  • SQL query using information from 4 tables (not all directly linked)

    I'm developing a simple classroom system, where teachers manage classes and their subjects. I have 2 levels of access in my teachers table, assigned by an integer (1 = admin, 2 = user)... Meaning that the headteacher is the admin :) A teacher (of level 1) can have have many classes and a class can have many teachers (so I have 'TeachersClasses' table). A class can have many subjects, and a teacher can have many subjects. Basically, I'm attempting a query to display the admin teacher's (level 1) subjects. However, only teachers with a level of 2, are directly related to a subject, which is set by the admin user. The headteacher can view all of their subjects via the classroom, but I cannot get all of the subjects to be displayed on one page, instead I can only get the subjects to appear under a specific classroom right now... This is what I have so far, which is returning nothing. When request are valid all is fine and the response is wellformed, but when the request is invalid (cause a invalid signature, failed check, or soapexception thrown), the web server isn't able to process the response to send to the client. The error in application event log is: An error occured processing an outgoing fault response.     What is the best way to survey and detect bad users behavior or attacks like deny of services or exploits on my web app ? I know server's statistics (like Awstats) are very useful for that kind of purpose, specially to see 3XX, 4XX and 5XX errors (here's an Awstats example page) which are often bots or bad intentioned users that try well-known bad or malformed URLs. Is there others (and betters) ways to analyze and detect that kind of attack tentative ? Note : I'm speaking about URL based attacks, not attacks on server's component (like database or TCP/IP).

  • How to add a Web Reference to a SSL web service?

    Hi, I have a web service in a C#/3.5 project which has been running fine. This is until I set the "SSL port" in IIS to 443 and set the "IIS - Directory Security - Secure Communications - Require secure channel (SSL)" option to true. Now, the web reference cannot be updated and I cannot add a new web reference to the web service in that site. When I try to view the service in a browse using just HTTP I get the "This page must be viewed over a secure channel" and when viewed with HTTPS on the front I get "This web page not available." Could someone tell me how to get a Web Reference added using Visual Studio to this secure web service, please? Thanks, Matt.

    Hi, I need to programmatically override the following events of a worksheet: BeforeDoubleClick SelectionChange BeforeRightClick I have been able to override the OnActivate event using the following code: sheet.OnSheetActivate = "MyOwn_Activate" Private Sub MyOwn_Activate() myForm.Show End Sub I have implemented BeforeDoubleClick on similar lines: sheet.OnDoubleClick = "My_BeforeDoubleClick" Private Sub My_BeforeDoubleClick(ByVal Target As Range, Cancel As Boolean) ... End Sub However, an 'argument not optional' error is thrown at run-time when user double clicks a cell on the sheet. Can someone please suggest how should I pass the paramters? In addition, I am not able to find event names for SelectionChange & BeforeRightClick. I tried: sheet.BeforeRightClick = "My_BeforeRightClick" sheet.SelectionChange = "My_SelectionChange" But, both the above lines do not work. Any help/ suggestion is greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

    I have a macro enabled work book and i change the name of the .xlsm file to [FileName].xlsm.zip and then i unzip i get some folders I then put these extracted folders in to another folder and zip it back and rechange the extension to the previous xlsm format i now try and open but i get an unreadable error. I am not changing any content here just extracting and zip it back. What could be the problem?

    Hi, I've been working out this query now for a while and I thought I had it where I wanted it, but apparently not. There are two records in the database (orders). The query should return two different rows, but instead returns two rows that have exactly the same values. I think it may be something to do with the GROUP BY or derived tables I'm using but my eyes are tired and not seeing the problem. Can any of you help? Thanks in advance.   • What considerations should be made for a web app to be released on a cloud hosted system?

    I have a web app that is primarily a WordPress app, but it pulls content from a Django app, simply by calling a service that uses Django models. My understanding of cloud computing is a bit vague. If the site needs to scale up with short notice, does the cloud provider (Amazon, Rackspace, whomever) simply spin up new instances (copies) of my initially configured server? How is state managed between all of them? Are there any good primers on this subject? It's hard to find much out there without getting caught up in the marketing.

  • Avoiding secondary selects or joins with Hibernate Criteria or HQL query

    I am having trouble optimizing Hibernate queries to avoid performing joins or secondary selects. When a Hibernate query is performed (criteria or hql), such as the following: return getSession().createQuery(("from GiftCard as card where card.recipientNotificationRequested=1").list(); ... and the where clause examines properties that do not require any joins with other tables... but Hibernate still performs a full join with other tables (or secondary selects depending on how I set the fetchMode). The object in question (GiftCard) has a couple ManyToOne associations that I would prefer to be lazily loaded in this case (but not necessarily all cases). I want a solution that I can control what is lazily loaded when I perform the query.   • Clean up domain list in Excel - regex / macros?

    I have a huge spreadsheet of domains that I need to clean up as follows: Remove all http:// (simple replace all - "http://" with "") Remove any www. (simple replace all - "www." with "") Delete any sub-domains (delete the actual row completely, not just the subdomain from the url) Remove anything after the domain extension (i.e. website.com/blah/blahbah/ becomes just website.com (simple replace all - "/*" with "", then replace all "/" with "") So what I'm left with is just a spreadsheet of clean domains like "website.com". I think I've got 1, 2 and 4 sorted (as above), but I'm really struggling with 3. Any ideas? Can I do this with regexp / vba, and actually delete the row completely? Sample data: http://www.scholastic.com/kids/stacks/games/ http://imgworld.teamworkonline.com/ http://topfreegraphics.com/ http://www.workcircle.co.uk/ http://www.healthycanadians.gc.ca/index-eng.php http://gsociology.icaap.org/methods/soft.html Post 1, 2 and 4 would leave me with: scholastic.com imgworld.teamworkonline.com topfreegraphics.com workcircle.co.uk healthycanadians.gc.ca gsociology.icaap.org It's those pesky sub-domains I need to just delete completely, just delete the row. I've realised I can't just search for 2 x ".", because obviously plenty of domain extensions (i.e .co.uk) include that. Any help appreciated.

    Hello everybody! Today, I've started with Yahoo Query Language. I would use it to retrive stocks details, so I'm talking about Yahoo Finance. I think there is a bug on this language. This is my query: select * from yahoo.finance.quoteslist where symbol='@^GSPC' I ALWAYS get 51 results! it's impossible, take a look at: http://it.finance.yahoo.com/q/cp?s=^GSPC There are 500 results!     Hello, We are at a stage where we are considering different Web UI frameworks (most likely component based ones such as GWT, JSF, Wicket, Vaadin, etc). One of the main use cases / constraints is that it must support generating dynamic pages. I.e., the page/form layout and components is stored in a database and is changeable at runtime, and from this pages are generated. We are also going to write static layouts, but that is not the main focus of this question. I thought maybe the user community here can share experiences of different frameworks in this context. Are there differences in ease of implementation and what is suitable?
