  Hi, I'm currently using ANT for building my Java project on a Windows XP machine. In my build.xml file I've defined 3 task and I would like that,in case of fail,a default task be executed before closing the building and exiting (like a recovery procedure).   What characters are allowed in linux environment variable names? My cursory search of man pages and the web did only produce information about how to work with variables, but not which names are allowed. I have a Java program that requires an defined environment variable containing a dot, like com.example.fancyproperty. With Windows I can set that variable, but I had no luck setting it in linux (tried in SuSE and Ubuntu). Is that variable name even allowed?

• undefined method `bytes' for for String in Ruby

  I am working with ruby 1.8.6 (2007-03-13 patchlevel 0) [x86_64-linux] and I get undefined method `bytes' for #<String:0x2a95ec2268> (NoMethodError) even though my code works on ruby 1.8.7. patchlevel 249 I saw somewhere that you need to add require "jcode" for a similar method not defined error with each_byte. I tried adding that but it still does not work. Any suggestions are very appreciated.

• My PHP script for sending emails wont send

  Well I'm working on a school project, and I uploaded my script to send emails. I'm pretty much using whats defined here: http://www.webcheatsheet.com/PHP/send_email_text_html_attachment.php . Now, all I really changed(other than the contents), is the receiver, to my email address. However, I'm not getting it in my inbox. Is there something else I need? Do I need to do something with the settings on the server(or have my school enable something)?

  I have a view that I'm trying to setup an Index for. One of the select columns for the view executes a user-defined function that has a return value of varchar(250). However, when I try to setup an Index on that column, I see a size of nvarchar(4000). Why is that and will that cause a problem if I continue to setup my index?

  Is there a way to "declare" a variable with a particular user-defined type in MATLAB? zeros() only works for built-in numeric types. The only solution I've come up with involves using repmat() to duplicate a dummy object zero times: arr = repmat(myClass(), [1 0]) Without declaring variables this way, any code which does "arr(end+1) = myClass()" has to include a special case for the default empty matrix which is of type double. Have I missed something a little more sensible?

  Hi, I'd like to know how people decide whether to define a method as static. I'm aware that a method can only be defined as static if it doesn't require access to instance fields. So lets say we have a method that does not access instance fields, do you always define such a method as static, or only if you need to call it statically (without a reference to an instance). I read that the field should be ntext. I will now have to a conversion to my table to create the column as ntext. Would I have to do anything with the collation of the database which is set to Latin? • clicking title bar fires onBlur in Opera

  Hi, I am closing a popup window at 'onBlur' defined for 'BODY' of an ASP webpage, so when a user clicks outside the popup the popup closes. I want the popup to be moveable around the screen and it works for all browsers but Opera. In Opera the 'onBlur' event is fired when clicking the titlebar of the popup - this seems weird for me, as the titlebar is a part of the popup window, right? What can I do about it?

  i want to make a button disabled if a datagrid is empty and it should be enabled when there is atleast 1 entry.the entries in the grid are made at runtime.I tried this this is the button: <mx:Button id="update" label="Update Contact" enabled="{isButtonEnabled()}"/> and the function is defined as where dg_contact is the datagrid: public function isButtonEnabled():Boolean { if(dg_contact.selectedIndex==-1) { return false; } else { return true; } } where am i going wrong?
