  • retrieving information from web service calls

    Hi all, I am trying to retrieve information from a web service call. The following is what I have so far. In my text view, it is showing Map {item=anyType{key=TestKey; value=2;}; item=anyType{key=TestField; value=adsfasd; };} When I ran that in the debugger, I can see the information above in the variable, tempvar. But the question is, how do I retrieve the information (i.e. the actual values of "key" and "value" in each of the array positions)? Yes, I know there is a lot going on in onCreate and I will fix it later.     A periodic computer generated message (simplified): Hello user123, - (604)7080900 - 152 - minutes Regards Using python, how can I extract "(604)7080900", "152", "minutes" (i.e. any text following a leading "- " pattern) between the two empty lines (empty line is the \n\n after "Hello user123" and the \n\n before "Regards").     I have a large image, size around 30000 (w) x 6000 (h) pixels. You may consider it's like a big map. I assume I need to crop it up into smaller tiles. Questions: what are the right ViewControllers to use? (link) what is the tile strategy? (I put this in another question, as it's not iPhone specific) Requirements: whole image (though cropped) can be scrolled up/down/left/right by swipes zoom in (up to pixel-to-pixel) out (down to screen-fit-by-height) by the 2-finger operation memory efficiency by lazy loading tiles Bonus requirements: automatic scroll, say from left to right slowly and smoothly Thanks!

  • Annoying white border when rotating a view in iPad

    When rotating a View from UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait to UIInterfaceOrientationPortraitUpsideDown on the iPad simulator, there is a white border along one side of the view (see diagram, lower left of the image). The white border shows only on one side, but not the opposite side. How can I prevent (hide) it? Thanks!

  • Custom Date Format with jax-rs in apache cxf?

    Hi, I have been googling to figure out how I can customize the Date format when I use jax-rs on apache CXF. I looked at the codes, and it seems that it only support primitives, enum and a special hack that assume the type associated with @ForumParam has a constructor with a single string parameter. This force me to use String instead of Date if I want to use ForumParam. it is kind of ugly.   • One config file for multiple environments

    I'm currently working with systems that has quite a lot of configuration settings that are environment specific (Dev, UAT, Production). Does anyone have any suggestions for minimizing the changes needed to the config file when moving between environments as well as minimizing the duplication of data in the config file? It's mostly Application settings rather than User settings. The way I'm doing it at the moment is something similar to this: <DevConnectionString>xyz</DevConnectionString> <DevInboundPath>xyz</DevInboundPath> <DevProcessedPath>xyz</DevProcessedPath> <UatConnectionString>xyz</UatConnectionString> <UatInboundPath>xyz</UatInboundPath> <UatProcessedPath>xyz</UatProcessedPath> ... <Environment>Dev</Environment> And then I have a class that reads in the Environment setting via the My.Settings class (it's VB project) and then uses that to decide what other settings to retrieve. This leads to too much duplication though so I'm not sure if it's worth it.

  • Rails: Generated tokens missing occasionally

    We generate an unique token for each user and store it on database. Everything is working fine in the local environment. However, after we upload the codes to the production server on Engine Yard, things become weird. We tried to register an account right after the deploy. It is working fine and we can see the token in the db. But after that, when we register new accounts, we cannot see any tokens. We only have NULL in the db. Not sure what caused this problem because we can't re-produce this in the local machine. Thanks for your help.

  • File permissions changed between OS X and Windows

    I zipped a rails project from OS X and sent it to a colleague who works on Windows. He updated the source, zipped the whole project folder and sent the zip file back to me. After unzipping the project, I found that the file permissions information is kind of lost. For example, the script/server is changed from -rwxr-xr-x to -rw-r--r--. Is there a way to preserver the file permission flags, when transferring files between mac and windows? Thanks

    I am look for a server side PDF library (or command line tool) which can: split a multi-page PDF file into individual PDF files, based on a search result of the PDF file content Examples: Search "Page ???" pattern in text and split the big PDF into 001.pdf, 002,pdf, ... ???.pdf A server program will scan the PDF, look for the search pattern, save the page(s) which match the patten, and save the file in the disk. It will be nice with integration with PHP / Ruby. Command line tool is also acceptable. It will be a server side (linux or win32) batch processing tool. GUI/login is not supported. i18n support will be nice but no required. Thanks~

  • acts_as_solr returns all rows in the database when using the model as search query

    In our application we're using acts_as_solr for search. Everything seems to be running smoothly except for the fact that using the model name as the search query returns every single row in the table. For example, let's say we have a users table. We specify acts_as_solr in our model to search the fields first name, last name and handle acts_as_solr :fields = [:handle, :lname, :fname]. When you use "user" as the search term it returns every single user in the system, or every row in the database as a result. Has anyone else run into this?

  • Formatting when copying SQL data and pasting in Excel

    I want to copy a sql result set and paste it in Excel. But the data I paste in to the spreadsheet doesn't want to recognize Excel formatting. So if I change a column to currency, it doesn't do anything. But...if I double click on a cell, THEN it applies the currency format. But only to that cell. How can I make it automatically recognize the Excel format? I must be something I'm missing. Hopefully somebody can help. :-)
