  • jquery validator message styling error in IE08 only when customised using errorPlacement function

    Going back to the errorplacement solution by Nadia (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/860055/jquery-override-default-validation-error-message-display-css-popup-tooltip-like) I have tried it and it works like a charm in Safari and Firefox but causes IE08 to bypass the jqueryvalidator and go straight to the server side validator. My code is this - as soon as I insert 'error element.... it is unstable in IE08.     Hi, Accidently I created this nice colored effect on my LaTeX TOC: http://i43.tinypic.com/o5aptl.png Which I like and want to keep, I created this effect like this: \definecolor{Section1}{rgb}{0.09,0.21,0.36} \section{\color{Section1}Introdução} However, as you can see on the TOC sidebar, there was a nasty side effect. I tried to fix it like this: \section[Introdução]{\color{Section1}Introdução} But didn't work, the sidebar TOC was fixed but on the TOC list, the blue color was gone and was now red instead (default for clickable TOC heading links) I also tried: {\color{Section1}\section{Introdução}} But the effect was the same, fixed TOC but no color on the TOC list. Any suggestions?

    I'm making a LaTeX document for someone. A certain piece of text looks "bold" for them, even though I'm not using the \textbf command. It's just a normal default LaTeX font. Is there any command to make a 'lighter version', i.e. make the text lighter, thinner? Something that looks to normal text, what normal text looks to bold?

    I have this function called ProperCase that takes a string, then converts the first letter in each word to uppercase. So ProperCase("john smith") will return "John Smith".   • Stop Excel from changing cell contents, ever

    I work with card numbers, like credit card and ID numbers. We do not do any calculations with card numbers, obviously. They are "text." I format them as text, I type them like text. I know how that works. Excel doesn't care. 16 digit card numbers get their last digit turned into a zero, changed into scientific notation, stupid stuff that I did not tell Excel to do. I need to do things like Find/Remove spaces from cells in files downloaded from our currently imperfect web-system. The system sends me files with 16 digit numbers, cells formatted as text, but due to bugs there are spaces at the end. I do Find/Remove all spaces and all my card numbers are transformed into scientific notation and the last digit turned into a 0. THEY ARE TEXT, they are formatted as text, I yelled into the screen that they are text, why does Excel refuse to acknowledge that they are text? (I would rather find a way to stop Excel's action than find a way to tell our programmers to put an apostrophe in every cell) How do I make it so that Excel just STOPS doing anything that I didn't tell it to do? Or at least stop it from doing anything to numbers it doesn't like. Maybe I can write a macro for whenever it discovers "Uhoh I should change that number to something different!" I'll make it format that cell to text a thousand times instead. Give me an error when I try calculating with a number larger than 15 digits, make my computer explode violently, that's fine. Just stop changing the numbers. Is it possible? I have many thousands of numbers that need changing in many different scenarios. I just want to stop it from trying to help. I can't understand why that would be difficult. I have 2007, but answers for other versions would be great as well. Thank you!

  • Render view as string then redirect.

    In my ASP.NET MVC application, I would like my controller action to render a view to a string, send an email using that string as the body, then do a redirect. I've found several articles here on SO and elsewhere on how to render the view to a string. That part was easy. But when I attempt to perform the redirect, I get an HttpException: Cannot redirect after HTTP headers have been sent. I've tried setting Response.Buffer and Response.BufferOutput to true, I've tried Response.Clear, nothing seems to work. Is it possible to render a view to a string, then do a redirect?

    I have a string 12012009 input by the user in ASP.NET MVC application. I wanted to convert this to a DateTime. But if I do DateTime.TryParse("12012009", out outDateTime); it returns a false. So I tried to convert 12012009 to 12/01/2009 and then do DateTime.TryParse("12/01/2009", out outDateTime); which will work But I don't find any straight forward method to convert string 12012009 to string "12/01/2009". Any ideas?
