    Hi. I am using a PostgreSQL database, and in a table representing some measurements I've two columns: measurement, and interpolated. In the first I've the observation (measurement), and b is the interpolated value depending on nearby values. Every record with an original value has also an interpolated value. However, there are a lot of records without "original" observations (NULL), hence the values are interpolated and stored in the second column. So basically there are just two cases in the database: Value Value NULL Value Of course, it is preferable to use the value from the first column if available, hence I need to build a query to select the data from the first column, and if not available (NULL), then the database returns the value from the second column for the record in question. I have no idea how to build the SQL query. Please help. Thanks.

    I needed some coordinates for a HTML MAP and tried to use inkskape by opening the image and just draw a path with my polygon coordinates. The original image The SVG file from inkscape Link to SVG Progress: I tried a tool called InkscapeMap which looks promising and simple, but unfortunately it looks like it didn't work with this particular svn file. Solved! Saving the file as a Plain SVG solved the problem and InkscapeMap worked perfectly. (Btw. saving as an optimized svg caused a parsing error) Update 13.11 Using inkscapeMap 0.6 and Inkscape 0.48 i needed to uncheck relative coordinates in SVG output preferences. Also if you get a C error message, hunt down the polygon with a C in it, and redraw the polygon using the XML editor in inkscape.     It was time to upgrade our group server (new HDs, problems with old installation of DRBD, etc..). Going as usually for CentOS i upgraded whole system from 6.3 to 6.4 The later one came with samba 3.6 as the old one was 3.5. I transferred most of users by copying /etc/password, /etc/shadow and samba accounts with pdbedit. Homes were on nfs-drive. The translation of unix accounts to samba accounts are located in /etc/samba/smbusers. Strangely enough on some windows clients there was problem to connect to samba-shares. In one case the only thing that worked was, instead of giving windows name, to use the unix account. In another one, it was possible to mount network drive and to open it in Windows Explorer, however other applications like "Total commander" at the attempt of opening this drive gave the message "Cannot connect to z:" (sometimes at this moment user/pass were requested). The smb.conf has following entries: [global] security = user passdb backend = tdbsam username map = /etc/samba/smbusers ... [Kris] comment = Kris's Private path = /SMB/Users/Kris writeable = yes read only = no browseable = yes users = krisr printable = no security mask = 0777 force security mode = 0 directory security mask = 0777 force directory security mode = 0 force create mode = 0775 force directory mode = 6775 The smbusers: # Unix_name = SMB_name1 SMB_name2 ... krisr = Kris Of course testparm runs without any errors. I was used from samba 3.5 to outputs of form Mapped user Kris to krisr. Nothing like this happens now. Just message check_sam_security: Couldn't find user Kris in passdb. I read on web that some guys had problem with 3.6 and security = ADS, but these were not helpful for me.   • AD User Passwords expiring without any notifications?

    We setup password Policies in Active Directory to Expire peoples passwords after so many days. Well it looks like the time has come for the Expiration of the Passwords and people are getting locked out... There has been no warning of user passwords about to expire. They just come in to work and they cannot log in, the phones no longer connect, nothing. Reset the password and all is good. Some of the users are locked out, though most are not, they just cannot log in. On setting the password Expiration, I didn't see anything about nor warning the users of the impending expiration. Seems like it used to warn you 15 days or so before it would expire. Clients range from: WinXP, WinVista, Win7 and Server 2008R2 Remote Desktop Services. How can I make sure my users are warned of the Expiration?   • Windows : Map-a-network-drive to a remote Shared-Folder (on QNAP NAS) using OpenVPN

    Provided my lack of networking knowledge, I've been struggling with this issue for quite a few days now : I have a QNAP-TS212 NAS on which i've created a shared-folder (mostly excel files). All the computers in the local network (windows) are able to access it without any problem. Now, i want to access that shared-folder remotely (windows client), so : I enabled OpenVPN (and PPTP) in QNAP admin. Installed OpenVPN on the remote client. Applied the configuration file that the QNAP generated - Configuration (openvpn.ovpn) : client dev tun script-security 3 proto udp remote ***MY_WAN_IP*** 1194 resolv-retry infinite nobind ca ca.crt auth-user-pass reneg-sec 0 cipher AES-128-CBC comp-lzo OpenVPN connect successfully from the remote client. Now, here's my problem : I can ping the NAS (got IP 10.8.0.1) from the remote client, But when i try to map-a-network-drive, i don't see the shared folder or the NAS or any of the other computers in the network... I checked - all computers are in "WORKGROUP" workgroup. I'm probably missing some basic knowledge, So - any help would be greatly appreciated ! Many thanks.

    I've rebuild my website in Ruby on Rails and now I want to 301 redirect a lot of old urls using Nginx's http://wiki.nginx.org/HttpMapModule For some reason I can't get it to work. It works fine without the rewrite ^ $new permanent; line. Does anyone see what I'm missing?   • domain user disabling screensaver

    I have the following situation: Due to security reasons the screensaver is activated after 10 minutes, and immediately locks the screen. There are GPOs preventing the user from changing the screensaver parameters and the background image. In order to bypass the background policy, some users are using bginfo The problem is that for some reason now the screensaver doesn't work anymore. The settings are still the same (10 minutes; locked to the user) and comparing snapshots of the registry before and after executing bginfo doesn't show any significant modification. Any hints? EDIT 1: Ok, i figured whats going on, but now i have another question. bginfo refreshes the user settings by reading HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop, which has ScreenSaveActive. If the user set it to 0, disables the screensaver. Why isnt HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Control Panel\Desktop, which sets ScreenSaveActive to 1, being enforced? or if it is being enforced, where is bginfo storing the value 0, and how can it bypass the policy? EDIT 2: I also discovered that after setting any value to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\ScreenSaveActive, it can be deleted and the last value will remain active. For some reason HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Control Panel\Desktop\ScreenSaveActive value is not being enforced to the user.

    I have the following situation, and I need some help to setup properly I have two VPS (hosted with the same provider, maximumasp). Server A is 2008R2, set with WORKGROUP, and server B is 2012, set with domain, maximumasp.local. On server A I have an old web app, which uses a special folder, c:\MyUploads, to store uploaded files. App is using this using an appSetting. It will be kept running for a while for safety / compatibility reasons. I installed a new version of the application on server B, running under AppPoolIdentity. Both instances of the app (A and B) will connect to the same database, so I need them to share also the access to upload folder c:\MyUploads. How should I setup the app on machine B to access the folder c:\MyUploads ? My idea is to share the folder as \A\MyUploads, and then map it to server B. But the problem is, I don't know to give Read/write to c:\MyUploads on machine A to IIS AppPools\ on machine B I was trying a test, and shared the c:\MyUploads to Everyone, ReadWrite. I was able to access it from machine B using \\MyUploads But when app from machine B tried to access a file, it gave error. Any idea how can I accomplish this? Some advice on best practices for such situation would be great. Thank you

    I did it and i am going to explain step by step. The explanatination may appear long but its simple if you follow. Note: All the softwares i have used are the latest and i have packaged them and provided them in the link below. I use Nokia N96 1) RootSign smartComGPS and install it on your phone(i havent provided the signer so that u wuld do some little work. i used Secman' rootsign). 2) Install Universal Maps Downloader, SmartCom OGF2 converter and OziExplorer 3.95.4s on my PC. a) UMD is used to download map tiles from any map source like googlemaps,opensourcemaps etc... and also combine the tiles into an image file like png,jpg,bmp etc... b) SmartCom OGF2 converter is used to convert the image file into a format usable on your mobile phone. c) OziExplorer will help you to calibrate the usable map file so that it can be used with GPS on your mobile phone without the use of internet. 3) Go to google maps or where u pick your maps and pan to the area of your interest. Zoom the map to at least 15 or 16 zoom level where you can see your area clearly and the streets. 4) copy this script in a notepad file and save it on your desktop: javascript:void(prompt('',gApplication.getMap().ge tCenter())); 5) Open the universal maps downloader. You will notice that you are required to add the: left longitude, right longitude,top latitude, bottom latitude. 6) On your map in google maps, doubleclick on the your prefered to most middle point. you will notice that the map will center in that area. 7) copy the script and paste it in the address bar then press enter. You will notice that a dialog with your (top latitude) and longitude respectively pops up. 8) copy the top latitude ONLY and paste it in the corresponding textbox in the UMD. 9) repeat steps 6-7 for the botton latitude. 10)repeat steps 6-7 for left longitude and right longitude too, but u have to copy the longitudes here. (***BTW record these points in the text file as they may be needed later in calibration) 11) Give the zoom level to the same zoom level that you prefered in google maps. 12) Dont forget to choose a path to save your files and under options set the proxy connection settings in UMD if you are using so. 13) Click on start and bingo! there you have your image tiles and a file with an extension .umd will be saved in the same folder. 14) On the UMD, go to tools, click on MapViewer and choose the .umd file. you will now see your map in one piece....and you will smile! 15) Still go to tools and click on map combiner. A dialog will popup for you to choose the .umd file and to enter the IMAGE file name. u can use another extension for the image file like png, jpg etc...i usually use png. 16) Combine.....bingo! there u go! u have an IMAGE file for your map. *I SUGGEST THAT CREATE A .BMP FILE and A .PNG file* 17) Close UMD and open SmartCom OGF2 converter. 18) Choose your .png image and create an ogf2 file. 19) Connect your phone to your PC in Mass Memory mode and transfer the file to the smartComGPS\Maps folder. 20) Now disconnect your phone and load smartComGPS. it will load the map and propt you to add a calibration point. Go ahead and add one calibration point with dummy coordinates. You will notice that it will add another file with extension .map in the smartComGPS\Maps folder. 21) Connect yiur ohone and copy that file and paste it in your working folder on your PC. Delete that .map file from the phone too because you are going to edit it from your PC and put it back. 22) Now Open the OziExplorer, go to file-->Load and Calibrate Map Image. 23) Choose the .bmp image and bingo! it will load with your map in the same zoom level. 24) Now you are going to calibrate. Use the MapView window and take the small box locater to all the 4 cornners of the map. You will notice that the map in the back ground moves to that area too. 25)On the right side, select the Point1 tab. Now you are in calibration mode. Now move the red box in mapview in the left upper corner to calibrate point1. 26) out of mapview go to the the left upper corner of the background map and choose poit (0,0) and your 1st calibration point. You will notice that these X,Y cordinated will be reflected in the Point1 image cordinates. 27) now go back to the text file where you saved your coordibates and enter the top latitude and the left longitude in the corresponding places. 28) Repeat steps 25-27 for point2,point3,point4 and click on save. Thats it, you have calibrated your image and you are about to finish. 29) Go to save and a dilaog which prompts you to save a .map file will poop up. Do save the map file in your working folder. 30) Right click that .map file and edit the filename in the .map file to remove the pc's directory structure. Eg. Change C\OziExplorer\data\Kampala.bmp to Kampala.ogf2. 31) Save the .map file in the smartComGPS\Maps folder on your phone. 32) now open smartComGPS on your phone and bingo! there is your map with GPS capability and in the same zoom level. 33) In smartComGPS options, choose connect and simulate. By now you should be smiling. Whoa!
