• Rails select list reverts to top?

  Hi Everyone, I have number of select lists in my rails application like this: <li>Company<span><%= f.select :company_id, Company.all.collect {|m| [m.companyname, m.id]} %></span></li> They all work well, except - sometimes if you go to the edit view, the select list reverts to the top item, not the item that was chosen when creating. So if you go to an edit view and then click update without actually making any changes, the lists default to the top item - even though you didn't touch them. Is there a way around this? • Address search from large text file

  Basically I want to develop a Address lookup(part of my project) using C# (and I can use SQL if necessary). I have a very large text file which have all the UK address and postcodes. Addresses needs to be looked up from this text file. For example, as soon as a user type in the first letter of the postcode it should list all the postcodes starting with that letter and as they type in further, the list should narrow down. Could you guys please how I can do this search very fast and list the results in a efficient way. If you guys know any methods and technologies pls do advice.

• Data recovery after user profile corruption on Windows XP

  I'm away from home for college, and my computer back home has been having some issues. My dad took it to a computer store, and apparently the user profiles somehow got corrupted, so they're locked out of the computer. This is a Windows XP box, but I changed the default administrator account password, so that backdoor isn't a possibility. Now, that computer's HDD has a whole bunch of data on it which my dad would hate to lose, so I suggested that they take the HDD out, plug it into some other computer, and just copy all the data off that way (keeping in mind that the data itself wasn't encrypted). However, the computer store people said that wouldn't be possible unless they had the administrator account password (which I can't remember for the life of me), and that they'd either have to reformat and reinstall Windows, or else use some complicated sounding recovery process costing a decent amount of money. That sounds like complete BS to me, but I'm not 100% sure about it, so I thought I'd get some more opinions. Could someone more knowledgeable about this stuff suggest a good course of action to take?

  Hi, folks have a look at the following piece of code, which shows a list comprehension.. >>> i = 6 >>> s = [i * i for i in range(100)] >>> print(i) When you execute the code example in Python 2.6 it prints 99, but when you execute it in Python 3.x it prints 6. What were the reason for changing the behaviour and why is the output 6 in Python 3.x? Thank you in advance!

  So I'm new to haskell and I've been playing with it for a while now. I want to get my function that outputs all list permutations to work. I have written 2 implementations, one works well, the other is giving me an error. Any help would be awesome. This is the first (working) implementation: permute [] = [[]] permute xs = [y| x <- xs, y <- map (x:) $ permute $ delete x xs] This one is giving me an error: permute [] = [[]] permute xs = map (\x -> map (x:) $ permute $ delete x xs) xs and here's the error message: Occurs check: cannot construct the infinite type: t0 = [t0] Expected type: [t0] Actual type: [[t0]] In the expression: map (x :) $ permute $ delete x xs In the first argument of `map', namely `(\ x -> map (x :) $ permute $ delete x xs)' I'd appreciate if someone could explain why I'm getting this error.   I've had the following <a> tag: <a href="http://myserver/_forms?url={@FileRef}&amp;id=5">...</a> One of the files is called "File's got apostrophe.xml". The output of the XSL is: <a href="http://myserver/_forms?url=/blah/File&amp;#39;s got apostrophe.xml&id=5">...</a> The problem is the the apostrophe is HTML-escaped (twice?) into &amp;#39;, which breaks the link. I've also tried using <xsl:attribute>, with same results: <a> <xsl:attribute name="href"> <xsl:value-of select="concat('http://myserver/_forms?url=', @FileRef, '&amp;id=5')" disable-output-escaping="yes" /> </xsl:attribute> </a> Outputting <xsl:value-of select="@FileRef" disable-output-escaping="yes" /> works well - the unescaped value is printed on the page. How can I set the attribute without escaping the string?

  Hi, I have some problems understanding the linear linked list data structure. This is how I define a list element: class Node{ Object data; Node link; public Node(Object pData, Node pLink){ this.data = pData; this.link = pLink; } } To keep it simple we say that a list are linked nodes so we do not need to define a class list (recursion principle). My problem is that I am really confused in understanding how nodes are connected, more precisely the sequence of the nodes when we connect them.   I have a case where I am using the ArrayList to keep a list of items that are keyed by their position in the list. Other objects reference the ArrayList items by their position. If I delete one of the items from the list, I don't want the list to shrink because that would invalidate all other references to items in the list (e.g. item 2 is now in position 1). My solution to the shrinking array list problem is to null the position in the arraylist so that the list will not shrink. I am curious whether this will free the memory formerly held by the item at that position. If there is a better way to accomplish this requirement, I would like to know about it.

I did the following: for(i in _root){ if(typeof(_root[i])=="movieclip"){ trace(_root[i]);} } But this is good for a first level search: that is, if inside the movieclips you have other movieclips, you can't reach them.
