  It was a pleasure seeing old friends and meeting new ones at the LI .Net User Group Meeting on Thursday June 3rd 2010. I was very impressed as more than 35 developers were present which highlights the buzz MVC is creating with its latest release. We covered an introduction to MVC then went on to discuss new features in MVC2. I enjoyed the good dialogue among the group as we discussed how MVC can fit side-by-side with an existing WebForms paradigm and how MVC Support for TDD can dramatically shift Architecture practices as we know them. • Office 365 Powershell - Export user, license type, and company field to csv file

  I need to be able to export user name or email address (doesn't matter which), company (from the company field under the organization tab in a user account of the exchange admin console), and license type (e.g. exchange online e1, exchange online kiosk etc...) I am able to export both values in two statements into two separate files but that doesn't do me much good. I can export the username and license type with the following: Get-MSOLUser | % { $user=$_; $_.Licenses | Select {$user.displayname},AccountSKuid } | Export-CSV "sample.csv" -NoTypeInformation And, I can get the company values with the following: Get-User | select company | Export-CSV sample.csv Someone on another forum suggested this - $index = @{} Get-User | foreach-object {$index.Add($_.userprincipalname,$_.company)} Get-MsolUser | ForEach-Object { write-host $_.userprincipalname, $index[$_.userprincipalname], $_.licenses.AccountSku.Skupartnumber} That seems like it should work but it doesn't display any license info in my powershell, it's just blank. Also I wouldn't know how to export that to a csv file. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

• Anonymous user permission issue in SharePoint Server

  Hello everyone, I am using SharePoint Server 2007 x64 and Windows Server 2008 x64. I have setup a site with template publishing portal. I have grant anonymous access to all the site. My question is, if I create a new page, how to grant permission to anonymous user to access (read permission) the page? I got this confusion because, for the permission setting of a page, a permission is set according to a user name (e.g. read permission for user "foo" of a page). Since anonymous user does not have a related "user name", how could I grant read permission to anonymous user? BTW: I use Windows Forms authentication and Windows NTLM authentication for my sites.   "the user profile service failed the logon" i had gotten this error when trying to login last night. i looked it up online and found that this was caused by an error (that is still unfound, apparently) that is causing windows to mark profiles as backup, and that the best way to fix this error is to do a system restore from the repair your computer special boot option. what i would like to know is if there someone happens to know the cause of this error, as i would not like it to happen again. Computer specifications OS: Windows 7 hard-disk check completely clean "repair startup" scan and fix: clean, no problems virus scans with kaspersky: clean (while not the usual information for specifications, i felt this info was more important for this case, any other information can be asked for.

• User cannot book a room resource in Exchange 2010

  Im having a problem with a specific user not being able to book a room resource. No error message is generated at all. The user attempts to add the room as a meeting resource and it simply doesnt register with the resources calendar. I have tested the resource with other accounts and other rooms for this user but it is only this room that is having issues for this user. This Exchange server was migrated from 2007 to 2010. All rooms except for the problem room were created back on Exchange 2007. This new room was created with Exchange 2010. Maybe this clue has something to do with the problem? • When will UDS sponsorship final list be announced?

  UDS-O is being held at Budapest, Hungary and the sponsorships are open which closes on 28th of March. My question is when will the final list be announced? Will there be more than one month period for people to apply for Visa? e.g. I live in India and when we apply for Schengen Visa for the first time, it takes around 2 weeks for the visa interview(period depends on the rush). Then another week for interview and Visa to be stamped. AFAIK the application, interview and collection has to be done in person. This is all what I have heard. So will Canonical give one month time minimum for people in Eastern part of the world or countries where Schengen countries have tougher rules for visa? It would be great if they could finalize the names a bit faster and announce the list by first week of April. I am hoping Jorge or Jono might come and answer this.

• Finding out what user Apache is running as?

  I want to secure a file upload directory on my server as described beautifully here, but I have one problem before I can follow these instructions. I don't know what user Apache is running as. I've found a suggestion that you can look in httpd.conf and there will be a "User" line, but there is no such line in my httpd.conf file, so I guess Apache is running as the default user. I can't find out what that is, though. So, my question is (are): how do I find out what the default user is do I need to change the default user if the answer is yes and I change the default user by editing httpd.conf, is it likely to screw anything up? • Is Email list "cleaning" a legitimate practice?

  A client has provided us with an excel spreadsheet of around 10,000 email addresses, names and addresses. They were taken from a CRM used previously. I've been asked to "clean" up this database - such as check for invalid addresses - (email format, existing mailboxes etc). I've done a bit of Googling and came up with a few "Email List Cleaning Services". Here is one such company. Now my question is - does anyone have any experience with this kind of service, and is it a legitimate service? Alternatively, what are my options for "cleaning" this list? I ask as MailChimp, our preferred email marketing tool, will terminate account access if a certain percentage of emails bounce, (and I imagine similar e-shot services operate on the same basis), to comply with anti-spam regulations etc. This is a legitimate cause, although it may sound quite the contrary.

  I have a user named 'user' which I use to login to the ftp of my website. However, this presents me with a problem. If I want to allow my user to access to ftp, I have to typ the following: chown -R user:ftpusers /var/www/ By doing this, my website is no longer available when surfing to it. To make it available again, I have to typ the following command: chown -R www-data:www-data /var/www/ the user 'user' is in both the ftpusers and www-data group. How can I fix this so I wouldn't have to typ this anymore? I'm using apache2 and vsftpd on ubuntu

• Pidgin doesn't show buddy list?

  I like to use pidgin instead of Empathy because I'm used to it, and because I have to venture into windows for more development than I would prefer. In Ubuntu 11.10, I can't find any way to get to the buddy list. It opens, and just sits there in the messenger panel tray thing. From its previous behavior, I believe Pidgin usually starts up minimized-- you have to click on its system tray to show the buddy list. The messenger applet does not seem to support this functionality. Is this a bug, or am I just missing something obvious?

• computer and User Account Migrated using ADMT but not sending mail

  I have successfully migrated a User and Computer account using ADMT. The user is able to login to the computer with the new account and is able to open outlook receive mail but is not able to send internal or external mail. The Exchange server is still in the Old domain. The bounce back message received was that the user doesn't have permissions to send to the recipient. When I migrated the user I did migrate the SID history so why is mail not being about to be sent? The body of the bounce back message is as follows: Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients. • Lubuntu Desktop messed up for logged in user, but not for guest

  I recently upgraded my laptop from Lubuntu 12.04 to 14.04.1 and the upgrade process seemed to go fine. However, when I went to login as my normal user, I encountered an issue. The background loaded up, but none of LXDE or LXPanel showed up, leaving me with an empty desktop and nothing else except two errors. I thought that this was weird, so I just figured something had been messed up and would be fixed by a reboot. But it wasn't. I then tried logging in as guest, and it's just fine. I checked the ~/.xsession-errors file (for my main user, not guest, did it via TTY1) and this is what I got: Script for ibus started at run_im. Script for auto started at run_im. Script for default started at run_im. init: Unable to register as subreaper: Invalid argument init: lxsession main process (1649) killed by TERM signal init: Disconnected from notified D-Bus bus init: job dbus failed to stop init: job upstart-dbus-session-bridge failed to stop init: job upstart-dbus-system-bridge failed to stop init: job upstart-file-bridge failed to stop I also read the sometimes removing the ~/.Xauthority file can help, if the ownership is messed up. ls -l /home/MYUSER/.Xauthority tells me -rw------- 1 MYUSER MYUSER 60 Aug 16 09:57 /home/MYUSER/.Xauthority. Should that be root or something else, or should I try deleting that and ~/.profile. Acceptance Criteria: The creation of a person group happens below a person group pool (person group pool is an object also visually available in the current software system) The creation happens with a context menu of the persongroup pool. That means that some pages I want to be only accessible to certain people with the correct username and password. What's the best way to do this? Are there any available scripts out there? • Report Builder 2.0 - Creating DataSet - User Not Authorized

  Hello, we are currently using SQL Server Reporting Services and we would like to use Report Builder so our customers can create reports themselves. I have created a User on the server. I have added this user to the SQLServerMSSQLUser and SQLServerReportServerUser groups. I have given this User db_datareader access to the required database and to the Reporting Services database. I've also tried giving the User db_owner access to the Reporting Services db's. And on the Report Manager, this User is a System_User, but has all access (every checkbox is checked). When I connect using Report Builder, I can select the Report Model to create a DataSource, but when I try to create a DataSet, I get the following error: An error occurred while connection to datasource 'DataSource1'. The details are: 'User Not Authorized'. Does anyone know what server permissions I forgot to set? I'm assuming it's a Windows permissions issue because I do not see any database login errors in the event logs.

  Hi, i am currently playing around with suexec, suphp, php5 on my apache on slackware 13.1. Everything is installed and working properly but now i did like to got further into the directory permissions and at suphp settings and options available. initially i was planning to leave suphp disabled unless a virtualhost has it specified to be enabled but it does not seem to work, see sample: mod_php.conf which is included in my httpd.conf # # mod_php & mod_suPHP - PHP Hypertext Preprocessor module # # Load the PHP module: LoadModule php5_module lib/httpd/modules/libphp5.so # Load the suPHP module: LoadModule suphp_module lib/httpd/modules/mod_suphp.so <IfModule mod_php5.c> # Tell Apache to feed all *.php files through PHP. • chrooting user causes "connection closed" message when using sftp

  First off I am a linux newbie so please don't assume much knowledge. I am using CentOS 5.8 (final) and using OpenSSH version 5.8p1. I have made a user playwithbits and I am attempting to chroot them to the directory home/nginx/domains/playwithbits/public I am using the following match statement in my sshd_config file: Match group web-root-locked ChrootDirectory /home/nginx/domains/%u/public X11Forwarding no AllowTcpForwarding no ForceCommand /usr/libexec/openssh/sftp-server # id playwithbits returns: uid=504(playwithbits) gid=504(playwithbits) groups=504(playwithbits),507(web-root-locked) I have changed the user's home directory to: home/nginx/domains/playwithbits/public Now when I attempt to sftp in with this user I instantly get the message: connection closed Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Edit: Following advice from @Dennis Williamson I have connected in debug mode (I think... correct me if I'm wrong). I have made a bit of progress by using chmod to set permissions recursively of all files in the directly to 700.
