  • How do you calculate the offset to the client area in WPF?

    I want to position a modal dialog (progress window) at the top right corner of the parent window client area. This code will put it in the corner of the non-client area, but how do I calculate the offset to the client area? this.Owner=owner; this.Left=owner.Left+owner.ActualWidth-Width; this.Top=owner.Top; Edit: I found this 'solution' that works for normal windows: this.Left=owner.Left+owner.ActualWidth-Width-SystemParameters.ResizeFrameVerticalBorderWidth; this.Top=owner.Top+SystemParameters.ResizeFrameHorizontalBorderHeight+SystemParameters.WindowCaptionHeight; This would however fail for windows that have customized borders. EDIT: The code should work regardless of the systems DPI setting (e.g. 120 instead of 96).

  • Is there a 'RowSpan = "All"' in WPF

    Take for the following for example: <GridSplitter Grid.Row="0" Grid.Column="1" Background="Yellow" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch" VerticalAlignment="Stretch" Width="Auto" Height="Auto" Grid.RowSpan="3" ResizeDirection="Columns etc etc This will create a GridSplitter across the 3 rows that I have in my grid. However, it's conceivable that I might add another row to my grid at a later stage, and I don't really want to go back and have all of my rowspans. My first guess was Grid.RowSpan="*", but that doesn't compile. Does anyone know the answer to this off hand?

  • trouble setting up TreeViews in pygtk

    I've got some code in a class that extends gtk.TreeView, and this is the init method. I want to create a tree view that has 3 columns. A toggle button, a label, and a drop down box that the user can type stuff into. The code below works, except that the toggle button doesn't react to mouse clicks and the label and the ComboEntry aren't drawn. (So I guess you can say it doesn't work).     I am customizing the insert SQL generated by hibernate and have hit an issue. When Hibernate generates the query by itself, it inserts data into the first two columns of the table, but this causes a database error since all four columns of the table are non-nullable. For the insert to be performed properly, it must insert the same data into two columns of the new record. This means that I need Hibernate to bind the same data to two different parameters in the query (prepared statement) that I am writing. Is there some SQL syntax that allows me to refer to anonymous parameters bound to a prepared statement in an order different from which they are bound?   • iPhone SDK: Check validity of URLs with NSURL not working??

    hi, I'm trying to check if a given URL is valid and i'm doing it like this: - (BOOL)urlIsValid:(NSString *)address { NSURL *testURL = [NSURL URLWithString:address]; if (testURL == nil) { return NO; } else { return YES; } } Since "URLWithString" is supposed to return "nil" if the URL is malformed I thought this would work but it doesn't for some reason. Could someone please tell me why? Thanks in advance!

  • Get Python 2.7's 'json' to not throw an exception when it encounters random byte strings

    Trying to encode a a dict object into json using Python 2.7's json (ie: import json). The object has some byte strings in it that are "pickled" data using cPickle, so for json's purposes, they are basically random byte strings. I was using django.utils's simplejson and this worked fine. But I recently switched to Python 2.7 on google app engine and they don't seem to have simplejson available anymore. Now that I am using json, it throws an exception when it encounters bytes that aren't part of UTF-8. The error that I'm getting is: UnicodeDecodeError: 'utf8' codec can't decode byte 0x80 in position 0: invalid start byte It would be nice if it printed out a string of the character codes like the debugging might do, ie: \u0002]q\u0000U\u001201. But I really don't much care how it handles this data just as long as it doesn't throw an exception and continues serializing the information that it does recognize. How can I make this happen? I don't have a regular C compiler, so I can't test this. When we are performing *d++ |= (b & 0x0F);, what order does this occur in?

  • Progressive enhancement of anchor tags to avoid onclick="return false;"

    Unobtrusive JS suggests that we don't have any onclick attributes in our HTML templates. <a href="/controller/foo/1">View Foo 1</a> A most basic progressive enhancement is to convert an that anchor tag to use XHR to retrieve a DOM fragment. So, I write JS to add an event listener for a."click" then make an XHR to a.href. Alas, the browser still wants to navigate to "/controller/foo". So, I write JS to dynamically inject a.onclick = "return false;". Still unobtrusive (I guess), but now I'm paying the the cost of an extra event handler. To avoid the cost of 2 event listeners, I could shove my function call into the onclick attribute <a href="/controller/foo/1" onclick="myXHRFcn(); return false;"> But that's grodo for all sorts of reasons. To make it more interesting, I might have 100 anchor tags that I want to enhance. A better pattern is a single listener on a parent node that relies on event bubbling. That's cool, but how do I short circuit the browser from navigating to the URL without this on every anchor node? onclick="return false;" Manipulating the href is not an option. It must stay intact so the context menu options to copy or open in new page work as expected.

  • Change URL Submitted to Depending on Form Selection

    I have a form which I need to submit to one of three different URLs depending on a selection made in the form. I suspect the easiest solution is to use jQuery to insert the appropriate path before the rest of the form parameters as the selection is made, but not sure on what the code would be. I know it would be a lot easier to incorporate the parameter in the usual way and just use one submission URL root, but unfortunately I'm submitting to an eComms system out of my control and am stuck with having to find a solution to this. Should be easy I think, but not sure where to start, jQuery used elsewhere, so would prefer to use this framework in any solutions.

  • Where to place interactive objects in JavaScript?

    I'm creating a web based application (i.e. JavaScript with jQuery and lots of SVG) where the user interacts with "objects" on the screen (think of DIVs that can be draged around, resized and connected by arraows - like a vector drawing programm or a graphical programming language). As each "object" contains individual information but is allways belonging to a "class" of elements it's obvious that this application should be programmed by using an OOP approach. But where do I store the "objects" best? Should I create a global structure ("registry") with all (JS native) objects and tell them "draw yourself on the DOM"? Or should I avoid such a structure and think of the (relevant) DOM nodes as my objects and attach the relevant data as .data() to them? The first approach is very MVC - but I guess the attachment of all the event handlers will be non trivial. The second approach will handle the events in a trivial way and it doesn't create a duplicate structure, but I guess the usual OO stuff (like methods) will be more complex. What do you recomend? I think the answer will be JavaScript and SVG specific as "usual" programming languages don't have such a highly organized output "canvas".

  • Save list of CGPoints using NSUserDefaults

    I have a bunch of CGPoints from a CCTMXLayer I want to save to NSUserDefaults but cannot seem to figure out an elegant way of doing so. Originally I was hoping to save an NSDictionary with an NSMutableSet for a value containing several NSValues (valueWithCGPoint). From what I can tell neither NSMutableSet or NSValue is supported by NSUserDefaults. At this point I am considering saving the x&y values of the CGPoint as a string and just converting it back and forth as needed.

  • Representing parent-child relationships in SharePoint lists

    I need to create some functionality in our SharePoint app that populates a list or lists with some simple hierarchical data. Each parent record will represent a "submission" and each child record will be a "submission item." There's a 1-to-n relationship between submissions and submission items. Is this practical to do in SharePoint? The only types of list relationships I've done so far are lookup columns, but this seems a bit different. Also, once such a list relationship is established, then what's the best way to create views on this kind of data. I'm almost convinced that it'd be easier just to write this stuff to an external database, but I'd like to give SharePoint a shot in order to take advantage of the automated search capabilities.

  • How to get dataset to populate data into dbgrid in Delphi 6?

    I have created a DBGrid in Delphi 6 and tied it to a DataSource contained in a DataModule. The Dataset for that source in also located in the same module. In the OnShow event for the form, I activate the dataset and set a label equal to the rowcount for the dataset. This shows several hundred rows but nothing shows in the dbgrid. If I activate the dataset in the IDE, the grid populates with the expected data. Does anyone have any idea why this behaviour would change between the IDE and normal runtime? We are also using SDAC connection components. All 3rd party component choices are not mine to change. I can elaborate as necessary for clarification, but I mainly need troubleshooting ideas to start at.

  • Preventing a child process (HandbrakeCLI) from causing the parent script to exit

    I have a batch conversion script to turn .mkvs of various dimensions into ipod/iphone sized .mp4s, cropping/scaling to suit. Determining the original dimensions, required crop, output file is all working fine. However, on successful completion of the first conversion, HandbrakeCLI causes the parent script to exit.     Each logfile is titled based on the date it was created in the format YYYY-MM-DD.txt. I need to search each file for five different keywords and output five files prepended with the specific keyword and then the original logfile name. Example: Test-YYYY-MM-DD.txt grep -i -w 'keyword1' YYYY-MM-DD.txt Keyword1-YYYY-MM-DD.txt If it's also possible to email each new file to a different person, that would be helpful as well.

  • How to configure multiple mappings using FluentHibernate?

    First time rocking it with NHibernate/Fluent so apologies in advance if this is a naive question. I have a set of Models I want to map. When I create my session factory I'm trying to do all mappings at once. I am not using auto-mapping (though I may if what I am trying to do ends up being more painful than it ought to be). The problem I am running into is that it seems only the top map is taking. Given the code snippet below and running a unit test that attempts to save 'bar', it fails and checking the logs I see NHibernate is trying to save a bar entity to the foo table. While I suspect it's my mappings it could be something else that I am simply overlooking.     I have been using uniplate and SYB and I am trying to transform a list For instance type Tree = [DataA] data DataA = DataA1 [DataB] | DataA2 String | DataA3 String [DataA] deriving Show data DataB = DataB1 [DataA] | DataB2 String | DataB3 String [DataB] deriving Show For instance, I would like to traverse my tree and append a value to all [DataB] So my first thought was to do this: changeDataB:: Tree -> Tree changeDataB = everywhere(mkT changeDataB') chanegDataB'::[DataB] -> [DataB] changeDataB' <add changes here> or if I was using uniplate changeDataB:: Tree -> Tree changeDataB = transformBi changeDataB' chanegDataB'::[DataB] -> [DataB] changeDataB' <add changes here> The problem is that I only want to search on the full list. Doing either of these searches will cause a search on the full list and all of the sub-lists (including the empty list) The other problem is that a value in [DataB] may generate a [DataB], so I don't know if this is the same kind of solution as not searching chars in a string. I could pattern match on DataA1 and DataB3, but in my real application there are a bunch of [DataB]. Pattern matching on the parents would be extensive. The other thought that I had was to create a data DataBs = [DataB] and use that to transform on. That seems kind of lame, there must be a better solution.

  • Using gprof with sockets

    I have a program I want to profile with gprof. The problem (seemingly) is that it uses sockets. So I get things like this: ::select(): Interrupted system call I hit this problem a while back, gave up, and moved on. But I would really like to be able to profile my code, using gprof if possible. What can I do? Is there a gprof option I'm missing? A socket option? Is gprof totally useless in the presence of these types of system calls? If so, is there a viable alternative? EDIT: Platform: Linux 2.6 (x64) GCC 4.4.1 gprof 2.19

  • Will Visual Studio 2010 support HTML 5?

    Since Visual Studio 2010 is slated for release in March of 2010 and HTML 5 is now starting to be used even more widely, I would like to know if Visual Studio will ship with HTML 5 templates, standard controls and support for the more common markup? A definition for support of HTML 5 would be that any new version of Visual Studio should have similar support for code-completion, validation and markup that is currently supported for HTML 4.01 and XHTML 1.0 and 1.1. Update From the Visual Web Develolper Team Blog: HTML 5 intellisense and validation schema for Visual Studio 2008 and Visual Web Developer is for downloading. Follow the instructions posted on the page to install the new scheme. Seems like the Visual Studio Team will be supporting HTML 5 after all.

  • Folder Renaming After Tar Extraction

    I have an tarball, myarchive.tar.gz. When I uncompress it using "tar -zxvf myarchive.tar.gz", it creates a folder myarchive-x980-2303-ssioo. What's the easiest way to automatically rename the extracted folder to ensure it matches the name of the archive? I've checked tar's manpage, but it doesn't seem to have an option for this.
