  • VLC or ffserver for http streaming

    Hi, I don't like asking "OR" questions, but I can't find any comparison on the Internet. I need live http streaming using h264 in flv container. I managed to achieve this with VLC, but with big latency. I have some problems with ffmpeg and I can not make it to work, but I wonder if would it works better then VLC?

    My service for World Wide Web Publishing Service started successfully but whenever I browse to http://localhost/ I always get 502 Unknown host. I want a Windows PC to refer to a local file (I can serve it from a web server at localhost if needed) when it attempts to fetch a certain remote file via HTTP. However, I need other files from that particular remote web server to be fetched as usual. Any help appreciated.

    I'm testing out a piece of code to ping a bunch of websites I own on a regular basis, to make sure they're up. I'm using rails and so far I have this hideous test action that I'm using to try it out (see below). The problem though, is that sometimes it works, and other times it won't ... sometimes it runs through the code just fine, other times, it seems to completely ignore the begin/rescue block ... a. I need help figuring out what the problem is b. And refactoring this to make it look respectable.   • How can I enable IIS to run Perl scripts?

    we're trying to get awstats up and running on our IIS6 server. awstats is running fine and generating output and all that jazz... no problem there. When trying to change the selected month/year in the output page though, it is trying to run awstats.pl through IIS, and coming up with a 404 error. To debug I made a simple hello.pl in my root, and tried to run that, also 404s. I followed the directions on this page http://support.microsoft.com/kb/245225 regarding installing ActiveState Perl and then configuring IIS. I added the extension mapping on my directory and registered the web services extension as directed. The perl scripts all run fine and output if run from the command line, so I know perl is good, but I can't get IIS to find the files. Here is the configuration on my the home directory tab of my site: Here is the configuration of my web service extension: I turned on directory browsing for this site, and when i get the listing of the directory, IIS actually does show the .pl files being in the directory. But if I click on one of them, I get the 404 error. 12/17 15:22 Also tried adding .pl as a mime-type on my site's configuration. This did not help. 12/17 16:57 Also tried Everyone Read/Execute permissions on both the Perl direcory and the directory housing awstats. This did not help.

  • xampp apache on windows 7 returns http header only

    i am having issues with xampp running on windows 7 RC32 i type in a localhost and get a header back only, no page content somedays it works fine, other days i can't get it to work after multiple attempts, reboot or otherwise the request doesn't even get put into the acccess log which seems unusual here is the log file at startup incase that helps any ideas ??   • HTTP 500 Internal Server Error on IIS 7.5 with MVC3

    I am trying to install an MVC3 application on our production server with no luck. The application is from a 3rd party (compiled), and so debugging is not available to me. Besides, I strongly suspect the error occurs before any code in the site has a chance to execute. Our staging server is - as far as I can determine - set up excactly like the production server. Both run Windows Server 2008 Standard R2, both also run a Sharepoint 2010 site (though this install doesn't touch that in any way). IIS is version 7.5, and .NET Framework 4.0 (required by the MVC app) is (recently) installed (by me, with a reboot after). The application is very small and simple and, as far as I can tell sticks to fairly standard functionality - including forms authentication (ie. it doesnt' pull any dirty tricks). The error message shown in the browser is very general: HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error An error message detailing the cause of this specific request failure can be found in the application event log of the web server. Please review this log entry to discover what caused this error to occur. The bit about 'An error message detailing the cause' being in the application event log seems to be just speculation - a pious hope that whatever code actually caused the error will log it. Nothing useful is to be found in the event log (only the very same message, logged by IIS). (0x80070002) So there you have it. Seemingly, the AspNetInitClrHostFailureModule fails to find some file. So some questions are: What is the AspNetInitClrHostFailureModule? It is not listed in the fairly exhausting list of modules configurable in IIS manager for the site. I have had no success googling it either. Maybe it's secret.. I access the root URL of the site. This is supposed to be redirected to /Account/LogOn by the FormsAuthenticationModule. Why then is the handler StaticFile? Is that a clue? I have tried removing the infamous system.webserver/modules/runAllManagedModulesForAllRequests attribute, and that makes the error go away (but MVC not actually working, of course). I am prepared to specify all necessary modules manually if that's what it takes, but if the AspNetInitClrHostFailureModule is actually needed, I will be just as stuck. Does anyone know, or can anyone direct me to someone who knows, exactly what modules a typical MVC3 application actually needs? This question might well be a duplicate of this one, but he didn't get any useful answer, and also asked less specific questions. So I'll have my own go. Hoping for some help here :) Edit: I have now tried setting up a trivial MVC 3 project on the server. I created a new project using the MVC Application template, compiled it and deployed it to the server. It behaves in exactly the same way. The server simply cannot run MVC 3 projects.

    I'm building a web server to host multiple websites. I got everything working except the mail server. I'm using linode to host my vps and I've been following their tutorials. FYI, I'm using Ubuntu 11.10. Here is the link I've been following, http://library.linode.com/email/postfix/dovecot-mysql-ubuntu-10.04-lucid. I got up to the part where it tells me to restart dovecot, so I tried "service dovecot restart". But then I get this "restart: Unknown instance:". I'm logged in as root, so I'm not using sudo. Since that didn't work I tried "/etc/init.d/dovecot restart" and I get "dovecot start/running, process 4760". So I try "/etc/init.d/dovecot status" and I get "dovecot stop/waiting". So I tried "service dovecot start" and I get "dovecot start/running, process 4781". So I tried to get the status, so I tired "service dovecot status" and got "dovecot stop/waiting" Then I tired "/etc/init.d/dovecot start" and I get "dovecot start/running, process 4794".   • Does Apache ever give incorrect "out of threads" errors?

    Lately our Apache web server has been giving us this error multiple times per day: [Tue Apr 06 01:07:10 2010] [error] Server ran out of threads to serve requests. Consider raising the ThreadsPerChild setting We raised our ThreadsPerChild setting from 50 to 100, but we still get the error. Our access logs indicate that these errors never even happen at periods of high load. For example, here's an excerpt from our access log (ip addresses and some urls are edited for privacy). Since the Apache server runs as a separate process and the database doesn't record any problems when this error occurs, I'm doubtful that Oracle is the problem. Unfortunately, the errors are freaking out our sysadmins, who are inclined to blame any and all problems which occur with the server on this error. Is this a known bug in Apache that I simply haven't been able to find any reference to through Google?
