  • Group Chat XMPP with Google App Engine

    - by David Shellabarger
Google App Engine has a great XMPP service built in. One of the few limitations it has is that it doesn't support receiving messages from a group chat. That's the one thing I want to do with it. :( Can I run a 3rd party XMPP/Jabber server on App Engine that supports group chat? If so, which one?

  • How do I configure logging for a grails plugin ?

    - by Philippe
Hello, I'm creating my first grails plugin and I don't know where the logging should be configured. In a normal grails app, there is a conf/Config.groovy file for that, but for a plugin there is none. Is there another way to achieve this ? I would like to see debug messages when I launch my plugin unit and integration tests... Thanks in advance. Philippe

  • PHP XSS Prevention WhiteListing

    - by pws5068
My site utilizes a WYSIWYG editor for users to update their accounts, enter comments, and send private messages. The editor (CKEditor) is great for only allowing users to enter valid input, but I worry about injection through TamperData or other means. How can I control this on the server side? I need to whitelist specific tags: <b><ul><ol><a><img><br>, will this be a SAFE approach to preventing XSS?

  • Javascript, language files, configuration

    - by johnnyArt
I'm building a form validation script for one of my sites, and I thought I'd make the error messages international, meaning that depending on the users language I'd give such or such response. What would the best approach be, for loading a configuration file inside of my class? Right now I'm using the following structure for a single language: const config = { 'errorName' : 'error message', 'errorName2' : 'error message', 'errorName2' : 'error message' } And calling it like this of course: config['errorName']. But I don't know how to load those variables from a file, let's say 'lang/en.js'

  • Why is cell phone software still so primitive?

    - by Tomislav Nakic-Alfirevic
I don't do mobile development, but it strikes me as odd that features like this aren't available by default on most phones: full text search: searches all address book contents, messages, anything else being a plus better call management: e.g. a rotating audio call log, meaning you always have the last N calls recorded for your listening pleasure later (your little girl just said her first "da-da" while you were on a business trip, you had a telephone job interview, you received complex instructions to do something etc.) bluetooth remote control (like e.g. anyRemote, but available by default on a bluetooth phone) no multitasking capabilities worth mentioning and in general no e.g. weekly software updates, making the phone much more usable (even if it had to be done over USB, rather than over the network). I'm sure I was dumbfounded by the lack or design of other features as well, but they don't come to mind right now. To clarify, I'm not talking about smartphones here: my plain, 2-year old phone has a CPU an order of magnitude faster than my first PC, about as much storage space and it's ridiculous how bad (slow, unwieldy) the software is and it's not one phone or one manufacturer. What keeps the (to me) obvious software functionality vacuum on a capable hardware platform from being filled up? Edit: I believe a clarification on the multitasking point might be beneficial. I'll use my phone as an example, although the point is much more general. The phone can multitask and in fact does: you can listen to music and do something else at the same time. On the other hand, the way the software has been designed makes multitasking next to useless. (Ditto with the external touch screen: it can take touch commands, but only one application makes use of it, and only with 3 commands.) To take the multitasking example to the extreme, if I plug my phone into my laptop and it registers as an external disk, it doesn't allow any kind of operation: messages, calling, calendar, everything out of reach, although I can receive a call. No "battery life" issue there: it's charging while connected. BTW, another example of design below the current state of the art: I don't see a phone on the horizon which will remember where in an audio or video file you were when you stopped listening/watching it last time (podcasts are a good use case). Simplistic rewind/fast forward functionality only aggravates the problem.

  • "Emulating" Application.Run using Application.DoEvents

    - by Luca
I'm getting in trouble. I'm trying to emulate the call Application.Run using Application.DoEvents... this sounds bad, and then I accept also alternative solutions to my question... I have to handle a message pump like Application.Run does, but I need to execute code before and after the message handling. Here is the main significant snippet of code. // Create barrier (multiple kernels synchronization) sKernelBarrier = new KernelBarrier(sKernels.Count); foreach (RenderKernel k in sKernels) { // Create rendering contexts (one for each kernel) k.CreateRenderContext(); // Start render kernel kernels k.mThread = new Thread(RenderKernelMain); k.mThread.Start(k); } while (sKernelBarrier.KernelCount > 0) { // Wait untill all kernel loops has finished sKernelBarrier.WaitKernelBarrier(); // Do application events Application.DoEvents(); // Execute shared context services foreach (RenderKernelContextService s in sContextServices) s.Execute(sSharedContext); // Next kernel render loop sKernelBarrier.ReleaseKernelBarrier(); } This snippet of code is execute by the Main routine. Pratically I have a list of Kernel classes, which runs in separate threads, these threads handle a Form for rendering in OpenGL. I need to synchronize all the Kernel threads using a barrier, and this work perfectly. Of course, I need to handle Form messages in the main thread (Main routine), for every Form created, and indeed I call Application.DoEvents() to do the job. Now I have to modify the snippet above to have a common Form (simple dialog box) without consuming the 100% of CPU calling Application.DoEvents(), as Application.Run does. The goal should be to have the snippet above handle messages when arrives, and issue a rendering (releasing the barrier) only when necessary, without trying to get the maximum FPS; there should be the possibility to switch to a strict loop to render as much as possible. How could it be possible? Note: the snippet above must be executed in the Main routine, since the OpenGL context is created on the main thread. Moving the snippet in a separated thread and calling Application.Run is quite unstable and buggy...

  • Multiple subscribers in NServiceBus

    - by Johan Zell
Hi. I'm getting started with NServiceBus and have a question about the Pubsub sample. My intention was to have multiple instances of Publisher1 running and receiving the message sent from the publisher. I also hacked the Publisher to only send messages of the eventMessage type. But if I start the publisher and three instances of Subscriber1, only one of them gets the message at a time. why is that? Is it a config setting or something else? /J

Hi, I'd like to write some messages to the server. Each time, for the tramsmitting only, I'm closing the outputStream and reopen it when I have to send the next message. os.write(msgBytes); os.write("\r\n".getBytes()); os.flush(); os.close(); How Can I keep this Socket's OutputStream, os, open and still be able to send the message? Thanks.

    - by Daveo
    I want to have site wide default settings for all jQuery validation uses on my site, I want every form to use the below settings, but then on a per form basis change the rules and messages. Is this possible? $('#myForm').validate({ errorClass: 'field-validation-error', errorElement: 'span', errorPlacement: function(error, element) { element.next('span').remove(); error.insertAfter( element ) .removeClass('field-validation-error') .addClass('ui-state-error'); }, success: function(label) { label.remove(); } });

  • WCF : FaultContract(typeof(ExceptionDetail)) issue

I have put the attribute [FaultContract(typeof(ExceptionDetail))] for my operation contract. Please check other error and warning messages for details." But when I comment out the FaultContract Attribute, I am able to add the wcf service reference th' my client app. Would appreciate if somebody can help me solve this mystery. Thanks

  • Cleanest way to build an SQL string in Java

    - by Vidar
I want to build an SQL string to do database manipulation (updates, deletes, inserts, selects, that sort of thing) - instead of the awful string concat method using millions of "+"'s and quotes which is unreadable at best - there must be a better way. I did think of using MessageFormat - but its supposed to be used for user messages, although I think it would do a reasonable job - but I guess there should be something more aligned to SQL type operations in the java sql libraries. Would Groovy be any good? Any help much appreciated.

  • Un-enlisting a BizTalk MSMQ send port in batch file

    - by SteveC
I've got a solution which I setup / cleanup using batch files ... - there are a pair of MSMQ ports, send and receive, with another application on the end of the queues I'm finding I can't properly stop the orchestration in the batch file ... the error is the send port is unenlisted - I'm using the StopOrch.vbs script from the SDK samples But I can go into BizTalk Admin Console and manually stop the orchestration with Full Terminate Ok The setup / cleanup works Ok if I don't actually push any messages down the MSMQ queues

  • Regular expression for bounce email message

    - by Ryan
I am looking for a regular expression (or other method if there is such a thing) for detecting bounce email messages. So far I have been going through our unattended mail box and adding strings that I find into a regex. I figured someone would have something that is already complete rather than me re-inventing the wheel. Here is an example of what I have so far: /reason: 550|permanent fatal errors|Error 550|Action: Failed|Mailbox does not exist|Delivery to the following recipients failed/i

  • How can I make my Perl Jabber bot an event-driven program?

    - by TheGNUGuy
    I'm trying to make a Jabber bot and I am having trouble keeping it running while waiting for messages. How do I get my script to continuously run? I have tried calling a subroutine that has a while loop that I, in theory, have set up to check for any messages and react accordingly but my script isn't behaving that way. Here is my source: http://pastebin.com/03Habbvh # set jabber bot callbacks $jabberBot-SetMessageCallBacks(chat=\&chat); $jabberBot-SetPresenceCallBacks(available=\&welcome,unavailable=\&killBot); $jabberBot-SetCallBacks(receive=\&prnt,iq=\&gotIQ); $jabberBot-PresenceSend(type="available"); $jabberBot-Process(1); sub welcome { print "Welcome!\n"; $jabberBot-MessageSend(to=$jbrBoss-GetJID(),subject="",body="Hello There!",type="chat",priority=10); &keepItGoing; } sub prnt { print $_[1]."\n"; } #$jabberBot-MessageSend(to=$jbrBoss-GetJID(),subject="",body="Hello There! Global...",type="chat",priority=10); #$jabberBot-Process(5); #&keepItGoing; sub chat { my ($sessionID,$msg) = @_; $dump-pl2xml($msg); if($msg-GetType() ne 'get' && $msg-GetType() ne 'set' && $msg-GetType() ne '') { my $jbrCmd = &trimSpaces($msg-GetBody()); my $dbQry = $dbh-prepare("SELECT command,acknowledgement FROM commands WHERE message = '".lc($jbrCmd)."'"); $dbQry-execute(); if($dbQry-rows() 0 && $jbrCmd !~ /^insert/si) { my $ref = $dbQry-fetchrow_hashref(); $dbQry-finish(); $jabberBot-MessageSend(to=$msg-GetFrom(),subject="",body=$ref-{'acknowledgement'},type="chat",priority=10); eval $ref-{'command'}; &keepItGoing; } else { $jabberBot-MessageSend(to=$msg-GetFrom(),subject="",body="I didn't understand you!",type="chat",priority=10); $dbQry-finish(); &keepItGoing; } } } sub gotIQ { print "iq\n"; } sub trimSpaces { my $string = $_[0]; $string =~ s/^\s+//; #remove leading spaces $string =~ s/\s+$//; #remove trailing spaces return $string; } sub keepItGoing { print "keepItGoing!\n"; my $proc = $jabberBot-Process(1); while(defined($proc) && $proc != 1) { $proc = $jabberBot-Process(1); } } sub killBot { print "killing\n"; $jabberBot-MessageSend(to=$_[0]-GetFrom(),subject="",body="Logging Out!",type="chat",priority=10); $jabberBot-Process(1); $jabberBot-Disconnect(); exit; }

  • BizTalk Flat File Failed Message Routing

    - by alram
I have found some broken threads across the web where people claim to be able to use receive shapes in an orchestration with XLANGMessage types to receive flat file schema files that could not be assembled into a specific xsd. I've attempted to set the messagetype in the receive shape as Microsoft.XLANGS.BaseTypes.XLANGMessage, but this basetype is not serializable. This then causes a build error. Is there an object type that can capture both XmlDocuments of well formed xml messages as well as malformed xml and non-assembled flat files?
