  • functions in F# .. why is it not compiling

    - by Tanmoy
    Hi, I have written two versions of code. The first one works as expected and print "Hi". the second one gives me error that "block following this let is unfinished" 1st version #light let samplefn() = let z = 2 let z = z * 2 printfn "hi" samplefn() 2nd version #light let samplefn() = let z = 2 let z = z * 2 samplefn() Only difference is the printfn is absent in the second version. I am using Visual Studio 2010 as my IDE. I am very new to F# but this error seems very strange to me. I guess I am missing some very important concept. Please explain. Edit: Also if I do it outside the function I get error even with the first version of code. #light let z = 2 let z = z * 2 printfn "Error: Duplicate definition of value z"

  • Issue scrolling table view with content inset

    - by Rog
    Hi all, I am experiencing a weird scrolling issue and I was hoping someone could give me a hand in trying to identify why this is happening. I have included the part of my code that I think is relevant to the question but am happy to update this post with whatever else is needed. I have implemented a pull to refresh view in the tableview's content inset area. The refresh fires an Async NSURLConnection that pulls data from a webserver, parses the relevant information and refreshes the table as required. This is where the refresh process kicks off: - (void)scrollViewDidEndDragging:(UIScrollView *)scrollView willDecelerate:(BOOL)decelerate{ if (scrollView.contentOffset.y <= - 65.0f && !self.reloading) { self.reloading = YES; [self reloadTableViewDataSource]; [refreshHeaderView setState:EGOOPullRefreshLoading]; [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:NULL]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:0.2]; self.tableView.contentInset = UIEdgeInsetsMake(60.0f, 0.0f, 0.0f, 0.0f); [UIView commitAnimations]; } } Problem is if I start to scroll whilst the content inset is "visible" (i.e. during reload) I get this weird behaviour where my table sections do not scroll all the way to the top - see screenshot for a clear visual of what I am trying to describe here. I have included a couple of screenshots below that clearly identify what is happening at the moment. Has anyone experienced this before? Any ideas on what I should be looking at to try and fix it? Many thanks in advance, Rog And this is the result if I start scrolling the table. The orange bit at the top of the image is the actual navigation bar, where I would expect the table section (date 1 December 2010) to be.

  • C#: Preferred pattern for functions requiring arguments that implement two interfaces

    - by JS Bangs
    The argument to my function f() must implement two different interfaces that are not related to each other by inheritance, IFoo and IBar. I know of two different ways of doing this. The first is to declare an empty interface that inherits from both: public interface IFooBar : IFoo, IBar { // nothing to see here } public int f(IFooBar arg) { // etc. } This, of course, requires that the classes declare themselves as implementing IFooBar rather than IFoo and IBar separately. The second way is to make f() generic with a constraint: public int f<T>(T arg) where T : IFoo, IBar { // etc. } Which of these do you prefer, and why? Are there any non-obvious advantages or disadvantages to each?

  • jquery callback functions failing to finish execution

    - by calumbrodie
    I'm testing a jquery app i've written and have come across some unexpected behaviour $('button.clickme').live('click',function(){ //do x (takes 2 seconds) //do y (takes 4 seconds) //do z (takes 0.5 seconds) }) The event can be triggered by a number of buttons. What I'm finding is that when I click each button slowly (allowing 10 seconds between clicks) - my callback function executes correctly (actions x, y & z complete). However If I rapidly click buttons on my page it appears that the function sometimes only completes up to step x or y before terminating. My question: Is it the case that if this function is fired by a clicking second DOM element, while the first callback function is completing - will jQuery terminate the first callback and start over again? Do I have to write my callback function explicitly outside the event handler and then call it?? function doStuff() { //do x //do y //do z ( } $('button.clickme).live('click',doStuff()) If this is the case can someone explain why this is happening or give me a link to some advice on best practice on closures etc - I'd like to know the BEST way to write jQuery to improve performance etc. Thanks

  • Question about variable definitions in functions.

    - by Kaan Tekelioglu
    Hi. #include <stdio.h> main() { int a; for(a=1; a<=4 && printf("%d ",a); a++) { int a; static int b=a; printf("%d ",(a++)-b); } getchar(); getchar(); } In this code, the printout is 1 0 2 1 3 2 4 3. I understand why the int a; part works differently then the int a which was defined outside the for function, and why static int b; is only defined once with the primary value of a ; but why does the (a++) part in printf affect proceeding values of a? Don't we redefine int a; each time the for function runs? Thanks in advance.

  • Using functions like formulas in Excel

    - by Arlen Beiler
    I am trying to use a formula to get a letter of the alphabet. Formula: =Keytable(RANDOM,ROW()) Function: Function KeyTable(seed As Long, position As Long) As String Dim i As Long Stop Dim calpha(1 To 26) As String Dim alpha(1 To 26) As String For i = 1 To 26 alpha(i) = Chr(i + UPPER_CASE - 1) Next i For i = 1 To 26 calpha(i) = alpha(seed Mod 27 - i) Next i Stop KeyTable = calpha(position) End Function Result: #Value! When I step through the function, it never gets to the second stop.

  • C++ Beginner - 'friend' functions and << operator overloading: What is the proper way to overload an

    - by Francisco P.
    Hello, everyone! In a project I'm working on, I have a Score class, defined below in score.h. I am trying to overload it so, when a << operation is performed on it, _points + " " + _name is returned. Here's what I tried to do: ostream & Score::operator<< (ostream & os, Score right) { os << right.getPoints() << " " << right.scoreGetName(); return os; } Here are the errors returned: 1>c:\users\francisco\documents\feup\1a2s\prog\projecto3\projecto3\score.h(30) : error C2804: binary 'operator <<' has too many parameters (This error appears 4 times, actually) I managed to get it working by declaring the overload as a friend function: friend ostream & operator<< (ostream & os, Score right); And removing the Score:: from the function declaration in score.cpp (effectively not declaring it as a member). Why does this work, yet the code describe above doesn't? Thanks for your time! Below is the full score.h /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// // Score.h // Implementation of the Class Score // Created on: 10-Mai-2010 11:43:56 // Original author: Francisco /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// #ifndef SCORE_H_ #define SCORE_H_ #include <string> #include <iostream> #include <iostream> using std::string; using std::ostream; class Score { public: Score(string name); Score(); virtual ~Score(); void addPoints(int n); string scoreGetName() const; int getPoints() const; void scoreSetName(string name); bool operator>(const Score right) const; ostream & operator<< (ostream & os, Score right); private: string _name; int _points; }; #endif

I have tried... myCollection.FindAll(bool delegate(Stock stock) { if (blah blah) { } }); But it appears I have somehow structured it incorrectly as I get the following error. "Error 1 Invalid expression term 'bool'"

  • Make TBODY scrollable in Webkit browsers

    - by Andrew
    I'm aware of this question, but none of the answers work in Safari, Chrome, etc. The accepted strategy (as demonstrated here) is to set the tbody height and overflow properties like so: <table> <thead> <tr><th>This is the header and doesn't scroll</th></tr> </thead> <tbody style="height:100px; overflow:auto;"> <tr><td>content that scrolls</td></tr> <tr><td>content that scrolls</td></tr> <tr><td>content that scrolls</td></tr> <tr><td>content that scrolls</td></tr> <tr><td>content that scrolls</td></tr> <tr><td>content that scrolls</td></tr> <tr><td>content that scrolls</td></tr> </tbody> </table> Unfortunately, this does not work in any webkit browsers. There is a bug report about it that doesn't seem to be a high priority (reported June 05). So my question is: are there alternate strategies that do actually work? I've tried the two-table approach, but it's impossible to guarantee that the header will line up with the content. Do I just have to wait for Webkit to fix it?

  • How cast in XML for aggregate functions

    - by renegm
    In SQL Server 2008. I need execute a query like that: DECLARE @x AS xml SET @x=N'<r><c>First Text</c></r><r><c>Other Text</c></r>' SELECT @x.query('fn:max(r/c)') But return nothing (apparently because convert xdt:untypedAtomic to numeric) How to "cast" r/c to varchar? Something like SELECT @x.query('fn:max(«CAST(r/c «AS varchar(20))»)') Edit: Using Nodes the function MAX is from T-SQL no fn:max function In this code: DECLARE @x xml; SET @x = ''; SELECT @x.query('fn:max((1, 2))'); SELECT @x.query('fn:max(("First Text", "Other Text"))'); both query return expected: 2 and "Other Text" fn:max can evaluate string expression ad hoc. But the first query dont work. How to force string arguments to fn:max?

  • what functions are called when passing value to function

    - by Tim
    In C++, if an object of a class is passed as a parameter into a function, the copy constructor of the class will be called. I was wondering if the object is of nonclass type, what function will be called? Similarly in C, what function is called when passing values or address of variables into a function? Thanks and regards!

  • prevent using functions before initialization, constructors-like in C

    - by Hernán Eche
    This is the way I get to prevent funA,funB,funC, etc.. for being used before init #define INIT_KEY 0xC0DE //any number except 0, is ok static int initialized=0; int Init() { //many init task initialized=INIT_KEY; } int funA() { if (initialized!=INIT_KEY) return 1 //.. } int funB() { if (initialized!=INIT_KEY) return 1 //.. } int funC() { if (initialized!=INIT_KEY) return 1 //.. } The problem with this approach is that if some of those function is called within a loop so "if (initialized!=INIT_KEY)" is called again, and again, although it's not necessary. It's a good example of why constructors are useful haha, If it were an object I would be sure that when was created initialization was called, but in C, I don't know how to do it. Any other ideas are welcome!

  • Clojure multimethod dispatching on functions and values

    - by Josh Glover
    I have a function that returns the indexes in seq s at which value v exists: (defn indexes-of [v s] (map first (filter #(= v (last %)) (zipmap (range) s)))) What I'd like to do is extend this to apply any arbitrary function for the existence test. My idea is to use a multimethod, but I'm not sure exactly how to detect a function. I want to do this: (defmulti indexes-of ???) (defmethod indexes-of ??? [v s] ;; v is a function (map first (filter v (zipmap (range) s)))) (defmethod indexes-of ??? [v s] ;; v is not a function (indexes-of #(= v %) s)) Is a multimethod the way to go here? If so, how can I accomplish what I'm trying to do?

  • Does JSLint parse DOM functions?

    - by Paul
    I tried to use the parse() function of JSLint to parse three pieces of JavaScript code: function(b, c){var a = b + c; return a; } window.addEventListener('click', click_hanlder, true); document.documentElement.innerHTML; Here's the code, which is copied and pasted from the JSLint self-parse example: ` try { parse = make_parse(); var source = "something to parse";//replaced by the code above tree = parse(source); if (tree) { document.write(JSON.stringify(tree, ['key', 'name', 'message', 'value', 'arity', 'first', 'second', 'third', 'fourth'], 4)); } } catch (e) { document.write(JSON.stringify(e, ['name', 'message', 'from', 'to', 'key', 'value', 'arity', 'first', 'second', 'third', 'fourth'], 4)); } ` The output: returns a correct tree. returns a tree with only one node of "window". crashes the browser. I'm wondering whether JSLint doesn't support DOM function.

  • Calling functions outside paths

    - by user1775718
    In mongojs, when you do: var birds = db.birds.find(searchTerm, callback); ...how do you pass arguments to the callback? I've tried bind, as in: birds = db.birds.find(searchTerm, app.get('getBirds').bind(res)); ...but to no avail. Just fyi I'm trying to pass the response object of the GET route so that the callback can render using res.send(results). The other option is to set app.set('res': res); and call app.get('res') from the callback - I'm not sure this is a good idea. It works, but it doesn't obey the events loop model too well - I think the request back to the app may be costly? Any help would be gratefully accepted. :)

  • Delegate Methods Not Firing on Search Results Table

    - by Slinky
    All, I have a UITableView w/detail, with a Search bar, created from code. Works fine on selected items except it doesn't work when an item is clicked from the search results; no delegate methods fire. Never seen this type of behavior before so I don't know where the issue lies. I get the same behavior with standard table cells as well as custom table cells. Appreciate any guidance on this and thanks. Just Hangs Here //ViewController.h @interface SongsViewController : UITableViewController <UISearchBarDelegate,UISearchDisplayDelegate> { NSMutableArray *searchData; UISearchBar *searchBar; UISearchDisplayController *searchDisplayController; UITableViewCell *customSongCell; } //ViewController.m -(void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; CGRect screenRect = [[UIScreen mainScreen] bounds]; CGFloat screenWidth = screenRect.size.width; searchBar = [[UISearchBar alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, screenWidth, 88)]; [searchBar setShowsScopeBar:YES]; [searchBar setScopeButtonTitles:[[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:@"Title",@"Style", nil]]; searchDisplayController = [[UISearchDisplayController alloc] initWithSearchBar:searchBar contentsController:self]; searchDisplayController.delegate = self; searchDisplayController.searchResultsDataSource = self; self.tableView.tableHeaderView = searchBar; //Load custom table cell UINib *songCellNib = [UINib nibWithNibName:@"SongItem" bundle:nil]; //Register this nib, which contains the cell [[self tableView] registerNib:songCellNib forCellReuseIdentifier:@"SongItemCell"]; // create a filtered list that will contain products for the search results table. SongStore *ps = [SongStore defaultStore]; NSArray *songObjects = [ps allSongs]; self.filteredListContent = [NSMutableArray arrayWithCapacity: [songObjects count]]; self.masterSongArr = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithArray:[ps allSongs]]; [self refreshData]; [self.tableView reloadData]; self.tableView.scrollEnabled = YES; }

  • Function pointers to member functions

  • Saving tags into a database table in CakePHP

    - by Cameron
    I have the following setup for my CakePHP app: Posts id title content Topics id title Topic_Posts id topic_id post_id So basically I have a table of Topics (tags) that are all unique and have an id. And then they can be attached to post using the Topic_Posts join table. When a user creates a new post they will fill in the topics by typing them in to a textarea separated by a comma which will then save these into the Topics table if they do not already exist and then save the references into the Topic_posts table. I have the models set up like so: Post model: class Post extends AppModel { public $name = 'Post'; public $hasAndBelongsToMany = array( 'Topic' => array('with' => 'TopicPost') ); } Topic model: class Topic extends AppModel { public $hasMany = array( 'TopicPost' ); } TopicPost model: class TopicPost extends AppModel { public $belongsTo = array( 'Topic', 'Post' ); } And for the New post method I have this so far: public function add() { if ($this->request->is('post')) { //$this->Post->create(); if ($this->Post->saveAll($this->request->data)) { // Redirect the user to the newly created post (pass the slug for performance) $this->redirect(array('controller'=>'posts','action'=>'view','id'=>$this->Post->id)); } else { $this->Session->setFlash('Server broke!'); } } } As you can see I have used saveAll but how do I go about dealing with the Topic data?

  • jquery live() method on custom functions

    - by user271619
    I have a custom event handler, or I suppose some call it a custom jquery function. My problem is I'm trying to apply the live() method to it. But I'm not too successful. Here's a simple custom jquery function: $.fn.myFunction = function() { return $(this).addClass('changed'); } And here I use it: $('.changePlease').myFunction(); Ok, simple enough. But how do I apply the live() method to it?? I actually have no idea if that's even possible. But I do use live() for other things, like: $(".changePlease").live("click",function(){ alert("hello"); }); Any thoughts on this?

  • Find whether a particular cell of a table has an img tag

    - by SilentPro
    I am generating a table dynamically using Django. The same table template is used to generate a variety of tables depending on the data supplied. In one scenario a particular column contains image tags. Since my table is editable (using jquery) the image cell also becomes editable and removes my content. I want some special behavior on double click of such cells like say upload an image. How do I accomplish this with a jquery? My script for making the table editable is given below. $(function() { $("td").dblclick(function() { var OriginalContent = $(this).text(); $(this).addClass("cellEditing"); $(this).html("<input type='text' value='" + OriginalContent + "' />"); $(this).children().first().focus(); $(this).children().first().keypress(function(e) { if (e.which == 13) { var newContent = $(this).val(); $(this).parent().text(newContent); $(this).parent().removeClass("cellEditing"); } }); $(this).children().first().blur(function() { $(this).parent().text(OriginalContent); $(this).parent().removeClass("cellEditing"); }); }); });

  • How to access widgets created within functions in later function calls in Qt

    - by Inanepenguin
    So currently I have code, in C++, that creates a few QLabels, a QLineEdit, and a QCheckBox when a selection is made from a QComboBox. However, I would like to be able to access the widgets I have created in a later function to destroy them if a new selection is made from the combo box. I am able to access the objects created from using the Designer by doing ui-Object but i am not able to do that with objects created by using my own code. Can I do that some how, because I know how to work with that. In short, I would like to be able to dynamically create/destroy QWidgets based on selections made by the user. Is there a reference I should know of to do this, or any documentation? Or am I just completely going about this the wrong way? Here is the code I presently have for creating the objects: if (eventType == QString::fromStdString("Birthday")) { QLabel *label1 = new QLabel ("Celebrant: "); QLabel *label2 = new QLabel ("Surprise: "); QLineEdit *lineEdit = new QLineEdit; QCheckBox *box = new QCheckBox; ui->gridLayout->addWidget(label1,3,0,1,1, 0); ui->gridLayout->addWidget(label2,4,0,1,1,0); ui->gridLayout->addWidget(lineEdit,3,1,1,1,0); ui->gridLayout->addWidget(box,4,1,1,2,0); }
