    My end goal is to be able to use the spring message tag with configured messageSource on a legacy app using a model-1 architecture.   • Google search question, front page not showing...

    I know this is probably a dumb question but I hope someone can give me some insight; I was ranked on Google first page of search results for "funny st patricks day shirts" but I was third from the bottom and not familiar enough with SEO, so I signed up for "Attracta" to rank higher. Big mistake. Since using Attracta, I've lost the first page and I'm now on the fourth page in that search. What I noticed is that Google is now just showing a sub-page or side page, (a link from my front page, to a page which has only a few designs in it) this is not where I would want customers to land first... but my front page is not showing in that search anymore. Obviously, the title of this side page is not geared toward that search result, so I know that's why I have the pr drop. Why is my front page not ranking over that page, though? Why is it apparently gone from that search, or so far back no one will ever find it? I need to know how to fix this quick if anyone has any advice at all for me. It's the busiest season for my website and the people who were stealing design ideas from me are all ranked higher than my site now. (I can prove this, lol) So, I'm very frustrated by that. But there are so many services (S3, EC2, etc etc), I cant figure out which service is for web hosting, which service is for what use, their docs is so huge, I am confused, what to read. can anybody write some good points, about which service to use specifically for Java apps, how much I will be charged, and they ask for credit/debit card credential for signup, does it mean they will debit me even in the free period?

  • Schema-less design guidelines for Google App Engine Datastore and other NoSQL DBs

    Coming from a relational database background, as I'm sure many others are, I'm looking for some solid guidelines for setting up / designing my datastore on Google App Engine. Are there any good rules of thumb people have for setting up these kinds of schema-less data stores? I understand some of the basics such as denormalizing since you can't do joins, but I was wondering what other recommendations people had. The particular simple example I am working with concerns storing searches and their results. For example I have the following 2 models defined in my Google App Engine app using Python: class Search(db.Model): who = db.StringProperty() what = db.StringProperty() where = db.StringProperty() createDate = db.DateTimeProperty(auto_now_add=True) class SearchResult(db.Model): title = db.StringProperty() content = db.StringProperty() who = db.StringProperty() what = db.StringProperty() where = db.StringProperty() createDate = db.DateTimeProperty(auto_now_add=True) I'm duplicating a bunch of properties between the models for the sake of denormalization since I can't join Search and SearchResult together. Does this make sense? Or should I store a search ID in the SearchResult model and effectively 'join' the 2 models in code when I retrieve them from the datastore? Please keep in mind that this is a simple example. Both models will have a lot more properties and the way I'm approaching this right now, I would put any property I put in the Search model in the SearchResult model as well.

  • Implementation of instance testing in Java, C++, C#

    For curiosity purposes as well as understanding what they entail in a program, I'm curious as to how instance testing (instanceof/is/using dynamic_cast in c++) works. I've tried to google it (particularly for java) but the only pages that come up are tutorials on how to use the operator. How do the implementations vary across those langauges? How do they treat classes with identical signatures? Also, it's been drilled into my head that using instance testing is a mark of bad design. Why exactly is this? When is that applicable, instanceof should still be used in methods like .equals() and such right? I was also thinking of this in the context of exception handling, again particularly in Java. When you have mutliple catch statements, how does that work? Is that instance testing or is it just resolved during compilation where each thrown exception would go to?

    I am looking for some resources on the JVM bytecode. Ideally I would for a short book; something more than a blog post but not a 800 pages tome. If it is relevant, I am a Scala developer, not a Java one, although I know Java just fine. I would like something that allowed me to read JVM bytecode and answer questions such as: Why does the bytecode has to know about high level construct such as classes? Are subtyping relations still visible in bytecode? How does type erasure work exactly? How do Oracle and Dalvik bytecode differ, and what consequences does this have for, say, developing Android apps with Scala? How does the JVM manage the stack, and why exactly this creates issues with tail call elimination? and so on.

  • Wordpress Multisite and Google Analytics in subfolders with mapped domains

    I have a wordpress multisite with sub folders. The site's subfolders are mapped to domains, which are set to primary. I'm using the 'Google Analytics Multisite Async' code to track things. From what I can see it's tracking the sites fine (getting page hits for each site in google analytics) baring the original site in the Multisite which in content overview lists domains then the amount of traffic it's getting along with the orginal domains traffic. I don't want to track any other traffic for my orginal site than what goes to that. i.e. I don't want it tracking my other sites in multi-site. e.g. domain1.com is my orginal and I have lots of other sites in the multisite lets say domain2.com, domain3.com. In content overview in Analytics it's listing say domain2.com as content. Can I tell it to filter these out some how either in Analytics or within WordPress? Hopefully explained that clearly!

  • Anonymouse VS Logged in users on my site & Google Analytics

    I'd like to be able to run two different 'tracks' for Google Analytics; One for anonymous users of the site and another for Users whom are logged-in. I say "track" because Im not sure of the term--but I definitely know I want it to all be in the same "Analytics Account", I just want to segregate my logged-in users... In the site template, I can very easily add a conditional to display one or the other (Analytics code snippet)... Which Im hoping this comes down to and although Im not sure, it seems that the last digit in your Analytics ID (e.g. UA-15XXXX0-X) could be incremented to gain such additional 'tracks'....? Any tips? On the site you can see that I had to actually remove the above from here, here, and here while left it here, here, here and here. This is so because the the web site "refuses" to load at all with the pages that have the code (i.e., from this region.) If I use Firefox Stealthy Plugin and open the site in Firefox, It works like a charm without any problems. But with Google Chrome, Apple Safari and Opera Web browser, the site does not load/open at all because of the Google translate. (I know this because If I remove the Google Translate Code, the site works/loads fine) It was one thing to program for "cross browser compatability" and alltogether another to program for "cross region compatability". What can I do to make sure that the site works from anywhere? Do I completely remove the Google Translate code and just have to do without the additional functionality or Do I look for alternatives like this or according to this?

  • Insane SmartGWT + GWT situation... Error on instantiating ListGridRecord?

    Hi all, I am asking this here in the hope that someone has maybe come across this situation too... I have posted this on the SmartGWT forum: I am having an issue when trying to instantiate a ListGridRecord object on my server side. I am using the ListGrid on the client side, I want to use GWT's RPC to pass back an array of ListGridRecord objects to populate the grid with. I know that SmartGWT is designed to link to a datasource but I want full control over when I populate the grid and this shouldn't be as much of a nightmare as it is to do. I have searched high and low and cannot find anyone complaining about the same thing. The exception however (listed below) has come up (in my search findings) as a possible memory error - where increasing the memory (-Xmx512m argument) has apparently solved the problem. It did not, however, sort out mine. If anyone can shed any light on this I would greatly appreciate it! Here are my details: Developing using Eclipse Galileo on Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty) and GWT 2.0.3, I built the initial GWT project using the webAppCreator bundled with the GWT 2.0.3 release and imported the project into Eclipse as described on the GWT Getting Started Page (as using the GWT Eclipse plugin caused even more nightmares when trying to connect to a database - this is apparently due to using the Google App Engine and turning it off as all the posts suggested only causes ClassNotFound exceptions).   • How to get started in coding for JBoss

    I have an idea on how to revamp our internal application, after having accessed the needs of the users, addressing thier current issues, and the like. But I am not a coder. My last application I wrote was in college, in C, (java wasn't invented-ish!) and it was a booking system, with the option to add on other modules, blah blah. I got an A, but I became a system administrator instead, more intrested in designing and maintainend networks and infrastructure, but with the advent of virtualisation, and linux management tools such as puppet I can now manage infrastructure in my sleep! Now I want to write code - to put on my infastructure, and I want to build .... a booking system! This is just to get experience, but I am at a loss as to where to start. Setting up the environment, will take me about a day. Writing the spec, even how I want it to work, I already know, but as for actually coding in a decent manner, I can only guess. If anyone can recommend a book, website, blog, twitter person to follow, or just advice on how to build a kick butt basic jboss app, then please, "I AM READY TO LEARN" :)

    I am probably missing something obvious, but I do not understand when I query: start.date = DATE_START, end.date = DATE_END, dimensions = c("ga:pagePath","ga:previousPagePath"), metrics = c("ga:pageviews"), filters = mypageofinterest, table.id = "ga:mytable", max.results=RESULTS my data return as expected, all of the previous pages including (entrance). However, when I modify the code to be nextPagePath start.date = DATE_START, end.date = DATE_END, dimensions = c("ga:pagePath","ga:nextPagePath"), metrics = c("ga:pageviews"), filters = mypageofinterest, table.id = "ga:mytable", max.results=RESULTS only one line of data are returned; the pagepath and nextpagepath are identical with itself. I replicated this result using the Query Explorer. What am I missing or doing wrong? I was expecting to see a large number of "next" pages, including (exit). Thanks in advance.

I am quite inexperienced in the field of Java but I have researched into it and learned that it is perhaps my best bet in creating this project is Java for the fact that it has a much easier learning curve than C++ to beginners and still capable of holding massive amounts of players at a time. My question is simple: Should I start the game by creating a single player prototype and introducing multiplayer later as I become more experienced or start with multiplayer before I am completely experienced in the field.
