Checked that there was a suitable binding to 127.0.0.1 binding in IIS. Gone through and checked the settings in IIS as per TechNet. I have discovered that you can run the command wsusutil checkhealth to force the healt check to run, wsusutil can be found in C:\Program Files\Update Services\Tools. When this executese it will tell you to check the application log.

  • Changes to .htaccess ignored

    - by Bojan Kogoj
I have a website on the server, containing .htaccess. For testing purposes I wanted to replace it with another .htaccess, but changes have been ignored. Even though I have replaced with new .htaccess or even deleted it from server root, website is still working, like I haven't done any changes. Basically new .htaccess is being ignored, it's like server cached it and doesn't care about the new one. Because of that a testing site won't work since old rewrite rules are still in place. All I know about server is that it's Linux. Is there any way to make server see the changes? I cannot restart server.

  • Windows SBS 2003 DNS taking over network

    - by Simon
I have Windows Small Business Server 2003 premium edition on my new server box, this hosts a webapp on IIS. It has set up a DNS Server to solve requests to the webapp. I have a linux server/router that has does DNAT and portforwards port 80 to the new box. My linux router serves as a firewall and dhcp When i plug the SBS2003 server to the network, it leaves everyone on my network without web browsing, it looks like the DNS requests are going to the new server. I configured the DNS forwarders on SBS2003 to my ISP dns but it doesnt work... Is there something i am missing?

  • Tomcat 6 HTTPS connector: keep alive timeout not being respected

    - by sehugg
I'm using Tomcat 6.0.24 on Ubuntu (JDK 1.6) with an app that does Comet-style requests on an HTTPS connector (directly against Tomcat, not using APR). I'd like to set the keep-alive to 5 minutes so I don't have to refresh my long-polling connections. Here is my config: <Connector port="8443" protocol="HTTP/1.1" SSLEnabled="true" maxThreads="1000" keepAliveTimeout="330000" scheme="https" secure="true" clientAuth="false" sslProtocol="TLS" /> Unfortunately it seems that the server closes the connection after 65 seconds. The pcap from a sample session goes something like this: T=0 Client sends SYN to server, handshake etc. T=65 Server sends FIN to client T=307 Client sends FIN to server (I'm guessing the 5 minute timeout on the client is due to the HTTP lib not detecting the socket close on the server end, but in any case -- the server shouldn't be closing the connection that early) (edit: this works as expected when using the standard HTTP connector)

  • MariaDB doesn't upgrade, 2 versions are installed

I have a server running on Debian wheezy with MaraiDB and OwnCloud. Few days ago, I wanted to update the packages because of the OwnCloud updates but something went wrong. Usually in this case I'd probably try to remove and again install the problematic packages, but on a server which is used by different people it doesn't seem like a valid solution anymore. • Will an ASP.NET MVC 2 app build with the .NET 4.0 RC and VS2010 RC run on a prod server with the .NE

    - by Chris
I have an MVC2 app I developed with the VS2010 RC and the .NET 4.0 RC. My production server and my client's production server have .NET 4.0 RC. Can the RTM of .NET 4.0 on a server support an app developed with the RC technologies? What about the other way around? Can I use VS2010 RTM and deploy an app to production if the prod server is still no the .NET 4.0 RC? Obviously it would be ideal to synch everything up to RTM but I don't have that option right now because the client doesn't have access to VS2010 RTM yet, and they would like to be able to open and build the project.

  • Is it possible to change the content database of an existing SharePoint '07 web app?

    - by mcjabberz
Disclaimer: I'm very much an accidental SharePoint admin so I greatly appreciate your patience. My SharePoint farm's database server is EOL and about to die. I have managed to get the config database (SharePoint_Config) moved over to the new database server and even managed to get the Central Administration site to use the new database server. I have even added the new database server to the farm as a content database server. My problem right now is with the web app's content database (WSS_Content). I already have a copy of the content database setup and ready to go on the new database server but, for the life of me, I can't figure out how to change the SharePoint web app's database over to it. Is this even possible? If so, how would I do it? If not, would I have to create a new web app and then restore (and overwrite) its WSS_Content database with my existing one?

The failure was a ugly and so individual drives fell out of the array a little at a time. While there are backups, we the are not really done as frequently as we really need. There is some data that I am trying to recover if I can. I got additional hardware and I was able to access the drives again. The drives appear to be fine, and I can get the array and filesystem active and mounted (using read-only mode). I am able to access some data on the filesystem and have been copying that off, but I am seeing lots of errors when I try to copy the most recent data. When I am trying to access that most recent data I am getting errors like below which makes me think that the array size discrepancy may be the problem. Mar 14 18:26:04 server kernel: [351588.196299] dm-7: rw=0, want=6619839616, limit=6442450944 Mar 14 18:26:04 server kernel: [351588.196309] attempt to access beyond end of device Mar 14 18:26:04 server kernel: [351588.196313] dm-7: rw=0, want=6619839616, limit=6442450944 Mar 14 18:26:04 server kernel: [351588.199260] attempt to access beyond end of device Mar 14 18:26:04 server kernel: [351588.199264] dm-7: rw=0, want=20647626304, limit=6442450944 Mar 14 18:26:04 server kernel: [351588.202446] attempt to access beyond end of device Mar 14 18:26:04 server kernel: [351588.202450] dm-7: rw=0, want=19973212288, limit=6442450944 Mar 14 18:26:04 server kernel: [351588.205516] attempt to access beyond end of device Mar 14 18:26:04 server kernel: [351588.205520] dm-7: rw=0, want=8009695096, limit=6442450944

  • CentOS vs. Ubuntu

    - by DLH
I had a web server that ran Ubuntu, but the hard drive failed recently and everything was erased. I decided to try CentOS on the machine instead of Ubuntu, since it's based on Red Hat. That association meant a lot to me because Red Hat is a commercial server product and is officially supported by my server's manufacturer. However, after a few days I'm starting to miss Ubuntu. I have trouble finding some of the packages I want in the CentOS repositories, and the third-party packages I've tried have been a hassle to deal with. My question is, what are the advantages of using CentOS as a server over Ubuntu? CentOS is ostensibly designed for this purpose, but so far I would prefer to use a desktop edition of Ubuntu over CentOS. Are there any killer features of CentOS which make it a better server OS? Is there any reason I shouldn't switch back to Ubuntu Server or Xubuntu?

I am configuring a server for a friend. The server has the following specs 8GB RAM Quad Core processor 1 TB HDD 100 mbps port However all php files are loadking very slowly.I did a speedtest and server takes 16 secs to Load FIRST byte.I strongly believe its my php-fpm configuration.Server uses nginx and php only , no mysql etc... My current php-fpm configuration pm.max_children = 50 pm.start_servers = 10 pm.min_spare_servers = 5 pm.max_spare_servers = 35 Server load and ram usage are perfectly fine Please suggest me a good configuration for this server UPDATE: This configuration works fine pm.max_children = 20 pm.start_servers = 7 pm.min_spare_servers = 5 pm.max_spare_servers = 10 pm.max_requests = 100 The problem with first byte load time is solved. However after like 15-20 hours First byte load time increase gradually. I have to reload php-fpm to get small load time Based on my conf above what i modify to it so that first byte load time remain small and i don't have to restart it:P

  • Will I be able to activate my MSDN media Windows Home Server with an OEM license key?

    - by Peter Stuer
Can I go ahead and install a Windows Home Server using an MSDN iso (en_windows_home_server_installation_disc_x86_dvd_x14-24276.iso), and activate it later when my OEM box arrives (OEM sku as bought from Amazon, http://www.amazon.co.uk/Microsoft-OEM-Home-Server-WIN32/dp/B001E5Q8CO/) , or will I have to wait and use the media that ships with the license? I know that you can not do his with the trial, but the MSDN iso is listed as "retail". I do not wish to use the MSDN activation key for this install.

  • Transferring FSMO roles over vpn

    - by Tom Bowman
I have a server located at one of our offices which is quite old and is due to be upgraded soon, this server holds the FSMO roles, I have another server in another office, both are DC's in the same domain and both are replicated, both run Server 2003 standard. I need to transfer the FSMO roles from the old server to the the one I have in the other office before I upgrade. Also I am looking at bringing in Exchange 2010 server however I cant install/configure that until I transfer the roles as it needs to be at the same site as the schema master. My question really is as both servers replicate over a vpn, how quickly will the roles transfer and will there be downtime as I need to make sure that while the transfer is running, both servers will service logon's and share files. or would it be better to do it out of hours? many thanks and apologies if I've missed out anything Regards Tom

  • Can I use Google's Protocol buffers for processing LDAP requests in my LDAP server?

    - by Naga
Hi, I need to process the incoming predefined ASN format data(coming from verity of clients that uses BER library to build it) in my application server. This is typically an LDAP server where every request will be in a predefined ASN format. Can i use Google's protocol buffers to process the requests in the server side? Will it help any way to improve performance of my servers request handling? Is it anyway reduce the number of malloc() calls that happens while processing ASN messages? Thanks, Naga

  • Symantec BE: How is data flow of backups/restore to storage pools?

    - by Kumala
I am evaluating Symantec's BackupExec 2012 and was wondering how does the backup data flow from the server that as being backed up to the storage pool. E.g. My BE server is in city A, the server that I am backing up is in city B and the storage pool that I plan to use is also located in city B. When performing a backup, does the backup data flow from the server in city B to the BE server in city A and back to the storage pool in city B or is it possible to have the backup data go directly from server in city B to storage pool in city B?

  • Binding MySQL to run from the public or private LAN IP address - which one is faster

    - by Lamin Barrow
So we have 2 servers all running at the same web host. We have bind MySQL to listen on the public ip-address of the database server and the web server connects to it from the public ip. Both servers run on the same private network. Currently, the DB connect method from our php script takes about 3ms to connect to the MySQL database server host. My question is, would MySql data interaction from the web server be faster if we bind it to listen on the private lan address on the database server instead of the public IP? or is it the same regardless and it wont make a different. i have moved this question to server fault http://serverfault.com/questions/438156/binding-mysql-to-run-from-the-public-or-private-lan-ip-address-which-one-is-fa

Here's the part of the frontend nginx config in question: server { listen 80; server_name git.domain.com; access_log /server/domain/log/nginx.access.log; error_log /server/domain/log/nginx_error.log debug; location / { proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1:8020/; proxy_redirect off; proxy_set_header Host $host; proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for; proxy_max_temp_file_size 0; client_max_body_size 10m; client_body_buffer_size 128k; proxy_connect_timeout 90; proxy_send_timeout 90; proxy_read_timeout 90; proxy_buffer_size 4k; proxy_buffers 4 32k; proxy_busy_buffers_size 64k; proxy_temp_file_write_size 64k; } } server { listen 80; server_name domain.com; access_log /server/domain/log/nginx.access.log; error_log /server/domain/log/nginx_error.log debug; location / { proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1:8000/; proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for; proxy_set_header Host $http_host; proxy_redirect off; proxy_set_header X_FORWARDED_PROTO https; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for; } } Finally here's the backend for git.domain.com: server { listen 8020; #server_name localhost; root /server/gitorious/gitorious/public/; passenger_enabled on; proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for; proxy_set_header Host $http_host; proxy_redirect off; proxy_set_header X_FORWARDED_PROTO https; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for; } So here's the problem. When I type in git.domain.com, my gitorious install will redirect to domain.com. It works perfect there, but it ignores the subdomain. At first I thought it was the server_name construct. I have tried git.domain.com, domain.com, localhost, and currently none. Any ideas?

  • Can /etc/hosts.deny/allow be overridden?

    - by Tar
I have security measures put in place to keep unwanted users out of my server. I've changed the SSH port, disabled root login, have a software firewall to block portscans, and have entries in hosts.deny and hosts.allow. I have various services denied to all but another server of mine should my IP change, and two other administrators + my own IP address. My question is, can hosts.deny/allow configuration be overridden so that they can gain access to my server? Does using chroot jail for running things like an IRC server and Teamspeak server prevent people from gaining access to my server and screwing with it?

  • Nginx .zip files return 404

    - by Kenley Tomlin
    I have set up Nginx as a reverse proxy for Node and to serve my static files and user uploaded images. Everything is working beautifully except that I can't understand why Nginx can't find my .zip files. Here is my nginx.conf. user nginx; worker_processes 1; error_log /var/log/nginx/error.log warn; pid /var/run/nginx.pid; events { worker_connections 1024; } http { include mime.types; proxy_cache_path /var/www/web_cache levels=1:2 keys_zone=ooparoopaweb_cache:8m max_size=1000m inactive=600m; sendfile on; upstream *******_node { server 172.27.198.66:8888 max_fails=3 fail_timeout=20s; #fair weight_mode=idle no_rr } upstream ******_json_node { server 172.27.176.57:3300 max_fails=3 fail_timeout=20s; } server { #REDIRECT ALL HTTP REQUESTS FOR FRONT-END SITE TO HTTPS listen 80; server_name *******.com www.******.com; return 301 https://$host$request_uri; } server { #MOBILE APPLICATION PROXY TO NODE JSON listen 3300 ssl; ssl_certificate /*****/*******/json_ssl/server.crt; ssl_certificate_key /*****/******/json_ssl/server.key; server_name json.*******.com; location / { proxy_pass http://******_json_node; proxy_redirect off; proxy_set_header Host $host ; proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr ; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for ; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-Proto https; client_max_body_size 20m; client_body_buffer_size 128k; proxy_connect_timeout 90s; proxy_send_timeout 90s; proxy_read_timeout 90s; proxy_buffers 32 4k; } } server { #******.COM FRONT-END SITE PROXY TO NODE WEB SERVER listen 443 ssl; ssl_certificate /***/***/web_ssl/********.crt; ssl_certificate_key /****/*****/web_ssl/myserver.key; server_name mydomain.com www.mydomain.com; add_header Strict-Transport-Security max-age=500; location / { gzip on; gzip_types text/html text/css application/json application/x-javascript; proxy_pass http://mydomain_node; proxy_redirect off; proxy_set_header Host $host ; proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr ; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for ; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-Proto https; client_max_body_size 20m; client_body_buffer_size 128k; proxy_connect_timeout 90s; proxy_send_timeout 90s; proxy_read_timeout 90s; proxy_buffers 32 4k; } } server { #ADMIN SITE PROXY TO NODE BACK-END listen 80; server_name admin.mydomain.com; location / { proxy_pass http://mydomain_node; proxy_redirect off; proxy_set_header Host $host ; proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr ; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for ; client_max_body_size 20m; client_body_buffer_size 128k; proxy_connect_timeout 90s; proxy_send_timeout 90s; proxy_read_timeout 90s; proxy_buffers 32 4k; } } server { # SERVES STATIC FILES listen 80; listen 443 ssl; ssl_certificate /**/*****/server.crt; ssl_certificate_key /****/******/server.key; server_name static.domain.com; access_log static.domain.access.log; root /var/www/mystatic/; location ~*\.(jpeg|jpg|png|ico)$ { gzip on; gzip_types text/plain text/css application/json application/x-javascript text/xml application/xml application/rss+xml text/javascript image/svg+xml application/vnd.ms-fontobject application/x-font-ttf font/opentype image/png image/jpeg application/zip; expires 10d; add_header Cache-Control public; } location ~*\.zip { #internal; add_header Content-Type "application/zip"; add_header Content-Disposition "attachment; filename=gamezip.zip"; } } } include tcp.conf; Tcp.conf contains settings that allow Nginx to proxy websockets. I don't believe anything contained within it is relevant to this question. I also want to add that I want the zip files to be a forced download.

  • Why do ASP.NET applications appear to be running in a terminal server session?

    - by Heinzi
Running the following ASPX page (IIS 6, Server 2003 R2) <%@ Page Language="vb" AutoEventWireup="false" %> <% Response.Write("Am I running in a terminal server session: " & _ System.Windows.Forms.SystemInformation.TerminalServerSession) %> yields the following output: Am I running in a terminal server session: True Why? IIS is running as a service, not as a Terminal Services application... (BTW, according to Reflector, SystemInformation.TerminalServerSession is just a wrapper for GetSystemMetrics(SM_REMOTESESSION).)

  • How to alter mail-from postfix?

    - by Simon
Hi all, do anyone know how to alter the mail-from of a postfix mail server? Example, I have a postfix mail server which sends mail for the domain example.org. When a linux user, whose account is user.example.org (mapped in postfix/virtual to [email protected]), try to send an email, its mail from is [email protected]. HELO hostname: server.hostname.org Source IP: one ip here mail-from: [email protected] Problems: user.example.org instead of just user. server.hostname.org instead of just example.org. Desired mail-from: [email protected]. This is causing me problems with SPF records for example (example.org differs from server.hostname.org)... any idea of what can be the problem? Thanks in advance, Simon.

  • Serving Meteor on main domain and Apache on subdomain independently

    - by kinologik
I'm running a Meteor server on my Ubuntu server. But problems arise when I try to have Apache serving a subdomain on the same server. main.domain.com - Meteor sub.domain.com - Apache Meteor is running on port 80. I have previously tried to have Meteor run on port 3000 and served in reverse proxy with Nginx, but Meteor started to behave badly (tcp/websockets issues) and I spent too many evenings and nights to persist for my own sake. So I reverted my setup to have Meteor being the main server (app works fine), and then install Apache the serve my subdomain. The problem is I cannot have Apache serve on port 80 too since it seems to overrun my Meteor server. From experience, I try to stay away from reverse-proxying Meteor, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to get Apache to dedicate itself to my subdomain and without overwhelming "everything port 80" on my server. How can I have both services behave with each other in this kind of setup?

  • FTP an entire folder via the command line

    - by Chris Southam
I'm looking so migrate some websites to a new server. I have SSH access to the current one but only FTP access to the new one. How can I via Centos and SSH copy entire folders to the new server via FTP? I can log into the new server via the built in FTP client on Centos but I'm not sure of the commands after this. I need to move the httpdocs folder from the old to the public_html folder of the new server. I'd love to do this server to server as it'll be a lot quicker than download - upload via my broadband connection. Yours, Chris

  • OpenVPN Push DNS Not Working Correctly On Windows

    - by woodsbw
I currently have OpenVPN server setup on an Ubuntu machine, as well as DNSMasq. I am wanting to push DNS to the client (road warrior setup.) I had the push "dhcp-option DNS x.x.x.x" where x.x.x.x was an open OpenDNS server, for testing, and everything was working when I connected from my Windows client But now that I have DNSMasq setup, and I changed the "dhcp-option DNS x.x.x.x" to the DNSMasq server, but when they client connects it still receives the old, OpenDNS DNS server IP. I'm at a bit of a loss here, I have tried flushing DNS on the client, rebooting the server, and I even grep'd the entire server to see if the OpenDNS IP was in some other config I was missing...it wasn't. One other note, when connect to the VPN and explicitly run nslookup against against the DNSMasq IP, the addresses resolve correctly, so it isn't a DNSMasq issue.
