  Hey there, I am using emacs 23.2 with the GTK toolkit. • Spring's EntityManager not persisting

  Well, my project was using EJB and JPA (with Hibernate), but I had to switch to Spring. Everything was working well before that. The EJB used to inject the EntityManager, controled the transaction, etc. Ok, when I switched to Spring, I had a lot of problems because I'm new on Spring. But after everything is running, I have the problem: the data is never saved on database. I configured my Spring to control the transactions, I have spring beans used in JSF, that has spring services that do the hard work. This services have a EntityManager injected and use @Transactional REQUIRED. This services pass the EntityManager to a DAO that call entityManager.persist(bean). The selects appears to work well, the JTA transaction appears to work well to (I saw in log), but the entity is not saved!   The framework I am developing for my application relies very heavily on dynamically generated domain objects. I recently started using Spring WebFlow and now need to be able to serialize my domain objects that will be kept in flow scope. I have done a bit of research and figured out that I can use writeReplace() and readResolve(). The only catch is that I need to look-up a factory in the Spring context. I tried to use @Configurable(preConstruction = true) in conjunction with the BeanFactoryAware marker interface. But beanFactory is always null when I try to use it in my createEntity() method. Neither the default constructor nor the setBeanFactory() injector are called. Has anybody tried this or something similar? I have included relevant class below.   Recently i made two template classes,according to the book "Modern C++ design". I think these classes are useful but no one in my company agree with me,so could any one tell me if these things are useful? The first one is a parameter wrapper,it can package function paramters to a single dynamic object.It looks like TypeList in "Modern C++ design". You can use it like this: some place of your code: int i = 7; bool b = true; double d = 3.3; CParam *p1 = CreateParam(b,i); CParam *p2 = CreateParam(i,b,d); other place of your code: int i = 0; bool b = false; double d = 0.0; GetParam(p1,b,i); GetParam(p2,i,b,d); The second one is a generic callback wrapper,it has some special point compare to other wrappers: 1.This template class has a dynamic base class,which let you use a single type object represent all wrapper objects. 2.It can wrap the callback together with it's parameters,you can excute the callback sometimes later with the parameters. • MVC 3 ModelView passing parameters between view & controller

  I've been playing with MVC 3 in a test project and have the following issue. I have Group & Subscriber entities and those are coupled through a SubscriberGroup table. Using the DetailView of Group I open a view of SubscriberGroup containing all subscribers. This list has the option to filter. So far it all works, however when I call the AddToGroup method on the controller it fails. Specifically it goes into the method but doesn't pass the subscriberCheckedModels list. Am I doing something wrong? • Need help with copy constructor for very basic implementation of singly linked lists

  Last week, we created a program that manages sets of strings, using classes and vectors. I was able to complete this 100%. This week, we have to replace the vector we used to store strings in our class with simple singly linked lists. The function basically allows users to declare sets of strings that are empty, and sets with only one element. In the main file, there is a vector whose elements are a struct that contain setName and strSet (class). HERE IS MY PROBLEM: It deals with the copy constructor of the class. When I remove/comment out the copy constructor, I can declare as many empty or single sets as I want, and output their values without a problem. But I know I will obviously need the copy constructor for when I implement the rest of the program. When I leave the copy constructor in, I can declare one set, either single or empty, and output its value. But if I declare a 2nd set, and i try to output either of the first two sets, i get a Segmentation Fault. Moreover, if i try to declare more then 2 sets, I get a Segmentation Fault. Any help would be appreciated!! Any ideas why? I've tried upping the object graph and the message size. When I debug it stops in the wrapper class with the 400 error. I'm not sure if there is a serialization error, but considering the object contract is 4 integer properties I can't imagine it causing an issue.

• MVVM/Presentation Model With WinForms

  Hi, I'm currently working on a brownfield application, it's written with winforms, as a preparation to use WPF in a later version, out team plans to at least use the MVVM/Presentation model, and bind it against winforms... I've explored the subject, including the posts in this site (which i love very much), when boiled down, the main advantage of wpf are : binding controls to properties in xaml. binding commands to command objects in the viewmodel. the first feature is easy to implement (in code), or with a generic control binder, which binds all the controls in the form. the second feature is a little harder to implement, but if you inherit from all your controls and add a command property (which is triggered by an internal event such as click), which is binded to a command instance in the ViewModel. The challenges I'm currently aware of are : implementing a commandmanager, (which will trigger the CanInvoke method of the commands as necessery. winforms only supports one level of databinding : datasource, datamember, wpf is much more flexible. am i missing any other major features that winforms lacks in comparison with wpf, when attempting to implement this design pattern? i sure many of you will recommend some sort of MVP pattern, but MVVM/Presentation model is the way to go for me, because I'll want future WPF support.   Given this simple class: class HasBytes { public byte[] Bytes { get; set; } } I can round-trip it through JSON using JSON.NET such that the byte array is base-64 encoded: var bytes = new HasBytes { Bytes = new byte[] { 1, 2, 3, 4 } }; // turn it into a JSON string var json = JsonConvert.SerializeObject(bytes); // get back a new instance of HasBytes var result1 = JsonConvert.DeserializeObject<HasBytes>(json); // all is well Debug.Assert(bytes.Bytes.SequenceEqual(result1.Bytes)); But if I deserialize this-a-wise: var result2 = (HasBytes)new JsonSerializer().Deserialize( new JTokenReader( JToken.ReadFrom(new JsonTextReader( new StringReader(json)))), typeof(HasBytes)); ... it throws an exception, "Expected bytes but got string". What other options/flags/whatever would need to be added to the "complicated" version to make it properly decode the base-64 string to initialize the byte array? Obviously I'd prefer to use the simple version but I'm trying to work with a CouchDB wrapper library called Divan, which sadly uses the complicated version, with the responsibilities for tokenizing/deserializing widely separated, and I want to make the simplest possible patch to how it currently works.

• Socket.ReceiveAsync problem

  Hi, I have a problem using SocketAsyncEventArgs model with .net sockets. Everything works great until the moment that the server wishes to close a client connection. I use following code for this: try { socket.Shutdown(SocketShutdown.Both); } catch { } // throws if client process has already closed finally { socket.Close(); } socket = null; Each connection is using two SocketAsyncEventArgs (one for send and one for receive) and after closing the connection they are returned to a pool from which they can be later reused. And here the problem starts, because when another connection is established and receive args are reused from the pool we get an exception: System.InvalidOperationException: "An asynchronous socket operation is already in progress using this SocketAsyncEventArgs instance."; at System.Net.Sockets.SocketAsyncEventArgs.StartOperationCommon(Socket socket) at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.ReceiveAsync(SocketAsyncEventArgs e) I've done some debugging and it appears that the connection closing code from the beginning of the question does not cancel Socket.ReceiveAsync operation that is in progress when the connection is closed. I've tried many combinations of Shutdown, Disconnect and Linger options for the socket but nothing worked. Any suggestions? Thanks

  I have a .NET application that I want to use as a client to call an SSL SOAP web service. I have been supplied with a valid client certificate called foo.pfx. There is a password on the certificate itself. I've located the certificate at the following location: C:\certs\foo.pfx To call the web service, I need to attach the client certificate. Here's the code: public X509Certificate GetCertificateFromDisk(){ try{ string certPath = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["MyCertPath"].ToString(); //this evaluates to "c:\\certs\\foo.pfx". So far so good. X509Certificate myCert = X509Certificate.CreateFromCertFile(certPath); // exception is raised here! "The specified network password is not correct" return cert; } catch (Exception ex){ throw; } } It sounds like the exception is around the .NET application trying to read the disk. The method CreateFromCertFile is a static method that should create a new instance of X509Certificate. The method isn't overridden, and has only one argument: the path. When I inspect the Exception, I find this: _COMPlusExceptionCode = -532459699 Source=mscorlib Question: does anyone know what the cause of the exception "The specified network password is not correct" ?

  I am writing a small application that does a lot of feed processing. I want to use LINQ EF for this as speed is not an issue, it is a single user app and, in the end, will only be used once a month. My questions revolves around the best way to do bulk inserts using LINQ EF. After parsing the incoming data stream I end up with a List of values. Since the end user may end up trying to import some duplicate data I would like to "clean" the data during insert rather than reading all the records, doing a for loop, rejecting records, then finally importing the remainder. • Unable to debug simple Java application in Eclipse. Cannot connect to VM. AGENT_ERROR_TRANSPORT_INIT(197)

  When i try to debug a simple application in Eclipse i receive a following error: Cannot connect to VM com.sun.jdi.connect.TransportTimeoutException And console provides me with a lonely string: FATAL ERROR in native method: JDWP No transports initialized, jvmtiError=AGENT_ERROR_TRANSPORT_INIT(197) I have JRE 1.6, JRE 1.7 and JDK 1.7 installed. Tried all of them. I've seen tons of same topics, but not a single answer helped me to solve my issue. Here they are: 1) Disable Firewall. Doesn't help. I have latest Avast ver. 9.0 at the moment. I'm a bit suspicious about that software, because before updating my Avast i was able to debug in Eclipse. I think it may cause this error, but i do not have direct clues :). I may ping my machine, firewall doesn't block Eclipse traffic, etc. 2) Add strings to hosts file. No reaction. ::1 localhost.localdomain localhost 127.0.0.1 localhost 3) Changing Network Settings in Java Control Panel to "Direct" connection. Doubtful advice. Also read that thing: http://wiki.eclipse.org/Debug/FAQ Can anyone help me to find out what is happening? Or guide me in the right direction?
