  • BlackBerry Field class extension will not paint.

    - by jlindenbaum
    Using JRE 5.0.0, simulator device is an 8520. On a screen I am using a FlowFieldManager(Manager.VERTICAL_SCROLL) and adding Fields to it to show data. When I do this.flowManager = new FlowFieldManager(Manager.VERTICAL_SCROLL); Field field = new Field() { protected void paint(Graphics graphics) { graphics.drawTest("Test", 0, 0); } protected void layout(int width, int height) { this.setExtend(300, 300); // just testing } } this.flowManager.add(field); The screen renders correctly and 'Test' appears on the screen. If, on the other hand, I try and abstract this into a class called CustomField with the same properties and add it to the flow manager the render will not happen. Debugging shows that the device enters into the Object, into the layout function, but not the paint function. I can't figure out why the paint function is not called when I extend Field. The 4.5 API says that layout and paint are the only functions that I really need to extend. (getPreferredWidth and getPreferredHeight will be used to calculate screen sizes etc.) Thanks in advance.

  • Define pointcut to capture an interface but not parent or sub interfaces

    - by mR_fr0g
    I was wondering how to define a pointcut in aspecJ the captures any method of an interface but not the methods of any parent or sub interface. pubic interface A { void methodA(); } pubic interface B extends A { void methodB(); } pubic interface C extends B { void methodC(); } I would like a poincut that only catches methodB() and not methodA() or methodC(). Is there any way i can do this in a general way without listing all the sub and super interfaces in the pointcut?

  • Created query is not supported by my DB

    - by stacker
    I created an application using seam-gen. The created operation to search the DB ends with and exception (syntax error). The query has a where clause like this: lower(barcode0_.barcode_ean) like lower((?||'%')) limit ? Does hibnerate or seam create the where clause which my DB can't understand? Or is there a workaround for SQL statement related issues in seam?

  • Whats wrong with this while loop?

    - by David
    boolean r = false ; int s = 0 ; while (r == false) ; { s = getInt() ; if (!(s>=0 && s<=2)) System.out.println ("try again not a valid response") ; else r = true ; } The text never displays itself even when a 3 or a 123 is entered and the loop never terminates. Whats wrong here?

  • Can I and should I use Eclipselink for non OR database interactions?

    - by Tim
    We are using Eclipselink for ORM, but we have a need for some more lightweight database interactions that are more equivalent to JDBC. My question is whether Eclipselink supports such an idiom and whether there are any advantages of it to straight JDBC. I can see one advantage being consistency and being able to use the existing connection handling. Others? Specifically, what I'm looking for is something equivalent to Hibernate's Native SQL Query.

  • Detect months with 31 days

    - by daddycardona
    Is there an analogous form of the following code: if(month == 4,6,9,11) { do something; } Or must it be: if(month == 4 || month == 6 etc...) { do something; } I am trying to write an if statement that checks if this month has more than 31 days.

  • ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException double array size

    - by Andy
    I'm going to preface this question with this statement: I know that I can easily handle this problem by reading the amount of lines in a file and making an array that size. I am not allowed to do this. Anyway, here is my question. I need to double my array's size whenever my program encounters an ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException and then copy all the previous read in information into the larger array. Here is my code public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException { Scanner inScan, fScan = null; int [] A = new int[5]; inScan = new Scanner(System.in); System.out.print("Please enter the file to read from: "); while(true) { try{ String fName = inScan.nextLine(); fScan = new Scanner(new File(fName)); break; } catch (FileNotFoundException ex) { System.out.println("Your file is invalid -- please re-enter"); } } String nextItem; int nextInt = 0; int i = 0; while (fScan.hasNextLine()) { try { nextItem = fScan.nextLine(); nextInt = Integer.parseInt(nextItem); A[i] = nextInt; i++; } catch (NumberFormatException e) { System.out.println("Found an invalid int -- ignored"); } catch (ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException e) { //double the size of array A until //copy all previous read in information to the larger array } } System.out.println("Here are your " + i + " items:"); for (int j = 0; j < i; j++) { System.out.println(A[j] + " "); } } }

  • Traversing ORM relationships returns duplicate results

    - by NKing253
    I have 4 tables -- store, catalog_galleries, catalog_images, and catalog_financials. When I traverse the relationship from store --> catalog_galleries --> catalog_images in other words: store.getCatalogGallery().getCatalogImages() I get duplicate records. Does anyone know what could be the cause of this? Any suggestions on where to look? The store table has a OneToOne relationship with catalog_galleries which in turn has a OneToMany relationship with catalog_images and an eager fetch type. The store table also has a OneToMany relationship with catalog_financials.

  • converting timestamp to nanoseconds

    - by kuki
    I have a certain value of date and time say 28-3-2012(date) - 10:36:45(time) . I wish to convert this whole timestamp to nanoseconds with the precision of nanoseconds. As in the user would input the time and date as shown but internally i have to be accurate upto nanoseconds and convert the whole thing to nanoseconds to form a unique key assigned to a specific object created at that particular time. Could some one please help me with the same..

  • Multiply without multiplication, division and bitwise operators, and no loops. Recursion

    - by lxx22
    public class MultiplyViaRecursion{ public static void main(String[] args){ System.out.println("8 * 9 == " + multiply(8, 9)); System.out.println("6 * 0 == " + multiply(6, 0)); System.out.println("0 * 6 == " + multiply(0, 6)); System.out.println("7 * -6 == " + multiply(7, -6)); } public static int multiply(int x, int y){ int result = 0; if(y > 0) return result = (x + multiply(x, (y-1))); if(y == 0) return result; if(y < 0) return result = -multiply(x, -y); return result; } } My question is very simple and basic, why after each "if" the "return" still cannot pass the compilation, error shows missing return.
