  • A php namespace called default

    - by michael
<?php namespace default gives me an unexpecected T_DEFAULT, is there any way of working around this? Can I escape the reserved word somehow? My system uses the name of the current module in my site for the namespace so it would be nice to be able to use any string as a namespace.

  • Learning C++ on Linux or Windows?

    - by ReDAeR
Hi, Since you 'should' learn C/C++ and as part of 'learn as much languages as possible', i decided to learn C++ in depth. My OS is Windows and my question is should i re-install Linux as a dual boot to learn C++ on Linux? Do i miss something if I develop in C++ only on the Windows platform? (possible duplicate: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1128050/best-operating-system-for-c-development-and-learning)

  • How to detect GUI thread on Android?

    - by ParDroid
Is there a robust way to detect if Thread.currentThread() is the Android system GUI-thread in an application? I would like to put some asserts in my model code that asserts that only one thread (eg the gui-thread) accesses my state, to assure that no kind of synchronization is neccesary.

    - by Chris
Hi Guys, I'm building a part of a system where the user can define "views" from a mysql database. I want some way of generating simple HTML tables/reports from the data, but not just plain output of sql queries- simple joins probably isn't enough. Any ideas?

The problem is windows gives an offset based on EST while javascript gives an offset based on EDT. There is an hour difference between these two. Does anyone know how to make Javascript use the Standard Times like Windows? Thank you.

  • How can I limit the number of registrants to an event?

    - by user356900
I've set up a basic html/php submission form where people can register for our event, but need a way to replace the submission form webpage with one that reads something like "We have reached our registration limit" when we reach a certain number of submitted forms. Our database is MySQL (if that makes a difference) I've looked around on the web but people either say to count the entries by hand, or the ones that do have an automated system use CMS like drupal or joomla. Is it possible to setup an automated script that will do this?

  • Order results by another table?

    - by user3462020
I'm working on a custom forum system and I'm trying to figure out how to put a thread on the top of the list if a user posts in it. I've got this for my query SELECT user_threads.threadID, user_threads.title, user_threads.uid, user_threads.postDate, thread_messages.posted FROM user_threads, thread_messages WHERE parent = :parent GROUP BY user_threads.title ORDER BY thread_messages.posted DESC Which doesn't appear to be working. if I post in a new thread, it remains where it is on the list.
