  • Delphi - Sharing violation opening text file

    I'm trying to open a text file for reading in a Delphi 7 app, but am getting I/O error 32 (sharing violation) because another application already has the file open. I've tried setting FileMode to "fmOpenRead or fmShareDenyNone" but now realise this doesn't apply to text files anyway.   • MSMQ - Message Queue Abstraction and Pattern

    Hi All, Let me define the problem first and why a messagequeue has been chosen. I have a datalayer that will be transactional and EXTREMELY insert heavy and rather then attempt to deal with these issues when they occur I am hoping to implement my application from the ground up with this in mind. I have decided to tackle this problem by using the Microsoft Message Queue and perform inserts as time permits asynchronously. However I quickly ran into a problem. Certain inserts that I perform may need to be recalled (ie: retrieved) immediately (imagine this is for POS system and what happens if you need to recall the last transaction - one that still hasn’t been inserted). The way I decided to tackle this problem is by abstracting the MessageQueue and combining it in my data access layer thereby creating the illusion of a single set of data being returned to the user of the datalayer (I have considered the other issues that occur in such a scenario (ie: essentially dirty reads and such) and have concluded for my purposes I can control these issues). However this is where things get a little nasty... I’ve worked out how to get the messages back and such (trivial enough problem) but where I am stuck is; how do I create a generic (or at least somewhat generic) way of querying my message queue? One where I can minimize the duplication between the SQL queries and MessageQueue queries. I have considered using LINQ (but have very limited understanding of the technology) and have also attempted an implementation with Predicates which so far is pretty smelly. Are there any patterns for such a problem that I can utilize? Am I going about this the wrong way? Does anyone have an of their own ideas about how I can tackle this problem? Does anyone even understand what I am talking about? :-) Any and ALL input would be highly appreciated and seriously considered… Thanks again.

  • Vertical Aligned Text and Image in list

    Is there a way of vertical aligning text and an image in a list? e.g. <li>Some text here <img src="image.jpg" alt="" /></li> The text doesn't align in the middle of the side of the image, it appears at the bottom then the image is next to it. I need the text to be in the center point between the image on the side. What's the best way of doing it? I know having a image inside a list isn't valid HTML (AFAIK). Thanks :)

  • Changing Pushpin Text Color

    I'm attempting to display data through the text of a Pushpin object. However, the text color defaults to white which is nigh-invisible when the backdrop is a road-style MapView. Looking through the API, paying especially close attention to PushpinOptions, I couldn't find anything that manipulated text color. Considering that this seems to a fairly basic feature, I'm a little confused as to why it doesn't exist or at least is really hard to find. Am I missing something or does Bing Maps for Android really not let you change the default text color for a Pushpin object?

I have a button column that I create dynamically as such: ButtonField bfSelect = new ButtonField(); bfSelect.HeaderText = "View"; bfSelect.ButtonType = ButtonType.Link; bfSelect.CommandName = "View"; bfSelect.Text = "View"; grdAttachments.Columns.Add(bfSelect); The text on the button is the same for every row. I was wondering if there was any way to have the text be different for different rows depending on a condition. When I try to look at the text property of a particular row it is blank, if I try to set it, it does not change. Thanks in advance. Bob

    I have some keywords in the header of my website. Every few second I want one of them to glow up with the CSS text-shadow property. However, JQuery animation doesn't seem to support the CSS text-shadow property very well. http://jsfiddle.net/VWBsU/: This is kind of the result that I want, but the glow has to fade in and out. http://jsfiddle.net/VWBsU/1/ With a more common CSS-property, like color, the animation works perfectly, the red color kind of fades in. http://jsfiddle.net/VWBsU/2/ But the CSS text-shadow property doesn't even appear when trying to animate it. Does anyone know how to fade in and fade out a text-shadow property?

  • fix needed for bug in TextField/Text

    Sort of a complicated scenario - just curious if anyone else could come up with something: I have a Text control and when I scroll it and stop the scroll with the cursor over some text that has a url, the cursor doesn't revert to a hand, and also flash player starts acting as if a selection is being made from the last cursor position. So IOW a bonafide bug in flash as far as I can determine. The above probably wasn't completely clear so let me elaborate. If you grab a scrollbar thumb and start moving it up and down, you don't actually have to keep the mouse pointer on the thumb while doing so. When you stop the scroll, the mouse pointer could be outside the browser window, inside your flash application, but not currently on the scroll bar thumb, or wherever. The previously mentioned bug occurs when you stop the scroll with the mouse pointer positioned over text with an html anchor (a hyperlink). At that point the cursor enters into some state of limbo, and doesn't show the url hand pointer, and furthermore acts as if some text selection is taking place from the last cursor position prior to the scroll. So the question would be, what sort of event could I simulate in code to jolt flash out of this erroneous state it is in. And furthermore in what event could I perform this simulated event (given that for example there is no AS3 event to signal the end of a scroll.) To be clear, the Text control in question is on a canvas, and that canvas (call it A) is on another canvas which actually owns the scrollbar, and scrolling takes place by changing the scrollRect of canvas A.

Basically, I want to have the text in the section the figure is in wrap around it, but when I compile it my figure ends up being farther down the page next to text in another section. 1. How do I change this? 2.     Need suggestions on implementing associating single or many objects to an entity. All soccer team players are registered individually (e.g. they are part of 'players' table) A soccer team has many players. The click sequence is like this:- a] Soccer team owner provides a name and brief description of the soccer team. b] Now it wants to add players to this team. c] You have the following button 'Add players to team' which lets you navigate to the 'View Players' page and lets you multi select users from there. Assuming this is a paginated list of players, how do you handle the following:- Do you provide a check box against each player and let the manager do a multi selection. If you need to add more players, it doesn't make sense to show the players who have been already added to the team. Do you mark those entries as not selectable or you would adding showing these entries. If you need to filter, do you provide search filters at the top of this page. Am looking for ideas on how to implement this or sites which have already done something similar.

There is already a different submit button on my current page, so I can't simply make the button a submit button.     Hi, I have four models: Customer, QueueRed, QueueBlue, QueueGreen. The Queue models have a one to many relationship with customers A customer must always be in a queue A customer can only be in one queue at a time A customer can change queues We must be able to find out the customers current position in their respective queue In an object model the queues would just have an array property containing customers, but ActiveRecord doesn't have arrays. In a DB I would probably create some extra tables just to handle the order of the stories in the queue. My question is what it the best way to model the relationship in ActiveRecord? Obviously there are many ways this could be done, but what is the best or the most in line with how ActiveRecord should be used? Cheers, Chris

    Suppose I have a class A, and A1, A2 inherits from A. There are 2 functions: List<A1> getListA1(){...} List<A2> getListA2(){...} Now I want to do something similar to both A1 and A2 in another function public void process(List<A>){...} If I want to pass the instance of either ListA1 or ListA2, of course the types doesn't match because the compiler doesn't allow the coercion from List< A1 to List< A. I can't do something like this: List<A1> listA1 = getListA1(); List<A> newList = (List<A>)listA1; //this is not allowed. So what is the best approach to the process()? Is there any way to do it in a universal way rather than write the similar code to both List and List?

I've underlined the first line of text but now the second line seems to have drifted below.     Let's say you have an MVVM CRM application. You have a number of customer objects in memory, through a repository. What would be the appropriate place to handle tasks that aren't associated with traditional MVVM tasks from a GUI? For example, let's say every few minutes you want to check to see if their address is valid and pop up a notification if it is not. Or you want to send out an hourly e-mail update. Or you want a window to pop up to remind you to call a customer at a specific time. Where does this logic go? It's not GUI/action-oriented, and it's not logic that would be appropriate for a repository, I think.

    Hello, I wanted to be able to create a effect identical to CSS3 text-shadow Property, making it available to browsers that doesn’t support this CSS3 Property (like IE 7 and 8). And so I found two plugins: Text Shadow and Drop Shadow Effect. I decided to use Text Shadow, because it was released in the end of 2008, and because it was more straightforward. This worked great for IE8. However in IE7 shadows have twice the distance to the text, and links are weird. IE8 image IE7 image I am searching for a fix, or an alternative to this problem.
