    I'm not sure if this valid C# but hopefully you get the idea. :) switch (msg.GetType()) { case ClassA: // blah case ClassB: // blah 2 case ClassC: // blah 3 } How would I switch on an object's type but using VB.NET's Select Case? I'm aware that some might suggest using polymorphism but I'm using a hierarchy of small message classes so that really wouldn't work in my csae.

    I have a MustInherit Parent class with two Child classes which Inherit from the Parent. How can I use (or Cast) Me in a Parent function as the the child type of that instance? EDIT: My actual goal is to be able to serialize (BinaryFormatter.Serialize(Stream, Object)) either of my child classes. However, "repeating the code" in each child "seems" wrong.

    Whenever I try to open a project (csproj) that's downloaded from the internet, most of the times, I get the "The project type is not supported by this installation" It appears that my Visual Studio installation is not corrupted (I can pretty much do everything with it other than open these csproj files) What may be causing this?

    I know that there are simmilar questions like this on the forum, however I am still having problems to update a datetime field o the database. I dont get any problems when inserting but I get problems when updating and I am formating the same way , like this: e.Values.Item("SelectionStartDate") = Format(startdate, "yyyy-MM-dd") + " " + startTime1 + ".000" startTime is of type string. I have tried different solution that I came across on the internet but still get this error. Please help. Thanks in advance

Ok, my hurdle is this: how do I identify which credit card type is being used as text is entered in the uitextfield? I assume I've to use textField:shouldChangeCharactersInRange:replacementString:?     I'm trying to use the sample code here: I went to "Add Reference" dialog and added "Microsoft Word 12 library", but it doesn't appear in the Solution Explorer. I also added: using Microsoft.Office; I get the following error message when trying to declare a "Word" object. Error 1: The type or namespace name 'Word' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) Any suggestions on how to properly reference the Word library?
