  • What is wrong with me - bug problem? [closed]

    - by reizals
    I have about 6 years exp. in app. development. Not so long ago I had moved to another company and the problem has started. I ready don't know why the last time Im making so many bugs/mistakes. Of course Im testing the functionality before I send message that its "done", but I really don't know why I can't see trivial bugs. Some time it looks like I didnt test anything, but its not true. Ive always had this problems but now its pain in the a.s. My question is very simple, what happened to me ;)? Ok, joke aside. What do you do to avoid simple mistakes? plzzz don't tell me to use TDD. The project is... legacy and Im really sick and tired to fix it and adding more bugs into it. best regards

  • What IDE(s) or editor(s) do companies like Google, Apple, IBM, etc. use?

    - by Pius
    Even though I have quite some experience in using various tools, I still can't make up my mind whether I prefer using IDE or a simple editor for code editing. Most IDEs I have experienced are written in Java (like Eclipse) which makes them slow and bulky. What's good about them is that it provides lots of tools. On the other hand editors are usually VERY fast. They can also be extended to become more similar to IDEs but usually I don't do that. However, there is Sublime Text 2 which has some basic code completion built-in. My question would be whether most Enterprise companies like Google, Apple, IBM and etc (except Microsoft because they have AMAZING IDE which, I assume, is used by MS developers) force their workers to use IDEs and whether using plain editor with external tools is considered being not professional? P.S. Not talking about cases like Android development where working without IDE barely possible.

  • async tree jquery easy ui

    - by user765368
    I'm trying to create an Async Tree in jQuery Easy Ui. I understand the idea behind it, but will this work if my root node is not a node that is coming from the database or something (therefore, it does not have any id). My root node is some node that I define myself. How would I make an async tree in jquery easy ui to load a bunch of nodes as children of my root node (which, again has no id because it's not coming from the database. My children nodes are coming from the database though). I hope y'all understand what I'm trying to do here. Any help please

  • jQuery Block UI: node is undefined

    - by stef
    I'm close to finishing an app that uses quite a bit of JS. Recently Firebug started throwing an error that says "node is undefined", referring to data.parent = node.parentNode; on line 209 of jQuery blockUI plugin Version 2.31 (06-JAN-2010) @requires jQuery v1.2.3 or later. I'm using jQuery 1.4.2 When I remove the code from my page that triggers the Block UI action, the error is still there. So it does not seem to be an issue in my code but an "error" in the file itself, or perhaps some kind of conflict with another file? For info my code is below. My IDE is highlighting some syntax errors in here but it does that even when there are none. Perhaps I'm missing it? $.blockUI({ css: { border: 'none', padding: '25px', backgroundColor: '#fff', '-webkit-border-radius': '10px', '-moz-border-radius': '10px', opacity: 1, color: '#000' , cursor: 'auto' }, message: $('#block_ui_msg'), }); EDIT: I just replaced the block UI file with the latest version 2.33 (29-MAR-2010), error still occurs but this time on line 210.

  • C++ compiler errors in xamltypeinfo.g.cpp

    - by Richard Banks
    I must be missing something obvious but I'm not sure what. I've created a blank C++ metro app and I've just added a model that I will bind to in my UI however I'm getting a range of compiler warnings related to xamltypeinfo.g.cpp and I'm not sure what I've missed. My header file looks like this: #pragma once #include "pch.h" #include "MyColor.h" using namespace Platform; namespace CppDataBinding { [Windows::UI::Xaml::Data::Bindable] public ref class MyColor sealed : Windows::UI::Xaml::Data::INotifyPropertyChanged { public: MyColor(); ~MyColor(); virtual event Windows::UI::Xaml::Data::PropertyChangedEventHandler^ PropertyChanged; property Platform::String^ RedValue { Platform::String^ get() { return _redValue; } void set(Platform::String^ value) { _redValue = value; RaisePropertyChanged("RedValue"); } } protected: void RaisePropertyChanged(Platform::String^ name); private: Platform::String^ _redValue; }; } and my cpp file looks like this: #include "pch.h" #include "MyColor.h" using namespace CppDataBinding; MyColor::MyColor() { } MyColor::~MyColor() { } void MyColor::RaisePropertyChanged(Platform::String^ name) { if (PropertyChanged != nullptr) { PropertyChanged(this, ref new Windows::UI::Xaml::Data::PropertyChangedEventArgs(name)); } } Nothing too tricky, but when I compile I get errors in xamltypeinfo.g.cpp indicating that MyColor is not defined in CppDataBinding. The relevant generated code looks like this: if (typeName == "CppDataBinding.MyColor") { userType = ref new XamlUserType(this, typeName, GetXamlTypeByName("Object")); userType->Activator = ref new XamlTypeInfo::InfoProvider::Activator( []() -> Platform::Object^ { return ref new CppDataBinding::MyColor(); }); userType->AddMemberName("RedValue", "CppDataBinding.MyColor.RedValue"); userType->SetIsBindable(); xamlType = userType; } If I remove the Bindable attribute from MyColor the code compiles. Can someone tell me what blindingly obvious thing I've missed so I can give myself a facepalm and fix the problem?

  • Accessing UI context from asynch task

    - by cdonner
    I came across this android example that runs an AsyncTask from a UI thread. The class ExportDatabaseTask is declared and instantiated in the Activity, and apparently it is possible to reference the activity's UI context from the onPreExecute and onPostExecute events, like this: public class ManageData extends Activity { private ExportDatabaseTask exportDatabaseTask; [...] @Override public void onCreate(final Bundle savedInstanceState) { [...] ManageData.this.exportDatabaseTask = new ExportDatabaseTask(); ManageData.this.exportDatabaseTask.execute(); [...] } private class ExportDatabaseTask extends AsyncTask<String, Void, Boolean> { private final ProgressDialog dialog = new ProgressDialog(ManageData.this); protected void onPreExecute() { this.dialog.setMessage("Exporting database..."); this.dialog.show(); } protected Boolean doInBackground(final String... args) { [...] } protected void onPostExecute(final Boolean success) { if (this.dialog.isShowing()) { this.dialog.dismiss(); } } } I am trying to refactor this so that the ExportDatabaseTask is declared in another class that is not the Activity, for various reasons, and I can't quite figure out how to make it work. I am lacking some basic Java concepts here, which I readily admit. Specifically, myActivity is null in onPreExecute(). Why is that? public void onClick(View v) { Exporter ex = new Exporter(getApplicationContext(), ActivityMain.this); ex.exportDatabaseTask.execute(); } public class Exporter { public ExportDatabaseTask exportDatabaseTask; public Exporter(Context ctx, ActivityMain act) { myContext = ctx; myActivity = act; this.exportDatabaseTask = new ExportDatabaseTask(); } public class ExportDatabaseTask extends AsyncTask<Void, Void, Boolean> { private final ProgressDialog dialog = new ProgressDialog(myContext); // can use UI thread here? protected void onPreExecute() { // ====> this throws a Nullpointer exception: myActivity.dialog.setMessage("Exporting database..."); myActivity.dialog.show(); } protected Boolean doInBackground(final Void... args) { } protected void onPostExecute(final Boolean success) { if (myActivity.dialog.isShowing()) { myActivity.dialog.dismiss(); } } } }

  • iPad UI clipped in simulator

    - by raj.tiwari
    My views created for iPad form factor look fine in Interface Builder. However, when I debug my app in iPhone Simulator 3.2 (with Hardware - Device set to iPad), I see the UI clipped and about half size. There is a 2x button at the bottom which lets me zoom in. But this just shows the same clipped UI in double size. This is really weird since I have created the XIB for iPad form factor and it is supposed to fit iPad completely. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong? I am using iPhone SDK 3.2 downloaded on 4/30/2010. Thanks. -Raj

  • Using jQuery, setting Draggable on an element prevents blur from firing when you click the draggable

    - by Danno
    Using jQuery, when you set a blur event on a text box and set another element as draggable, when you click the draggable element, the blur event does not fire in FireFox. IE is a little better, you get the blur event but you don't get the click event on the draggable element. If you don't specify the cancel: "" in the draggable constructor, you will get the blur event to fire, but then the element you want to drag is not draggable. jQuery v1.3.2 jQuery UI v1.7.2 The console.log lines are for FireFox's FireBug plugin. <HTML> <HEAD> <TITLE>Blur/Click Workbench</TITLE> <script src="js/jquery.js" type="text/javascript" ></script> <script src="js/ui/ui.core.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="js/ui/ui.draggable.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> function blurring() { console.log('1 - blurring - ' + $( this ).attr('id')); } function clicking() { console.log('2 - clicking - ' + $( this ).attr('id')); } $(document).ready(function() { $( ".draggableTool" ).draggable( { cancel: "" } ); $( '.property' ).blur( blurring ); $( '#labelContainer' ).click( clicking ); }); </script> </HEAD> <BODY> <input type='text' class='property' id='tb1' /> <br /> <input type='text' class='property' id='tb2' /> <br /> <label class='draggableTool' id='labelContainer' style='height:20px;position:absolute;'> <textarea id='taLabel' style='height:100%;background-color:white;border:1px solid grey;'>Label</textarea> </label> </BODY> </HTML>

  • CSS selector not resolved when using UI Binder

    - by Zhaidarbek
    Basically, I am building a horizontal navigation bar. I have following markup: <ui:style src="../common.css" type="client.resources.HomeResources.Style"> @external gwt-Anchor; .gwt-Anchor { text-decoration: none; } </ui:style> <g:HTMLPanel styleName="navbar"> <ul> <li><g:Anchor ></g:Anchor> |</li> <li><g:Anchor ></g:Anchor> |</li> <li><g:Anchor ></g:Anchor> |</li> <li><g:Anchor ></g:Anchor> |</li> <li><g:Anchor ></g:Anchor> |</li> <li><g:Anchor ></g:Anchor> |</li> <li><g:Anchor ></g:Anchor></li> </ul> common.css has following rules: ul { margin: 0; padding: 0; text-align: left; font-weight: bold; line-height: 25px; } ul li { display: inline; text-align: right; } ul li a { color: #0077C0; font-size: 12px; margin-right: 15px; padding: 4px 0 4px 5px; text-decoration: none; } ul li a:HOVER { color: #F0721C; } When using rules as defined above, everything works perfect. The problem is that I have ul elements in other parts of page, so I've added div.navbar before each rule like this: div.navbar ul{} div.navbar ul li{} etc... But those rules are not applied to ul elements inside UI Binder template. What's wrong with my code? Here is the generated HTML (normally on one line): <div class="navbar"><ul> <li><a class="gwt-Anchor">Item 1</a> |</li> <li><a class="gwt-Anchor">Item 2</a> |</li> <li><a class="gwt-Anchor">Item 3</a></li> </ul></div> RESOLVED styleName="navbar" must be styleName="{style.navbar}"

  • jQuery UI - Draggable is not a function?

    - by Dan
    Hi, I've trying to use the draggable effect on some divs on a page, but whenever I load the page, I get the error message: Error: $(".draggable").draggable is not a function I've had a look around it seemed other people were having this problem as they had not included the jQuery UI javascript file, but I definitely have. The following is within the head tag of my page: <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.1/jquery.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.8.1/jquery-ui.min.js"></script> Can anyone suggest a solution? Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

  • Connect sortable lists together and update SQL using jQuery UI

    - by rebellion
    I'm using jQuery UI's sortable lists to sort items in a todo list, and the reordering of the lists works like a charm. I have several UL lists for each todo category, i.e. Design, Development, etc. I want to be able to move an item from one category to another, and jQuery UI's sortable lists plugin allows me to do this with the connectWith option parameter. But I can't seem to find how to update the database as well. The todo database table has a field for a reference to the category which is laying in it's own table. This is the current code: $('.sortable').sortable({ axis: 'y', opacity: .5, cancel: '.no-tasks', connectWith: '.sortable', update: function(){ $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: basepath + 'task/sort_list', data: $(this).sortable('serialize') }); } }); Do I need to add another value to the AJAX's data parameter, or do the sortable plugin this for me in the serialize function?

  • Choosing an application server for web application development

    - by harigm
    My manager has asked me to suggest an application server for web application development work. What are the factors that needs to be considered before we select any application server for web application development in Java J2EE development? If I select one now and IN future and I want to change to some other application server, is that minimum effort to change?

  • TreeView nodes always have .Checked=true on postback even when not checked in UI

    - by GISmatters
    I have a treeview in my .aspx: <asp:TreeView ID="tvDocCatAndType" runat="server" /> Not much else going on in the page -- two <asp:LinkButtons> and one <asp:Label>; the page is a child of a master page, so these controls are within a <asp:Content> control. I populate the treeview in code -- just 3 node levels, including the root node. All nodes have checkboxes, and I initialize all node.Checked to true. I have some Javascript to do the usual check/uncheck up and down the tree as parent and child node checkboxes are toggled. No matter how many checkboxes I clear in the UI, on postback every single node has node.Checked = true regardless of the state of the checkbox in the UI. This is not the first time I've used a treeview, but I've never had this problem before. I created this page by light adaptation of an earlier project that works fine. Thanks in advance for any helpful comments or questions, Chris

  • Replicating MySQL DB to development machine - bad idea?

    - by Joel
    I am considering replicating a production MySQL database to my development machine so I've always got current data. The production database is externally hosted. My development machine is behind an unreliable internet connection. It is entirely possible that the development machine could be disconnected from the internet for extended periods of time (hours). Would there be any adverse effect on the production database by doing this? (I don't strictly need live data - but it would be nice, and good excuse to dabble with replication. If the consensus is that this is a bad idea, I'll set up a daily job to import the previous night's backup into my development database)

  • jQuery multiple themes on one page

    - by lloydphillips
    This is driving me NUTS! I've followed the post here which just doesn't seem to be working: http://www.filamentgroup.com/lab/using_multiple_jquery_ui_themes_on_a_single_page/ I have a base theme, for examples sake it's the Smoothness theme from the jQuery UI gallery. Then I have a 'red' theme which basically colours the buttons red. Here is the theme I created. So I go to download my theme. Choose Advanced settings, set the scope to 'red' and my theme folder name to 'red' and download. First of all I'm not entirely 100% sure which folder I'm to copy over to my project is it the 'development-bundle\themes' folder (which contains my red folder) or the '\css\red' folder? I've tried both. The post above seems to suggest if I copy my themes folder and link to my theme in the css it'll work when I add a class of 'red' to a wrapper div or element. So I've linked the themes like so in my file: <link type="text/css" href="themes/base/jquery.ui.all.css" rel="stylesheet" /> <link type="text/css" href="themes/red/jquery.ui.all.css" rel="stylesheet" /> The base theme loads and works all honkey doorey but the red theme doesn't. I've got a button styled like so: <input type="submit" id="btn" value="A submit button" class="red" /> I've also tried: <div class="red"> <input type="submit" id="btn" value="A submit button" /> </div> Neither work. When I remove the 'themes/base/jquery.ui.all.css' css file link the button's aren't styled at all. Crazy! I'm pulling my hair out. Where am I going wrong? Surely they should just make it easy enough to download JUST the theme folder and reference the ui.all file.

  • How to trigger a postback using JQuery Droppable plugin ?

    - by Sandeep K Ram
    Hi, This is my script for the draggable and droppable <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { $(".Source li").draggable({ appendTo: "body", helper: "clone", revert: "invalid" }); $(".Destination ").droppable({ activeClass: "ui-state-default", hoverClass: "ui-state-hover", accept: ".Source li", drop: function(event, ui) { $(this).find(".placeholder").remove(); $("#Hf1").val(ui.draggable.text()); $("#TxtItemId").val($("#Hf1").val()); } }); }); </script> Now I want to access the value of the "TxtItemId" control in the code-behind through a postback. How do I go about doing this ? BTW, this is for a scenario where a person will drag an item from a panel into a shopping cart and I need to capture the Id of the dropped item and trigger a postback after the drop to update the quantity of that item in the cart.
