  • Perl Capture and Modify STDERR before it prints to a file

    - by MicrobicTiger
    I have a perl script which performs multiple external commands and prints the outputs from STDERR and STDOUT to a logfile along with a series of my own print statements to act as documentation on the process. My problem is that the STDERR repeats ~identical prints as example below. I'd like to capture this before it prints and replace with the final result for each of the commands i run. blocks evaluated : 0 blocks evaluated : 10000 blocks evaluated : 20000 blocks evaluated : 30000 ... blocks evaluated : 3420000 blocks evaluated : 3428776 Here's how I'm getting STDOUT and STDERR my $logfile = "Logfile.log"; #log file name #--- Open log file for append if specified --- if ( $logfile ) { open ( OLDOUT, ">&", STDOUT ) or die "ERROR: Can't backup STDOUT location.\n"; close STDOUT; open ( STDOUT, ">", $logfile ) or die "ERROR: Logfile [$logfile] cannot be opened.\n"; } if ( $logfile ) { open ( OLDERR, ">&", STDERR ) or die "ERROR: Can't backup STDERR location.\n"; close STDERR; open ( STDERR, '>&STDOUT' ) or die "ERROR: failed to pass STDERR to STDOUT.\n"; } and closing them close STDERR; open ( STDERR, ">&", OLDERR ) or die "ERROR: Can't fix that first thing you broke!\n"; close STDOUT; open ( STDOUT, ">&", OLDOUT ) or die "ERROR: Can't fix that other thing you broke!\n"; How do I access the STDERR when each print is occurring to do the replace? Or prevent it from printing if it isn't the last of the batch. Many Thanks in advance.

  • Managing StringBuilder Resources

    - by Jim Fell
    My C# (.NET 2.0) application has a StringBuilder variable with a capacity of 2.5MB. Obviously, I do not want to copy such a large buffer to a larger buffer space every time it fills. By that point, there is so much data in the buffer anyways, removing the older data is a viable option. Can anyone see any obvious problems with how I'm doing this (i.e. am I introducing more performance problems than I'm solving), or does it look okay? tText_c = new StringBuilder(2500000, 2500000); private void AppendToText(string text) { if (tText_c.Length * 100 / tText_c.Capacity > 95) { tText_c.Remove(0, tText_c.Length / 2); } tText_c.Append(text); } EDIT: Additional information: In this application new data is received very rapidly (on the order of milliseconds) through a serial connection. I don't want to populate the multiline textbox with this new information so frequently because that kills the performance of the application, so I'm saving it to a StringBuilder. Every so often, the application copies the contents of the StringBuilder to the textbox and wipes out the StringBuilder contents.

  • How to insert several thousand columns into sqlite3?

    - by user291071
    Similar to my last question, but I ran into problem lets say I have a simple dictionary like below but its Big, when I try inserting a big dictionary using the methods below I get operational error for the c.execute(schema) for too many columns so what should be my alternate method to populate an sql databases columns? Using the alter table command and add each one individually? import sqlite3 con = sqlite3.connect('simple.db') c = con.cursor() dic = { 'x1':{'y1':1.0,'y2':0.0}, 'x2':{'y1':0.0,'y2':2.0,'joe bla':1.5}, 'x3':{'y2':2.0,'y3 45 etc':1.5} } # 1. Find the unique column names. columns = set() for _, cols in dic.items(): for key, _ in cols.items(): columns.add(key) # 2. Create the schema. col_defs = [ # Start with the column for our key name '"row_name" VARCHAR(2) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY' ] for column in columns: col_defs.append('"%s" REAL NULL' % column) schema = "CREATE TABLE simple (%s);" % ",".join(col_defs) c.execute(schema) # 3. Loop through each row for row_name, cols in dic.items(): # Compile the data we have for this row. col_names = cols.keys() col_values = [str(val) for val in cols.values()] # Insert it. sql = 'INSERT INTO simple ("row_name", "%s") VALUES ("%s", "%s");' % ( '","'.join(col_names), row_name, '","'.join(col_values) )

  • Javascript Instance Variable Syntax (AJAX page refresh)

    - by Rosarch
    I'm having difficulty with Javascript instance variables. I'm trying to make an easy way to refresh the chat page, looking for new messages. The AJAX call supplies a mid, or the lowest message id to be returned. This allows the call to only ask for the most recent messages, instead of all of them. MessageRefresher.prototype._latest_mid; function MessageRefresher(latest_mid) { this._latest_mid = latest_mid; // it thinks `this` refers to the MessageRefresher object } MessageRefresher.prototype.refresh = function () { refreshMessages(this._latest_mid); // it thinks `this` refers to the window this._latest_mid++; } function refreshMessages(latest_mid) { $.getJSON('API/read_messages', { room_id: $.getUrlVar('key'), mid: latest_mid }, function (messages) { for (var i = 0; i < messages[0].length; i++) { var newChild = sprintf("<li>%s: %s</li>", messages[1][i], messages[0][i]); $("#messages").append(newChild); } }); var messageRefresher = new MessageRefresher(0); setInterval(messageRefresher.refresh, 1000); This results in all the messages being printed out, over and over again. I know it has other bugs, but the main issue I'm trying to work out right now is the use of the instance variable. Or is there another way I should be going about doing this?

  • Jquery Ajax Search on pressing return key in Internet Explorer

    - by haribo83
    Hi I have found the following code to create a search on my site - this works really well the only problem is in Internet Explorer the search doesn't work when you press the return key. Does anybody have any ideas? The search code is below - if anything else is needed please let me know. $(function() { $(".search_button").click(function() { var search_word = $("#search_box").val(); var dataString = 'search_word='+ search_word; if(search_word=='') { } else { $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "searchdata.php", data: dataString, cache: false, beforeSend: function(html) { document.getElementById("insert_search").innerHTML = ''; $("#flash").show(); $("#searchword").show(); $(".searchword").html(search_word); $("#flash").html('<img src="ajax-loader.gif" /> Loading Results...'); }, success: function(html){ $("#insert_search").show(); $("#insert_search").append(html); $("#flash").hide(); } }); } return false; }); });

  • StringBufferInputStream Question in Java

    - by JJG
    I want to read an input string and return it as a UTF8 encoded string. SO I found an example on the Oracle/Sun website that used FileInputStream. I didn't want to read a file, but a string, so I changed it to StringBufferInputStream and used the code below. The method parameter jtext, is some Japanese text. Actually this method works great. The question is about the deprecated code. I had to put @SuppressWarnings because StringBufferInputStream is deprecated. I want to know is there a better way to get a string input stream? Is it ok just to leave it as is? I've spent so long trying to fix this problem that I don't want to change anything now I seem to have cracked it. @SuppressWarnings("deprecation") private String readInput(String jtext) { StringBuffer buffer = new StringBuffer(); try { StringBufferInputStream sbis = new StringBufferInputStream (jtext); InputStreamReader isr = new InputStreamReader(sbis, "UTF8"); Reader in = new BufferedReader(isr); int ch; while ((ch = in.read()) > -1) { buffer.append((char)ch); } in.close(); return buffer.toString(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); return null; } }

  • File mkdirs() method not working in android/java

    - by Leif Andersen
    I've been pulling out my hair on this for a while now. The following method is supposed to download a file, and save it to the location specified on the hard drive. private static void saveImage(Context context, boolean backgroundUpdate, URL url, File file) { if (!Tools.checkNetworkState(context, backgroundUpdate)) return; // Get the image try { // Make the file file.getParentFile().mkdirs(); // Set up the connection URLConnection uCon = url.openConnection(); InputStream is = uCon.getInputStream(); BufferedInputStream bis = new BufferedInputStream(is); // Download the data ByteArrayBuffer baf = new ByteArrayBuffer(50); int current = 0; while ((current = bis.read()) != -1) { baf.append((byte) current); } // Write the bits to the file OutputStream os = new FileOutputStream(file); os.write(baf.toByteArray()); os.close(); } catch (Exception e) { // Any exception is probably a newtork faiilure, bail return; } } Also, if the file doesn't exist, it is supposed to make the directory for the file. (And if there is another file already in that spot, it should just not do anything). However, for some reason, the mkdirs() method never makes the directory. I've tried everything from explicit parentheses, to explicitly making the parent file class, and nothing seems to work. I'm fairly certain that the drive is writable, as it's only called after that has already been determined, also that is true after running through it while debugging. So the method fails because the parent directories aren't made. Can anyone tell me if there is anything wrong with the way I'm calling it? Also, if it helps, here is the source for the file I'm calling it in: https://github.com/LeifAndersen/NetCatch/blob/master/src/net/leifandersen/mobile/android/netcatch/services/RSSService.java Thank you

  • Quickest way to compare a buch of array or list of values.

    - by zapping
    Can you please let me know on the quickest and efficient way to compare a large set of values. Its like there are a list of parent codes(string) and each code has a series of child values(string). The child lists have to be compared with each other and find out duplicates and count how many times they repeat. code1(code1_value1, code1_value2, code3_value3, ..., code1_valueN); code2(code2_value1, code1_value2, code2_value3, ..., code2_valueN); code3(code2_value1, code3_value2, code3_value3, ..., code3_valueN); . . . codeN(codeN_value1, codeN_value2, codeN_value3, ..., codeN_valueN); The lists are huge say like there are 100 parent codes and each has about 250 values in them. There will not be duplicates within a code list. Doing it in java and the solution i could figure out is. Store the values of first set of code in as codeMap.put(codeValue, duplicateCount). The count initialized to 0. Then compare the rest of the values with this. If its in the map then increment the count otherwise append it to the map. The downfall of this is to get the duplicates. Another iteration needs to be performed on a very large list. An alternative is to maintain another hashmap for duplicates like duplicateCodeMap.put(codeValue, duplicateCount) and change the initial hashmap to codeMap.put(codeValue, codeValue). Speed is what is requirement. Hope one of you can help me with it.

  • Preloading Image Bug in IE6-8

    - by Kevin C.
    Page in question: http://phwsinc.com/our-work/one-rincon-hill.asp In IE6-8, when you click the left-most thumbnail in the gallery, the image never loads. If you click the thumbnail a second time, then it will load. I'm using jQuery, and here's my code that's powering the gallery: $(document).ready(function() { // PROJECT PHOTO GALLERY var thumbs = $('.thumbs li a'); var photoWrapper = $('div.photoWrapper'); if (thumbs.length) { thumbs.click( function(){ photoWrapper.addClass('loading'); var img_src = $(this).attr('href'); // The two lines below are what cause the bug in IE. They make the gallery run much faster in other browsers, though. var new_img = new Image(); new_img.src = img_src; var photo = $('#photo'); photo.fadeOut('slow', function() { photo.attr('src', img_src); photo.load(function() { photoWrapper.removeClass('loading'); photo.fadeIn('slow'); }); }); return false; }); } }); A coworker told me that he's always had problems with the js Image() object, and advised me to just append an <img /> element inside of a div set to display:none;, but that's a little messy for my tastes--I liked using the Image() object, it kept things nice and clean, no unnecessary added HTML markup. Any help would be appreciated. It still works without the image preloading, so if all else fails I'll just wrap the preloading in an if !($.browser.msie){ } and call it a day.

  • How can I load an external jQuery gallery/slideshow into a div

    - by DanTransformer
    Ive got a jQuery navigation menu loading external content into my #main div, which works fine when the content is static, but the site im working on contains jQuery galleries/slideshows which id like to call into the div. The problem im having is when the gallery is loaded, the images all appear but the jQuery functionality does not work. Any help appreciated. here is the javascript im using... $(document).ready(function() { // Check for hash value in URL var hash = window.location.hash.substr(1); var href = $('#accordion ul li a').each(function(){ var href = $(this).attr('href'); if(hash==href.substr(0,href.length-5)){ var toLoad = hash+'.html #main'; $('#main').load(toLoad) } }); $('#accordion ul li a').click(function(){ var toLoad = $(this).attr('href')+' #main'; $('#main').hide('fast',loadContent); $('#load').remove(); $('#wrapper').append('<span id="load">LOADING...</span>'); $('#load').fadeIn('normal'); window.location.hash = $(this).attr('href').substr(0,$(this).attr('href').length-5); function loadContent() { $('#main').load(toLoad,'',showNewContent()) } function showNewContent() { $('#main').show('normal',hideLoader()); } function hideLoader() { $('#load').fadeOut('normal'); } return false; }); });

  • JQuery click anywhere except certain divs and issues with dynamically added html

    - by jCuga
    I want this webpage to highlight certain elements when you click on one of them, but if you click anywhere else on the page, then all of these elements should no longer be highlighted. I accomplished this task by the following, and it works just fine except for one thing (described below): $(document).click(function() { // Do stuff when clicking anywhere but on elements of class suggestion_box $(".suggestion_box").css('background-color', '#FFFFFF'); }); $(".suggestion_box").click(function() { // means you clicked on an object belonging to class suggestion_box return false; }); // the code for handling onclicks for each element function clickSuggestion() { // remove all highlighting $(".suggestion_box").css('background-color', '#FFFFFF'); // then highlight only a specific item $("div[name=" + arguments[0] + "]").css('background-color', '#CCFFCC'); } This way of enforcing the highlighting of elements works fine until I add more html to the page without having a new page load. This is done by .append() and .prepend() What I suspected from debugging was that the page is not "aware" of the new elements that were added to the page dynamically. Despite the new, dynamically added elements having the appropriate class names/IDs/names/onclicks ect, they never get highlighted like the rest of the elements (which continue to work fine the entire time). I was wondering if a possible reason for why my approach does not work for the dynamically added content is that the page is not able to recognize the elements that were not present during the pageload. And if this is a possibility, then is there a way to reconcile this without a pageload? If this line of reasoning is wrong, then the code I have above is probably not enough to show what's wrong with my webpage. But I'm really just interested in whether or not this line of thought is a possibility.

  • Attempted GCF app for Android

    I am new to Android and am trying to create a very basic app that calculates and displays the GCF of two numbers entered by the user. Here is a copy of my GCF.java: package com.example.GCF; import java.util.Arrays; import android.app.Activity; import android.os.Bundle; import android.view.View; import android.view.View.OnClickListener; import android.widget.Button; import android.widget.EditText; import android.widget.TextView; public class GCF extends Activity { private TextView mAnswer; private EditText mA, mB; private Button ok; private String A, B; private int iA, iB; public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); mA = (EditText) findViewById(R.id.entry); mB = (EditText) findViewById(R.id.entry1); ok = (Button) findViewById(R.id.ok); mAnswer = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.answer1); ok.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View v) { A = mA.getText().toString(); B = mB.getText().toString(); } }); // the String to int conversion happens here iA = Integer.parseInt(A.trim()); iB = Integer.parseInt(B.trim()); while (iA != iB) { int[] nums={ iA, iB, Math.abs(iA-iB) }; Arrays.sort(nums); iA=nums[0]; iB=nums[1]; } updateDisplay(); } private void updateDisplay() { mAnswer.setText( new StringBuilder().append(iA)); } } Any Suggestions? • How to get jQuery to find the first list-item, rather than all list-items?

    - by ricebowl
    I'm trying to implement a basic jQuery infinite carousel. As much for the learning process as for anything else (as a rule I'm not a fan of re-inventing wheels, but...I have to learn somehow, might as well start with the basics). I've managed to get the list to animate left happily enough, but I'm stuck when it comes to selecting the first element of the list. I've tried to use: $('ul#services > li:first'); $('ul#services > li:first-child'); $('ul#services > li').eq([0]); (xhtml below), In each case a console.log(first) (the var name used) returns all of the list-items. Am I doing something blatantly, and obviously, wrong? The eventual plan is to clone the first li, append it to the parent ul, remove the li from the list and allow the list to scroll infinitely. It's just a list of services rather than links so I'm not -at the moment- planning to have scroll or left/right functionality. Current xhtml: <div class="wrapper"> <ul id="services"> <!-- closing the `</li>` tags on the following line is to remove whitespace in the horizontal list, doesn't seem to make a difference to the jQuery from my own testing. --> <li>one</li ><li>two</li ><li>three</li ><li>four</li ><li>five</li ><li>six</li ><li>seven</li ><li>eight</li ><li>nine</li ><li>ten</li> </ul> </div>

  • How can I run an appear effect and a fade effect in scriptaculous? I need them to run in tandam so t

    - by LeeRM
    Hi, Ive been fiddling with this for hours and hours and just cant get it right. First off my sites are already using Prototytpe and Scriptaculous, and to change would take a long time. Basically I am after achieving a slideshow effect similar to jQuery Cycle plugin. I have written most of it but cant get over this hurdle: I need the user to be able to press a control button which will skip the slide to which ever one they have picked. My problem is that if a fade / appear effect is running, then it causes an overlap. I am using queues and they are in their own scope. The problem as I see it is that the fade effect on one slide and the appear effect on the next slide are separate functions. Which means that if the user clicks the control button to move to another slide whilst the animation is inbetween fade & appear, then the next cycle will slot itself in the queue between those 2 effects. The default is to append to the end of the existing queue, which should be fine. But if the appear hasnt been added when a new fade is instantiated, then the queue messes up. I can make it so nothing happens if animation is in effect but thats not the effect I am after. I want to be able to click a slide and whatever is happening to effectively stop and the next slide appear. This is an example of what I am after: http://www.zendesk.com/ Im sorry if that doesnt make sense. Its a tough one to explain. Thanks Lee

  • Sys. engineer has decided to dynamically transform all XSLs into DLLs on website build process. DLL

    - by John Sullivan
    Hello, OS: Win XP. Here is my situation. I have a browser based application. It is "wrapped" in a Visual Basic application. Our "Systems Engineer Senior" has decided to spawn DLL files from all of our XSL pages (many of which have duplicate names) upon building a new instance of the website and have the active server pages (ASPX) use the DLL instead. This has created a "known issue" in which ~200 DLL naming conflicts occur and, thus, half of our application is broken. I think a solution to this problem is that, thankfully, we're generating the names of the DLLs and linking them up with our application dynamically. Therefore we can do something kludgy like generate a hash and append it to the end of the DLL file name when we build our website, then always reference the DLL that had some kind of random string / hash appended to its name. Aside from outright renaming the DLLs, is there another way to have multiple DLLs with the same name register for one application? I think the answer is "No, only between different applications using a special technique." Please confirm. Another question I have on my mind is whether this whole idea is a good practice -- converting our XSL pages (which we use in mass -- every time a response from our web app occurs) into DLL functions that call a "function" to do what the XSL page did via an active server page (ASPX), when we were before just sending an XML response to an XSL page via aspx.

  • SCons and dependencies for python function generating source

    - by elmo
    I have an input file data, a python function parse and a template. What I am trying to do is use parse function to get dictionary out of data and use that to replace fields in template. Now to make this a bit more generic (I perform the same action in few places) I have defined a custom function to do so. Below is definition of custom builder and values is a dictionary with { 'name': (data_file, parse_function) } (you don't really need to read through this, I simply put it here for completeness). def TOOL_ADD_FILL_TEMPLATE(env): def FillTemplate(env, output, template, values): out = output[0] subs = {} for name, (node, process) in values.iteritems(): def Process(env, target, source): with open( env.GetBuildPath(target[0]), 'w') as out: out.write( process( source[0] ) ) builder = env.Builder( action = Process ) subs[name] = builder( env, env.GetBuildPath(output[0])+'_'+name+'_processed.cpp', node )[0] def Fill(env, target, source): values = dict( (name, n.get_contents()) for name, n in subs.iteritems() ) contents = template[0].get_contents().format( **values ) open( env.GetBuildPath(target[0]), 'w').write( contents ) builder = env.Builder( action = Fill ) builder( env, output[0], template + subs.values() ) return output env.Append(BUILDERS = {'FillTemplate': FillTemplate}) It works fine when it comes to checking if data or template changed. If it did it rebuilds the output. It even works if I edit process function directly. However if my process function looks like this: def process( node ): return subprocess(node) and I edit subprocess the change goes unnoticed. Is there any way to get correct builds without making process functions being always invoked?

  • lists searches in SYB or uniplate haskell

    - by Chris
    I have been using uniplate and SYB and I am trying to transform a list For instance type Tree = [DataA] data DataA = DataA1 [DataB] | DataA2 String | DataA3 String [DataA] deriving Show data DataB = DataB1 [DataA] | DataB2 String | DataB3 String [DataB] deriving Show For instance, I would like to traverse my tree and append a value to all [DataB] So my first thought was to do this: changeDataB:: Tree -> Tree changeDataB = everywhere(mkT changeDataB') chanegDataB'::[DataB] -> [DataB] changeDataB' <add changes here> or if I was using uniplate changeDataB:: Tree -> Tree changeDataB = transformBi changeDataB' chanegDataB'::[DataB] -> [DataB] changeDataB' <add changes here> The problem is that I only want to search on the full list. Doing either of these searches will cause a search on the full list and all of the sub-lists (including the empty list) The other problem is that a value in [DataB] may generate a [DataB], so I don't know if this is the same kind of solution as not searching chars in a string. I could pattern match on DataA1 and DataB3, but in my real application there are a bunch of [DataB]. Pattern matching on the parents would be extensive. The other thought that I had was to create a data DataBs = [DataB] and use that to transform on. That seems kind of lame, there must be a better solution.

  • Accessing and manipulating lwpf listbox datatemplate elements

    - by black sensei
    Hello good people , i'm trying to achieve a functionality but i'm don't know how to start it. I'm using vs 2008 sp1 and i'm consuming a webservice which returns a collection (is contactInfo[]) that i bind to a ListBox with little datatemplate on it. <ListBox Margin="-146,-124,-143,-118.808" Name="contactListBox" MaxHeight="240" MaxWidth="300" MinHeight="240" MinWidth="300"> <ListBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <TextBlock> <CheckBox Name="contactsCheck" Uid="{Binding fullName}" Checked="contacts_Checked" /><Label Content="{Binding fullName}" FontSize="15" FontWeight="Bold"/> <LineBreak/> <Label Content="{Binding mobile}" FontSize="10" FontStyle="Italic" Foreground="DimGray" /> <Label Content="{Binding email}" FontStyle="Italic" FontSize="10" Foreground="DimGray"/> </TextBlock> </DataTemplate> </ListBox.ItemTemplate> </ListBox> Every works fine so far. so When a checkbox is checked i'll like to access the information of the labels (either the) belonging to the same row or attached to it and append the information to a global variable for example (for each checkbox checked). My problem right now is that i don't know how to do that. Can any one shed some light on how to do that? if you notice Checked="contacts_Checked" that's where i planned to perform the operations. thanks for reading and helping out

  • Help me convert C# 1.1 Xml validation code to C# 2.0 please.

    - by Hamish Grubijan
    It would be fantastic if you could help me rid of these warnings below. I have not been able to find a good document. Since the warnings are concentrated in just the private void ValidateConfiguration( XmlNode section ) section, hopefully this is not terribly hard to answer, if you have encountered this before. Thanks! 'System.Configuration.ConfigurationException.ConfigurationException(string)' is obsolete: 'This class is obsolete, to create a new exception create a System.Configuration!System.Configuration.ConfigurationErrorsException' 'System.Xml.XmlValidatingReader' is obsolete: 'Use XmlReader created by XmlReader.Create() method using appropriate XmlReaderSettings instead. http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=14202' private void ValidateConfiguration( XmlNode section ) { // throw if there is no configuration node. if( null == section ) { throw new ConfigurationException("The configuration section passed within the ... class was null ... there must be a configuration file defined.", section ); } //Validate the document using a schema XmlValidatingReader vreader = new XmlValidatingReader( new XmlTextReader( new StringReader( section.OuterXml ) ) ); // open stream on Resources; the XSD is set as an "embedded resource" so Resource can open a stream on it using (Stream xsdFile = XYZ.GetStream("ABC.xsd")) using (StreamReader sr = new StreamReader(xsdFile)) { vreader.ValidationEventHandler += new ValidationEventHandler(ValidationCallBack); vreader.Schemas.Add(XmlSchema.Read(new XmlTextReader(sr), null)); vreader.ValidationType = ValidationType.Schema; // Validate the document while (vreader.Read()) { } if (!_isValidDocument) { _schemaErrors = _sb.ToString(); throw new ConfigurationException("XML Document not valid"); } } } // Does not cause warnings. private void ValidationCallBack( object sender, ValidationEventArgs args ) { // check what KIND of problem the schema validation reader has; // on FX 1.0, it gives a warning for "<xs:any...skip" sections. Don't worry about those, only set validation false // for real errors if( args.Severity == XmlSeverityType.Error ) { _isValidDocument = false; _sb.Append( args.Message + Environment.NewLine ); } }

  • Making a Delete and Reply button in Jquery

    - by Branko Ostojic
    this is my second post on the website. Of all other sites i tried, this one gave the most accurate and useful information! I'm in a bit of a trouble with buttons, i have a task to make an inbox and to add a "reply" and "delete" button into every instance of the message. I was indeed wandering if there is a better way to do that than forcing the HTML code into the script, because every message is dynamically generated. Any help and/or suggestions would be very appreciated!(The objects are called from a JSON file). $(document).ready(function(){ $.getJSON('public/js/data.json', function(json){ $.each(json.data, function(i, data){ var output = ''; if(data.from.id != '234' && data.from.name != 'Alan Ford'){ $("#inbox").append( output += '<div class="post">'+ '<div class="h1">'+data.from.name+' - '+data.subject+'</div>'+ //this gives the name of the person who sent the message and the subject '<div class="content">'+data.message_formatted+'</div>'+ //The content of the message //buttons should be squeezed left of the date //this gives the date of the message sent '<div class="time">'+data.date_sent_formatted.formatted+'</div>'+ '</div>' ); }}); }); }); var date_sent=convertToDateTime(); function delete_message(id){ console.log('Delete message with id: '+id); } function reply_message(id, sender){ console.log('Message id: '+id); console.log('Reply to: '+sender); } The complete code in the JSFiddle . Just copy/pasted!

  • Problem with configure script

    - by cube
    I am running into a problem with the ./configure script for ffmpeg. My linux environment uses busybox, which only allows for limited set of linux commands. One command which is used in the ffmpeg ./configure script is mktemp -u, the problem here is the busybox for linux does not recognize the -u switch as valid, so it complains about it and breaks the configure process. This is the relevant code in ./configure which uses the mktemp -u command: if ! check_cmd type mktemp; then # simple replacement for missing mktemp # NOT SAFE FOR GENERAL USE mktemp(){ echo "${2%XXX*}.${HOSTNAME}.${UID}.$$" } fi tmpfile(){ tmp=$(mktemp -u "${TMPDIR}/ffconf.XXXXXXXX")$2 && (set -C; exec > $tmp) 2>/dev/null || die "Unable to create temporary file in $TMPDIR." append TMPFILES $tmp eval $1=$tmp } I am not good with bash scripting at all, so I was wondering if anyone one had an idea on how I can force this configure script to not use mktemp -u and use the 'replacement' alternative option that is available in as per the snippet above. Thanks. btw... simply removing the -u switch does not work. Nor does replacing it with -t, or -p. I believe the mktemp has to be bypassed completely.

    - by c0mrade
    Hello, I'm making a image website with a bunch of images on the website, and below every image there is possibility of commenting the image and after that comments gets displayed without page loading and the comment content, the problem is when I have long comments which break the current line they don't get displayed since my comment box css overflow is hidden. Here is example : This is a comment - This is displayed properly This is a comment This is a comment This is a comment - this is not displayed properly since it break line. Here is the jQuery code for this : $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "<?=base_url()?>imagesform/post_comment", data: datas, success: function () { $("#image-comments-" + image_id).attr("class", "comments"); $("#image-comments-" + image_id).append("<li id=\"new_append_" + image_id+ "\">" + $("#image").find(".comment").val() + "</li>").children(':last').height($('.comments li:last').height()).hide().slideDown(500, function () { var bodyHeight = $('html').height(); $('.addComment').fadeOut(300, function () { $('html').height(bodyHeight); }); }); alert($("#image").find(".comment").val()); } }); Here the $("#image").find(".comment").val() is the value of the text-area in which comment is inputted, when I alert it the whole multi line input is there put its not being appended to the li properly, that is part when I get confused, any suggestions why only part of the inputted string is appended?

  • Jquery ajax ($.ajax) not working on chrome. please help

    - by racky
    Hi, I need a little help to figure out why the following code does not work on google chrome 5/windows xp. It works well on all other browsers (IE, FF, Safri, Opera etc). Can someone shed some light around this? /* AJAX Request */ jq("#a-post-request").unbind("click").bind("click", function(e){ //jq("#loading").css({"display":"block"}); jq.ajax({ url: "search_data_table.html", type: "get", cache: false, error: function(){alert ("No data found for your search.");}, success: function(data){ jq("#search-results-table tbody").empty().append(data); jq("#search-results").css({"display":"block"}); jq("#search-results-table").trigger("update"); // this one is for the table sorter plugin // set sorting column and direction, this will sort on the first column. var sorting = [[0,0]];// this one is for the table sorter plugin // sort on the first column . jq("#search-results-table").trigger("sorton",[sorting]);// this one is for the table sorter plugin e.preventDefault(); } }); }); Many thanks, Racky
