  • Are incremental Macro definition possible?

    - by Davorak
I often find the following type of incremental definition useful: (define (foo) (display "bar")) (foo) ;prints bar (define foo (let ((bar foo)) (lambda () (display "foo") (bar)))) (foo) ;prints foobar How do I preform this type of incremental definition with macros? I could not get let-syntax to provide the same functionality. Currently I use plt scheme, but would like to see answers in different lisp implementations as well.

  • Which browser versions do YouTube and Google Apps support?

    - by Alex
Hi. We're building a site and wish to build for the same set of browsers Google Apps/Docs and YouTube support. Though not recommended, they seem to be detecting specific browsers/versions vs. features/functionality. What's the best way to support a minimum set of browsers while displaying a message to the users of older browsers to upgrade? What's the minimum set of browsers that the major sites are supporting? Thanks.

  • SQLInForm.com like plug-in for SQL Server 2008

    - by Vishal Seth
Is there a plug-in like the java applet @ SQLinForm.com for MS SQL Server Management Studio 2008? I tried SSMS tools based on someone's answer to my previous question but I don't find any functionality to format (beautify/tabify) SQL. If somebody could please point out that in SSMS tools or suggest some other tool (preferably free) Thanks :)

  • Is Unit Testing worth the effort?

    - by The Talking Walnut
I am working to integrate unit testing into the development process on the team I work on and there are some skeptics. What are some good ways to convince the skeptical developers on the team of the value of Unit Testing? In my specific case we would be adding Unit Tests as we add functionality or fixed bugs. Unfortunately our code base does not lend itself to easy testing.

  • Silverlight Watermarked AutoComplete Box

    - by Steve Brouillard
Can someone direct me to an example or explanation that will help me either: Extend the SilverLight AutoComplete Box to allow watermarks. Extend the Watermark TextBox to allow AutoComplete functionality. It strikes me that option 1 would be easiest, but I'm open. Thanks in advance.

  • Need advice with a model - should I choose has_many through

    - by Martin Petrov
I have something like a blog with posts and tags. I want to add email notification functionality - users can subscribe to one or more tags and receive email notifications when new posts are added. Currently I have a Tag model. There will be a Subscriber model (containing the user's email) Do you think I also need a Subscription table where Subscriber and Tag are joined? .. or I can skip it and directly link Subscriber with Tag?

  • struts2, code completion in jsp

    - by bobbyquinne1
Hi there, I have done some work with JSF(using netbeans as the IDE) and within your jsp/xhtml file you get code on beans/resource bundles that your have defined. ATM I am investigating struts2 and seem to be unable to get similar functionality in the IDE. Is this just the case with the IDE or do I need to define something? Thanks

  • Simple WCF service with REST - Resource cannot be found - error with ASP.NET Debug Server?

    - by lesasch
Hi, I'm testing a very simple WCF-Service with REST functionality enabled. It works fine on IIS, but the VS2010 debug webserver always says "The resource cannot be found" when appending the parameter after the .svc file in the browser uri. Is this a known issue with the asp.net debug webserver that it cannot work with REST or am I doing anything wrong? (again: with IIS, it works)

  • What Patterns Should I Consider For a Html Widget Generator?

    - by DaveDev
I'm looking to see if I can design a HtmlHelper extension method that will generate the Html for different types of widgets I want to produce. Each different type of widget implements functionality to get and prepare any data it needs to render. Can anyone suggest any patterns I could refer to for approaches to take? I know there are probably frameworks available that will do this for me, but I thought I'd give it a try anyway. Any points of advice? Thanks

  • Editing a table like iPhone Mail

    - by user217572
The iPhone Mail application has an edit button in the navigation bar. Tapping that button shows a delete button in the toolbar and shows checkbox controls in the table cells. Tapping one or more checkboxes then tapping the delete button causes the checked messages to be deleted. How can I add similar functionality to my own code? Here's a screenshot of the effect I'm looking for:

  • OpenID Attribute Exchange - should I use it?

    - by Josh
My website will be using only OpenID for authentication. I'd like to pull user details down via attribute exchange, but attribute exchange seems to have caused a lot of grief for StackOverflow. What is the current state of play in the industry? Does any OpenID provider do a decent job of attribute exchange? Should I just steer away from OpenID attribute exchange altogether? How can I deal with inconsistent support for functionality?

  • What is the best way to manage Time in a Java application?

    - by DanielHonig
So I'm using hibernate and working with an application that manages time. What is the best way to deal with times in a 24 hour clock? I do not need to worry about TimeZone issues at the beginning of this application but it would be best to ensure that this functionality is built in at the beginning. I'm using hibernate as well, just as an fyi

  • Is there a .Net library similar to GNU readline?

    - by paul.moore.name
I'm considering writing a console application in C# and I want to incorporate history, completion and command line editing features something like GNU readline (but not necessarily as extensive as that!) Is there an existing library for .net which provides this type of functionality? I guess one option would be to use interop services to call GNU readline. But is there a native option?

  • jquery drag and drop animation

    - by Cameron
I have some UI functionality for drag and drop, but when an element is dropped, the animation makes it flit about all over the place for a split second before it appears in the newly dropped location. Can anyone advise how to tackle this, so that the draggable element moves more cleanly into place on success? ... success : function() { $(ui.draggable) .parent().droppable("option", "disabled", false) .end() .appendTo(droppable) .droppable("option", "disabled", true); }, ...
