  Hello On Linux it is possible to create an a manual IPSec (no IKE etc) tunnel thus: spdadd 192.168.0.10/32[5066] 192.168.0.11/32[5064] udp -P in ipsec esp/transport//require; add 192.168.0.10 192.168.0.11 esp 2222 -m transport -E des-ede3-cbc "123456789012123456789012" -A hmac-md5 "1234567890123456"; I need to do the same on Windows. I am aware of netsh but I don't think its equivalent, I need to specific the SPI (thats the 2222 above) and this seems impossible. Any ideas or alternatives?! Thanks, Stuart.

• Need IPSec help on Windows 2003

  Hey guys, I am trying to configure IPSec between a web and app server in our environment. I want all traffic between these two servers to use IPsec and be encrypted. These servers are on the same domain so i am currently using Kerebos for security, I have also tried pre-defined keys and nothing changed. When I try and ping between the servers I get "Negotiating IP Security" everytime. I have also confirmed that when I change "Require Security" to "Permit" everything works so IPSec is working, I believe its something with my security setup. Under the security tab both servers have the default 3DES keys first and then DES keys. I have also specified tunnel endpoints (the alternate server's IP). What am I missing? Thanks for any help..

• Change the location of the System Temp directory on Windows 2003 Server

  In order to update an application on a Windows 2003 Server box, the application calls for 2.0 GB of free space in the System's Temp directory. The OS is on C:\ , and there is only 1 GB of free space there.... The server has a RAID configuration for its data on the system's E:\ . There is over 100GB of free space on E:\ . When I did a set tmp I found that the system's TEMP directory is not surprisingly located on C:\ .... TMP = C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1.DES\LOCALS~1\Temp I assume it is possible to change the System Temp directory to the be located on E:\ ? How is this done, where's a good place to stick it, and is it safe to do this ?

• Root certificate authority works windows/linux but not mac osx - (malformed)

  I have created a self-signed root certificate authority which if I install onto windows, linux, or even using the certificate store in firefox (windows/linux/macosx) will work perfectly with my terminating proxy. I have installed it into the system keychain and I have set the certificate to always trust. Within the chrome browser details it says "The certificate that Chrome received during this connection attempt is not formatted correctly, so Chrome cannot use it to protect your information. Error type: Malformed certificate" I used this code to create the certificate: openssl genrsa -des3 -passout pass:***** -out private/server.key 4096 openssl req -batch -passin pass:***** -new -x509 -nodes -sha1 -days 3600 -key private/server.key -out server.crt -config ../openssl.cnf If the issue is NOT that it is malformed (because it works everywhere else) then what else could it be? Am I installing it incorrectly? • IIS 6.0 mitigating BEAST

  Recently, my PCI assessor informed me that my servers are vulnerable to BEAST and failed me. I did my homework and I want to change our webservers to prefer RC4 ciphers over CBC. I followed every guide I could find... I changed my reg keys for my weaker than 128bit encryption to Enabled = 0. completely removed the reg keys for the weaker encryptions. I downloaded IISCrypto and unchecked everything but RC4 128 ciphers and triple DES 168. My webserver still prefers AES-256SHA. Is there a trick in IIS 6.0 to get your webservers to prefer RC4 ciphers that I am not figuring out? It seems like in IIS 7 they made this very easy to fix but that doesn't help me now!

Où est la nouvelle version d'opensolaris 2010.02 ou 2010.03 promise alors que nous sommes au mois de mai? On se paye notre tête? Le temps s'est-il arrété pour Oracle en juin 2009 avec la version 2009.06 plutot expérimentale? Quand à solaris, il vaut mieux peut-être ne pas rentrer dans les détails: Les dirigants d'oracles pensent-ils qu'on peut travailler avec un système qui ne donne de drivers ni pour l'essentiel des cartes graphiques, ni pour les cartes réseaux, ... Mesieurs, nous sommes en 2010; heuresement qu'il y'a free BSD et les différents Linux pour nous permettre réellement de travailler sur nos machines et de produire au lieu de gaspiller notre temps avec vos svcs, svcsadm, ... de merde!

• web grid server pagination trigger multiple controller call when changing page

  When I server-filter on "au" my web grid and change page, multiple call to the controller are done : the first with 0 filtering, the second with "a" filtering, the third with "au" filtering. My table load huge data so the first call is longer than others. I see the grid displaying firstly the third call result, then the second, and finally the first call (this order correspond to the response time of my controller due to filter parameter) Why are all that controller call made ? Can't just my controller be called once with my total filter "au" ? What should I do ? • TripleDES in Perl/PHP/ColdFusion

  Recently a problem arose regarding hooking up an API with a payment processor who were requesting a string to be encrypted to be used as a token, using the TripleDES standard. Our Applications run using ColdFusion, which has an Encrypt tag - that supports TripleDES - however the result we were getting back was not what the payment processor expected. First of all, here is the resulting token the payment processor were expecting. Seeking a solution, we ditched ColdFusion for this process and attempted to reproduce the token in PHP. Now I'm aware that various languages implement encryption in different ways - for example in the past managing encryption between a C# application and PHP back-end, I've had to play about with padding in order to get the two to talk, but my experience has been that PHP generally behaves when it comes to encryption standards. Anyway, on to the PHP source we tried, and the resulting string. /* PHP Circus (here be Elephants) */ $theKey="123412341234123412341234"; $theString="username=test123"; $strEncodedEnc=base64_encode(mcrypt_ecb (MCRYPT_3DES, $theKey, $theString, MCRYPT_ENCRYPT)); /* resulting string(strEncodedEnc): sfiSu4mVggia8Ysw98x0uw== */ As you can plainly see, we've got another string that differs from both the string expected by the payment processor AND the one produced by ColdFusion. Cue head-against-wall integration techniques. After many to-and-fro communications with the payment processor (lots and lots of reps stating 'we can't help with coding issues, you must be doing it incorrectly, read the manual') we were finally escalated to someone with more than a couple of brain-cells to rub together, who was able to step back and actually look at and diagnose the issue. He agreed, our CF and PHP attempts were not resulting in the correct string. After a quick search, he also agreed that it was not neccesarily our source, but rather how the two languages implemented their vision of the TripleDES standard. Coming into the office this morning, we were met by an email with a snippet of source code, in Perl. Three languages, three implementations of what they quote in the documentation as TripleDES Standard Encryption, and three totally different resulting strings. My question is, from your experience of these three languages and their implementations of the TripleDES algorithm, have you been able to get any two of them to give the same response, and if so what tweaks to the code did you have to make in order to come to the result? I understand this is a very drawn out question, but I wanted to give clear and precise setting for each stage of testing that we had to perform. I'll also be performing some more investigatory work on this subject later, and will post any findings that I come up with to this question, so that others may avoid this headache.

  Am 28.5 findet in Köln die dotnet Cologne 2010 statt, eine von der .NET User Group Köln und der von mir geleiteten Gruppe Bonn-to-Code.Net gemeinsam organisierten Konferenz zum Launch von Visual Studio 2010 und .NET Framework 4. Die Registrierung ist seit Anfang März möglich, und obwohl es bisher kaum konkrete Details zu den Sprechern und Vorträgen gab, haben sich bereits über 250 Teilnehmer angemeldet. Das zeugt von hervorragender Mund-zu-Mund-Propaganda, nicht zuletzt ein klares Zeichen für den Erfolg der letztjährigen dotnet Cologne 2009. Hinter den Kulissen brach ein wahrer Sturm von Vortragsvorschlägen über das Orga-Team (bestehend aus Stefan Lange, Albert Weinert und mir) herein. In mehreren Runden versuchten wir, die richtige Mischung zwischen einführenden und tiefgehenden Themen zu finden. Dabei wurde schnell klar, dass wir nicht mit den ursprünglich geplanten drei Tracks auskommen würden. Deshalb haben wir nach reiflicher Überlegung einen vierten Track eingerichtet, darüber hinaus bieten wir - nach dem Vorbild anderer Konferenzen - dieses Jahr auch Lunch-Sessions an. Seit heute steht nun ein Großteil der Vorträge offiziell fest, nur noch einige wenige Slots sind noch frei. Wer bisher mit der Anmeldung gezögert hat, sollte schnell einen Blick hineinwerfen und sich entscheiden. Denn ab einer der Marke von 300 Teilnehmern wird eine Warteliste eingerichtet. Zwar werden erfahrungsgemäß später einige Plätze wieder frei, aber wer ganz sicher einen Platz bei der dotnet Cologne 2010 haben möchte, sollte sich bald anmelden. Denn: Ein ganzer Tag vollgepackt mit Informationen, viele bekannte Namen der deutschen .NET-Community nicht nur auf der Sprecherliste-, sondern auch unter den Teilnehmern – und am Abend dann noch die Grillfete des dotnet Forum. Wer da nicht dabei ist, der wird wird echt etwas verpassen…

• TU Berlin wurde mit Oracle Spatial Excellence Award ausgezeichnet

  An der TU Berlin befasst sich das Institut für Geodesie und Geoinformationstechnik von Prof. Thomas Kolbe seit Jahren mit der Verwaltung und Analyse von raumbezogenen Daten in Oracle Spatial. Im Rahmen der diesjährigen Oracle Spatial User Conference in Washington wurden er und sein Team für die herausragenden Ergebnisse der Forschungsarbeiten im Bereich der 3-dimensionalen Stadt- und Geländemodelle ausgezeichnet. Insbesondere die Entwicklung der 3D City Database (3DCityDB), die die Erstellung von virtuellen 3D Stadtmodellen auf Basis von Oracle ermöglicht, sowie das Engagement in der Verbreitung und Weiterentwicklung des CityGML Standards, wurden gewürdigt. Die 3DCityDB mit ihrem Datenbankschema und den zugehörigen Tools steht als Open Source zur Verfügung und wird bereits international in zahlreichen Projekten eingesetzt. Interessiert? "Einführung in MATLAB", "Strömungssimulation", "Werkstoffe für Mikro- und Nanotechnik" bieten interessante Möglichkeiten zur fachlichen Weiterbildung. • SüdLeasing reduziert mit e-Lease auf SOA-Basis Verwaltungskosten um über 1,5 Mio. Euro

  Mit dem SüdLeasing Projekt e-Lease (electronic leasing process) wurde laut Dr. Buchacker eine maßgeschneiderte, exzellent ausbaufähige „Zukunftsplattform" geschaffen. Die Geschäftsprozesse des Unternehmens wurden gemeinsam mit Oracle und dem langjährigen Oracle Partner PROMATIS auf der neuen Plattform einheitlich abgebildet und verschlankt. Dabei wurden auch bestehende Legacy-Systeme einbezogen. Heute werden auf dieser Oracle basierten service-orientierten Architektur (SOA) die betrieblichen Abläufe automatisiert, optimiert und flexibel weiterentwickelt. Zunächst stand das Finanzdienstleistungsunternehmen vor der Herausforderung unternehmensweit die Durchlaufzeiten, die Kooperation und den Service durch Business Process Streamlining zu verbessern. Neben Einsparungen bei Aktenordnern, Ablagematerialien und bei der Archivierung sollten vor allem die Abteilungen „Markt" und „Marktfolge" mittels einer durchgängigen IT-Unterstützung der Arbeitsabläufe besser ineinander greifen. Parallel dazu beabsichtigte man durch sukzessive Entlastung der Mitarbeiter in den drei Haupt- und Bearbeitungsstandorten sowie in den 19 Vertriebsniederlassungen zusätzliche Kapazitäten zu gewinnen. Bereits kurz nach der Einführung von e-Lease in 2008 hatten sich die Verwaltungskosten in der SüdLeasing Zentrale um rund 1,5 Mio. Euro reduziert.   Eine versehentlich gelöschte APEX-Anwendung lässt sich tatsächlich wiederherstellen; allerdings darf seit dem Löschen nicht allzuviel Zeit vergangen sein. Grundlage ist die Möglichkeit, Flashback-Funktionen beim Anwendungsexport zu nutzen. Doch wie soll man die zu exportierende Anwendung einstellen ...? In der Auswahlliste für die zu exportierende Anwendung fehlt sie natürlich, denn sie ist ja gelöscht. Hier hilft ein Trick: Legen Sie einfach eine neue Anwendung an - diese muss die gleiche ID haben, wie die, die versehentlich gelöscht wurde. Und voilá: Nun können Sie die Anwendung auswählen; tragen Sie bei As Of soviele Minuten ein, dass der Export zu einer Zeit stattfindet, als die "alte" Anwendung noch da war und exportieren Sie. Sie erhalten die verlorene Anwendung zurück. Wie weit Sie "in die Vergangenheit" zurückkommen, hängt von der Konfiguration des Datenbankservers (hier: der UNDO-Tablespace) durch den Administrator ab. Realistisch sind meist 10 bis 30 Minuten. Wenn Sie APEX-Entwicklungsstände auch über längere Zeiträume hinweg wiederherstellen möchten, bietet sich der regelmäßige, skriptgesteuerte Export per Kommandozeile und das Einchecken der Exportdateien in ein Versionskonstrollsystem an.
