• Debuging to simulator crashes with "exited with status 5" unless I have breakpoint

- by tigermain
For some reason the app I am working on has very bad PMT! Literally! Most of the time I cannot debug using the simulator without putting a breakpoint in my AppDelegate. If I don't it exists with "status 5". If I put a break point in and simple continue it works perfectly well, it also works if I run the app in the simulator when not connected to the GDB. I have tried the source on a second machine with exactly the same results. I dont have this issue building to the device?!?!?! Thanks

- by sunnycmf
like build in apple notes app, after you swipe to delete the selected row, it will select the nearest available row automatically. The logic should be: if row count 0 then if deleted_row == last row then select deleted_row_index-1 row else select deleted_row_index+1 row end end i have try to implement the above logic in the commitEditingStyle event, but the selection fail. the selectRowAtIndexPath logic just don't work in this event, if i apply it in a button, it works. any idea?

• Preserving alpha issues with loaded UIImages - how to avoid discarding alpha values on import?

- by Peter Hajas
My application lets the user save/load images with alpha values to the camera roll on the device. I can see in the Photos application that these images are appropriately alpha'd, as alpha'd areas just appear black. However, when I load these images back into the application using the valueForKey:UIImagePickerControllerOriginalImage message to the info dictionary from (void)imagePickerController:(UIImagePickerController *)picker didFinishPickingMediaWithInfo:(NSDictionary *)info, the alpha values are turned to just white, making those sections opaque. Is there a way to preserve these alpha values?

• Troubleshooting FORM POST problems

- by brettr
I'm using the following code to submit to a WCF service. I keep getting an error that the key is invalid. I have a webpage on the same server that I submit the same data (but different key) using a FORM POST. It works fine that way. I put the URL below all in a URL (including valid key from server webpage) and get the key is invalid error. I'm thinking the data I'm submitting through the iPhone isn't really going across as a FORM POST but rather as a URL. Is there anything I may be doing wrong in the following code or any other suggestions? NSString *stringForURL = @"https://abc.com/someservice.aspx"; NSURL *URL=[[NSURL alloc] initWithString:stringForURL]; NSMutableURLRequest *request = [NSMutableURLRequest requestWithURL:URL]; NSString *request_body = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"prop1=value1&key=%@", [@"r2xHEuzgDTQEWA5Xe6+k9BSVrgsMX2mWQBW/39nqT4s=" stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]]; NSData *postData = [request_body dataUsingEncoding:NSASCIIStringEncoding allowLossyConversion:YES]; NSString *postLength = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", [postData length]]; [request setValue:postLength forHTTPHeaderField:@"Content-Length"]; [request setHTTPMethod:@"POST"]; [request setValue:@"application/x-www-form-urlencoded" forHTTPHeaderField:@"Content-Type"]; [request setHTTPBody:postData]; NSURLConnection *connection = [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:request delegate:self]; [NSThread sleepForTimeInterval:1]; self.receivedData = [[NSMutableData data] retain];

• About updating a View using in iPhone using Objective C.

- by Tattat
I have a scene, called testScene, it works like this: @interface testScene : myScene { IBOutlet UIView *subview; IBOutlet UIView *drawingCanvasView; IBOutlet UIButton *update; } - (void)updateDrawingCanvas: (id) sender; and when the user click the button, update, it will run the updateDrawingCanvas method. So, I have a drawingCanvasView, which gave a drawingCanvas.h, and .m, it like this: #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @interface DrawingCanvasView : UIView { CGImageRef image; } -(void)setNeedsDisplayInRect:(CGContextRef)context; @end In the DrawingCanvasView, I have a drawRect method like this: CGContextRef context = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(); CGContextSetLineWidth(context, 2.0); CGContextSetStrokeColorWithColor(context, [UIColor redColor].CGColor); CGContextMoveToPoint(context, 0.0f, 0.0f); CGContextAddLineToPoint(context, 100.0f, 100.0f); CGContextStrokePath(context); And I want the user click the button, and execute this, so I added a new method called setNeedsDisplayInRect: CGContextRef context = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(); CGContextSetLineWidth(context, 2.0); CGContextSetStrokeColorWithColor(context, [UIColor yellowColor].CGColor); CGContextMoveToPoint(context, 0.0f, 0.0f); CGContextAddLineToPoint(context, 200.0f, 200.0f); CGContextStrokePath(context); But I can't called that in my updateDrawingCanvas method, it work like this: - (void)updateDrawingCanvas: (id) sender{ NSLog(@"loaded"); [DrawingCanvasView setNeedsDisplayInRect:UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext()]; } It my logic / concept right? or something I did wrong, thx.

• iphone - using NSInvocation: constant value

- by Mike
I am dealing with an old iPhone OS 2.x project and I want to keep compatibility, while designing for 3.x. I am using NSInvocation, is a code like this NSInvocation* invoc = [NSInvocation invocationWithMethodSignature: [cell methodSignatureForSelector: @selector(initWithStyle:reuseIdentifier:)]]; [invoc setTarget:cell]; [invoc setSelector:@selector(initWithStyle:reuseIdentifier:)]; int arg2 = UITableViewCellStyleDefault; //???? [invoc setArgument:&arg2 atIndex:2]; [invoc setArgument:&identificadorNormal atIndex:3]; [invoc invoke]; to call 3.0 APIs on 2.0. I am having a problem on the line I marked with question marks. The problem there is that I am trying to assing to arg2, a constant that has not been defined in OS 2.0. As everything with NSInvocation is to do stuff indirectly to avoid compiler errors, how do I set this constant to a variable in an indirect way? Some sort of performSelector "assign value to variable"... is that possible? thanks for any help.

• How do you get Length of Text in a Mojo TextField?

- by figus
How do you get the length of the text inside a Mojo TextField? I'm trying to set a multiLine TextField with a limit of 150 chars, I tried doing it with a counter, but ran into a issue of not being able to decrement the counter when the text was erased, or adding the right number when pasting text, so my new approach was to get the length of the text each time you press a letter. I've already tried this: (gets called in the charsAllow attribute of the textField) if (this.controller.get("mensaje").mojo.getValue().length <= 150) { return true; } this.controller.get("mensaje").mojo.blur(); return false; but it doesn't work.... I debugged and the function exits just after the line in bold... it doesn't even returns true or false. I also tried assigning the length value to a variable or assigning the text to a variable and then get the length, but nothing. It's the same issue. It returns just after the getValue(). Also, maybe because of this issue, the text scrolls instead of wrapping, but when the textField loses focus it wraps the text.

• How can I programmatically add more than just one view object to my view controller?

- by BeachRunnerJoe
I'm diving into iPhone OS development and I'm trying to understand how I can add multiple view objects to the "Left/Root" view of my SplitView iPad app. I've figured out how to programmatically add a TableView to that view based on the example code I found in Apple's online documentation... RootViewController.h @interface RootViewController : UITableViewController <NSFetchedResultsControllerDelegate, UITableViewDelegate, UITableViewDataSource> { DetailViewController *detailViewController; UITableView *tableView; NSFetchedResultsController *fetchedResultsController; NSManagedObjectContext *managedObjectContext; } RootViewController.m - (void)loadView { UITableView *newTableView = [[UITableView alloc] initWithFrame:[[UIScreen mainScreen] applicationFrame] style:UITableViewStylePlain]; newTableView.autoresizingMask = UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleHeight|UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleWidth; newTableView.delegate = self; newTableView.dataSource = self; [newTableView reloadData]; self.view = newTableView; [newTableView release]; } but there are a few things I don't understand about it and I was hoping you veterans could help clear up some confusion. In the statement self.view = newTableView, I assume I'm setting the entire view to a single UITableView. If that's the case, then how can I add additional view objects to that view alongside the table view? For example, if I wanted to have a DatePicker view object and the TableView object instead of just the TableView object, then how would I programmatically add that? Referencing the code above, how can I resize the table view to make room for the DatePicker view object that I'd like to add? Thanks so much in advance for your help! I'm going to continue researching these questions right now.

• Two PickerViews in save View issue?

- by NextRev
I'm trying to have 2 pickerviews in the same view. It works except for two things. If one pickerview has more rows than the other the app crashes when picking an item from the pickerview with more items. Also I created an NSLog for the pickerviews and the console shows that I'm picking two items at once when in fact i'm only dealing with one pickerview. I know it sounds a bit confusing but I'm including all the code. Thank you in advance. list and list2 are NSMutableArrays list has 4 items list2 has 5 items There error: * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSRangeException', reason: '* -[NSCFArray objectAtIndex:]: index (4) beyond bounds (4)' -(NSInteger)numberOfComponentsInPickerView:(UIPickerView *)thePickerView{ if([thePickerView isEqual:pickerView1 ]){ return 1; } else if([thePickerView isEqual:pickerView2]){ return 1; } else{ return 0; } } -(NSInteger)pickerView:(UIPickerView *)thePickerView numberOfRowsInComponent:(NSInteger)component{ if([thePickerView isEqual:pickerView1 ]){ return [list count]; } else if([thePickerView isEqual:pickerView2]){ return [list2 count]; } else{ return 0; } } -(NSString *)pickerView:(UIPickerView *)thePickerView titleForRow:(NSInteger)row forComponent:(NSInteger)component{ if([thePickerView isEqual:pickerView1 ]){ return [list objectAtIndex:row]; } else if([thePickerView isEqual:pickerView2]){ return [list2 objectAtIndex:row]; } else{ return 0; } } - (void)pickerView:(UIPickerView *)thePickerView didSelectRow:(NSInteger)row inComponent:(NSInteger)component { NSLog(@"Selected item %@. • IPhone XCode programming: view called from a navigation view doesn't set its IBOutlet attributes

- by Antonio Murgia
I created a view Called ProgrammaView that appears when a row of a table is clicked. This view has a UILabel, a UIImageView and a UITextView. Now. ProgrammaView's Outlets have to be changed by the parameter passed to a method of the view called iniz. in this image there is first the ProgrammaView.h and then the method iniz. The problem is that the label and other stuff doesn't change! I checked 3 million times that everything between the xib file and the controller is linked. The trick to call iniz in the other viewcontrollers works well in other part of the program so i think is not that the problem. Thank you in advance!

• How to add star rating to UITableView cell?

- by RaYell
I need to display a bunch of UITableViewCell in my iPhone application. Sample look below. I know how I can enable accessory view and image to UITableView cell but the problem is that I need to add a star rating as visible on the screen. There's no fancy logic behind it, it will just be few images that will be either enabled or disabled. I though that I could create a custom UITableViewCell in NIB but how would I use it in cellForRowAtIndexPath method. If it was just one custom cell I'd just provide an outlet for it and hook it with a property and use it there. But since it would be used multiple times I think I'll need to clone it or copy somehow. What is the simpliest way of adding such stuff to UITableViewCell?

• insertNewObjectForEntityForName: inManagedObjectContext: returning NSNumber bug?

- by beinstein
I'm relatively well versed in CoreData and have been using it for several years with little or no difficulty. All of a sudden I'm now dumbfounded by an error. For the life of me, I can't figure out why insertNewObjectForEntityForName:inManagedObjectContext: is all of a sudden returning some sort of strange instance of NSNumber. GDB says the returned object is of the correct custom subclass of NSManagedObject, but when I go to print a description of the NSManagedObject itself, I get the following error: *** -[NSCFNumber objectID]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x3f26f50 What's even stranger, is that I'm able to set some relationships and attributes using setValue:forKey: and all is good. But when I try to set once specific relationship, I get this error: *** -[NSCFNumber entity]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x3f26f50 Has anyone ever encountered anything like this before? I've tried clean all targets, restarting everything, even changing the model to the relationship in question is a to-one instead of a to-many. Nothing makes any difference.

• Passing Activity to non-activity object properly

- by rayman
In my app ive got a non-activity object which it's role is being a manager class. many times i need to pass "source activity" to methods as parameter to that manager class in order to make some operations on that activity. for exaple let's assume we have MyActivity which gotta do some toast. so i have this manager class called MyManager, and i have this method in it raiseToast(Activity sourceActivity) { Toast.makeText(sourceActivity, demo, Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show(); } and from Myactivity class we calling that method this way: MyManager manager=new MyManager(); manager.raitetoast(MyActivity.this); it works fine. what I'm asking here, is this a proper way to pass an Activity as parameter to a non-activity object? I'm having a memory leaks on real device(not the emulator), I wonder if this could also causing any reason for that? Thanks Idan.

I have an app that does not currently use a Setting.bundle to display setting in the iPhone Settings app. I am releasing an update that does. On a fresh install, the settings are added to the Setting App as expected, but upon updating from the old install, the bundle is not added. Is there some sort of trick to get the Settings App to show my Settings.bundle?

• NSNumber >= 13 won't retain. Everything else will.

- by jkap
The code I'm currently working on requires adding an NSNumber object to an array. All of the NSNumbers with value 0-12 are added fine, but 13 onward causes a EXC_BAD_ACCESS. I turned on NSZombieEnabled and am now getting *** -[CFNumber retain]: message sent to deallocated instance 0x3c78420.
