  • Open source equivelants to VS / web reference proxy classes?

    As an ASP.NET developer, I'm used to working with how VS/C# transparently autogens proxy classes for web references (yes, I know, we're spoiled), but now that I'm creating documentation for more than one coding platform I'm trying to discover what the equivelant to that is in any other framework. So is there a similar way to work transparently with web reference proxy classes for say, RoR, PHP, and Python? And if there's nothing integrated, are there tools you recommend to autogen the proxy classes, or do you recommend to roll custom classes?

    One of the downsides of web.config/app.config is that it's just Magic Strings everywhere, since it's just an XML file. Interpreted languages like PHP or Ruby have the advantage that the configuration is just code that is executed. In .net, doing stuff in code requires a redeployment, which defeats the purpose. Now, before I build my own web.config replacement based on Boo or PowerShell I wanted to know if there is an existing one?

  • Can Apache httpd be made to log errors to console instead of log files?

    I'm doing infrequent development with Apache/PHP on my Windows machine so I've opted to run apache as a console process instead of a service. It would be nice if errors could be logged to the console window instead of a logfile so I can see them immediately. Can this be done somehow? It doesn't seem that apache has such a capability built in and I can't find a mod that would do this either.

  • Adobe Air: Is it possible to save files to a network path (osx)

    I was wondering if it would be possible to write a file, not to the local system, but to a connected server or other network path.   • how do I use mod_rewrite for just one file?

    I want to use mod-rewrite for just one file instance: www.domain.com/contact to pull from www.domain.com/contact.php I used a rewrite rule for all files that look like a directory to do this initially but it messed up some diretory redirects I created so in the short-term, I'd rather just do it for a specific file.     I recently created around 700 attributes through script, all attributes look fine at backend. But when I reindex, I get following error: exception 'PDOException' with message 'SQLSTATE[42S22]: Column not found: 1054 Unknown column 'e.additional_information_s' in 'field list'' in /lib/Zend/Db/Statement/Pdo.php:228 Note: this attribtue exist in Database (eav_attribtue) table.     Let's say I have a table called my_table that looks like this: id | name | parent_id 1 | Row 1 | NULL 2 | Row 2 | NULL 3 | Row 3 | 1 4 | Row 4 | 1 5 | Row 5 | NULL 6 | Row 6 | NULL 7 | Row 7 | 8 8 | Row 8 | NULL 9 | Row 9 | 4 10 | Row 10 | 4 Basically I want my final array in PHP to look like this: Array ( [0] => Array ( [name] => Row 1 [children] => Array ( [0] => Array ( [name] => Row 3 [children] => ) [1] => Array ( [name] => Row 4 [children] => Array ( [0] => Array ( [name] => Row 9 [children] => ) [1] => Array ( [name] => Row 10 [children] => ) ) ) ) ) [1] => Array ( [name] => Row 2 [children] => ) [2] => Array ( [name] => Row 5 [children] => ) [3] => Array ( [name] => Row 6 [children] => ) [4] => Array ( [name] => Row 8 [children] => Array ( [0] => Array ( [name] => Row 7 [children] => ) ) ) ) So, I want it to get all of the rows where parent_id is null, then find all nested children recursively. Now here's the part that I'm having trouble with: How can this be done with 1 call to the database? I'm sure I could do it with a simple select statement and then have PHP make the array look like this but I'm hoping this can be done with some kind of fancy db joining or something like that. Any takers?

    With jQuery I'm retrieving positions of a sortable list using 'serialize', like this: var order = $('ul').sortable('serialize'); The variable 'order' then receives the following: id[]=2&id[]=3&id[]=1&id[]=4&id[]=5 Now how can I use this data in an ajax call? This is how I plan to do it, but it's ugly and I can't change the parameter name 'id': $.post('ajax.php?'+order,{action:'updateOrder'}); Maybe I need to unserialize, then implode the variable 'order' and assign it to just one parameter?
