Hi folks,
I'm using os.popen() in order to run a few commands.
This is what "man ls" looks like:
Any ideas why the text is displayed as such. I tried both Arial and Consolas fonts.
Help would be amazing! Thanks
What characters are allowed in linux environment variable names? My cursory search of man pages and the web did only produce information about how to work with variables, but not which names are allowed.
I have a Java program that requires an defined environment variable containing a dot, like com.example.fancyproperty. With Windows I can set that variable, but I had no luck setting it in linux (tried in SuSE and Ubuntu). Is that variable name even allowed?
Do we still need to bother with vcredist.exe when distributing windows native applications ? Does any of these come bundled with Win-7 ?
If not, are there any technical reasons these are not shipped to people via e.g. windows update - insteadof letting us burden the customers with yet-another-thing-that.must-work ? (Ok, that might sound argumentative, but I'm really wondering the reason these libraries are not default installed/updated on windows machines)
Hi,
I tried to invoke java inside bash script on windows (Win XP) using cygwin.
However path to java.exe contain spaces.
only literaly putting in bash sometghing like this worked:
/cygdrive/c/Program\ Files/Java/jdk1.5.0_10/bin/java -cp "$TOOL_HOME" DateParse "$DATE" "$FORMAT"
My attemts to put java path to a variable failed:
export JAVA_EXE="/cygdrive/c/Program\ Files/Java/jdk1.5.0_10/bin/java"
$JAVA_EXE -cp "$TOOL_HOME" DateParse "$DATE" "$FORMAT"
also different combination with cygpath, quotes, brackets did not work. I am not finding the the right combination
I have Visual Basic 6 Pro sp6, and I am wondering does Visual Studio 2010 Pro
have the Visual Basic 2010. It seems that I encounter Visual C only when I
look at this online.
Another question. Will the Visual Basic 6 IDE run in Windows 7-Win XP mode?
$sql = 'SELECT
id,
DATE_FORMAT(date,"%d.%m.%Y - %H.%i Uhr") AS dat,
user1,
user2,
p_user1,
p_user2,
be_user1,
be_user2,
win
FROM
kok_1on1_matches
WHERE
user1="$user"
OR
user2="$user"';
What is wrong with the WHERE statement?
I am looking at integrating a C# application with a barcode scanner.
The last time I did this was with Delphi 1 (win 3.11) using a scanner that plugged in-line into the keyboard cable.
Looking around it appears most scanners are USB based these days and assume they emulate keyboard entry.
Anybody know of more sophisticated/programmable scanner that can call a webservice or even just do a basic POST/GET this would eliminate the C# application and the computer to support it?
I am running a windows 2008 server and trying to manage its power such that the system drive should stop if not used for 10 min. My all of other power settings work except this one (same behaviour on my Win 7 workstation).
Is it something blocked by the OS or I am doing some mistake?

I am having a hard time to find out which font is used by the Win 7 File Explorer in the tree view on the left hand side. Better, of course, would be if I can programmatically find out which the right font is (C#).
I searched the Windows 7 design guidelines but this particular scenario is not listed (at least I couldn't find it).
So anyone good with fonts?
If I make a simple diff in git with e.g.:
git diff origin/master
where can I find good references on how to read the output of git. The man page on git-diff is rather long, and explains many cases which are maybe not necessary for a start.
Dear All,
I have to change the look and feel of my win form application of .net framework 3.5.

Is there a version of the CUPS server available for Windows? Looking at the CUPS source code it seems it is ready for Visual Studio compilation, but I did not find any trace of an actual supported package. I'd like to set up a CUPS server on Windows so that I can print form Linux/MacOSX/Win clients to printers I set up on this server.
The man page of epoll_ctl() says about EPOLLPRI:
There is urgent data available for
read(2) operations.
How exactly is "urgent data" defined and who decides which data has priority?
I would like to create a predicate to search for a specific letter at the start of each word in a string of words e.g. all words starting with A in @"The man ate apples", would return ate and apples. Is it possible to create such a predicate? Thank you.
I've checked out the man pages and did some searching but can't find info on ways to have rsync skip files greater than a certain size. We're doing rsync to an offline location and when someone puts a hug video file, the rsync jobs run into work hours.
I've looked at the 'exclude' syntax and didn't see anything for excluding based on file size.
Can I do it with rsync or should I look for other offline synching alternatives?

In Solaris, gcc gives me
implicit declaration of function `getopt'
when compiling
#include <unistd.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
int main(int argc, char *argv[]) {
getopt(1,argv,"");
return 0;
}
The man page for getopt says something about including unistd.h or stdio.h, however even though I'm inluding both I still get this warning. Is this normal? Is using functions that aren't explicitly declared common in Unix development?
Hi
I lost some notes and i have about 40 minutes before my pc will restart.
I know it might be imposible but anyway maybe i will learn something.
So the question goes:
Is there a RAM trace left by keyboard input that could be recovered in 40 minutes or less.
I use Win 7 build 7100.
I'm looking for cheap SSL certs for running a personal website over https without triggering Firefox's "you may be facing a man-in-the-middle-attack" response that self signed certs provoke. Nothing particularly fancy, no EV, etc. Any recommendations/where do you get your certificates from?
What is the best way to disable Alt + F4 in a c# win form to prevent the user from closing the form?
I am using a form as a popup dialog to display a progress bar and I do not want the user to be able to close it.
Thanks.
i saw this phrase in python 2.6 man:
class threading.Thread(group=None, target=None, name=None, args=(), kwargs={})
.
.
.
If the subclass overrides the constructor, it must make sure to invoke the base class constructor (Thread.__init__()) before doing anything else to the thread.
i just wanna know why?
