  • [Java] Cut <br/>-Tags from String end

    - by Robert M.
Hello everybody, I am currently developing a Web-Application using Java EE where I'm using a Rich-Javascript-Editor (http://www.primefaces.org/showcase/ui/editor.jsf). As the user can easily add too many linebreaks that will be convertet to linebreak-tags, I need to remove all these Tags from the end of a String. Is there an elegant way of using Regex to accomplish this? An example String would be: "This is a test <b>bold</b><br/><br/>" Where obviously the last two tags have to be removed. Thank you in advance for any help Best Regards, Robert

  • Page-specific logic in Joomla

    - by Casebash
I am trying to enable JavaScript in a Joomla template to behave differently depending on the page. In particular, I have set the Key Reference as that appears to be the most appropriate value I could find for this purpose. Unfortunately, I can't seem to access it in my code. I tried: $this->params->get("keyref") and a few other variations, but they simply returned a blank. How can I retrieve this value or is there a better way of writing page specific logic. Related Articles Joomla load script in a specific page: This would work, but seems like overkill for what I want to do here.

  • How to get user input for 2 digit data

    - by oneMinute
In a HTML form user is expect to fill / select some data and trigger an action probably a http-post. If your only requested data field is a "2 digit" you can use html text input element get some data. Then you want to make it useful; enable user easily select data from a 'html select' But not all of your data is well-ordered so eye-searching within these data is somehow cumbersome. Because your data is meaningful with its relations. If there is no primary key for foreign key "12" it should not be shown. Vice versa if this foreign key occurs a lot, then it has some weight and could be displayed with more importance. So, what will be your way? a) Use text input to get data and validate it with regex, javascript, ... b) Use some dropdown select. c) Any other way ? Any answer will appreciated :)

  • Creating OpenSocial container for ASP.NET Site

    - by Admin
hello, i run a social networking site written in asp.net and would like to open it to developers using the OpenSocial APIs. I have read information on opensocial.org as well as google's opensocial page and have a basic idea what it takes but still there is a lot of info missing to even get started. I know i gotta provide RESTful API as well as JavaScript API, authenticating using OAuth methods. Does my container has to provide all 3: JSON, XML, and AtomPub representations of data? I found Shindig but it runs under Apache, i need something for IIS. Are there any libraries that i could use as a base for my APIs to save time? Is it even recommended to write the entire container from scratch? thanks

  • Duplicate an element on button-push with jQuery

    - by paracaudex
I'm new to jQuery, and I'm trying to cause another identical dropdown menu to appear each time the user presses a button. I thought this would work, where #append is the button id and #foo is the dropdown id: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $("#append").click(function(){ $("#foo").append($("#foo")); }); }); </script> However, rather than duplicating the original dropdown, it causes it to disappear! What am I doing wrong?

  • How do I learn Flash Game Development?

    - by grokker
I'm currently a PHP programmer and one of my childhood dreams is to create a game. The problem is I don't know Flash. I'm not great at drawing stuff or even artistic. I could program a little with JavaScript and I could consider myself intermediate with JQuery. Question How do I get started with Flash Game development? What books do I read first? The type of game is a side scroller about an Indiana Jones type of character and the setting is on the jungle with trees and snakes and a lot of animals.

  • Anyone have a good solution for scraping the HTML source of a page with content (in this case, HTML

    - by phpwns
Anyone have a good solution for scraping the HTML source of a page with content (in this case, HTML tables) generated with Javascript? An embarrassingly simple, though workable solution using Crowbar: <?php function get_html($url) // $url must be urlencode(d) { $context = stream_context_create(array( 'http' => array('timeout' => 120) // HTTP timeout in seconds )); $html = substr(file_get_contents('http://127.0.0.1:10000/?url=' . $url . '&delay=3000&view=browser', 0, $context), 730, -32); // substr removes HTML from the Crowbar web service, returning only the $url HTML return $html; } ?> The advantage to using Crowbar is that the tables will be rendered (and accessible) thanks to the headless mozilla-based browser. The problem, of course, is being dependent on on an external web service, especially given that SIMILE seems to undergo regular server maintenance. :( A pure php solution would be nice, but any functional (and reliable) alternatives would be great.

  • Problem getting value from "Checkbox group value prompt"

    - by Veer
Hi, I've value prompt with ui:checkbox group parameter: p_IsLastMonth Name: Prompt_IsLastMonth ItemCount: 1; UseValue:Yes, DisplayValue: LastMonth? and two Date Prompts. Whenever the checkbox is checked, the UseValue 'Yes' is passed to the parameter 'p_IsLastMonth'. But whenever the checkbox is left as it is, it results in an error. Element 'selectOptions' is not valid for content model: 'All(style, defaultSelections, conditionalStyles, conditionalRender,XMLAttributes)' I also tried giving a default value. But the default value has to be in the collection. But i want only one checkbox to be displayed. I tried with html checkbox. But i'm not able to send the value 'either yes or no' to the parameter through javascript because however the finish button overrides the value. Any help?

Why cant I grab information from an external url? <script language="javascript"> // This script uses jQuery to retrieve the news XML file and display the contents $(document).ready(function(){ $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "www.simplyprofound.com/samples/xml_jquery/sample.xml", dataType: "xml", success: function(xml) { $(xml).find('item').each(function(){ var title = $(this).find('title').text(); var source = $(this).find('source').text(); var description = $(this).find('description').text(); $('<div class="news_title"></div>').html(title).appendTo('#news_wrap'); $('<div class="news_source"></div>').html(source).appendTo('#news_wrap'); $('<div class="news_description"></div>').html(description).appendTo('#news_wrap'); }); } }); }); </script>

  • php session not working (as with cookies disabled), but cookies are enabled for the domain. What oth

    - by SWilk
Hi, I have a problem with a client, who cannot log in to our system. We have PHP-based B2B system, which uses cookies to store session-id. The client cannot log in and is redirected to the login page, without any error message. He claims he have cookies enabled in his Firefox. Also, if he had cookies disabled, my javascript would detect this and would show him an red, very descriptive error info. He does not seen anything like this. What else could have same effect on sessions like disabled cookies in browser? Are there any proxies which filters cookies? Any AV software, etc? What to look for? Our login form works for any other user without problems.

  • XML jQuery Problem

    - by Llamabomber
This code for parsing my xml and appending via jquery seems to work great in every browser but Chrome (Mac only, the windows version of chrome works fine) and explorer. I'm not aware of any glaring issues in the code so I thought some fresh eyes might help. Anyone know what could be causing IE and Chrome on the mac to not append? <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"> $(document).ready(function() { $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "sitenav.xml", dataType: "xml", success: parseXml }); function parseXml(xml) { $(xml).find("GoogleAnalytics").each(function() { $("li#google_analytics").append('<ul><li>' + $(this).find("NavHeader").text() + '</li></ul>'); }); } }); </script>

  • Selenium not finding LiveValidation text.

    - by McNabbToSkins
I am using the Selenium IDE to test some of my web development. I am using the JQuery LiveValidation in my code. I have an input box with some javascript behind it that will do a regular expresson and either ouput "OK" or "Error" next to the input text box based on what the user has entered. For some reason when testing with selenium the LiveValidation will not get triggered no matter what I do and therefore I can not test it. When I do it manually it works great. Has anyone run into this problem before? Any help would be appreciated.

  • How do I get the border-radius from an element using jQuery?

    - by S Pangborn
    I've got a div, with the following HTML and CSS. In an attempt to make my Javascript code more robust, I'm attempting to retrieve certain CSS attributes from the selected element. I know how to use the .css() getter to get elements, but how to get the border-radius using that method? jQuery's documentation is sparse. HTML: <div id="#somediv"></div> CSS: #somediv { -moz-border-radius: 5px; -webkit-border-radius: 5px; }

  • ASP.NET single quotes are converted to &#39;

    - by Monty
Note: Most probably this will be a double question, but since I haven't found a clear answer, I'm asking it anyway. In ASP.NET I'd like to add some JavaScript to the onclick event of a CheckBox. I've simplified the case to this: <asp:CheckBox ID="TestCheckBox" runat="server" onclick="alert('test');" Text="Test" /> The resulting HTML is as follows: <input id="MainContainer_TestCheckBox" type="checkbox" name="ctl00$MainContainer$TestCheckBox" onclick="alert(&#39;test&#39;);" /><label for="MainContainer_TestCheckBox">Test</label> What particularly bothers me is that a single quote 'automatically' gets converted into '&#39;'. If I omit the onclick in the markup and assign it in Page_Load, the exact same results show in the HTML. protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { this.TestCheckBox.Attributes["onclick"] = "alert('test');"; } Anyone got a clue about what's happening? Or how to fix/ avoid it?

  • PHP tag cloud ( and finding similar ones )

    - by mfolnovich
Hello! I have articles on my site, and I would like to add tags which would describe each article, but I'm having problems with design mysql table for tags. I have two ideas: 1) each article would have field "tags", and tags would be in format: "tag1,tag2,tag3" 2) create other table called tags with fields: tag_name, article_id, so when I want tags for article with ID 1, I would run SELECT ... FROM tags WHERE news_id=1; But, I would also like to know 3 similar articles by comparing tags, so if I have article which has tags "php, mysql, erlang", and 5 articles with tags: "php, mysql", "erlang, ruby", "php erlang", "mysql, erlang, javascript", I would choose 1., 3. and 4., since those 3 have most same tags with main article. Thanks!

  • CLI design and implementation?

    - by Majid
I am developing a time management tool for my personal use. I prefer using keyboard over mouse, and on the interface have a general purpose text box which will act like a command line. I have just started thinking about what commands I need, what to use for the command names, how to pass in switches and parameters, and so forth. I wonder if some of you have come across a good read along these lines; something that describes the choices you have for designing a cli, and how those affect the complexity of the interpreter, and extendability of the commands. It makes no difference if the descriptions are language-specific or in general terms. However, my implementation will be with javascript. Thank you.

  • Is there a way to add an MP3 player to my website so that iPhone & iPad users can use it.

    - by codingguy3000
I have a website www.askvioletnow.com. I added a flash mp3 player that plays a sound clip when you go to the page. I know Flash doesn't work on the iPhone OS, but is there a way to get this type of mp3 player to work on an iPhone? I'm thinking maybe a javascript mp3 player. What I would ultimately want is to replace my flash mp3 player with a different mp3 player and have it so the player is available on Windows and Mac computers as well as iPhone devices. Thanks in advance.

  • caching in memory on server

    - by zaharpopov
I want to write web app with client Javascript and back-end server (Python). Client needs data from server frequently in AJAX way. Data in DB, and expensive to load for each request. However, in desktop app I would just load data from DB once to memory and then access it. In web app - the server code runs each time for request so I can't do it (each run has to load from DB to memory again). How can this work? Can a single process run on server or do I have to use something different here? An example is like auto-complete here on stackoverflow for tags - how is it implemented in the server for fast caching/loading?

  • JSONP Implications with true REST

    - by REA_ANDREW
From my understanding JSONP can only be achieved using the GET verb. Assuming this is true which I think it is, then this rules out core compliance with true REST in which you should make use of different verbs i.e. GET,PUT,POST,DELETE etc... for different and specific purposes. My question is what type of barriers am I likely to come up against if I where to say allow updating and deleting of resources using a JSONP service using a get request. Is it better practice to offer a JSON service and state that the user will need a server side proxy to consume using JavaScript XDomain? Cheers , Andrew

  • Is it OK to mixed NumberLong and normal integers in the same field in MongoDB?

    - by Nicholas Tolley Cottrell
I have been using Morphia to persistent objects from Java. I have also been running some batch processes from the console. I just realised that some values are now stored as NumberLong and number as plain Javascript numbers. I have an index on this field. Everything seems to be ok, but if I query: {f: 100} from the console it still returns the object even if it actually contains {f: NumberLong(100)} Is this true of all the drivers? It is best practice to avoid NumberLong is I can fit the value inside 32-bit? Will I save a lot of data and index space if I convert all NumberLongs to basic numbers?

  • Html encoding in MVC input

    - by fearofawhackplanet
I'm working through NerdDinner and I'm a bit confused about the following section... First they've added a form for creating a new dinner, with a bunch of textboxes delcared like: <%= Html.TextArea("Description") %> They then show two ways of binding form input to the model: [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] public ActionResult Create() { Dinner dinner = new Dinner(); UpdateModel(dinner); ... } or: [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] public ActionResult Create(Dinner dinner) { ... } Ok, great, that all looks really easy so far. Then a bit later on they say: It is important to always be paranoid about security when accepting any user input, and this is also true when binding objects to form input. You should be careful to always HTML encode any user-entered values to avoid HTML and JavaScript injection attacks Huh? MVC is managing the data binding for us. Where/how are you supposed to do the HTML encoding?
