Can you please give me a simple, and straightforward python example of sending an HTML e-mail using App Engine? Plaintext is straightforward, but I'm having difficulties with HTML tags.
Hi! I was wondering how to make a simple Clipboard Monitor in python, for GUI I'm using PyGTK.
I found gtk.clipboard class and all that but I couldn't find any solution to get the "signals" to trigger the event when the clipboard content has changed :(
Any ideas?
Thanks you! :)
Windows XP, Python 2.5:
hash('http://stackoverflow.com') Result: 1934711907
Google App Engine (http://shell.appspot.com/):
hash('http://stackoverflow.com') Result: -5768830964305142685
Why is that? How can I have a hash function which will give me same results across different platforms (Windows, Linux, Mac)?
Hi folks,
I'm having quite a problem deciding how to serve a few Python scripts.
The problem is that the basic functionality could be generalized by this:
do_something()
time.sleep(3)
do_something()
I tried various WSGI servers, but they have all been giving me concurrency limitations, as in I have to specify how many threads to use and so on.
I only wish that the resources on the server be used efficiently and liberally.
Any ideas?
I have a python module with a lot of variables. These variables are used and changed by many other modules. And I want to reload this module from itself when it happens (for refresh).
How to do that?
# ==================================
# foo.py
spam = 100
def set_spam(value):
spam = value
foo = reload(foo) # reload module from itself
# ==================================
# bar.py
import foo
print foo.spam # I expect 100
# assume that value changes here from some another modules (for example, from eggs.py, apple.py and fruit.py)
foo.set_spam(200)
print foo.spam # I expect 200
When I run my python script in the shell terminal, it works
sudo myscript.py --version=22 --base=252 --hosts="{'hostA':[1],'hostB':[22]}"
But when I run in Hudson and Jenkins, using Execute Shell step, somehow, the string --hosts="{'hostA':[1],'hostB':[22]}" is interpreted as
sudo myscript.py --version=22 --base=252 '--hosts="{'hostA':[1],'hostB':[22]}"'
How do we overcome this so that our script would run in Jenkins and Hudson ?
Thank you.
Sincerely
Given a PyObject* pointing to a python object, how do I invoke one of the object methods? The documentation never gives an example of this:
PyObject* obj = ....
PyObject* args = Py_BuildValue("(s)", "An arg");
PyObject* method = PyWHATGOESHERE(obj, "foo");
PyObject* ret = PyWHATGOESHERE(obj, method, args);
if (!ret) {
// check error...
}
This would be the equivalent of
>>> ret = obj.foo("An arg")
Hi
I wrote a matlab code (that easily could be implimented as a function) that convert a series of BMPs to avi. I want a python program to call to this program/function. how do I do it?

When I run some python code in NetBeans, which raises an error, the output in NetBeans just gives an error message and no further information, such as line number. Is there any way to fix that?
Working with Python in Emacs if I want to add a try/catch to a block of code, I often find that I am having to indent the whole block, line by line. In Emacs, how do you indent the whole block at once.
I am not an experienced Emacs user, but just find it is the best tool for working through ssh. I am using Emacs on the command line(Ubuntu), not as a gui, if that makes any difference.
How to truncate sthe string to 75 characters only in python
This is how it was done in javascript
var data="saddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddsaddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddsadddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd"
var info = (data.length > 75) ? data.substring[0,75] + '..' : data;
I have a list L of objects (for what it's worth this is in scons). I would like to create two lists L1 and L2 where L1 is L with an item I1 appended, and L2 is L with an item I2 appended.
I would use append but that modifies the original list.
How can I do this in Python? (sorry for the beginner question, I don't use the language much, just for scons)
In the effort to learn python and/or ruby, I was wondering how a file shredder would be implemented? I would like it to take in a file as an argument and then employ an algorithm to make that file unrecoverable. Would possibly add the support for multiple files or even whole directories later.
Hey
Is it possible with python to set the timezone just like this in php:
date_default_timezone_set("Europe/London");
$Year = date('y');
$Month = date('m');
$Day = date('d');
$Hour = date('H');
$Minute = date('i');
I can't really install any other modules etc as I'm using shared web hosting.
Any ideas?
Let's say that I have the following text:
in = "one aaa two bbbb three cccc"
I would like to parse this into a group of variables that contain
notworking = ["one", "two", "three"]
v1,v2,v3 = in.split(notworking)
I know that the example above won't work, but is there some utility in python that would allow me to use this sort of approach? I know what the identifiers will be in advance, so I would think that there has got to be a way to do this...
Thanks for any help,
jml
I have a large data set of tuples containing (time of event, latitude, longitude) that I need to visualize. I was hoping to generate a 'movie'-like xy-plot, but was wondering if anyone has a better idea or if there is an easy way to do this in Python?
Thanks in advance for the help,

How can I protect my web server, if I run custom users code on server. If any user can submit his python source on my server and run it.
Maybe some modules or linux tools for close any network and hardware activity for this script.
Thank's all for help!
What Python libraries do folks use for querying Amazon product data? (Amazon Associates Web Service - used to be called E-Commerce API, or something along those lines).
Based on my research, PyAWS (http://pyaws.sourceforge.net/) seems okay, but still pretty raw (and hasn't been updated in a while). Wondering if there's an obvious canonical library that I'm just missing.
I have a system where a central Java controller launches analysis processes, which may be written in C++, Java, or Python (mostly they are C++). All these processes currently run on the same server. What are you suggestions to
Create a central log to which all processes can write to
What if in the future I push some processes to another server. How can I support distributed logging?
Thanks!
I'd like to work with a dict in python, but limit the number of key/value pairs to X. In other words, if the dict is currently storing X key/value pairs and I perform an insertion, I would like one of the existing pairs to be dropped. It would be nice if it was the least recently inserted/accesses key but that's not completely necessary.
If this exists in the standard library please save me some time and point it out!
Much like Java (or php), I'm use to seperating the classes to files.
Is it the same deal in Python? plus, how should I name the file?
Lowercase like classname.py or the same like ClassName.py?
Do I need to do something special if I want to create an object from this class or does the fact that it's in the same "project" (netbeans) makes it ok to create an object from it?
Can somebody explain to me why this works (in Python 2.5) :
class Foo(object):
pass
class Bar(Foo):
pass
print(Foo.__subclasses__())
but this doesn't :
class Foo():
pass
class Bar(Foo):
pass
print(Foo.__subclasses__())
The latter returns "AttributeError: class Foo has no attribute '__subclasses__'" but i'm not sure why. I know this is related to old-style vs. new-style classes but i'm not clear on why that would make this functionality unavailable.
Hello,
I want to make an executable file (.exe) of my python's application.
I want to know how to do it but have this in mind:
I use a c++ dll!
Do I have to put the dll along side with the .exe or is there some other way?
Thanks in advance!
What do the bit operators like AND(&),OR(|),XOR(^) in python do behind the screen? What do they calculate? I cannot understand the results they give when used in a program?
30&45 yields 12. How can we relate these three?
30|45 yields 63. How are these three related?
Please answer this...
