• How to flush output after each `echo` call?

  Hi all! I've a php script that only produces logs to the client. When I echo something, i wan't it to be transfered to client on-the-fly. (Because while the script is processing, the page is blank) I had already played arround with ob_start() and ob_flush(), but they didn't worked. What's the best solution? PS: it is a little dirty to put a flush at the end of the echo call... EDIT: Neither the Answers worked, PHP or Apache Fault? Thanks in advance, José Moreira Sorry for my bad English. ;)

• How can I find the nearest intersection via the Google Maps API?

  How can I find the closest intersection of the street I have coordinates of? For instance, say I have street A running from south to north that is crossed by street X on the north and by street Y on the south. Does the Google Maps API allow for finding coordinates of the nearest crossroad (either X or Y) of street A? I couldn't find it mentioned anywhere. PS: The only solution I am aware of is to guess the lowest number and the highest number of building on the street A and to draw polyline between them. I am not sure about this though.

• Is there any framework for Windows Forms, DB driven application development/prototyping?

  I'm writing simple database driven application, 80% of functionality is CRUD operations on about 15 tables. Coming from web development background I figured I can cover almost all of these CRUD cases with Rails scaffolding or say Django admins. So I started to look around for Rails/Django-like framework but for Windows Forms applications (ofcourse I understand that "rich client" application development significantly differs from a web development and I'm not expecting anything really similar). I was surprised that except for a variety of ORMs (let's call it Model-layer) it seems like I'm left with little choice when it comes to View-Controller layer. Maybe I'm missing something? PS. I evaluated Visual Studio DataSet Designer, but it seems to work only for the most simple cases, and requires additional code for any slightly nontrivial task. • Remove unnecessary svn:mergeinfo properties

  When I merge stuff in my repository Subversion wants to add/change a lot of svn:mergeinfo properties to files that are totally unrelated to the things that I want to merge. Questions about this behaviour have been asked before here on Stackoverflow.com, as you can read here and here. From what I understand from the topics mentioned above it looks like a lot of files in my repository have explicit svn:mergeinfo properties on them, when they shouldn't. The advice is to reduce the amount and only put those properties on relevant files/folders. So now my question: how can I easily remove those unneeded properties? I'm using TortoiseSVN, but am reluctant to manually check/fix hundreds of files. Is there an easier way to remove those unnecessary svn:mergeinfo properties? P.S. I'm not looking for C++ SVN API code.

• "digg" button and encoded url :S

  Hi! I wrote a php site (it's still a prototype) and i placed a "Digg" button. Placing the button was easy but.... Official manual says "url has to be encoded". I did that with urlencode(). After urlencode, my url looks like this: http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mysite.com%2Fen%2Fredirect.php%3Fl%3Dhttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.othersite.rs%2FNews%2FWorld%2F227040%2FRusia-Airplane-crashed%26N%3DRusia%3A+Airplane+crashed So far, so good but when i want to submit that url to digg, it is recognized as invalid url: http://www.mysite.com/en/redirect.php?l=http://www.othersite.rs/News/World/227040/Rusia-Airplane-crashed&N=Rusia:+Airplane crashed If i place a "+" between "Airplane" and "crashed" (mere end of a link), then digg recognize it without any problems! Please help, this bizare problem is killing my braincells! P.S. for purpose of this answer urls are changed (nonexisting) because, in original, non-english sites are involved P.S.S.   I'm new to PHP, and it appears that the way I learn the fastest is to study a new language a well developed complete program (or website, in this case) changing stuff seeing what happens and consulting books. There are lots of recommendations of books all around, and that's pretty much covered. I'd like to find the sourcecode of a website. Either a well known, well developed open-source website, or a sample sourcecode of a complete website (maybe one used in a book or something). Everyone says they should find the way they learn better.. Well, that's mine. PS.: By complete I mean having several common functionalities (such as login), database connection, use of security conventions, maybe a popular framework, and being up-to-date.

• iPhone UITableViewCell: repositioning the textLabel

  Hello, I am new to iPhone development and I am currently working on a simple RSS reader app. The problem I am having is that I need to reposition the textLabel inside the UITableViewCells. I have tried setFrame or setCenter but it doesn't do anything. Does anyone know what I need to do inside the tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath: method to reposition the textLabel at the top of the cell (x = 0, y = 0)? Thank you PS: The UITableViewCell is referenced by a variable called cell. I have tried [cell setFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 20)] with no success.

• generate images with labels from a database

  hi there I need to have some images into my database, and the thing is that i need that images to have certain file names, dimensions and text on it. I know how to generate some images using the opencv lib, but this means that i need to install the lib and do just that job(which sounds as reinventing the wheel). Do you think is worth to do that or maybe you have a better idea? ps: the images are for testing stage of a software application, so i don;t need anything fancy or artistic.

Since I haven't found a solution yet I thought I tried something else in the meantime: search for every <a href= and copy whatever is there until I hit a </a>. Now, my C is a bit rusty but I do remember i can use strstr() to get the first instance of that string, but how do I get the rest? Any help is appreciated. PS: No. This is not homework on school or something like that. Just so you know.

• C# WebClient - View source question

  I'm using a C# WebClient to post login details to a page and read the all the results. The page I am trying to load includes flash (which, in the browser, translates into HTML). I'm guessing it's flash to avoid being picked up by search engines??? The flash I am interested in is just text (not an image/video) etc and when I "View Selection Source" in firefox I do actually see the text, within HTML, that I want to see. (Interestingly when I view the source for the whole page I do not see the text, within HTML, that I want to see. Could this be related?) Currently after I have posted my login details, and loaded the HTML back, I see the page which does NOT show the flash HTML (as if I had viewed source for the whole page).   As are are different binary representation of the numbers (for example, take big/little endian), is this cross-platform: some_unsigned_type variable = some_number; // set n-th bit, starting from 1, // right-to-left (least significant-to most significant) variable |= ( 1 << ( n - 1 ) ); // clear the same bit: variable &= ~( 1 << ( n - 1 ) ); In other words, does the compiler always take care of the different binary representation of the unsigned numbers, or it's platform-specific? And what if variable is signed integral type (for example, int) and its value is zero positive negative? What does the Standard say about this? P.S. And, yes, I'm interesting in both - C and C++, please don't tell me they are different languages, because I know this :) I can paste real example, if needed, but the post will become too long

• Automatically hide toolbar when it is not in use.

  I am creating a Cocoa Application for Mac OS 10.6 , and I want to hide the toolbar of an NSWindow automatically when it is not in use for at least 30 seconds. I think this can be done with NSTimers, but I'm not familiar with them and I don't know how I can implement this. Another problem is that both the NSToolbarDelegate and NSWindowDelegate protocols don't have delegate methods like toolbarDidShow: Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks. PS. This is not to punish the user, but rather give the user a cleaner window (the window consist of only a toolbar for color and font and a text-view). PPS. Can the hide-toolbar-animation lead into a problem with the cursor while the user is typing?

• Displaying full path of filename in tabs ~ Netbeans 6.8

  I can't seem to find a way in the options to display the full path of the file at the title of the tab. I can hover over it to see it, but it would be nice to see it at a glance. There is a SU question about it also, http://superuser.com/questions/88637/netbeans-how-to-view-file-full-path-in-window-title-or-somewhere-else Does anyone have a solution for this to actually display it? I can see there is a custom .jar for it in the RC2 Netbeans, but that's probably way old now. PS, I should mention that a path relative to the project would be ideal, as well as a full path. Either really :)

Actually there is this action against hunger in the world that shows you very precisely where the persons are located that have took part to this petition: http://www.1billionhungry.org/meodai/impact/ I would like to integrate that in one of my projects. I took a look at the source but i could not figure out how they did it. Can someone help me out? is there a web service for that? Is the google map api doing this or are they using an other service? • Can I find out which thread is running using Eclipse?

  I close my application by pressing a "Close" button. But in the Eclipse I see a red square indicating that something is still running. When I press this red square, I kill my application completely. Is it possible to find out what is still running (which method, which loop) using Eclipse? P.S. I am a newbie. So, it would be nice to have a simple solution. I also might not understand your answer if you use "technical" words which I do not know.

  How do I make an image appear on the top of a page and not showing up in the listing post of my upcoming website: www.xternalit.co.uk? Example: when i type: abcdefg then "more option" then below "more option", id have an image. When the user click on "read more" they will see "abcdefg the an image. I dont want that. I want when they click on "read more" they would see the image first and then "abcdefg". Is this possible with a plugin or tweaking of my template? Cheers! • How to get total cpu usage in Linux (c++)

  I am trying to get total cpu usage in %. First I should start by saying that "top" will simply not do, as there is a delay between cpu dumps, it requires 2 dumps and several seconds, which hangs my program (I do not want to give it its own thread) next thing what I tried is "ps" which is instant but always gives very high number in total (20+) and when I actually got my cpu to do something it stayed at about 20... Is there any other way that I could get total cpu usage? It does not matter if it is over one second or longer periods of time... Longer periods would be more useful, though.

  Working with .NET framework I have a service with a set of methods that can generates several types of exceptions: MyException2, MyExc1, Exception... To provide proper work for all methods, each of them contains following sections: void Method1(...) { try { ... required functionality } catch(MyException2 exc) { ... process exception of MyException2 type } catch(MyExc1 exc) { ... process exception of MyExc1 type } catch(Exception exc) { ... process exception of Exception type } ... process and return result if necessary } It is very boring to have exactly same stuff in EACH service method with exactly same exceptions processing functionality... Is there any possibility to "group" these catch-sections and use only one line (something similar to C++ macros)? Probably something new in .NET 4.0 is related to this topic? Thanks. P.S. • Where is the windows app installed + .NET + VS2005

  I deployed a windows application in the following website http://StagingServer/MyProgs/MPP/ on my intranet site, using the Publish Wizard of VS 2005... I accepted all defaults (including Offline support). My users were also able to install the same from the path specified. But when I try to find out the exact location of the EXE in the client, it is not pointing anywhere. I also tried a file search but in vain. Initially I thought the application is running from the server itself, but we were able to start the app, even when the server is down (ofcourse it takes more time to search for updates initially). Ps : The app is showing even in control panel... Raja

• Determining whether a file is a duplicate

  Is there a reliable way to determine whether or not two files are the same? For example, two files with the same size and type may or may not be the same binarilly (yeah, I know it's not really a word). I assume that comparing one or two checksums of the files will help, but I wonder: How reliable are checksums at determining whether two files are different; what are the chances of two different files having the same checksum? Would reliability increase by applying additional checksum comparisons? Which checksum algorithm(s) would be the most efficient and/or reliable? Any ideas, suggestions or thoughts are appreciated! P.S. The code for this is being written in Java running on a nix system, but generic or platform agnostic input is most helpful.

  I've created a custom clipboard because it's not possible to make my whole class map serializable - which is a requirement for the windows clipboard. However, I need to distinguish between users who are using my clipboard through a unique id. Basically, I want to be able identify a person who is sat at one PC with one or more copies of visual studio (or similar) open.
