    I simply want a stored procedure that calculates a unique id and inserts it. If it fails it just calls itself to regenerate said id. I have been looking for an example, but cant find one, and am not sure how I should get the sp to call itself, and set the appropriate output parameter. I would also appreciate someone pointing out how to test this sp also.     I am experimenting with HTML and JavaScript. The following code should print something when entering a keystroke in a textbox: <html> <body> <input type="text" id="commandInput" name="command" size="50" /> <script type="text/javascript"> var commandInput = document.getElementById("commandInput"); commandInput.onkeydown = function (evt) { document.writeln("Test"); }; </script> </body> </html> For some reason the textbox disappears when entering a keystroke, leaving nothing but a white page. Any ideas why this is happening?

    I'm writing an HTML5 canvas visualization. According to the Chrome Developer Tools profiler, 90% of the work is being done in (program), which I assume is the V8 interpreter at work calling functions and switching contexts and whatnot. Other than logic optimizations (e.g., only redrawing parts of the visualization that have changed), what can I do to optimize the CPU usage of my JavaScript? I'm willing to sacrifice some amount of readability and extensibility for performance. Is there a big list I'm missing because my Google skills suck? I have some ideas but I'm not sure if they're worth it: Limit function calls When possible, use arrays instead of objects and properties Use variables for math operation results as much as possible Cache common math operations such as Math.PI / 180 Use sin and cos approximation functions instead of Math.sin() and Math.cos() Reuse objects when passing around data instead of creating new ones Replace Math.abs() with ~~ Study jsperf.com until my eyes bleed Use a preprocessor on my JavaScript to do some of the above operations

I'm using PHP 4 for now so I can't use str_ireplace, I have this: $encoded_str=str_replace('CD1','',$encoded_str); $encoded_str=str_replace('cd1','',$encoded_str); $encoded_str=preg_replace('X','',$encoded_str); I've RTFM for preg_replace but am a bit confused. What should I replace the X with and can you suggest a decent introductory primer for writing regular expressions?

    I've got a script that reads in from a CSV file and sometimes the CSV files it receives contains an uneven amount of delimiters/columns so the first row could have 30 columns, the 2nd could have 20, etc. I can think of a few solutions myself ie: Count the delimiters in the widest row, then append the proper amount to each row that is short to make them even. But I was wondering if anyone had a more elegant method of doing this.

    I have an app which uses Core data and the values are fetched from a link on internet. This runs absolutely fine when I am creating a serial queue in AppDelegate and I am not facing any problem with the same. Now, when I am trying to re-create similar scenario in a UITableViewController and executing the same in a serial queue but when the control reaches NSError *error; NSArray *match = [context executeFetchRequest:fetchRequest error:&error]; execution control disappears and then this code remains in the execution till eternity. Can anyone help me with what exactly is wrong here? FYI, I am passing the same ManagedObjectContext to the serial queue.
