• XSL Doctype Issue

  I'm having issues with an XSL template that is outputting to HTML. There is a javascript being rendered on the resulting HTML page that requires a strict doctype in order to work across all browsers. However, I cant get the doctype to show up. Any thoughts on this? Would it be possible to insert it dynamically, using javascript or php? Any help is appreciated.

  I am logging into facebook using a web browser.   I have a form in a large box, to be filled in by the user with up to 2500 characters. Currently, the cursor starts in the vertical center of the box and I would like: a) The cursor to start at the top left of the field instead of the middle left, so that there is no whitespace above the user's entered text. or b) Somehow enabling a field that expands to fit its text to expand as the text is being entered. As far as I can tell, text fields set to expand to fit the text inside only expand once the user has taken their cursor off the field. Thanks for your help!

• Issue with .cab file (ActiveX) installation on Windows Vista and 7

  I have made an ActiveX control and have made its .cab file for automatic installation on client machine using Internet Explorer.. It working fine of Windows XP, but on windows Vista and Windows 7 its installation is blocked by UAC (User account control), and when I disable it, all things works fine... I have signed my .cab file with a certificate for development enviornment... What is the way to over come this problem.. I don't want to tell users to disable their UAC module...

• Makefile issue with compiling a C++ program

  I recently got MySQL compiled and working on Cygwin, and got a simple test example from online to verify that it worked. The test example compiled and ran successfully. However, when incorporating MySQL in a hobby project of mine it isn't compiling which I believe is due to how the Makefile is setup, I have no experience with Makefiles and after reading tutorials about them, I have a better grasp but still can't get it working correctly.   I am creating an app using PhoneGap 1.5 (Cordova) and the ChildBrowser Plugin (newest version with naming for PG 1.5 / Cordova.) I use the ChildBrowser plugin to display webpages, PDFs etc. in the app. In previous versions of PG the Whitelist wasn't as restrictive and would load external resources (css/js etc.) located on remote servers / CDNs called from webpages displayed in the ChildBrowser as long as the main URL was Whitelisted. This appears to have changed and I cannot find a way around it. Is there a way to allow all URLs to be whitelisted as long as they are loaded through an already whitelisted URL, or is whitelisting every single possible URL the only way? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  Two models (Rails 2.3.8): User; username & disabled properties; User has_one :profile Profile; full_name & hidden properties I am trying to create a named_scope that eliminate the disabled=1 and hidden=1 User-Profiles. Moreover, while the User model is usually used in conjunction with the Profile model, I would like the flexibility to be able specify this using the :include = :profile syntax. I have the following User named_scope: named_scope :visible, { :joins => "INNER JOIN profiles ON users.id=profiles.user_id", :conditions => ["users.disabled = ? AND profiles.hidden = ?", false, false] } This works as expected when just reference the User model: >> User.visible.map(&:username).flatten => ["user a", "user b", "user c", "user d"] However, when I attempt to include the Profile model: User.visible(:include=> :profiles).profile.map(&:full_name).flatten I get an error that reads: NoMethodError: undefined method `profile' for #<User:0x1030bc828> Am I able to cross model-collection boundaries in this manner?

• Javascript iframe caching issue

  I hava an iframe which loads some javascript via javascript. In internet explorer only, this works if and only if IE has a cached copy of the javascript. This means that reloading the page (or otherwise triggering the script to run again, if it's stuck in a function or whatever) will cause this code to work, otherwise it will not. In particular, the document.write call fails to happen. • OpenExeConfiguration Path Issue

  I'm trying to load an web.config from a server. Its placed at: \server\folders\web.config when i try this: ConfigurationManager.OpenExeConfiguration(@"\\server\folders\web.config"); it searches for: web.config.config and fails. ConfigurationManager.OpenExeConfiguration(@"\\server\folders\web"); it fails, because there is no folder \server\folders\web\ So i tried several things and it seems as its checking wether the file the path is pointing on exists, and afterwards it appliers a .config and gets the config file. Just for fun i created an web.loaders file, and a web.loaders.config file. with ConfigurationManager.OpenExeConfiguration(@"\\server\folders\web.local"); it loads the \server\folders\web.local.config perfectly, but throws Exceptions without the web.local file. So there a many ways to get this small thing loaded, but isn't there a more nice one than using a temp .web file or something? Any help i highly appreciated, yours Harry

• Help with z-index issue with menu in IE7

  Hello, Could you explain me, why Makefile rule: clean: rm -f foo.{bar1,bar2,bar3} does not result in removing files: foo.bar1 foo.bar2 and foo.bar3? I believe I saw pattern like that many times in various Makefiles, but I'm currently writing my own Makefile and can't make that rule work correctly (no files are removed). I'm using: gnu make 3.81 gnu bash 4.1.5 Bash evals that pattern as I suspect: $ echo test.{a,b,c} test.a test.b test.c Thanks!

• Issue on passing a checkbox set to an AppEngine script through jQuery Ajax/Json

  I have a set of checkboxes with multiple choice allowed. However, the Python script just bugs. If i change dataTrap.route_days value to a string instead of the JSON encoded object, everything works fine. My question is: how can i pass a checkbox set to the script using Ajax and still be able to iterate over it on the script?

• Dependency issue with MSBuild 4.0 when doing DllImport from C# into unmanaged C++ library

  Explicitly setting dependency in VS2010 between unmanaged C++ project and C# project is honored in VS2010, but dependency is ignored in MSBuild 4.0. It is impossible to add a reference to unmanaged C++ project from C# project, afaik. How do i ensure correct build order if a solution contains unmanaged and managed projects?

  Hey All, Okay, so I have a viewController method that has some elements created with interface builder and some I coded myself. I created a view in the IB...lets call it viewOne. I created a loop that creates buttons (through code) and places them on a separate view (viewTwo). This is done in a class method. However, I want the view I made to be opened everytime one of the buttons is clicked. So I did: [button addTarget:self action:@selector(woogoo:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; The woogoo class does the following: +(void) woogoo:(id)sender { //back button [self.view addSubview:viewOne] } However, the program crashes when a button is clicked. I did try making woogoo an instance method but it also crashes in this case too. All I want to do is show viewOne when a button is clicked. Any ideas what I can do?

• Android depth buffer issue: Advice for anyone experiencing problem

  I've wasted around 30 hours this week writing and re-writing code, believing that I had misunderstood how the OpenGL depth buffer works. Everything I tried, failed. I have now resolved my problem by finding what may be an error in the Android implementation of OpenGL. See this API entry: http://www.opengl.org/sdk/docs/man/xhtml/glClearDepth.xml void glClearDepth(GLclampd depth); Specifies the depth value used when the depth buffer is cleared. The initial value is 1. Android's implementation has two versions of this command: glClearDepthx which takes an integer value, clamped 0-1 glClearDepthf which takes a floating point value, clamped 0-1 If you use glClearDepthf(1) then you get the results you would expect. If you use glClearDepthx(1), as I was doing then you get different results. (Note that 1 is the default value, but calling the command with the argument 1 produces different results than not calling it at all.) Quite what is happening I do not know, but the depth buffer was being cleared to a value different from what I had specified.

• Caching issue with javascript and asp.net

  Hi guys: I asked a question a while back on here regarding caching data for a calendar/scheduling web app, and got some good responses. However, I have now decided to change my approach and stat caching the data in javascript. I am directly caching the HTML for each day's column in the calendar grid inside the $('body').data() object, which gives very fast page load times (almost unnoticable). However, problems start to arise when the user requests data that is not yet in the cache. This data is created by the server using an ajax call, so it's asynchronous, and takes about 0.2s per week's data. My current approach is simply to block for 0.5s when the user requests information from the server, and cache 4 weeks either side in the inital page load (and 1 extra week per page change request), however I doubt this is the optimal method. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to improve the situation? To summarise: Each week takes 0.2s to retrieve from the server, asynchronously. Performance must be as close to real-time as possible. (however the data is not needed to be fully real-time: most appointments are added by the user and so we can re-cache after this) Currently 4 weeks are cached on either side of the inial week loaded: this is not enough. to cache 1 year takes ~ 21s, this is too slow for an initial load.
