  • Java object graph -> xml when direction of object association needs to be reversed.

    - by Sigmoidal
An application I have been working on has objects with a relationship similar to below. In the real application both objects are JPA entities. class Underlying{} class Thing { private Underlying underlying; public Underlying getUnderlying() { return underlying; } public void setUnderlying(final Underlying underlying) { this.underlying = underlying; } } There is a requirement in the application to create xml of the form: <template> <underlying> <thing/> <thing/> <thing/> </underlying> </template> So we have a situation where the object graph expresses the relationship between Thing and Underlying in the opposite direction to how it's expressed in the xml. I expect to use JAXB to create the xml but ideally I don't want to have to create a new object hierarchy to reflect the associations in the xml. Is there any way to create xml of the form required from the entities in their current form (through the use of xml annotations or something)? I don't have any experience using JAXB but from the limited research I've done it doesn't seem like it's possible to reverse the direction of association in any straightforward way. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. One other option that has been suggested is to use XLST to transform the xml into the correct format. I have done no research on this topic as yet but I'll add to the question when I have some more info. Thanks, Matt.

  • Is there a way to catch assignments to or reads from an undefined property in the Spider-Monkey Java

    - by avri
The Spider-Monkey JavaScript engine implements the noSuchMethod callback function for JavaScript Objects. This function is called whenever JavaScript tries to execute an undefined method of an Object. I would like to set a callback function to an Object that will be called whenever an undefined property in the Object is accessed or assigned to. I haven't found a noSuchProperty function implemented for JavaScript Objects and I am curios if there is any workaround that will achieve the same result.

  • How to make System command calls in Java/Groovy?

    - by Zombies
What I want to do is invoke maven from a groovy script. The groovy script in question is used as a maven wrapper to build J2EE projects by downloading a tag and invoking maven on what was downloaded. How should I accomplish invoking maven to build/package the EAR (the groovy script is already capable of downloading the tag from SCM).

  • How to flatten list of options using higher order functions?

    - by Synesso
Using Scala 2.7.7: If I have a list of Options, I can flatten them using a for-comprehension: val listOfOptions = List(None, Some("hi"), None) listOfOptions: List[Option[java.lang.String]] = List(None, Some(hi), None) scala> for (opt <- listOfOptions; string <- opt) yield string res0: List[java.lang.String] = List(hi) I don't like this style, and would rather use a HOF. This attempt is too verbose to be acceptable: scala> listOfOptions.flatMap(opt => if (opt.isDefined) Some(opt.get) else None) res1: List[java.lang.String] = List(hi) Intuitively I would have expected the following to work, but it doesn't: scala> List.flatten(listOfOptions) <console>:6: error: type mismatch; found : List[Option[java.lang.String]] required: List[List[?]] List.flatten(listOfOptions) Even the following seems like it should work, but doesn't: scala> listOfOptions.flatMap(_: Option[String]) <console>:6: error: type mismatch; found : Option[String] required: (Option[java.lang.String]) => Iterable[?] listOfOptions.flatMap(_: Option[String]) ^ The best I can come up with is: scala> listOfOptions.flatMap(_.toList) res2: List[java.lang.String] = List(hi) ... but I would much rather not have to convert the option to a list. That seems clunky. Any advice?

    I'm trying to get the filenames in a folder inside a listview(that listview is inside a layout of a ViewPager) but i'm getting a NullPointerException and i can't figure what's wrong. public void citire() { ListView lv1 = (ListView) findViewById(R.id.lv1); myList = new ArrayList<String>(); File directory = Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory(); file = new File(directory + "/InterSRL"); File list[] = file.listFiles(); for (int i = 0; i < list.length; i++) { myList.add(list[i].getName()); } ArrayAdapter<String> adapter = new ArrayAdapter<String>(this, android.R.layout.simple_list_item_1, android.R.id.text1, myList); lv1.setAdapter(adapter); } I'm getting the error at lv1.setAdapter(adapter); 06-28 13:10:57.987: E/AndroidRuntime(30450): Caused by: java.lang.NullPointerException 06-28 13:10:57.987: E/AndroidRuntime(30450): at com.example.testlayout.Gestionare.citire(Gestionare.java:169) 06-28 13:10:57.987: E/AndroidRuntime(30450): at com.example.testlayout.Gestionare.onCreate(Gestionare.java:33) 06-28 13:10:57.987: E/AndroidRuntime(30450): at android.app.Activity.performCreate(Activity.java:5104) 06-28 13:10:57.987: E/AndroidRuntime(30450): at android.app.Instrumentation.callActivityOnCreate(Instrumentation.java:1080) 06-28 13:10:57.987: E/AndroidRuntime(30450): at android.app.ActivityThread.performLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:2144)

  • How to limit the number of connections to a SQL Server server from my tomcat deployed java applicati

    - by CJ
I have an application that is deployed on tomcat on server A and sends queries to a huge variety of SQL Server databases on an server B. I am concerned that my application could overload this SQL Server database server and would like some way to preventing it making requests to connect to any database on that server if some arbitrary number of connections were already in existence and unclosed. I am looking at using connection pooling but am under the impression that this will only pool connections to a specific database on the SQL Server server, I want to control the total of these combined connections that will occur to many different databases (incidentally I can only find out the names of individual db's dynamically as they change day to day). Will connection pooling take care of this for me, are am I looking at this from the wrong perspective? I have no access to the configuration of the SQL Server server. Links to tutorials or working examples of your suggested solution are most welcome!

  • In Android OS or Java, what's the difference between a character sequence and a string????

    - by K-RAN
For the API (Android SDK API version 8) functions whose definitions list character sequence parameters, I can feed the function String instead. Best part is that they work the same way, no hassle, no warnings. Is there a difference between the two types? And more importantly, is there an inherent danger if I send the function a String instead of a character sequence??? Thanks for any clarifications!!! :D

  • Is it ok to store large objects (java component for example) in an Application variable?

    - by DustMason
I am developing an app right now which creates and stores a connection to a local XMPP server in the Application scope. The connection methods are stored in a cfc that makes sure the Application.XMPPConnection is connected and authorized each time it is used, and makes use of the connection to send live events to users. As far as I can tell, this is working fine. BUT it hasn't been tested under any kind of stress. My question is: Will this set up cause problems later on? I only ask because I can't find evidence of other people using Application variables in this way. If I weren't using railo I would be using CF's event gateway instead to accomplish the same task.

  • Heroku only initializes some of my models.

So I ran heroku db:push And it returned Sending schema Schema: 100% |==========================================| Time: 00:00:08 Sending indexes schema_migrat: 100% |==========================================| Time: 00:00:00 projects: 100% |==========================================| Time: 00:00:00 tasks: 100% |==========================================| Time: 00:00:00 users: 100% |==========================================| Time: 00:00:00 Sending data 8 tables, 70,551 records groups: 100% |==========================================| Time: 00:00:00 schema_migrat: 100% |==========================================| Time: 00:00:00 projects: 100% |==========================================| Time: 00:00:00 tasks: 100% |==========================================| Time: 00:00:02 authenticatio: 100% |==========================================| Time: 00:00:00 articles: 100% |==========================================| Time: 00:08:27 users: 100% |==========================================| Time: 00:00:00 topics: 100% |==========================================| Time: 00:01:22 Resetting sequences And when I went to heroku console This worked >> Task => Task(id: integer, topic: string, content: string, This worked >> User => User(id: integer, name: string, email: string, But the rest only returned something like >> Project NameError: uninitialized constant Project /home/heroku_rack/lib/console.rb:150 /home/heroku_rack/lib/console.rb:150:in `call' /home/heroku_rack/lib/console.rb:28:in `call' >> Authentication NameError: uninitialized constant Authentication /home/heroku_rack/lib/console.rb:150 /home/heroku_rack/lib/console.rb:150:in `call' update 1: And when I typed >> ActiveRecord::Base.connection.tables it returned => ["projects", "groups", "tasks", "topics", "articles", "schema_migrations", "authentications", "users"] Using heroku's SQL console plugin I got SQL> show tables +-------------------+ | table_name | +-------------------+ | authentications | | topics | | groups | | projects | | schema_migrations | | tasks | | articles | | users | +-------------------+ So I think they are existing in heroku's database already. There is probably something wrong with rack db:migrate update 2: I ran rack db:migrate locally in both production and development modes and nothing wrong happened. But when I ran it on heroku it only returned: $ heroku rake db:migrate (in /disk1/home/slugs/389817_1c16250_4bf2-f9c9517b-bdbd-49d9-8e5a-a87111d3558e/mnt) $ Also, I am using sqlite3 update 3: so I opened up heroku console and typed in the following command class Authentication < ActiveRecord::Base;end Amazingly I was able to call Authentication class, but once I exited, nothing was changed.

  • Android :WindowManager$BadTockenException on Spinner Click

    - by Miya
Hi, I have a spinner in my home.class. When I click on the spinner, the process is stopped showing exception that WindowManager$BadTockenException is caught. I am calling this home.class from main.class which extends ActivityGroup. If I am simply run only the home.class, the spinner is showing all items. But the problem is only with calling home.class from main.class. The following are my code. Please tell me why this is happened. main.class public class main extends ActivityGroup { public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); Intent intent=new Intent(this, home.class); View view=getLocalActivityManager().startActivity("1", intent.addFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_CLEAR_TOP)).getDecorView(); setContentView(view); } } home.class String[] country={"Please selects","US","INDIA","UK"}; Spinner s2 = (Spinner) findViewById(R.id.spinnerCountry); ArrayAdapter<CharSequence> adapterCountry=new ArrayAdapter(this,android.R.layout.simple_spinner_item,country); adapterCountry.setDropDownViewResource(android.R.layout.simple_spinner_dropdown_item); s2.setAdapter(adapterCountry); s2.setOnItemSelectedListener(new OnItemSelectedListener() { public void onItemSelected( AdapterView<?> parent, View view, int position, long id) { countryName=country[position]; } public void onNothingSelected(AdapterView<?> parent) { countryName=country[0]; } }); Stack Thread [<1 main] (Suspended (exception WindowManager$BadTokenException)) AlertDialog(Dialog).show() line: 245 AlertDialog$Builder.show() line: 802 Spinner.performClick() line: 260 View$PerformClick.run() line: 9080 ViewRoot(Handler).handleCallback(Message) line: 587 ViewRoot(Handler).dispatchMessage(Message) line: 92 Looper.loop() line: 123 ActivityThread.main(String[]) line: 3647 Method.invokeNative(Object, Object[], Class, Class[], Class, int, boolean) line: not available [native method] Method.invoke(Object, Object...) line: 507 ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run() line: 839 ZygoteInit.main(String[]) line: 597 NativeStart.main(String[]) line: not available [native method] Thank You....

  • Is it possible to start an activity from a regular java class?

    - by Yotam
In my ActionBarSherlock I have the same menu items for all activities, so it seems unwise to define onClick handlers in each activity - they all do the same. Instead I created a class called MyClickListener that implements com.actionbarsherlock.view.MenuItem.OnMenuItemClickListener, and in there I have a simple switch block that starts the appropriate activity. Problem is that Intent constructor's first argument is of type Context, and even when I pass this to MyClickListener's constructor, I can't start any activity. The same goes for every method that has a Context object as a parameter. Is there a way to work around it? What is a context object? Thanks

  • Configure main domain and sub domain with diffrent resourcs in apache server

    - by Ritesh Patadiya
I have an issue to creating a sub domain in apache server. Normally we can do that by following way. <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName www.maindomain.com ServerAlias *.maindomain.com DocumentRoot "/home/abc/xyz" <Directory "/home/abc/xyz"> AllowOverride All Allow from All </Directory> </VirtualHost> In above example both main and sub domain share same Directory. But my requirement is main domain have its own resource and rest of sub domains have other resource. I want to do something like this. <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName www.maindomain.com DocumentRoot "/home/abc/xyz" <Directory "/home/abc/xyz"> AllowOverride All Allow from All </Directory> </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName xyz.maindomain.com ServerAlias *.maindomain.com DocumentRoot "/home/ghi/pqr" <Directory "/home/ghi/pqr"> AllowOverride All Allow from All </Directory> </VirtualHost> Above thing didn't work for me

  • Store Business Rules in XML Document, Validate afterwards in Java, how?

    - by JavaPete
Example XML Rules document: <user> <username> <not-null/> <capitals value="false"/> <max-length value="15"/> </username> <email> <not-null/> <isEmail/> <max-length value="40"/> </email> </user> How do I implement this? I'm starting from scratch, what I currently have is a User-class, and a UserController which saves the User object in de DB (through a Service-layer and Dao-layer), basic Spring MVC. I can't use Spring MVC Validation however in our Model-classes, I have to use an XML document so an Admin can change the rules I think I need a pattern which dynamically builds an algorithm based on what is provided by the XML Rules document, but I can't seem to think of anything other than a massive amount of if-statements. I also have nothing for the parsing yet and I'm not sure how I'm gonna (de)couple it from the actual implementation of the validation-process.
