  • NHibernate: What are child sessions and why and when should I use them?

    - by stefando
In the comments for the ayende's blog about the auditing in NHibernate there is a mention about the need to use a child session:session.GetSession(EntityMode.Poco). As far as I understand it, it has something to do with the order of the SQL operation which session.Flush will emit. (For example: If I wanted to perform some delete operation in the pre-insert event but the session was already done with deleting operations, I would need some way to inject them in.) However I did not find documentation about this feature and behavior. Questions: Is my understanding of child sessions correct? How and in which scenarios should I use them? Are they documented somewhere? Could they be used for session "scoping"? (For example: I open the master session which will hold some data and then I create 2 child-sessions from the master one. I'd expect that the two child-scopes will be separated but the will share objects from the master session cache. Is this the case?) Are they first class citizens in NHibernate or are they just hack to support some edge-case scenarios? Thanks in advance for any info.

  • Android - Memory leak when dynamically building UI with image resource backgrounds

    - by Rich
    I have an Activity that I swear is leaking memory. The app I'm working on does a lot with images, so I've had to be pretty stingy with memory when working directly with Bitmaps. I added an Activity, and now if you use this new Activity it basically puts me over the edge with mem usage and I end up throwing the "Bitmap exceeds VM budget" exception. If you never launch this Activity, everything is smooth as it was previously. I started reading about memory leaks, and I think that I have a similar situation to what is described in the article in the Android docs. I'm dynamically creating a bunch of image views and adding a BackgroundDrawable from the resources and adding an OnClickListener as well. I imagine I have to do some cleanup when the Activity hits onPause in its life cycle, but I'd like to know specifically what is the correct way. Here is the code that should demonstrate the objects I'm working with... LinearLayout templateContainer; . . . ImageView imgTemplatePreview = (ImageView) item.findViewById(R.id.imgTemplatePreview); . . . imgTemplatePreview.setBackgroundDrawable(getResources().getDrawable(previewId)); imgTemplatePreview.setOnClickListener(imgClick); templateContainer.addView(item);

  • Rails nested attributes with a join model, where one of the models being joined is a new record

    - by gzuki
I'm trying to build a grid, in rails, for entering data. It has rows and columns, and rows and columns are joined by cells. In my view, I need for the grid to be able to handle having 'new' rows and columns on the edge, so that if you type in them and then submit, they are automatically generated, and their shared cells are connected to them correctly. I want to be able to do this without JS. Rails nested attributes fail to handle being mapped to both a new record and a new column, they can only do one or the other. The reason is that they are a nested specifically in one of the two models, and whichever one they aren't nested in will have no id (since it doesn't exist yet), and when pushed through accepts_nested_attributes_for on the top level Grid model, they will only be bound to the new object created for whatever they were nested in. How can I handle this? Do I have to override rails handling of nested attributes? My models look like this, btw: class Grid < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :rows has_many :columns has_many :cells, :through => :rows accepts_nested_attributes_for :rows, :allow_destroy => true, :reject_if => lambda {|a| a[:description].blank? } accepts_nested_attributes_for :columns, :allow_destroy => true, :reject_if => lambda {|a| a[:description].blank? } end class Column < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :grid has_many :cells, :dependent => :destroy has_many :rows, :through => :grid end class Row < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :grid has_many :cells, :dependent => :destroy has_many :columns, :through => :grid accepts_nested_attributes_for :cells end class Cell < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :row belongs_to :column has_one :grid, :through => :row end

  • Make function declarations based on function definitions

    - by Clinton Blackmore
I've written a .cpp file with a number of functions in it, and now need to declare them in the header file. It occurred to me that I could grep the file for the class name, and get the declarations that way, and it would've worked well enough, too, had the complete function declaration before the definition -- return code, name, and parameters (but not function body) -- been on one line. It seems to me that this is something that would be generally useful, and must've been solved a number of times. I am happy to edit the output and not worried about edge cases; anything that gives me results that are right 95% of the time would be great. So, if, for example, my .cpp file had: i2cstatus_t NXTI2CDevice::writeRegisters( uint8_t start_register, // start of the register range uint8_t bytes_to_write, // number of bytes to write uint8_t* buffer = 0) // optional user-supplied buffer { ... } and a number of other similar functions, getting this back: i2cstatus_t NXTI2CDevice::writeRegisters( uint8_t start_register, // start of the register range uint8_t bytes_to_write, // number of bytes to write uint8_t* buffer = 0) for inclusion in the header file, after a little editing, would be fine. Getting this back: i2cstatus_t writeRegisters( uint8_t start_register, uint8_t bytes_to_write, uint8_t* buffer); or this: i2cstatus_t writeRegisters(uint8_t start_register, uint8_t bytes_to_write, uint8_t* buffer); would be even better.

  • Has anyone ever had OpenCV work with Python 2.7 on MacOS 10.6?

    - by ?????
I've been trying on and off for the past 6 months to get OpenCV to work with Python on MacOS. Every time there's a new release, I try again and fail. I've tried both 64-bit and 32-bit, and both the xcode gcc and gcc installed via macports. I just spend the past two days on it, hopeful that the latest OpenCV release, that appears to include Python support directly would work. It doesn't. I've also tried and failed to use this: http://code.google.com/p/pyopencv/ I've been using OpenCV with C++ or Microsoft C++/CLI for the past few years, but I'd love to use it with Python on a Mac because that is my primary development environment. I'd love to hear from anyone who's actually been able to get the opencv python examples to run under Mac OS 10.6, either 32 or 64-bit. My last attempt was to follow the instructions on this page http://recursive-design.com/blog/2010/12/14/face-detection-with-osx-and-python/ with a clean, fresh install of 10.6 on a 64-bit capable Mac. My PYTHONPATH is set, and I can see the cv library in it. But an "import cv" from python fails. Previously, the closest I've ever gotten (again, staring on a clean, fresh 10.6 install) was this: Python 2.7.1 (r271:86882M, Nov 30 2010, 10:35:34) [GCC 4.2.1 (Apple Inc. build 5664)] on darwin Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information. >>> import cv Fatal Python error: Interpreter not initialized (version mismatch?) Abort trap thrilllap-2:~ swirsky$ I've seen a lot of folks answering similar questions here, but have never seen an definitive answer for it.

  • Silverlight: Button template with texttrimming cut off

    - by dex3703
I'm replacing the default Button template's ContentPresenter with a TextBlock, so the text can be trimmed when it's too long. Works fine in WPF. In Silverlight the text gets pushed to one edge and cut off on the left, even when there's space on the right: Template is nothing special, just replaced the ContentPresenter with the TextBlock: <Border x:Name="bdrBackground" BorderBrush="{TemplateBinding BorderBrush}" BorderThickness="{TemplateBinding BorderThickness}" Background="{TemplateBinding Background}" /> <Rectangle x:Name="rectMouseOverVisualElement" Opacity="0"> <Rectangle.Fill> <SolidColorBrush x:Name="rectMouseOverColor" Color="{StaticResource MouseOverItemBgColor}"/> </Rectangle.Fill> </Rectangle> <Rectangle x:Name="rectPressedVisualElement" Opacity="0" Style="{TemplateBinding Tag}"/> <TextBlock x:Name="textblock" Text="{TemplateBinding Content}" TextTrimming="WordEllipsis" TextWrapping="NoWrap" HorizontalAlignment="{TemplateBinding HorizontalContentAlignment}" Margin="{TemplateBinding Padding}" VerticalAlignment="{TemplateBinding VerticalContentAlignment}"/> <Rectangle x:Name="rectDisabledVisualElement" Opacity="0" Style="{StaticResource RectangleDisabledStyle}"/> <Rectangle x:Name="rectFocusVisualElement" Opacity="0" Style="{StaticResource RectangleFocusStyle}"/> </Grid> </ControlTemplate> How do I fix this? More info: With the latest comment about HorizontalAlignment, it's clear that SL's implementation of TextTrimming differs from WPF's. In SL, TextTrimming only really works if the text is aligned left. SL isn't smart enough to align the text the way WPF does. For instance: WPF button: SL button with the textblock horizontalalignment = left: SL button with textblock horizontalalignment = center:

  • Tools for managing code deployment/versioning for IIS / Windows enviroments

    - by RizwanK
I've got a strong background in Linux and OSX, and just left a job where I was architecting systems based on those platforms. Now I've got a Windows Server running IIS that has a number of different websites that it hosts. Most of them are just a bunch of HTML, JS and Images, with some ASP for some customer tools. (Each website has a different set of customer tools, or they are the same tools, but with minor code changes between them.) I'm also adding a develop web server with the same code, but the 'bleeding edge' stuff. I need an effective way of managing changes and updates to the overall codebase (henceforth referring to both the images and the html and the asp, for all the sites). When a dev (or webmaster) checks in changes, I want it to show up automatically on the developer server, but should be manually pushed out to the live server. I'd be tempted to just make the websites SVN repositories, but I'd be concerned about the overhead of having the webdeveloper having to log into the server and trigger an SVN update via commandline/tortise (and heaven forbid, manage tags). Ideally I'd also manage IIS profile settings between the systems, but the major need is to be able to manage the process, and expose it to our ASP developer, and our webmaster, both of which are used to just FTPing up the files to the live site. So, any recommendations on tools (beyond some SVN hacking with BAT files + teaching the webmaster how to log into the server and do updates) or workflows that would help this out? I even considered an RPM type package (or some Windows equivalent, of course) to manage the live server, but that seems like a bit too much overhead. Thanks.

  • Parsing data from txt file in J2ME

    - by CSFYPMAIL
Basically I'm creating an indoor navigation system in J2ME. I've put the location details in a .txt file i.e. Locations names and their coordinates. Edges with respective start node and end node as well as the weight (length of the node). I put both details in the same file so users dont have to download multiple files to get their map working (it could become time consuming and seem complex). So what i did is to seperate the deferent details by typing out location Names and coordinates first, After that I seperated that section from the next section which is the edges by drawing a line with multiple underscores. Now the problem I'm having is parsing the different details into seperate arrays by setting up a command (while manually tokenizing the input stream) to check wether the the next token is an underscore. If it is, (in pseudocode terms), move to the next line in the stream, create a new array and fill it up with the next set of details. I found a some explanation/code HERE that does something similar but still parses into one array, although it manually tokenizes the input. Any ideas on what to do? Thanks Text File Explanation The text has the following format... <--1stSection--  /**   * Section one has the following format   * xCoordinate;yCoordinate;LocationName   */ 12;13;New York City 40;12;Washington D.C. ...e.t.c _________________________ <--(underscore divider) <--2ndSection--  /**   * Its actually an adjacency list but indirectly provides "edge" details.   * Its in this form   * StartNode/MainReferencePoint;Endnode1;distance2endNode1;Endnode2;distance2endNode2;...e.t.c   */ philadelphia;Washington D.C.;7;New York City;2 New York City;Florida;24;Illinois;71 ...e.t.c

  • Dynamically adjust padding on an image?

    - by Cory
What I'm basically attempting to do is dynamically change a padding value for a scrubber image based on player position data provided by an app. I have been able to leverage the provided number to dynamically increase the width of a progress overlay image and create a progress bar, but I would like a scrubber diamond at the leading edge of the progress bar. To do this, I have positioned the scrubber diamond at the same starting point as the progress overlay and would like to increase the padding on the diamond at the same rate as the width is increasing for the progress overlay, allowing them to pace each other with the scrubber diamond moving as the song plays. Any help with the script necessary to manipulate padding-left dynamically would be very much appreciated. var progress = Ecoute.playerPosition(); var width = 142.5 / length * progress + 1.63; EcouteSel('Progression').width = width.toString(); EcouteSel('Scrubber').style('padding-left', 'width'); We define progress as the player position, width as a function of the progress and then apply that function to the ID applied to the progress over lay image. But how do I accomplish that for padding-left? style.paddingLeft ...based functions have broken the controller outright. I'm at a loss and any help would be appreciated.

  • sIFR 3 randomly placing text on a single line in FF3.6

    - by bigsweater
Hello, sIFR 3 is behaving strangely in Firefox. The actual sIFR flash element is set within a box that is 412px wide. In IE, Chrome, Safari, etc., the with of the Flash element is a consistent 412px; however, in Firefox, the Flash element is briefly as wide as the Body element, before correcting itself. When the page finishes loading, sometimes the Flash element remains that wide, breaking the layout (the Flash text flows underneath the sidebar to the right). Setting a width in the CSS for the .sIFR-flash element causes it to remain the proper 412px wide, but the text doesn't wrap at all--it just cuts off at the right edge, and the height of the flash element remains one line high. The markup is simple; it's just an h2 within a div. My sIFR code: var clerkenwell = { src: '/flash/sifr.swf' }; sIFR.activate(clerkenwell); sIFR.replace(clerkenwell, { selector: '.post h2', css: '.sIFR-root { color: #1899c4; text-transform:uppercase; font-size:30px; }', transparent: 'true', }); Setting forceWidth: 'true', just causes the same problem as using a CSS width on the .sIFR-flash element. So: how can I get the sIFR text to remain as wide as its containing element while allowing for line breaks in Firefox? Thanks for any and all help!

  • Positioning objects in views during re-orientation in iPad

    - by Arni
iPad Gurus: Apple wants us to support all orientations. I take that to mean that a particular layout should either rotate so that all objects are positioned relatively the same OR, if that doesn't look good, then they ought to be repositioned, OR two views ought to be designed and built. If I rely on the built-in rotation mechanism, the objects either get resized or they straddle the edge of the page in one orientation or the other, or they disappear from view altogether. I can't seem to find the right settings to get the objects to align clearly so they are seen in each orientation. Repositioning leads to a lot of if statements in the View Controller. So I don't think Apple had that in mind. I tried replacing views and even view controllers in "willRotateToInterfaceOrientation" method, but that either causes crashes or the portrait views end up in landscape unexpectedly and vv. Moreover, two view controllers means double the coding for the same view. There must be proper way to handle orientation changes, but I have searched the internet and documentation and sample code in vain for something that works. How is this done properly? Thanks!

  • Need advice on C++ coding pattern

    - by Kotti
Hi! I have a working prototype of a game engine and right now I'm doing some refactoring. What I'm asking for is your opinion on usage of the following C++ coding patterns. I have implemented some trivial algorithms for collision detection and they are implemented the following way: Not shown here - class constructor is made private and using algorithms looks like Algorithm::HandleInnerCollision(...) struct Algorithm { // Private routines static bool is_inside(Point& p, Object& object) { // (...) } public: /** * Handle collision where the moving object should be always * located inside the static object * * @param MovingObject & mobject * @param const StaticObject & sobject * @return void * @see */ static void HandleInnerCollision(MovingObject& mobject, const StaticObject& sobject) { // (...) } So, my question is - somebody advised me to do it "the C++" way - so that all functions are wrapped in a namespace, but not in a class. Is there some good way to preserve privating if I will wrap them into a namespace as adviced? What I want to have is a simple interface and ability to call functions as Algorithm::HandleInnerCollision(...) while not polluting the namespace with other functions such as is_inside(...) Of, if you can advise any alternative design pattern for such kind of logics, I would really appreciate that...

  • flex positioning a button within a panel

    - by pfunc
All I'm trying to do is place a button inside of a panel, rotate that button (so it is vertical) and place it on the edge of the panel. I can;t seem to do this correctly. Here is my code: <mx:Panel id="weekList" width="260" height="100%" x="-500" title="Weeks" > <mx:List id="weekButtonList" width="260" borderVisible="false" contentBackgroundAlpha="0" dataProvider="{_data.mappoints.week.@number}" itemClick="onWeekClick(event);" > <mx:itemRenderer> <mx:Component> <mx:Button buttonMode="true" right="20" width="260" height="50" label="Week {data}" /> </mx:Component> </mx:itemRenderer> </mx:List> <mx:HBox id="closeButtonHolder" rotation="90" width="100" > <mx:Button label="OPEN" click="weekListToggle()" /> </mx:HBox> </mx:Panel> If you look at the part of the script you will see I am trying to rotate it and move it to the left. I am just trying to move it somewhere, and nothing is working. Also, the text seems to dissapear when I rotate it on a 90% axis. Anyone know what I can do for this?

  • Order words by number of letters, then place words neatly

    - by bmaster
I have a list of words in javascript similar to this: var words = ["mine", "minute", "mist", "mixed", "money", "monkey", "month", "moon", "morning", "mother", "motion", "mountain", "mouth", "move", "much", "muscle", "music", "nail", "name", "narrow", "nation", "natural", "near", "necessary", "neck", "need", "needle", "nerve", "net", "new", "news", "night"]; The words can be 1-25? letters long. I have a div id="words", with a set width of 700px (but I might change it from this). Using css/javascript/jquery, how can I make it: Order the words by number of letters Place the words inside the div tag, left to right, but so that there are no gaps at the right edge of the words div, and there is even spacing between words on a line. Each word should have a border around it and a background. Like this: |reallylongwordssdf shorterwordfdf dfsdfsdfsdf sdfsdfsdf| |sdfsdfsdf sdffsdop sdfjpogs sdfsds dfsdsd dfsdsd dfsdsd| I really have no idea where to begin with this. Perhaps I could manage to write code to order the words by number of letters, but after that, I'd be stuck. Edit: I forgot to add, the words must be links.

  • Java: JGraphT: Iterate through nodes

    - by Rosarch
    I'm trying to iterate through all nodes, so I can print them out for graphviz. What is the best way to do that using the JGraphT library? public static void main(String[] args) { UndirectedGraph<String, DefaultEdge> g = new SimpleWeightedGraph<String, DefaultEdge>(DefaultEdge.class); String odp = "ODP"; String cck = "CCK"; String mfe = "MFE"; g.addVertex(odp); g.addVertex(cck); g.addVertex(mfe); g.addEdge(odp, cck); g.addEdge(odp, mfe); } Also, how do I add edge weights? Edit: This seems to work pretty well. But is there a better way? Set<DefaultEdge> edges = g.edgeSet(); for (DefaultEdge e : edges) { gv.addln(String.format("\"%s\" -> \"%s\"", g.getEdgeSource(e), g.getEdgeTarget(e))); }

  • What happens when modifying Gemfile.lock directly?

    - by Mik378
Since the second time of bundle install execution, dependencies are loaded from Gemfile.lock when Gemfile isn't changed. But I wonder how detection of changes is made between those two files. For instance, if I'm adding a new dependency directly into Gemfile.lock without adding it into Gemfile (as opposed to the best practice since Gemfile.lock is auto-generated from Gemfile), would a bundle install consider Gemfile as changed ? Indeed, does bundle install process compares the whole Gemfile and Gemfile.lock trees in order to detect changes? If it is, even if I'm adding a dependency directly to Gemfile.lock, Gemfile would be detected as changed (since different) and would re-erase Gemfile.lock (so losing the added dependency...) What is the process of bundle install since the launch for the second time ? To be more clear, my question is: Are changes based only from Gemfile ? That means bundler would keep a Gemfile snapshot of every bundle install execution number N and merely compares it to the bundle install execution N+1 ? Or none snapshot are created in bundler memory and bundler makes a comparison with Gemfile.lock each time to detect if Gemfile must be considered as changed.

  • graph and all pairs shortest path in java

    - by Sandra
    I am writing a java program using Flyod-Warshall algorithm “All pairs shortest path”. I have written the following : a0 is the adjacency matrix of my graph, but has infinity instead of 0. vList is the list of vertexes and the cost for each edge is 1. Path[i][j] = k+1 means for going from I to j you first go to k then j int[][] path = new int[size][size]; for(int i = 0; i<path.length;i++) { for(int j = 0; j<path.length; j++) { if(adjM[i][j]==1) path[i][j]=j+1; } } //*************** for (int k = 0; k < vList.size(); k++) for (int i = 0; i < vList.size(); i++) for (int j = 0; j < vList.size(); j++) { if (a0[i][j]>a0[i][k]+ a0[k][j]) path[i][j] = k + 1; a0[i][j] = Math.min(a0[i][j], a0[i][k] + a0[k][j]); } After running this code, in the result a0 is correct, but path is not correct and I don’t know why!. Would you please help me?

  • Detecting well behaved / well known bots

    - by Simon_Weaver
I found this question very interesting : Programmatic Bot Detection I have a very similar question, but I'm not bothered about 'badly behaved bots'. I am tracking (in addition to google analytics) the following per visit : Entry URL Referer UserAgent Adwords (by means of query string) Whether or not the user made a purchase etc. The problem is that to calculate any kind of conversion rate I'm ending up with lots of 'bot' visits that are greatly skewing my results. I'd like to ignore as many as possible bot visits, but I want a solution that I don't need to monitor too closely, and that won't in itself be a performance hog and preferably still work if someone has javascript disabled. Are there good published lists of the top 100 bots or so? I did find a list at http://www.user-agents.org/ but that appears to contain hundreds if not thousands of bots. I don't want to check every referer against thousands of links. Here is the current googlebot UserAgent. How often does it change? Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +http://www.google.com/bot.html)

  • finding long repeated substrings in a massive string

    - by Will
I naively imagined that I could build a suffix trie where I keep a visit-count for each node, and then the deepest nodes with counts greater than one are the result set I'm looking for. I have a really really long string (hundreds of megabytes). I have about 1 GB of RAM. This is why building a suffix trie with counting data is too inefficient space-wise to work for me. To quote Wikipedia's Suffix tree: storing a string's suffix tree typically requires significantly more space than storing the string itself. The large amount of information in each edge and node makes the suffix tree very expensive, consuming about ten to twenty times the memory size of the source text in good implementations. The suffix array reduces this requirement to a factor of four, and researchers have continued to find smaller indexing structures. And that was wikipedia's comments on the tree, not trie. How can I find long repeated sequences in such a large amount of data, and in a reasonable amount of time (e.g. less than an hour on a modern desktop machine)? (Some wikipedia links to avoid people posting them as the 'answer': Algorithms on strings and especially Longest repeated substring problem ;-) )

  • Facebook call back function with timeout

    - by Dirty Bird Design
So I've been getting my ass kicked pretty good with Facebook's moving target of an API. I need to display some hidden content after a person clicks 'like' on a landing page. I can somewhat get this to work, when the user clicks 'like' the normal fb dialogue appears and then goes away immediately and content is displayed. I have 'achieved' this with the following js. <script> FB.Event.subscribe('edge.create', function(href, widget) { document.getElementById('goodies').style.display = "block"; document.getElementById('fb-content').style.display= "block"; document.getElementById('copy').style.display = "none"; }); </script> I cannot find any documentation about a callback event after someone hits "post to facebook" or after the dialogue closes, only afte they hit like. How would I incorporate a setTimeout function into this to give people some time to fill out the fb dialogue? thanks. If anyone has a better way to do this I'm all ears. This is for a business page and I cannot seem to add an app to get an app ID anymore so the API is pretty useless to me at this point. Also, if the url to be liked is a fb page, the callbacks don't seem to fire. Other code used: <html xmlns:fb="http://ogp.me/ns/fb#"> <div id="fb-root"></div> <script>(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1"; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk')); </script> <fb:like href="onlynonfburl.com" send="false" layout="button_count" width="450" show_faces="false" font="arial"></fb:like>

  • IE8, XHTML, position: fixed; and z-index.

    - by Joel
I have an XHTML 1.0 transitional Doctype. I have a <div> that is position: fixed; bottom: 0px; left: 0px; width: 100%; z-index: 200;. Inside that <div> I have two buttons which are position relative, aligned right, with a set z-index of 201; In Firefox the bar at the bottom and the two buttons are correctly located at the bottom. In IE8 however, the bar is visible and the z-index appears to be overlaying the other content, but the buttons are hidden behind the main div, despite being children and having their z-index set. I'm using the following meta tag; <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge" /> to force the document into IE8 mode. If I emulate IE7 (put on compatability mode), the bar and buttons work just fine. I don't understand how IE7's rendering is better than IE8. I don't want to have to force compatability mode due to other things that IE7 cannot render and IE8 can. Is there another solution, or have I missed something? Thanks.

  • Centering Divisions Around Zero

    - by Mark
I'm trying to create something that sort of resembles a histogram. I'm trying to create buckets from an array. Suppose I have a random array doubles between -10 and 10; this is very simplified. I then want to specify a center point, in this case 0 and the number of buckets. If I want 4 buckets the division would be -10 to -5, -5 to 0, 0 to 5 and 5 to 10. Not that complicated right. Now if I change the min and max to -12 and -9 and as for 4 divisions its more complicated. I either want a division at -3 and 3; it is centered around 0 ; or one at -6 to 0 and 0 to 6. Its not that hard to find the division size = Math.Ceiling((Abs(Max) + Abs(Min)) / Divisions) Then you would basically have an if statement to determine whether you want it centered on 0 or on an edge. You then iterate out from either 0 or DivisionSize/2 depending on the situation. You may not ALWAYS end up with the specified number of divisions but it will be close. Then you iterate through the array and increment the bin count. Does this seem like a good way to go about this? This method would surely work but it does not seem to be the most elegant. I'm curious as to whether the creation of the bins and the counting from the list could be done in a clever class with linq in a more elegant way? Something like creating the bins and then having each bin be a property {get;} that returns list.Count(x=> x >= Lower && x < Upper).

I know this seems to be a duplicate question which has been around here many many times, but believe me, I tried all iOS7 and earlier fixes which sets the Layout to a different Edge configuration without any change. My Storyboard looks like this: -> Navigation Controller -> Tab Bar Controller -> MyTableViewController -> VCForCellOne With the first run of my application the UITableView overlaps with the source NavigationController as shown here: After clicking on one of my Cells which pushes the corresponding ViewController to the NavigationController and going back again, everything looks fine as shown here: So everything is as it should be after once pushing another ViewController to the NavigationController and then going back. Switching from Portrait to Landscape and back also fixes the layout problem and everything is layed out as it should be. My ViewController within the Storyboard looks like this: I left it the default value, so I don't know what goes wrong here. I hope you understand my problem here. There's no custom class ViewController here, so no additional code which messes up something here. Any help highly appreciated!

  • Handle complex options with Boost's program_options

    - by R S
I have a program that generates graphs using different multi-level models. Each multi-level model consists of a generation of a smaller seed graph (say, 50 nodes) which can be created from several models (for example - for each possible edge, choose to include it with probability p). After the seed graph generation, the graph is expanded into a larger one (say 1000 nodes), using one of another set of models. In each of the two stages, each model require a different number of parameters. I would like to be have program_options parse the different possible parameters, according to the names of the models. For example, say I have two seed graphs models: SA, which has 1 parameters, and SB, which has two. Also for the expansion part, I have two models: A and B, again with 1 and 2 parameters, respectively. I would like to be able do something like: ./graph_generator --seed=SA 0.1 --expansion=A 0.2 ./graph_generator --seed=SB 0.1 3 --expansion=A 0.2 ./graph_generator --seed=SA 0.1 --expansion=B 10 20 ./graph_generator --seed=SB 0.1 3 --expansion=B 10 20 and have the parameters parsed correctly. Is that even possible?

  • Which one gives you more advantages: Microsoft or SUN/Oracle certification?

    - by edwin.nathaniel
Which one gives you more advantages: Microsoft or SUN/Oracle certification? If you don't mind, please relate your answer to your career (dev, sys-admin, dba), industry (finance, general consulting, business apps, software house), and location (where you live, does it influence your decision?) as well. One reason I asked this because I heard that having MCP (in C#, MCSAD or whatever the cert is called these days) could give you extra point from the employer perspective if they're a Microsoft Partner. I don't quite understand why and am also wondering if SUN/Oracle certificate holder have similar edge/benefit. I'm also interested to know if Certification plays role where you live. For example: certification could be a big negative sign in Silicon Valley, but might be helpful if you're in other US/Canada cities or outside USA/Canada. If you are an independent software consultant, do these certification helps you win bids? I totally understand that this question might be subjective and could be "closed". But it doesn't hurt to ask I suppose. I also understand that there are people who dislike/disagree (or have negative perspective on technology certification). While there are people who have the opinion that "these are not the kind of employers you would want to work with", I respect you guys, but sometime a pure software product company might not exist in certain cities in the world. And if certification can help one's career somewhere else, I guess that means more opportunities right? I've had experienced in both platforms: (short) .NET and (not too long) Java (minus Oracle DB stuff), but I think it's about time I have to pick one of them and be good at. Where I live right now might also dictates my career albeit insignificant. Anyhow, this last paragraph is just tiny blurb. Thanks!
