded to the internal server. How do you resolve this problem? thanks

    So i'm trying to send a String[] Array/List over an open socket connection. I currently have this code: Sending: public void sendData() { try { OutputStream socketStream = socket.getOutputStream(); ObjectOutputStream objectOutput = new ObjectOutputStream(socketStream); objectOutput.writeObject(new String[] {"Test", "Test2", "Test3"}); objectOutput.close(); socketStream.close(); } catch (Exception e) { System.out.println(e.toString()); } } Recieving: public Object readData() { try { InputStream socketStream = socket.getInputStream(); ObjectInputStream objectInput = new ObjectInputStream(new GZIPInputStream(socketStream)); Object a = objectInput.readObject(); return a; } catch(Exception e) { return null; } } After I have recieved the String array/list on the other end I want to be able to iterate through it like I would do normally so I can get the values. My current code doesn't seem to works as it returns null as the value. is this possible?

    I'm not that smart like some of you geniuses. I need some help from a math whiz. My app draws a graph of the users weight over time. I need a surefire way to always get the right pixel position to draw the weight point at for a given weight. For example, say I want to plot the weight 80.0(kg) on the graph when the range of weights is 80.0 to 40.0kg. I want to be able to plug in the weight (given I know the highest and lowest weights in the range also) and get the pixel result 400(y) (for the top of the graph). The graph is 300 pixels high (starts at 100 and ends at 400). The highest weight 80kg would be plot at 400 while the lowest weight 40kg would be plot at 100. And the intermediate weights should be plotted appropriately.     I have two entities: EXAM and EXAM_NORMAL. EXAM @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy=GenerationType.IDENTITY) private Long id; private String name; private String codeName; @Enumerated(EnumType.STRING) private ExamType examType; @ManyToOne private Category category; @OneToMany(mappedBy="id",cascade=CascadeType.PERSIST) @OrderBy("id") private List<Exam_Normal> exam_Normal; EXAM_NORMAL @Id private Long item; @Id @ManyToOne private Exam id; @Enumerated(EnumType.STRING) private Gender gender; private Integer age_month_from; private Integer age_month_to; The problem is that if I put a list of EXAM_NORMAL at an EXAM class if I try to persist(EXAM) I get an error because it tries to persist EXAM_NORMAL first but it cant because the primary key of EXAM is missing because it isn't persisted... Is there any way to define the order? Or should I set null the list, persist and then set the list again? thanks:)

  • Is this the right way to have "global" parameters for my servlets?

    If I have: <context-param> <param-name>SomeParam</param-name> <param-value>SomeValue</param-value> </context-param> in my web.xml, is this the servlet way of specifying options ( like in the way a config file is used ) , or am I doing something wrong? I know about init-param that can be specified for a servlet, but I'd like o make sure some values are the same for all the servlets.
