i have two pc's on my lan (one with "iis and a public ip) and another with(sql server and lan ip). How i can access to the sql server pc trough iis pc From a pc on the internet?
In my home, all PCs connect through a small router. Some wired and some wireless.
Our Media PC (HTPC) is controlled via a Media Center TV style remote, so managing files on it is tedious.
I can access all of the files on the HTPC from my desktop PC, but moving a 6 GB file from \\HTPC\Folder1 to \\HTPC\Folder2 involves copying the data to the desktop and then transferring it back. If I were on the HTPC, this would likely be handled by a simple address change for the file (i.e. it would be done almost instantly).
I'm thinking if I could get an FTP program to connect to the HTPC, I could simplify things
...but how do I enable that ability on the HPTC?
Then, how would I go about connecting to the HTPC? Would I simply enter \\HTPC as the FTP address?
So yesterday I came home from work and went to turn my computer on....it turned on for about 5 seconds then promptly turned right back off again...before I ever saw anything on the screen. I tried again, same result.
After several attempts, I've found that the length at which it turns on differs. After trying multiple times in a row, it only stays on for about 3 seconds. If I let it rest for a bit it sometimes will stay on for up to a minute (though it never boots, the screen stays black the whole time).
I'm not sure what is causing this issue...I built this computer a little more than 2 years ago and this is the first issue I have ever had with it. I did all the usual checks:
-It's not the power switch
-The capacitors on the motherboard all seem to be in working order
-The PSU seems to be fine as it lights up, fan spins, and will sometimes stay on for about a minute period
My hope is that the thermal paste on the cpu has degraded and just needs to be re-applied. Does that seem like a reasonable assumption?
I'm going to tear the thing apart and do a minimum system build when I get home, but any heads up as to what I should be looking for would be much appreciated.
Any thoughts?
I am installing Visual Studio 2010 on a vista 64 bits machine.
During the install it asked for a restart.
Since that, vista won't load. I tried restore to previous good configuration - didn't help.
I am only able to boot it using safe mode with networking. When I did that, it continued the vista part of the install (the screen with the 3 out of 3 updates) but after that when I restarted again - still fails.
My laptop was stolen by my ex. I need to know how he used my pc to hack all my accounts. I know the tunnel adapter was not used but I blamed him for using it. I need to explain in court exactly what the device is and what it does. Also haven't figured out how he accessed my computer. I disabled the router recently. Can an external modem be hacked? I was told by my server that the modem I.P. address changes randomly every 4 days. Thank you
I'm running WinXP and Firefox 3.6.3. When I do a search, the Google results page removes all the phone numbers from the results. I can see it in source page view. Is there a conflict say from Skype or soem other add on?
When I'm editing some files ( html, css, js ) on UESTUDIO by FTP I'm able to browser folders, create new files on existing folders, but when I create a new folder and try to create a new file it won't allow me to select the "create new file" choice on the menu.
Also, if I uncheck the "Show current directory only" option, then the menu to create folders and files on the current one ( that worked before ) disapears and I'm unable to use it.
Thanks in advance.

Find out what the motherboard on my computer is
I need to find the model of my motherboard so I can find what soundcard/chip it uses so I can get some drivers for it.
Is there anyway to get this from inside XP? I looked through device manager but haven't seen anything that would tell me.
I built the system over a year ago and don't have any receipts to check what it was.
I need a little advise, I need to sync a DB that is currently on a Server 2008(SQL Server 2005) machine and I use Studio Express to connect to it. I need a way of syncing this DB to mysql that lives on a NAS on the same network:
Local: DB Engine on server, named, server\sqlexpress and IP = 10.0.0.201
Target: DB on NAS, named, CISCO-NAS and IP = 10.0.0.182
Will need for this to sync every few mins...
I really don't know how to start.
So here's the problem.
I have a site in IIS that is being redirected from the site's hostname to its IP address. The problem is, I haven't even set up redirects at all for the site; and yet when I analyze the headers that come through as the page loads, I see clear as day, "302 Temporary Redirect".
What could be causing this? I thought perhaps it was something in my application's DB (it's a PHP/MySQL application), but I have ruled that out. I also thought that it might be a rewrite rule somewhere, so I deleted all my rewrite rules as well.
I asked a question over on StackOverflow and was directed to ask a related one here to see if I could get any additional input. Basically, I am looking to have my application aware of what domain it's running under, if any at all. (I want to expose certain debugging facilities only in house, and due to our deployment model it isn't possible to have a different build.)
Since I am over paranoid, I didn't want to just rely on the domain name to ensure we are in house. As such I noted the DOMAIN_CONTROLLER_INFO (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms675912(v=vs.85).aspx
) returned from DsGetDcName (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms675983(v=vs.85).aspx) has a GUID associated with it, however I can find little if any information on it.
I am assuming this GUID is generated at the time the first DC in a domain is created, and that it would live on for the life of the domain. Does anyone else have any inner knowledge and would be kind enough to confirm or deny my assumptions?

First of all which graphics cards support 3 monitors?
Is it possible to buy a graphics card which has 2 outputs and use the onboard (motherboard) graphics output for the third monitor?
(as far as I know you have to toggle between onboard or external graphics usage in the BIOS)

The document has one "Section Break" with e.g. "Text Form Fields" above. To make this Form Field work properly I use "Restrict Editing", allow "Filling in Forms", "Select Sections" and then protect Section 1. Then "Start Enforcing Protection".
Now when the document is protected above the Section Break you can't use CTRL-Aand F9 to make an update of the fields, etc. of the document below the Section Break.
Is there any solution for this problem?
I have checked the "remember password" and every single time, even if it connects correctly after I type a password and check the box, it does not allow subsequent logins using the stored password, saying that it is invalid - is it being saved improperly somehow? is it being disabled by some obscure setting somewhere? (which would be very counter-intuitive, seeing as how the check box is available).
I have tried both with domain and non-domain (local) admin accounts, and am using the FQDN for the server.
edit: as a troubleshooting step, where would one go to find the (hopefully hashed) password?
I have an HP Mini laptop. I can only make resolution setting for my display of 1024x576. The HP Deskjet 6988 driver only allows resolution settings of 800x600. I don't care how 800x600 would look on my laptop, I only want to install the driver for the printer and set it back. I went into the registry, but it was showing a resolution setting of 800x600.
How else can I set the resolution or at least add the option in my Display Properties for 800x600?

I have an HT-Link Cardbus/PCMCIA USB 2.0 2-port card (NEC / 32-bit). My external hard drive w/USB adapter won't work with it, and it will work plugged directly into a USB port on a different laptop. (My USB ports got fried.) I got the card off E-Bay. My MP3 player works plugged into that card. The drivers for the card say "Known limitations: High Speed Isochronus, USB Composite Devices." (No other details provided.) I don't know if the hard drive adapter is "isochronous" or "composite." I've read there are problems with too little power being supplied to the drive. The cable to the drive has two USB plugs on one end, and it doesn't make any difference if I plug both of them into the Cardbus card.
What card should I get? I see many different brands on E-Bay. I need one that supplies sufficient power for an external hard drive, and doesn't have any "known limitations" in the way.

My IBM Thinkpad t60 goes into sleep, or hibernation? and I cannot wake it up, no matter what keys I press. This includes pressing Fn plus F4 ( with the half moon). The only method I've found is to do a hard reset, and this causes other problems. Is there another way?
Thanks for any direction.
My PC keeps reporting the following error in the event viewer around every 10-15 minutes: Faulting application , version 0.0.0.0, faulting module unknown,
version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00000000. Whenever it happens, the XP theme change to classic theme then change back to the normal theme. The network goes down and I must restart PC for the network to come back online. What could be causing this and how do i fix it?
I have two windows, each with a round NSView:
------------------ ------------
|X-+ Oscillator | |X-+ Mixer |
|----------------| |----------|
| | | |
| O | | O |
| | | |
| | | |
------------------ ------------
Both windows are in a seperate NIB. I want to be able to draw a line between the two round NSViews at runtime, using drag'n'drop, just like connecting IBOutlets in Interface Builder:
------------------ ------------
|X-+ Oscillator | |X-+ Mixer |
|----------------| |----------|
| | | |
| O-------+-----+-----O |
| | | |
| | | |
------------------ ------------
I also want to be able to determine to which NSViews the NSViews are connected using the drawn lines. I need this to connect Oscillators to Mixers. I also want to be able to remove the connections by dragging into empty space.
Can anyone explain me how to do this? Thanks.
