Thanks in advance.
Can anyone explain how to start with iPhone and iPad development?
Dont you have to pay? or is it just pay when you release?
I dont see where to get the iPad SDK or anything.
I already have XCode 3.2.1 on Snow Leopard.
How hard would it be to port a flash game to the iPhone. Obviously Flash CS5 is no longer an options, I still would like to know if there's anything that can be reused? or do I have to write everything from scratch (Is Obj-C that different than ActionScript?) Is there any other shortcuts?
Also, if anyone has done this before please share your experience.

Hey Guys
Im thinking about making a suggestion box for my next iPhone app.
Whats the best way to go about this? I was thinking an ModalViewController, a text box that emails out?
Are there any other(better ways) to do it?
Any expertise would be appreciated

Hi, In my app I use the getdistancefrom method in my app and get a distance between a current location and another set location.
I would like to as well find the direction the other set location is in. What would the code look like to make this iPhone sdk call.
The output would look something like: Location is 500 feet North West
Thanks!
Have looked so long for a library specialized in dealing with iPhone Accelerometer but couldn't find anything.
I have made some few sample apps, but none reaches a level of accuracy as in Labyrinth games for example, so any idea about a library for that? Or maybe an open source app?
Would be better if it's integrated in a Physics library
An activity indicator view is useful in many applications.
Any ideas about how to add, activiate and dismiss an activity indicator view on iPhone?
All the methods for this are welcomed here.
Hi,
I want to use a protocol, how can we implement it in iPhone.
@protocol BasicAPI
-(NSString*)hello;
@end
// In Some method
NSURL* url = [NSURL URLWithString@"http://www.caucho.com/hessian/test/basic"];
id<BasicAPI> proxy = (id<BasicApi>)[CWHessianConnection proxyWithURL:url protocol:@protocol(basicAPI)];
NSLog(@"hello: %@", [proxy hello]);
Please help me how I can implement above code?
Hello,
I am using FacebookConnect on the iPhone to integrate my app with Facebook.
Unfortunatly I've always "cookies required" when trying to login.
Are you also encountering this issue or do you know what may cause this issue?
Thanks in advance for your help :)

I've been working on an iPhone application in XCode and Interface Builder of the Tab Bar project type. After getting a table view of topics (business sectors) working fine I realized that I would need to add a Navigation Control to allow the user to drill into a subtopics (subsectors) table.
As a green Objective-C developer, that was confusing, but I managed to get it working by reading various documentation trying out a few different IB options. My current setup is a Tab Bar Controller with Tab 1 as a Navigation Controller and Tab 2 a plain view with a Table View placed into it. The wiring works: I can log when table rows are selected and I'm ready to push a new View Controller onto the stack so that I can display the subtopics Table View.
My problem: For some reason the first tab's Table View is a delegate and dataSource of the second ta. It doesn't make sense to me and I can't figure out why that's the only setup that works.
Here is the wiring:
Navigation Controller (Sectors) is a
delegate of Tab Bar
Navigation Bar is
a delegate of Navigation Controller
(Sectors)
View Contoller (Sectors) has a view of Table View
Table View (in Navigation
Controller (Sectors)) is a delegate
of First View Controller
(Companies)
Table View (in Navigation
Controller (Sectors)) is a dataSource outlet of First View Controller
(Companies)
First View Controller (Companies)
First View Contoller (Sectors) has a view of Table View
Table View (in First View Controller (Companies)) is not hooked up to a dataSource outlet and is not a delegate
When I click the tab buttons and look at the Inspector I see that the first tab is correctly hooked up to my MainWindow.xib and the second tab has selected a nib called SecondView.xib. It's in the File's Owner of MainWindow.xib where I inherit UITableViewDataSource and UITableViewDelegate (and also UITabBarControllerDelegate) in the .h, and in the .m where I implement the delegate methods.
Why does this setup only work when the Table View in my first tab (View Controller (Sectors)) is a delegate and dataSource of the second tab? I'm confused: why wouldn't it need to be hooked up to the Navigation Controller-enabled tab in which the Table View is seen (Navigation Controller (Sectors))? The Table View seen on the second tab has neither dataSource and is not a delegate.
I'm having trouble getting a pushViewController to fire (self.navigationController is not nil but the new View Controller still doesn't load) and I suspect that I need to work out this IB wiring issue before I can troubleshoot why the Nav Controller won't push a new View Controller onto the stack.
if(nil == self.navigationController) {
NSLog(@"self.navigationController is nil.");
} else {
NSLog(@"self.navigationController is not nil.");
SectorList *subsectorViewController = [[SectorList alloc] initWithNibName:@"SectorList" bundle:nil];
subsectorViewController.title = @"Subsectors";
[[self navigationController] pushViewController:subsectorViewController animated:YES];
[subsectorViewController release];
}
Hi,
I am wondering if anyone can advise on the best way to add a FAQ page in iphone app. I would like to display a 'local' file (perhaps HTML) with local images into a web view. Essentialy to enable users access to FAQ within the app.
Any advice on whether to use HTML or any other way of doing this will be very helpful..
Thanks in advance..

What exactly does an operating system do? I know that operating systems can be programmed, in, for example, C++, but I previously believed that C++ programs must be run under an operating system? Can somebody please explain and give links? thanks in advance, ell
I'm wondering what's the easiest/best way to determine if a sound, being recorded on the iPhone mic, is above a certain frequency.
My guess is that I would need to use the Audio Queue Services since I don't need to record the audio to a file.
I'm using SDK 4.0, so I can use the FFT functions in the Accelerate framework if needed.
Hi,
I have a file with Chinese text that I want to use in my xcode project (I'm planning to load it through a database as it is lot of text), the problem is I dont know how to add the font to my project so that its viewable when used on an iPhone?
Thanks :)
Hi!
Users authenticate normally on my iPhone app, and the permission for publish_stream is requested correctly. When the user want to post something on his wall, the text is transmitted to my backend and the backend posts it (with the transmitted session key) to the users facebook wall. The first post is always possible but at the second, the response is:
"The user hasn't authorized the application to perform this action"
But I was already able to post some seconds ago. What is wrong?
Best
Steve
iPhone Human Interface Guidelines -- Do they apply for OpenGL games? GL games typically have custom buttons, custom lists, etc. Take the Quake player list for example, if ported, it wouldnt be a typical UI list object. Does this mean the reviewer in question would reject anything that wasn't using standard UI? Or, is there an exception for games.
Is it possible that the iPhone can somehow send data or some control command to the computer's com ports via USB cable? Maybe use inline assembly language for instance? Thanks!
