  • Why is this c# snippet legal?

    - by Sir Psycho
Silly question, but why does the following line compile? int[] i = new int[] {1,}; As you can see, I haven't entered in the second element and left a comma there. Still compiles even though you would expect it not to.

  • How to convert nib/xib to objective C code?

    - by Mickey Shine
I am just wondering is there a way to convert nib/xib file to ojbective C code? I just want to find the equivalent code to the nib/xib file (I've tried nib2objc, seems the result is not what I am after). Actually I want to compile this example http://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/samplecode/TableSearch/index.html without nib/xib file (I want it exactly the same with original), any idea about doing this?

  • Counting HTML images with Python

    - by user2537246
I need some feedback on how to count HTML images with Python 3.01 after extracting them, maybe my regular expression are used properly. Here is my code: import re, os import urllib.request def get_image(url): url = 'http://www.google.com' total = 0 try: f = urllib.request.urlopen(url) for line in f.readline(): line = re.compile('<img.*?src="(.*?)">') if total > 0: x = line.count(total) total += x print('Images total:', total) except: pass

  • prohibiting instantiation as a temporary object (C++)

    - by SuperElectric
I like using sentry classes in c++, but I seem to have a mental affliction that results in repeatedly writing bugs like the following: { MySentryClass(arg); // ... other code } Needless to say, this fails because the sentry dies immediately after creation, rather than at the end of the scope, as intended. Is there some way to prevent MySentryClass from being instantiated as a temporary, so that the above code either fails to compile, or at least aborts with an error message at runtime?

  • Help me understand this C code

    - by Benjamin
INT GetTree (HWND hWnd, HTREEITEM hItem, HKEY *pRoot, TCHAR *pszKey, INT nMax) { TV_ITEM tvi; TCHAR szName[256]; HTREEITEM hParent; HWND hwndTV = GetDlgItem (hWnd, ID_TREEV); memset (&tvi, 0, sizeof (tvi)); hParent = TreeView_GetParent (hwndTV, hItem); if (hParent) { // Get the parent of the parent of the... GetTree (hWnd, hParent, pRoot, pszKey, nMax); // Get the name of the item. tvi.mask = TVIF_TEXT; tvi.hItem = hItem; tvi.pszText = szName; tvi.cchTextMax = dim(szName); TreeView_GetItem (hwndTV, &tvi); //send the TVM_GETITEM message? lstrcat (pszKey, TEXT ("\\")); lstrcat (pszKey, szName); } else { *pszKey = TEXT ('\0'); szName[0] = TEXT ('\0'); // Get the name of the item. tvi.mask = TVIF_TEXT | TVIF_PARAM; tvi.hItem = hItem; tvi.pszText = szName; tvi.cchTextMax = dim(szName); if (TreeView_GetItem (hwndTV, &tvi)) //*pRoot = (HTREEITEM)tvi.lParam; //original hItem = (HTREEITEM)tvi.lParam; else { INT rc = GetLastError(); } } return 0; } The block of code that begins with the comment "Get the name of the item" does not make sense to me. If you are getting the listview item why does the code set the parameters of the item being retrieved? If you already had the values there would be no need to retrieve them. Secondly near the comment "original" is the original line of code which will compile with a warning under embedded visual c++ 4.0, but if you copy the exact same code into visual studio 2008 it will not compile. Since I did not write any of this code, and am trying to learn, is it possible the original author made a mistake on this line? The *pRoot should point to HKEY type yet he is casting to an HTREEITEM type which should never work since the data types don't match?

  • Qt Creator draws up build issue: "target pattern contains no %. Stop."

    - by Louis93
The compile output says no% in line 240 of the makefile. Here is an extract of that portion in the Makefile: debug/lv.simplon.class.o: c:/SimplonQt/include/lv.simplon.class.cpp $(CXX) -c $(CXXFLAGS) $(INCPATH) -o debug/lv.simplon.class.o c:/SimplonQt/include/lv.simplon.class.cpp I'm loading a project I have saved in my C drive in Windows, but I am not sure what exactly is the cause of the problem. Thanks in advance!

  • New iPhone Dev policy

    - by milesmeow
Apple doesn't want anyone to create iPhone apps outside of the Xcode/Objective-C environment. How can they actually reinforce this? If the other IDE's, for example Unity, compiles to an iPhone executable, how will Apple know which dev environment you used to create the app? Can they have Xcode compile some sort of signature into the executable that no one knows about?

  • convert any language into PHP sourcecode

    - by dreftymac
Question: Is there any such thing as a programming language (other than an esoteric language such as BrainF@#$, or the languages PHP or VB) that you can "compile" into non-obfuscated PHP source code? Rationale: Swip wants to generate ordinary PHP code because it is so ubiquitous for the types of projects swip wants to do. Unfortunately swip would like to actually avoid writing PHP -- strange but true! Swip is crazy enough to want to generate PHP source code without having to type any PHP into Swip's editor.

  • Android Source Not Compilable?

    - by GuyNoir
So I've been looking at code from various parts of the Android git, but when I try to load and compile many of them (camera, media player, etc) they reference classes and parts of the SDK that just aren't available even with my SDK version updated to 2.2. (for example the bitmap config option inNativeAlloc) Is there a reason that these are not in the SDK given out to developers?

  • Link User32 with gcc

    - by Tim Cooper
I have a C program which has a function call that is defined in windows.h (which I have included), however, when I try and compile it with gcc, I get the error: warning: implicit declaration of function `LockWorkStation' I looked at the MSDN documentation and I see that this function is the User32 library file, and I was wondering how I would go about linking that to my file.

  • SubSonic template with MySQL

    - by jstevenson86
When I run the custom tool to create the cs files for SubSonic all the templates now inject a letter g to the top of the cs files. To get this to compile I need to remove the g from the ActiveRecord.cs, Struts.cs, Context.cs and StoredProcedures.cs. Anyone else run into this? I am using MySQL.

The following lines work when I enter them by hand on the Scala REPL (2.7.7): trait myTrait { override def toString = "something" } implicit def myTraitToString(input: myTrait): String = input.toString object myObject extends myTrait val s: String = myObject However, if I try to compile file with it I get the following error: [error] myTrait.scala:37: expected start of definition [error] implicit def myTraitToString(input: myTrait): String = input.toString [error] ^ Why? Thanks!

  • How should I detect unnecessary #include files in a large C++ project?

    - by shambolic
I am working on a large C++ project in Visual Studio 2008, and there are a lot of files with unnecessary #include's. Sometimes the #include's are just artifacts and everything will compile fine with them removed, and in other cases classes could be forward declared and the #include could be moved to the .cpp file. Are there any good tools for detecting both of these cases?

  • Term for cross-browser/desktop applications?

    - by AaronLS
Is there a term that describes applications that can compile as both browser and desktop applications? An example would be an Adobe Flex application being compiled as a Flash application for display in a browser and also being compiled as an Air application to be run as a desktop application.

  • Simulating remote environment?

    - by ropstah
I'm building a .NET MVC application which will be deployed on a Windows 2003 server. The server has a folder @ c:\Website\Files which needs to be written to from the application. How do I cope with this in my development environment so that the MSI setup file, which I will compile, will work correctly when deployed? p.s. the folder is NOT located in a subdirectory of the application project

  • Compiling SWC file from FDT

    - by WillDonohoe
Hi guys, I've made a library which I'd like to compile to an SWC file, I've tried to do this in FDT by choosing FDT AS3 Library as Run settings, but all I end up with is a 0kb .swc file. Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong? I can't find much when I google it either, if anybody has a quick walkthrough on how to do it saved in your bookmarks or something, that would be great! Many thanks, Will
